We’ve never had less then stellar meal. The service is top notch. If you’re looking for a great dining experience and haven’t been to Fourk you should definitely put them on your list.

The host asked us NOT«would you like to eat outside» but«would you eat outside»?its 5:00, 92 degrees outside, and the place is nearly empty. We didn’t have a reservation but the place wasn’t full even as we left. There were 4 of us, so it was going to be a good bill. I don’t understand why we were treated like that as we went in. The prime rib was good. The jerk chicken was ok. The fish with olive topping was terrible. It would have been good, but the olives were just too much. I found the staff snooty and I doubt I will ever go back.

The first two experiences were excellent here and the last four were a trainwreck. I swear the food is so bad you could get a UTI. On a serious note, the food is overly sauced, fried, and lacks the elegance it had when it first opened. Best guess is they lost their cook.

Gosh can I say I really really wanted to love this place. The remodel from the last restaurant was wonderful, except less bar seats. The bartenders are always knowledgable and highly supportive of the cuisine. Our first visit we went with the award winning app which was just meatballs dunked in wing sauce served with blue cheese dressing. Award winning ugh… Well it is Hickory. Second visit was there for lunch so we decided upon hummus, highly recommended again. I must say this was two scoops of the most interesting hummus I have had somewhat spicy which we love but overall both flavorful. Only minus is the deep fried pita, so thick and hard from the pita soaking up grease, was hard to digest. Little tip to chef cut up pita in to pieces and toast for just a minute or two, very yummy and no petrified grease. We ordered Famous Fourk burger and turkey wrap. The burger I just had a bite of but was slathered in bbq sauce. Took away from the flavor. The wrap one bite and I almost spit out. It was correctly described as Turkey spinach and cranberry sauce which I love but as an accent. So there were equal portions of turkey and cranberry sauce made so sweet and texture almost nauseating. I would have really enjoyed if was very lightly cranberry not as thick as the turkey meat. So I proceed to try to eat this end up disassembling entire roll just eating the turkey. Bartender never commented except once saying«everything great right» . This was lunch we were giving them another try… As the dinner we split a steak entrée, because we split the awesome Meatball app. The steak was a special was the most expensive dish on the menu but felt what the heck this place has great ratings. It was the most hard chewy piece of steak, and we eat MR… Maybe they should chose finer cuts of meat it doesn’t matter how thick the cut which this was about inch in thickness. If people remember ponderosa… There steak was better

My colleagues we dined here for a retirement celebration and the atmosphere and service were wonderful. The waitresses were neat, efficient, kind, and orderly. I am knocking it down 1 star because I wasn’t too impressed with the food. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with coconut risotto and vegetables. The chicken was the best. I wish I had ordered the stuffed chicken with goat cheese instead. I didn’t like my vegetables. They were quite hard. My coconut risotto was pretty plain. It almost tasted like rice porridge added with unrefined coconut oil. My colleagues ordered salads and had to ask for additional dressings because there were barely any. For the price of food, it was decent but the portions weren’t too fulfilling. If you enjoy a nice fine dining without breaking the bank, then this would be the place. It’s a small but cozy restaurant. I will surely go back to try it out again.

I would even consider a 5 star if the lighting were a bit less bright! Loved my jalapeño pineappletini! The fish option was wonderful! Flank fish! I could’ve had seconds! The pomegranate Crème brûlée yummy! The waitresses sweetest ever! Totally coming back!

Had a very late lunch so they was only me in the place at the bar. My waitress was attentive but then again I helped her pass the boredom. The tomato cucumber gazpacho was different as in not really a soup but more a mixture of cut tomatoes and cucumber. Maybe could use some more cucumber as they were almost nonexistent. by and I say BUT, the spices were awesome and made the dish!!! Th club«Seanwhich» had«Fourk» bacon. Tasted like Applewood but was awesome!!! A nice club in the end. Thick cut sweet potato fries were good. Nice décor, some patio seating. Worth a try.

Visited Fourk for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant has a great ambiance; there’s plenty of space and they have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. The restaurant was nicer than I anticipated, I almost felt underdressed in t-shirt and jeans. The food was fantastic: it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Grilled Chicken sandwich was juicy and a great mixture flavors, definitely something I would recommend. Service was superb. Our waiter was extremely friendly, ensured our drinks were never empty, and prompt. The menu was slightly different than their website, my wife was surprised to see the Fourk Grilled Cheese missing from the menu. We were very pleased to learn that they offer a kid’s menu with typical kid fare(fried chicken tenders, pasta, grilled cheese). My only annoyance was the lack of high chairs, my wife and I had to hold our son for the duration of lunch. This wouldn’t stop me from visiting again but it’s something to consider for those with small children.

I love this place!!! Beautiful and very spacious kind of upscale casual vibe. Before we even entered we were greeted with that friendly southern hospitality by a woman by the door, same as we exited, very nice friendly, neighborly service. A nice varied menu, lots of fun drinks, very fresh food, good prices. As I have family in the area I know I will be back. Bravo to Fourk!

I’ve eaten here many times. The food is consistently delicious. They have a good selection of wine. Monday’s are awesome! Take advantage of the ‘Monday’s with a twist’ $ 5 special to sample their selection of starters, wines, and cocktails! :) Both their wait and bar staff are top notch!!! Asian Pork and mushroom farro rock!!! Lindsey and Britney are awesome bartenders!

This place is really(really) bad. It’s pretty simple… the only thing on the menu that the entire party had, that was good, was the local wild mushroom soup. Two of us had the«seafood mélange,» sauteed shrimp, crab, mussels, and scallops tossed in white wine pesto sauce with sun-dried tomatoes, wilted spinach, over pasta. This is literally the worst seafood pasta dish I’ve ever had in my entire life and it was the second most expensive($ 26) thing on the menu. It also tasted like the scallops were bad. My dad got the«rosemary and lemon chicken.» It should read, «ROSEMARY and lemon chicken.» It had about four times as much rosemary as it should have. Overall, there’s not much on the menu that looks overly appealing. We had a 7pm reservation and were seated at 7:25pm. The service wasn’t very good either. If you have two people at a table that eat four bites of their entrée(seafood pasta), it should occur to you to ask if it was ok. I grew up in Hickory and realize there are limited options but save your time and money. For $ 150, you shouldn’t leave completely disappointed. I wish Pleasers was still open.

We had a great Valentines Dinner at Fourk. Erica and her crew take great pride and ownership in their restaurant. Squash soup and Mushroom soups really rocked. Also enjoyed the Asian Pork and the Stuffed Chicken. Next time we come back to Hickory it will include a trip to Fourk.

Enjoyed my visit to Fourk over the Holidays with my staff of 7 and the same week returned with some of my colleagues who were visiting from all over the United States. Everyone ordered different entrees and raved about their meals. Fourk accommodated our larger group with ease and focused on the little details that make such a huge difference like the Blue cheese stuffed Olives in the fantastic Martinis :) I’ve been back a couple times and have enjoyed the feel of the reasturant and consider Fourk as one of my favorites. Would recommend to anyone from anywhere. ~J Roberts

Love the décor, love the location, and mostly love the food. I want for them to be successful, but I’m starting to sense their kitchen is gradually falling for the ‘let’s put peppers in everything’ fallacy. That’s just lazy cooking and it shows a lack of imagination… I’ve noticed this with other kitchens as well. Not EVERYTHING needs peppers. I’ll give them a few more chances to show real creativity.

Great food, ambiance and drinks! Highly recommend the watermelon martini. Food wise, we had the meatballs, prime rib and Thai salad — all were great. Staff was friendly, and ambiance was fine, not sure what other reviews are talking about with loud music. Save room for dessert!

Went to Fourk to with my friend’s family to celebrate an accomplishment. Her family made reservervations and we were seated immediately. The entire evening we were the only party in the restaurant besides a small party of 2 and some individuals at the bar. When our waiter introduced himself he discussed the restaurant and the awards it had won. He went on and on and on… at certain point it was almost too much. It is important to know what others think(as we all know on Unilocal) but I also don’t really care what a judge thought of your food at a festival that one time… impress me with my meal tonight! The food was delicious and everything was cooked perfectly. However, the food is very rich. Make your stomach hurt later in the evening kind of rich — but it tastes so good! I think it has to do with the fact that many of the dishes had a rich creamy sauce.

Bottom line up front: $ 160 for a party of three. Important you know that off the bat. Sorry for the late review. I ate at Fourk back in May while passing through to visit my parents enroute to VA to my next duty station. Everyone that I spoke to just raved about how good this place was. I was born and raised in Hickory and have been away for 24 years with the military. I have lived and/or traveled around the world, and trust me, I’ve eaten at some exceptional restaurants. My thought after my meal… people need to venture out and realize what really good food is. This place is a joke. Can’t believe people were lined up for a table. 1. Start at the bar. A friend and I had two cocktails while waiting on our table. How do you screw up a gin and tonic? Well, they did. When I squeezed my lime, literally nothing came out. Almost like it had sat out for a week. Bartender was more interested in talking to her friends instead of making good drinks. 2. Ordered the lettuce wraps. Wilted lettuce and room temperature. Most lettuce wraps are to the side along with whatever you’re going to stuff them with. These were rolled up with some sort of chicken stuffing. Probably one of the most disgusting apps I’ve ever had. Tasted like a something you would get at a sports bar. 3. Ordered prime rib and asked for fresh horseradish on the side. The horseradish must have been sitting out with that lime all week. They apparently forgot to actually season the prime rib. Bland at best. Got a prime rib like that in Vegas one time for $ 12. I assure you Fourk’s prime rib was much more expensive. 4. Chef’s vegetables for my side. On the side is where they stayed. I totally understand that type of side should retain a little crispiness and not be mush. Oh they did that. I’m not joking, they were fresh cut, raw vegetables. There is no way that they were cooked… at all. 4. Service. Sat for 15 minutes waiting on my water to be refilled while I was trying to wash down my entrée. My actual comment when we left the restaurant; «Wow! Next time lets go to Outback and save $ 80.» To charge those prices, this place should be a phenomenal dining experience. Instead, I felt robbed. Now I know. I’ll never spend my money there again. I’ll be fair. Did I say anything about it? No. I didn’t give them the chance to fix things throughout the meal. I guess I just thought it was a fluke with the drink, and then the app, and then the entrée and the bad service. Sorry. If I would have said something for each mishap, I would have been there all night.

I called ahead and was sad that they do not do anything special for bdays but figured we would try it for my mom’s birthday. I am so glad I did!!! Bar: The hostess and wait staff are attentive but not pretentious, I was comfortable with jeans. I noticed they had six local brews on tap, but also have a good selection of bottled beers including domestic beers(Coors Light) for hubby. The bar only had a few stools but three TVs. I wonder if this would be a good place for Sunday afternoon football, and if they are getting the NFL ticket. My mom had sweet tea with lime, as she requested and the waitress kept her glass filled. Starters: We split the($ 8) GRILLEDWATERMELONANDFIGSALAD served in a balsamic glaze over greens with goat curds. The kitchen split the salad for us creating the perfect portion. It was fantastic, I would definitely recommend this salad. The amount of dressing is perfect, not too much balsamic glaze. Main Meal: Mom had the($ 9) CHICKENCEASARWRAP, which she said was very good. It seemed like a safe bet because it was simply chicken, dressing and lettuce but the waitress was extremely helpful. She recommended the FRUIT as a side. I can not express how refreshing it is to ask a waitress for a recommendation and actually get one. The fruit salad was fresh pineapple, strawberries and blueberries; a great accompaniment to the wrap. The waitress brought out a side of fresh caesar dressing for mom to take home along with her uneaten half of the wrap. I had the GRILLED($ 9) PORTABELLASANDWICH on a brioche roll and the waitress recommended french fries. Wow, those SHOESTRINGFRIES are garnished with sea salt and fresh pepper — great. The sandwich is a slice of grilled mushroom topped a slice of partially melted mozzarella, grilled pineapple and a few greens, a brioche roll is smaller than a burger roll so my first bite was of the ingredients and it was fantastic– there was also balsamic glaze in there but next time I would ask to hold the glaze because it was so drippy and my french fries got mushy. ****Another table ordered the Seanwhich– which looked like it was piled high with thinly sliced deli meats. Dessert: They did not have a big selection of dessert, only gelato and birthday cake so we ordered the birthday cake and was not disappointed. It was a homemade dense vanilla cake with a light white icing; plated with vanilla glaze and blueberries. The cake was awesome, I rarely eat the cake part(only the icing) but the cake was incredible. If their philosophy is to serve only two fresh, homemade desserts then I applaud them. I can not explain how many times I have paid $ 7.00 for a dessert that is simply a piece of Sam’s club cake and not even plated. This was definitely not one of those times. We will be back!
