High Point Plaza Hotel and Conference Center

This hotel is a joke. The manager, the staff should be on Saturday Night Live!
We waiting until 4 PM to check-​in only to have an un-​made bed /​no towels and a manger that is oblivious. We were offered a free breakfast — LOL!
Unfortunately, we are stuck here for the weekend!
The bar staff was incapable and serving as well.

Very reasonable on the price and the rooms were nice and clean. Very welcoming hotel.

We booked a block of rooms for my daughters wedding, Saturday July 5^th. Received what we thought was a decent rate of $ 92 a night. This did not include parking or breakfast. We stayed 3 nights — Thursday through Sunday.
Our room did not get cleaned till after 3 pm on Saturday, the day of the wedding. We had to go get towels. The bridal couples room was used by the groom and his best man (his brother) on Friday night. When the bride and groom got to their room Saturday night after the reception the room still had not been taken care of!
Great location close to our venue. But for the price I would expect more.

Excellent accommodations; perfect location in the heart of downtown high point. Very nice service.

The thing is I couldn’t find the listing for the restaurant /​bar that is located at this hotel. Pub 135, the bar area was an absolute disaster. I understand it’s a Thursday night, but there is no excuse for terrible service.
Our bartender Warren was almost nonexistent, forcing us to flag for his attention every time we needed something. I’m still sitting here wondering how a hotel of this caliber can have such a terrible staff.
Our wings took almost forty minutes to churn out. I thought that possibly the restaurant was slammed. Walked over and found not a single table was seated. Okay I lied. The employees were eating at a table.
The wings finally came out, and two orders one was warm and the other was cold. Since we vested this much time here drinking, we figured we would stay for a meal.
We had ordered shrimp linguini, steak Cobb salad, steak burger, and the house burger. All ordered medium.
I’m not sure why but the food came out separately. One at a time, with a five minute span within each other.
Shrimp linguini came out as chicken linguini. Steak Cobb salad came out medium well. Steak burger was probably the only one that came out right and now the kicker. My burger was according to him «swiped». So I had to wait another 15 minutes to get a medium well almost well done charred burger without my sweet potato fries.
Every time we tried to flag him for his attention he was a bit too busy or just failed to acknowledge us.
Now this being a business meal we had asked to put it on one check. He forgot to do that as well.
It’s one thing to forget one thing. He forgot everything.
This is not what I had expected, so now I leave hungry and sad.

Going to a recent event in High Point, this hotel was not only convenient to the venue having the event, but the High Point Amtrak station as well. Bonus and bonus, so I selected to stay here for one night so I wouldn’t have to rush back home and made a reservation.
The positive… nice rooms that are a bit larger than your average chain hotel with plenty of room, and nicely cared for facilities. The food in the bistro for breakfast was good, and the bistro staff was very courteous and pleasant. As I stated before, convenience to the High Point Theatre and Amtrak station, as well as other downtown places.
The not so good… I had a hard time with check-​in, even though I had a reservation. I admit I tried very early in the a.m. the first time and did not expect a room, and yes, I was told to come back later… expected. So I came back after noon, after the morning events. Then I was told «come back after 2pm» (I wish I had that guidance the first time). Then after 2pm, looks like I was going to be ok, but then while checking in, credit card and everything already starting to be looked at… I am told «there are no kings» and I cannot have a double. So I was confused but apparently she meant there were no king bed rooms available YET, but then I was told by the staff member she’d write my name down and make sure I got a king room if one comes up, and that she guesses she could have done that first thing in the a.m. when I first came. O_​o * – my reaction. I can understand, it was a big event weekend, but I was hoping that dealing with an annual furniture market would have been good practice. But in the end by evening, I got my room and enjoyed it. It happens… big weekend events can make a hectic time, understandable.
Also a speed bump or two getting seated in the bistro. Again, big crowd weekend. But every table, yes every one, was used and not been bussed… and not being bussed. It was a bit frustrating as to get some breakfast and make it to the morning session. Finally someone noticed me hovering and quickly cleared a small place for me. They noted I was in a hurry to get eats and get to the event, and noted I had been waiting a good while, so in the end it was well as I got the good breakfast I wanted and they helped compensate me for my wait as well. Again, we got there, it ended well considering.
Bottom line: Nice hotel, with good sized rooms and well kept facilities. We had a few speed bumps service wise to get over, and if not for those items, I could easily go up to four stars for HP Plaza, but for now, they get the 3 stars A-​OK Unilocal rating from me.

. Incredibly surprised that for $ 75 how nice and clean the room was. Our room was much larger than your typical Hampton Inn/​Hilton Garden Inn size room. Great shower pressure. Small fridge in the room. Flat screen. Large king size bed was very comfortable. Food in the restaurant was good. $ 10 burger but it was huge and was very good. Indoor pool was a good size but the heater was broken which the staff failed to post a sign and the kids froze their butts off! Parking is free is you want to park on a side street. For $ 6/​day it is worth parking in the lot attached to the building run by the city. I would stay there again, if I was forced to go to High Point again.
