I had my hair cut here by Trudy. She was nice and accommodating. Upsides: professional, clean Downsides: takes a long time to get an appointment/get ahold of anyone, the salon doesn’t have any windows so it smells very salon-y They do have a discount for first time customers :)

Trudy has been doing my hair for over a decade, she truly understands technique, style, and the latest trends. My fiancé is also impressed with her eye for his type of head and hair. Def. recc!

I’ve been living in Hilo for the past four years and would go to Oahu every so many months to get my hair cut and colored. Well, my stylist is no longer working on Oahu, so inevitably I need a new stylist and thought I should just find one in Hilo since I now call the Big Island«home». Mind you, it has been almost 9 months since my last hair cut and I began to look like I belonged to a 80’s hair band, minus the spandex and skin tight tank tops. So I asked around and heard really awesome things about Parallel Beauty and especially Trudy(the Unilocal critique helped too!) Needless to say, I called her and got an appt. that same week! The Salon is located in downtown Hilo close by the Library and the down town post office. There is lots of parking. Trudy was so nice and really easy to talk to! She’s cute, stylish, and down to earth! She cut my hair first wet with both scissors and a straight edge razor then dry ed it, flat ironed it, and shaped it when it was dry! LOOOOVE! my hair looks great and I love it! I’m a hard person to please since my expectations are pretty high but I can honestly say I am really happy with my cut and experience with Trudy! I’m already planning to go back for some type of color to spice up my mommy locks! Thanks Trudy! I now am sooo NOT part of any 80’s rock band anymore and can wear my hair down with pride!

I’m what friends call… a Hair Whore! I move from stylist to stylist… salon to salon… always in search of the next best thing! I have a very difficult time… committing. I recently moved to Hilo and needed to find a stylist I could trust with my locks. I held out for a while(3 months to be exact) until I found… Trudy of Parallel Beauty in Hilo. I have always dreamed of doing bangs again… after a nightmare of a cut(I will spare the name of salon and stylist) I had 4 years ago. Trudy made me cut bangs again without fear of looking back. She even taught me how to style it on my own so I could achieve the same salon look after washing my hair at home.(Ladies…you KNOW how that goes) Trudy is talented and also very friendly! She made genuine conversation and still maintained a precise and great cut. The cut was quick, but not rushed. She never pushed any products, but spoke honestly of them when asked. NOT to mention, she has fabulous hair which she even cuts herself… now that’s pure talent. What stylist do you know that actually cuts their own hair and is responsible for their own fabulosity! The cost was not cheap(haircuts go as low as $ 15 bucks here in Hilo) but totally reasonable if you’re looking for a quality cut without flying to Oahu or Vegas. Then you can call $ 45 cheap minus your airline ticket. Sigh…I may have to say good-bye to my one-salon-visit-stands. Yes, I may have found a stylist I can actually commit to.
