This restaurant has really gone down hill! My husband and I stopped in for lunch and we were very disappointed in the quality of the food, the service and the overall cleanness of the place. We sat at a booth in the bar, which gave us an excellent view of the dust bunnies hanging from the chandeliers. I am not sure if they have ever been dusted. I ordered the salad special with crispy brussels sprouts and my husband ordered the fish sandwich special with fries and a couple overpriced water downed cocktails. It took a long time for the food to arrive and when it did it all looked warmed over not. There was no crisp to the brussels sprouts and the fries looked shriveled and re-heated. The service was poor. The waiter came to our table three times. Once to take our order, once to deliver our cocktails and once to deliver the check. She never checked in to see how things were after the food arrived or during the long wait for our food.

Food is good but worst Bloody Mary I have ever had! It was watered down and made from a mix. I would expect a nice place like this would go the extra mile and make their own.

You would never know you were in a mall! The place is beautiful, lots of unique things to look at. The menu is diverse, you can have pizza & salad or a big steak. Server was knowledgeable and make great recommendations from drink to desert. I will defiantly be back!

Coworkers had raved about this place for weeks so a few of us gave it a try for lunch. Unfortunately it was very disappointing — but possibly because we had such high expectations. The portions are extremely large, which may be a positive. But the amount of salt used on everything is excessive. Besides the salt the food was OK, service and atmosphere the same. Prices are average. I would call this just another average chain. No more, no less.

Love this place! I go here often. Everything I’ve ordered has been cooked to perfection. Their pear martini is to die for & I enjoy the mussels and salads. Pizza is amazing too. You can sit at the bar for a more casual feel or the dining room could be a great place for a special evening.

I came here for my birthday because I wanted to eat at a «nicer» restaurant and was craving Italian. It’s located in Derby Street Shoppes. The inside has a nice ambience, dimly lit at night and has a nice rustic feel. We were a party of 5 and seated at a comfortable booth. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. I ordered the Long Island Duck Breast, and others ordered the Lobster Carbonara, Baked Rigatoni, Baked Stuffed Haddock, and a special that was offered that night. Overall I enjoyed my dish and everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs too. Presentation was very nice and the flavors were up to par. However, I do wish the portions were larger especially at the price points. Most entrees were $ 23-$ 30. It’s a good place to try out for a special occasion, but I wouldn’t come regularly.

Went to dinner with my parents and husband to be. Three of us got a burger and I got the lobster carbonara. All dishes were delicious and beautifully cooked. Service was spot on. The décor is perfect with the name of the restaurant. Side note the men’s urinal was broken, my father and fiancé were not impressed with that happening at a nice restaurant like that.

The pros for brunch: 1. Excellent location and the place is beautiful. 2. Large outdoor seating area. 3. The oysters were amazing 4. The drinks were made perfectly The cons: 1. They won’t seat you until your full party is present. One of the 4 of my group was running late and they wouldn’t seat us to order drinks and apps. 2. Ordered the strawberry salad with shrimp and the shrimp was extremely dry and rubbery. 3. Bathroom lighting — the men’s room lighting was horrible. It’s like a single, 40 watt bulb for the entire bathroom.

My girlfriend and I went here for Valentines Dinner. It was absolutely amazing. We split an order of calamari and the taste was out of this world. I had the chicken parmesan. I enjoyed every little bite. They added pesto to the marinara sauce which struck me as different and I was a lil shaky about it. Once I started eating it, «it was possibly the best I have ever had». Nothing on my plate disappointed me. My girlfriend had ordered a seafood dish, but by the time I had thought to ask for a bite it was already gone. That’s how you know she liked it. This restaurant really lives up to the hype and expectations.

I have been dying to try the Rustic Kitchen, but just never made it there, until this past week. I honestly, don’t know how I feel about it after my first visit. First, they sat my husband and I down at a table for two the size of a table for four in most restaurants.(This plays a part in my review later, I promise). We ordered a glass of wine to have as we decided on what to order. The waitress brought us over bread and a bean dip for the bread. It tasted fine, but the bread was very heavy and the dip was heavy and it just didn’t work for me. We ordered the arancini for an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious!, The arancini small, but there were 6 or 7 in the appetizer so it was more than enough food. I wasn’t sure I would like them when they reached our table as they were served in a tomato sauce with a salad over the top. Salad and arancini? I can say I was very much mistaken. The salad had a really nice dressing(balsamic onion maybe?) that went really well with the arancini. The sauce was absolutely amazing, so amazing that we were looking forward to dipping our bread in it when we were finished with the arancini. This is where things started to go a little awry for me. The waitress took the arancini sauce away without asking if we were done, and then the bread when she brought our dinners. We both ordered pasta, and I was surprised that they removed the bread from the table with both of us having pasta. The table size(as I mentioned earlier) was more than large enough to accommodate the bread without it even seeming crowded. We ordered the baked rigatoni and the wild boar lasagna and to be honest, we were completely satisfied with both dishes. The portion size was more than enough, even for my husband. My only complaint was that the rigatoni was listed in the pasta section where they advertise home made pasta, yet it was from a box.(I checked with the waitress to confirm this…). It still tasted good, but it wasn’t the fresh made pasta I thought I was ordering. After we were finished, my husband and I both pushed our plates to the center of the table… and waited. And waited… and waited. It was a good half hour before our waitress came back. We were ordering dessert(crème bruleee is my absolute favorite). Our waitress took the order and we waited… and waited… another 15 minutes for dessert to come out. It was good, but crème brûlée when done right always is. After we were done with dessert we waited for the check. And waited… and waited… another 30 minutes. If the dining room had been booked solid, I might understand, but we were there later in the dinner service and half the tables were empty. So, that being said… food was good. Service was… slow and weird. Would I go back? Doubtful. For what we paid for dinner, fresh pasta should have been fresh pasta and service should have been better.

Came to Rustic Kitchen on a Sunday afternoon with some girlfriends to catch up. We were promptly seated with not all of our party present, which was great. When our last friend arrived, we all ordered our brunch meals. I ordered the Prosciutto and Sunny Side Egg Pizza and my friends ordered: The lobster club, grilled chicken club and baked rigatoni. I absolutely enjoyed my meal, the egg made the pizza so creamy. I couldn’t even finish half of it because it was so big. The others girls loved their meals as well, but the rigatoni was very dry. My friend asked the waitress for an extra side of marinara and that solved the problem. Rustic Kitchen has its own large pizza oven, all of the different types of pizzas sounded amazing. We ended up getting a few dessert items to share: Crème Brulee and Tiramisu. Both desserts were amazing and were finished off quickly. I’m excited to come back here and get dinner at the bar. The bar space looked like a wonderful place to grab a drink or experience an entire meal there. All staff was very friendly including our waitress, great service!

Had a great early dinner on Monday evening. Service was great — our server was friendly and attentive. She was at the table when needed and efficient throughout the meal. Arancini appetizer was outstanding. Great flavor and a tasty sauce. Caesar salad was ok. Dressing was a little bland, but asiago bowl was a nice addition. Our entrees were great. 7oz filet was cooked perfectly, but wish it wasn’t «butterflied.» Fries and veggies were also delicious. Chicken marsala was very tasty, the mashed potatoes were hot and the sauce was really good. Chianti was perfect with our meal. Overall a nice quick dinner with satisfying results. We’ll stop in again.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Their drinks are perfect. My wife and I had the Grilled Pear Salad, followed by the Rib Eye Steak and Braised Pork Osso-buco. A delicious Crème Burle to wrap the night. We’ll keep coming back.

Quite hit or miss here. It is a very nicely set up Italian bistro with unique décor(wine labels stuck to the wall) inside the mad house that is Derby Street. The appetizer bread came out with a weird olive oil gravy. Obviously, they tried something different here. It just ended up tasting like someone messed up and mixed gravy with olive oil. We also got an excellent lobster and artichoke dip. The only problem was the dipping wontons were so frail, they fell apart if you attempted to dip. My entrée was the chive gnocchi, which was described as «sprinkled with sausage crumbles.» It was more like a bowl of sausage chunks garnished with a few gnocchi. Again, it tasted excellent… but I wanted gnocchi, not sausage. The gnocchi is supposedly hand made, so I can guess they cheaply ration them out. Disappointing. I would give this place another shot, though.

I came here for dinner and must say everything about it is great! From the drinks, food to service. Our waitress was very attentive! The ambience is also nice, they have an outdoor patio and bar but since it was cold out we sat inside. We got the 1. lobster dip, amazing! 2. Prosciutto arugula pizza, delicious! 3. Ceaser salad, very fresh 4. Shrimp scampi pasta, delicious! 5. fish tacos, amazing! All the food were good to share among 3 people, probably too much food. They also give bread with this cheesy crust and hummus dip at the start of your dinner, very tasty. I give this place 5 stars as everything about it was excellent. A must try if you are in the south shore area. Located in the derby street shops.

Reallllly want to love this place but man does their service suck. I like this place for its outside patio but every time I go our server is exceptionally slow. It took our server twenty minutes before she arrived at our table with water. Just water. She then made a separate trip for bread. Then for drinks. Then for our order. She just mosied about without any sense of urgency. Then, the cherry on top was at the end of our dining experience, she made a joke about tipping her well after poor service. You just don’t do that. So I guess this rating is for the continued lack of service. I don’t think this will be my first pick for lunch at derby anymore. The inside dining room looks beautiful though.

It’s okay… I guess. I’m not in love with the place, but I don’t dread it. Rustic Kitchen is just okay, hence the grade. I went for the pressed cuban and it was decent: reasonable amount of ham and swiss, and the bread was pressed fairly well. The pasta salad wasn’t memorable, which can be a good or bad thing. Probably the complimentary foccacia and white bean dip was the highlight of the meal. The dip was tasty and went well with the bread. It’s a nice change to hummus. The service was just average as well, as the server wasn’t awful, but wasn’t stellar either. She checked on us once. The bar was loud, but since I came here for a late lunch, the adjacent dining area was rather quiet.
