I took my wife here for our anniversary and I have to say it was one of the best dinner experiences we’ve over the years. The building exterior is solid granite assuming from the quarry located directly behind it. The interior is absolutely beautiful. High ceilings and great decore. We sat outside overlooking the guarry now filled with water. Great outdoor atmospher, just what my wife was looking for. Wait staff very attentive and polite, along with a fun sense of humor. I ordered steak, cooked and seasoned perfectly. My wife ordered the gnocci dish which was melt in your mouth deliciuos. Wine and beer selection was good al well. Prices on the high side but the food and décor experience made it well worth the price. Great dining experience. You will not be disappointed.

Tried this restaurant out on a whim, last minute decision early on a Saturday evening. Very nice, felt a little under dressed wearing causal outfit. Has a nice outdoor patio right off the quarry(which I’m not sure how it is with the bugs and mosquitoes so we sat inside). Our server was a delight; a gentleman who was very attentive to every detail, and knew the menu and questions regarding it by heart. The menu was small but I was told the smaller the more perfect each dish is. Im picky when it comes to new things and not being im an adventurous mood i played it save. My boyfriend got the filet, and I got the quarry burger. His steak was really really good. Tender, not over cooked. My burger was a little greasy due to the caramelized onions but it was a top notch burger. Their food was just more upscale, presentation, and a little spin off the normal. It is on the pricey side. Filet was $ 38 my burger was $ 16 and we got two drinks and the bill came to $ 80; before leaving a tip. It’s not a place I’d go often, but it is definetly a nice date night out. Hopefully their menu changes before we go back! Very nice place would definetly go again!

This is a wonderful place for brunch! Beautiful views and the restaurant is filled with natural light. They have a pastry basket offered at brunch which is filled with delicious treats, a menu filled with amazing choices and a fabulous drink list.

I have sat on this review since dining on May 7th, but it is what it is so here goes. Service review: Service was an abomination. A total failure. Let me explain. We had a party of 14 celebrating my son’s first communion. My wife made reservations for a several weeks in advance so this was not a last minute accommodation. This was Saturday 5⁄7 at 2 pm. 1. For starters, upon arrival, the staff attempted to seat us at 2 separate tables although we had a reservation for the entire party. They fixed this at my wife’s request, no problem. 2. Our 10 and 7 year olds were hungry from the get go as it had already been a long day for them, so we requested some bread or rolls to tide them over. This simple request took forever. Cocktail orders were taken, filled and delivered before the kids got any bread. 3. We ordered 2 dozen oysters, these were delivered with cocktail sauce and one slice of lemon per dozen. No mignonette, no horseradish, no small forks. 4. We were 50 minutes into our service before water glasses were refilled, and then only upon my request. 5. When salads and other appetisers arrived we had a table full of app plates with oyster shells and dinner forks covered in cocktail sauce. Again this was only addressed upon my request. 6. Bread and dipping oil for the table were delivered after salads and appetisers. 7. Leading into the main course I asked to see a wine list. Imagine, an hour or so into the service and we had not been offered their wine list /specialty drink menu until I requested it, and even then they brought one list for a table of 14! 8. My aunt did not receive the coffee she ordered with dessert, until again we had to make another request. 9. We received attitude from the waitstaff for requesting water, replacing app plates, and clarifying who ordered which entrée. Maybe they were understaffed, but they didn’t seem interested in rising to the occasion to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. To be clear, any one or two issues would not have been a big deal, or perhaps even noticed or remembered, but the totality of one issue after another ruined what makes dining out such a pleasure. Food review: The food was ok but nothing wowed us. I thought Brodetto was under salted(a split /shared opinion) but still nice. However it should have been accompanied by a crostini or something to enjoy with the broth. The Fish filet was tasty but dry. My aunt commented that it should have come with more than one lemon wedge, but if it wasn’t overcooked one wedge would have been plenty. The swordfish received positive reviews and looked nice. The hanger steak was good and cooked to order. The lobster sliders were nice. The pear salad was bland and the greens had brown bases. A chocolate cake prepared for us was excellent. So lacklustre service, OK food, poor execution and a bad attitude do not make for a fine, or fun, dining experience. I’ll stick with Tosca’s or Café Tosca when dining in Hingham.

My wife and I went recently for our second time. Both times were great. The staff is pleasant and attentive. The food was really good from appetizers to desert. We like the layout and the décor. We will return.

Looking for something different and new, we stumbled across The Quarry! We sat in the lounge area at a high top close to the fire. This room is gorgeous, stone from floor to ceiling! Our server Jennifer, was excellent! We ordered drinks and small plates and she brought them out one by one which gave us a chance to enjoy each dish before proceeding on to the next. It was so relaxing and each plate was delicious! We had the seafood chowder, home made Asian pork sausage, swordfish tacos, and lobster sliders. The beer selection(cans and bottles) was one of the best verities of craft beer selections I have seen. We will be back!

We were there when it first open and found it a little bland in atmosphere. What a difference, the restaurant has great lighting and just enough music to create a vibrant feel. The bar area has been expanded and looks like a great place to have some wine and apps. The food was great and service was friendly an attentive.

I am never disappointed when I come here. The service is exceptional, the food is unique and amazing. Last night: Started with caesar salad and mussels — yum. The garlic olive oil with bread is delicious as well. I got the honey chicken with potato purée and jus. my friend got the scallops with pear & mascarpone pasta purses and butternut squash cubed. Whoa flavor town. Both were sooo good. Finished off with 2 desserts(chubby night) Hofstra ice cream and homemade bread pudding. And I got a glass of wine that was delish. All of this for $ 106! Awesome, you can’t beat that. *The décor is beautiful as well. Clean, rustic and warm.

The weekly question presented itself… where should we go Saturday night? I had done some searching and came upon The Quarry Restaurant website. I took a peek and not only did the menu look tasty, but the building itself and décor looked romantic. As we customarily do, we took an Über to the restaurant for our 9p reservation. Upon arrival we were in awe of the stonework of the building and then when we were being escorted to our table we took in the high ceilings and lighting. Our server, David, was excellent, answering our questions and helping us decide on some of his personal favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed the salad that I chose to start with; the radicchio and endive paired perfectly with the roasted hazelnuts and aromatic blue cheese. My boyfriend, who typically doesn’t finish all the food on his plate, made sure there was not a scrap left of his pork belly appetizer before the plates were cleared. I had the wild mushroom risotto with a side of garlicky sautéed spinach, while my better half chose the swordfish and ordered a side of roasted brussels sprouts with pancetta and pomegranate. The risotto was perfectly cooked and not heavy as many risottos can be when the chef is heavy-handed with cream. The swordfish melted in your mouth and the bed of roasted corn with lobster it was served on was heavenly. The whole experience was an A+ from start to finish and we will surely be returning!

This is usually a great restaurant! My husband and I enjoy The Quarry very much. YET tonight was a different story and the two of us were extremely disappointed. The atmosphere is excellent, great ambiance. The bartender was very friendly and extremely knowledgable. We sat at the bar and had a drink, checked out the menu before we went to our table. Once we sat in the dining area it took forever for a waiter or waitress to acknowledge us.(I guess that was the first sign.) When a waitress finally appeared, she was apologetic saying she was at the bar waiting for her order not realizing she had a table. So, we ordered our drinks, appetizer and meal. Our appetizer was the hummus plate which was delicious last time but extremely Un Flavorful tonight. My husband ordered the filet which came out on a cold bed of potato purée. I had the hanger steak which came out on a bed of soggy old fries. Matter of fact, it looked like it was thrown on top of the fries and then brought out. Our waitress never came over to ask us how everything was until we were almost finished. So, we informed her about our experience so far. Hey, if the place wasn’t so pricey we wouldn’t have said anything. But for the $$$, you expect your food to be spot on and your service to be outstanding. The waitress came back, let us know she spoke with the CHEFOWNER(her exact words) and he would like to buy us dessert! Are you serious? First off, most people are to stuffed to eat dessert, second, not everyone eats dessert! Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t looking for anything but really? Dessert? And this was the chef owner? if he was such a good business person he should’ve come out and apologized. Spoke with us himself. So what could’ve been a 5 star review became a 2 star What makes this even worse? The place wasn’t even busy! NOEXCUSESALLOWED when you don’t have a full house!

My hubby and I met friends here for a beautiful Valentine’s dinner. We drank and laughed and quietly watched as snow fell over the water outside. The food was almost perfect, with my only complaint being that the flavors were sometimes too mild and salt was too heavily relied on. I like the flavors in a meal to have their own uniqueness and while menu items sound delish and their quality was superb, the flavor was the only place I felt that it fell a little flat. I can say, with gusto, that I have also had a Mother’s Day brunch where the flavor profile was much more well rounded and developed which as we all know is way less common in brunch choices. I still dream about that french toast. Overall it’s a place I will go to again and again, the ambiance is wonderful and the waitstaff(Ryan?) are impeccable– and let one not forget they have a great craft beer selection. I hope to see even more as time goes on.

The Quarry has been on our list to try since the restaurant changed hands in the last year or so. My in-laws visited over the summer while dog-sitting for us and were really pleased so while in town for the holiday, they suggested we return. We made reservations on the early side; being pregnant makes waiting to eat a trial for me and The Quarry was happy to take our early reservation although we realized it was unnecessary when we arrived to a quiet restaurant. Immediately I was impressed by the building; the sunken bar area was cozy and inviting. I could definitely see us hanging out there for a few drinks with friends. The main dining room was impressive as well with the tall ceilings, exposed ducts and those massive wrought iron chandeliers with Edison lightbulbs. Oh and I didn’t even mention the beautiful large windows looking out over the new patio with views to the quarry behind. It was such an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. My mother-in-law indicated it was loud in there the first time they visited but I had no complaints about the volume whatsoever. Though they don’t have draft beer lines, my husband was pleased with the craft beer bottle/can selection. The others ordered wine and cocktails and our server kept my water glass full. Again, being pregnant, I found myself scrutinizing the menu. I always trust and accept the chefs preferred doneness of meats but unfortunately have found myself erring towards caution when eating meat and seafood. I opted for a vegetarian option in the end to be safe and was very pleased with my choice — the mushroom risotto with truffle oil. I don’t typically love risotto but this was well prepared, the rice al dente not mush and the portion large enough to split for lunch the next day. I also ordered the Bibb lettuce salad with fried ricotta. This was an enjoyable starter and though quite simple in presentation, packed quite a hit of flavor. My husband ordered the whole fish(branzino that day) and enjoyed it tremendously. My father in law ordered the wild boar pasta dish which he loved. Overall, it was a solid dining experience. My husband and I have already talked about going back and we can’t wait to check out the patio come warmer weather.

My husband and I made a last minute reservation for Sunday brunch. At 10:30AM, we walked in and were probably the third table to sit down. Things eventually filled in around us, but the reservation certainly wasn’t necessary for a 10:30AM meal. First impressions, the restaurant is beautiful. White, bright, clean… Despite the quiet restaurant, it took a fair amount of time between being seated and getting water… then it took more time after our water was poured and she sent over the build-your-own Bloody Mary/Mimosa cart… and then even more time before we actually got coffee and ordered some breakfast. We weren’t in a particular rush, but it seemed like it would have made far more sense for her to simply make one trip over and get our whole order rather than the piecemeal service we received. It was fun to make my own Bloody Mary, but the end result wasn’t very tasty. It was bland and watery with little heat. I had bacon and a pickle added on, but I wasn’t given the«free» toppers like onion and olives. Those aren’t standard, so be sure you ask for each and every item you want. The pastry basket featured a blueberry muffin, lemon scone and the apple cider donut. The blueberry muffin had good flavor but the batter was perhaps over-beaten. The texture was very stiff and dense. The lemon scone and apple cider donut were amazing. Like another reviewer, I would order a basket of those bad boys if I could. For my meal, I got the Lobster Benedict. The Lobster Benedict should have been called the Pancetta Benedict because though lobster was listed as the main ingredient in the dish, the pancetta overwhelmed it. There was far more pancetta than lobster. It was so tasty and the eggs were perfectly cooked… I just wished that the portion of lobster had been more generous. The potatoes on the side were great — full of flavor and not too salty. My husband had the Big Tom’s Breakfast(3 eggs, skillet cornbread, sausage, bacon and home fries). He loved the skillet cornbread and home fries, but the sausage links were stone cold(even cold to the touch). There were a few improvements that could have made this a four-star meal, rather than the 3 I settled on, but even as it stands, we agreed we’d love to come back to give the dinner menu a shot. The restaurant is beautiful and we’re eager to see what they can do for the evening meal.

NEVERAGAIN. We are quite easy going and understand when we eat out knowing sometimes a chef can mess up and have a bad night. 1st off the waitress was clumsy and rude, but we smiled and continued. Husband’s burger we asked for it to be well done with no red at all– we got a burn on the outside/raw Red on inside. We Asked for it to be with mash it came with fries. I got mussels, burnt toast on top mussels were burnt, and to top it off they were freezing to the touch. «See photo» We were told would remake it after hour waiting — no thanks stood up & left. Off to our local scarlet Oak

I came here with my family for Sunday brunch and it was very nice. We hadn’t all been together for a while, so this quiet, bright restaurant was perfect for catching up over brunch. It’s a white linen restaurant, even at brunch. My favorite part of the experience was the table side build-your-own Bloody Marys. They have all these pickled things you can add — olives, bacon, shrimp, the usual, but also some unique things like pickled watermelon rinds. Downside of bloodys at brunch, split Marys everywhere… The bartender was awesome, he made my sister a «custom» drink. So I guess they’re into mixology! Brunch itself was delicious. We started it off with one of those pastry baskets. I wish you could get a whole basket of apple cider donuts, those things were to die for! For breakfast, I got the big plate, I forget what it’s called now. But it came with a personal sized cast-iron pan of cornbread cooked just right with this dill infused butter that melted inside. Eggs anyway you want them, homefries, bacon, sausage, the whole nine yards. Everything looks good on the menu, I almost got the chicken and waffles. Great service, excellent food, I will definitely be back to try dinner!

Went for brunch this morning with three others. We arrived at 10:20 and were the second table to be seated. Despite there being very few other parties and a lot of waitstaff milling around, it took FOREVER for our waitress to greet us and again to bring coffee. Then literally as soon as she placed the coffee on the table she bolted despite us having been ready to order for ten minutes. We waited AGAIN to finally flag her down and order(I still have no idea what she kept going, she had no other tables.) The food itself was so-so. I ordered Big Tom’s breakfast and requested no sausage — came with it anyway. I was very disappointed in the cornbread but the rest was fine. Remaining in party got the omelet and English muffin(unimpressed) and croissant sandwich which he did like. Overall it was expensive and probably would not be back due to the food being nothing special and service downright awful.

Make sure you check out the new patio!!! I meant to write this a few weeks ago… but my wife and I stopped by to check out the new outdoor seating they built and it was awesome. The full menu is available outside, but the ambiance was pretty awesome. The lighting was just bright enough but dim so you can enjoy the evening, and the patio overlooks the actual quarry behind the restaurant. A great addition to one of our new favorite restaurants. Keep up the great work guys!

The Quarry Restaurant and Lounge Location: 415 Whiting St, Hingham, MA2043, Great location! Another great elegant dining establishment without having to travel to the city. Parking: Plenty of free parking Décor /ambience: Beautiful, elegant, high ceilings, beautiful wood work and great big windows with views of the woods and pond just outside. At this time of year the holiday decorations are so charming as well Greeting: Always warmly greeted. I have been here twice and we are always met with smiles. There is a coat room you wish! Menu mix: The Quarry has an extremely talented chef. It is very clear as you read through the menu. Very well thought out dishes that are well designed with various elements that go very well together. It’s the type of menu that is difficult to make a selection. Does the water taste of bleach? It’s a pet peeve of mine when water is poured and it has a strong bleach taste. It’s always an issue with the machine wash and rinse cycle. The water at The Quarry is quite good, there was a very«slight» bleach-ness but not bad. Drink pour: Nice wine pour is good, no skimpy pours, great drink menu Food quality: Top notch dining, I love seeing restaurants like coming to the area. As I said the chef is extremely talented and it shows in the presentation of the foods. I love the fried clam appetizer, it’s New England favorite. I would only offer one critique as I prefer the clams to be a bit more crisp. They seem to have steamed at some point or may have hung in the basket to long after frying. The breading was soft and seem to be coming away off the clams. I still ate every one of them. For entrees I got the filet mignon and my wife got the pork chop. Both were fantastic. Foe dessert we split the cider donut dessert. It’s was phenomenal !!! I couldn’t praise it enough. The espresso martini was watery and lacked that rich coffee flavor. Service: On this trip we were taking care of by Tiffany. She was wonderful kind and had great menu knowledge. She chose some great drinks from the drink menu and a great line that went perfectly with my fillet mignon. Value: 1 app, 1 large salad, 2 entrees(filet $$), shared dessert, 3 craft cocktails 2 glasses of wine came to about 220.00 ish with tip. I want to say just a little steep. Only because of the pricy not so crisply coated clams and the watery espresso martini. If these items were flawless I would be perfectly fine with the end total Bathrooms: Spotlessly clean! Would I return? I would absolutely return I have a long list of restaurants to try out but it’s always nice to have a place close by that we enjoy. We actually canceled reservations at a place in Boston because the weather was so bad on this evening, plus we had been wanting to return to The Quarry. Comments /tips: They have great bread service here at the table they will grind fresh garlic and add some dried herbs and then pour the olive oil over the plate very nice touch for bread dipping.
