Look Up At The Sky Elite Event @ City Bistro

As per usual Yo Steph planned an awesome shindig! Tasty drinks and apps, super friendly bartenders and staff. So lame of me to be submitting my review this late. We need to be able to submit reviews from the app — instead of just drafting. I draft so many and then forget to log in and submit!
The rain towards the end of the event may have brought everyone inside, but it so didn’t bring anyone down! I really enjoyed the sangria.
Very pumped about the awesome red Elite watch to add to my Unilocal flair collection ;)
I’m excited to have finally made my way to City Bistro — they have a great rooftop and tons of tvs. I’ll definitely be back!

Coming out of the Path train was great ran into Louis at Green Rock,
everyone was where figuring their way to the Bistro.
First thing I noticed were the new renovations to the City Bistro
Entering the Event, I was welcomed by Ruggy in his make shift «Robin-​Yelp» costume and Jando missing his moustache from the «taco truck event» (bring back the ‘stache)
The roof top at city bistro is a pretty impressive, not realizing that there is another section to the roof.
However, since my other friend Alcohol was there it was easy to find. the bartenders cool and attentive asked me if I wanted my drink Strong or :…wait is there another way to make drinks. Hell yeah?! STRONG
Next to the bar I was greeted by the one the only .drum roll please «YOSTEPH», picked me up a nice fancy Unilocal watch.
The food kept coming wings, was my favorite and the beef bites also stole the show.
The weather so temperamental, actually it’s the one who has stealing the show lately. We had to evacuate the roof single file, felt like I was back in grammar school. as we all marched down the steps. Part II of this event was indoors still giving great deals on drinks.
It was wonderful meeting old/​new Unilocalers. Leslie D. sporting a very cool wonder woman outfit. sadly I had to leave a bit early but in all Thanks YOSteph for another awesome event keep them coming !!!

Weather be damned, this even was great. City Bistro’s roof has a tremendous view of Manhattan and just the right amount of TVs to keep you in the action. The cocktails were delicious and I was stoked about Shiner Bock!
All of the apps were pretty tasty and I loved the sweet wings. It did take some effort though to get at the ceviche. Luckily I was able to miss the brunt of the rain so all in all a killer Elite event!

Vicky L. has been telling me that Unilocal events in Jersey are awesome, and so I finally got to experience one. It was indeed spectacular. The people were all friendly and unpretentious, I had such a nice time chatting with old friends and meeting new ones. It was nice to meet Steph and thanks for arranging the event!
There were four cocktails to try, and my favorite was the sangria. It was refreshing and tasted like summer is arriving. All the food was quite good as well, I think I had about ten ceviche shooters.
I live in Jersey City and now I am very much looking forward to more Jersey events.

This event was SO. MUCH. FUN.
Not only did we get YoSteph, we also got Jando and Ruggy!!! What a treat and surprise to see all of them in one place! As usual, the event was the perfect mix of happening and chill. I got a chance to meet new people, and hang out with the ones I’ve known for a long time! Shout outs to Wing L, James K. Lovett, Evan, Rich P.
Food was really good, I especially remember the shredded beef with the soft bread. Also, there were at least 4 different drink specials. I liked the sangria the most!
Am I enticing you to write more reviews so that you can become Jersey City Unilocal Elites and come to these types of awesome parties yet? I hope so!

Another awesome Unilocal night by Gotham City’s Party SuperGirl Extraordinaire YoSteph!
Great venue! I felt very city chic on the rooftop deck surrounded by Unilocal Elite, sipping Citipolitans and nibbling on tuna tartare, ceviche shooters, wings and those amazing little short rib grilled cheese bits! The bartenders were attentive (the guy was a hottie) and Heather, the manager, did an amazing job!
I only wished I could have stayed later on the second floor after the rain started but … Self Control? YoSteph is NOT your ally! If I didn’t have such an early day of meetings, I def woulda stayed a lot longer!

Kept checking the weather all day hoping we wouldn’t get rained out for the second week in a row! The rain gods heard our prayers and stayed away until the clock struck 9!
Great event! Who can complain about free cocktails, apps, RED Unilocal WATCHES, and a lovely view of NYC?! Not me, I enjoyed every minute of it!
My second Unilocal elite event did not disappoint, thanks Steph for a great time! Hopefully they get those beer taps working soon!

Anytime I can grab a Shiner is my kinda party. I unfortunately arrived at 8:15 but my friend and hopefully soon-​to-​be Unilocal Elite Jersey Tim G. got our swerve on rather quickly.
Great event. Rooftop was great while it lasted, but the move to the 2^nd floor worked out great. Can’t wait for the next one.

YOSTEPH once again killed it. Great event. Met some fun new peeps, and caught up with some I haven’t seen since Taco Truck.
Venue was perfect even though Mother Nature kept us on a strict curfew.
Tasty apps, and was particularly surprised by the Shiner Bock cans.

Ah yes rain, finally you decided to eff the eff off! Well, that is until later in the evening, but TOO LATE bitch, we already got our fix of rooftop stylin’ and chillaxin’.
By now it is understood that any event hosted by Yosteph is going to be the shiznit, mmmkay?!

The rooftop setting was casual yet inviting with partially obstructed views of the lower Hudson. The vibe just reeked of summer. Ahhh, how refreshing! Even more refreshing was mingling with the usuals and meeting new peeps, like that Louis R. character. Louis fucking R. Turns out, he’s my brotha from a filipina mother. [Maury paternity test on the horizon!]
Nibbles looked delish, albeit not veg friendly, but hey, everything was free.99 so I reserved the right to STFU! Besides, sangria is vegetarian so I just drank that. Excessively. I’m not gonna lie though, I was tempted like no other to sink my teeth into those sexy looking chicken wings, but I did my vegetarian bullshit and noshed on cucumber brushetta bites instead. While peeps were throwing back ceviche shooters, David K and Co. kept it real and dropped some cash money on Jameson shots. I like your style, fellas.
All in all a delightful way to keep the good times rolling, post Memorial Day weekend. Thanks again to City Bistro for holding us Unilocalers down and of course big props to Jersey’s finest bella, YoSteph!

Look up at the sky! Are those storm clouds? Fuggetabouit! Lucky for us, the rain stayed away until almost 9:00 PM. Just in time for us early weekday risers to call it a night. Nice!
What a fun event! Rooftop views, swanky cocktails, and super-​cool Unilocalers. We enjoyed the sangria, Californication concoctions, and Shiner Bock beers. The food? Equally as swanky. My man and I loved the tuna tartare and short rib sandwiches/​nachos the best. He would have eaten the entire plate of teriyaki wings, but he was conscious about not being «that guy». HeHeHe.
Kudos to Steph for killing it and making us all feel so welcome! And Kudos to the City Bistro for their amazing food. We can’t wait to go back!

I hear Diana Prince visited Jersey incognito last night. Who knew she’d ever go to Hoboken for a Unilocal party? It MUST have been thrown by YoSteph…
Oh wait, it WAS!
Super heroes and ordinary humans from across Jersey and beyond came out last night to mingle, eat, and drink at the fabulous roof space of City Bistro. The yummy bites were plentiful: tuna tartar, ceviche shooters, chicken wings, mini open face short rib grilled cheese, and cucumber bruschetta. My favorite of course was the tuna tartar. There’s nothing more simple nor more delicious than grade A raw fish on a crunchy crisp. Although there were some technical errors with the keg that had been planned, we were still able to partake in some major Stoli sipping. All night drinks were served up by some mighty fine bartenders. Mighty. Damn. Fine.
Thank you YoSteph for setting us up with such a great roof top riot at City Bistro! And thank you City Bistro for having us. Even when the sky opened up and we were forced inside for cover, the party kept going and the drinks kept flowing. I may be hacking up half a lung this morning but damn, it was well worth it.
Note: If I hear one more mortal write «look up at the sky» or any variation there of in their review, I think I’m going to start whipping people with a golden lasso.

Excellent soirée on a rooftop I wish I had. The queen, Stephanie Y., full of grace, was a statue in the sky. Jando S. demonstrated his award-​worthy penmanship to Robert D. and me which we wore proudly on our chests. I was thrilled to finally meet Stephanie as well as David K., Seema U., Dignant D., and others in person.
Cocktails were of varying strength depending on the maker. My favorite was the Bistro Lynchburg Lemonade (Jim Beam, Tea, triple sec, sour mix, and 7-​Up), with a good balance of booze and accompanying flavors. It was very effective. The sangria and Californacation (lemonade-​ish with Stoli) were quite refreshing. Of the appetizer bites, the Tuna Tartare was pretty tasty so I became a bit greedy and had four. The vegetarian offering of the cucumber bruschetta could use a little more flavor but was generally pleasant. The chicken wings were good so I didn’t mind getting my fingers dirty.
Kudos to Stephanie Y. and the rest of the Unilocal crew. I had so much fun and a memorably great time.

Another NJ Elite event thrown by our local superhero NJ CM Stephanie Y. was nothing less than a success. Last week the owners pulled the plug the night before for fear that the torrential downpour of rain would not bring out the full crowd, but if they didn’t know us by then then they surely know us now.
Jersey Unilocalers know that this not our first rodeo at City Bistro. Steph got us acquainted with this place back in March for her first CMYE during Unilocal Drinks Week. That was my first Unilocal event, so it’s quite fitting that I would return here for my first NJ Elite event. But I couldn’t come back and convey just how awesome an evening by myself so my boy Digant D. came me to witness the evening. Unbeknownst to me that would be a well played plan because not only was I too tore up to drive, but by the way that I was staggering out of there I was too buzzed to bus.
The night started at 7:00pm sharp and NJ Unilocalers came out in full force to represent Hoboken. City Bistro is 3 stories of fun which each level increasing in coolness as you reach the rooftop. And that’s how we roll … the ENTIRE rooftop was closed off to the public. Unless you were Unilocal Elite or lucky enough to get the nod to be a +1, this was off limits. Security was held tight by Jando S. and Ruggy J. working the door. It’s always great to see the Manhattan and Queens CM’s make an appearance on our side of the river, especially when they’re holding the line against unwanted gatecrashers.
The staff from City Bistro out did themselves tonight! The bartenders were slinging drinks from behind the stick non-​stop. The Bistro Lynchburg Lemonade (Jim Beam Honey Tea, triple sec, fresh sour mix, 7-​up) was my drink of choice for the night. I can’t quite say exactly how many I had, because I stopped counting after my third one. I wasn’t driving, so why should I stop there? It wouldn’t be an event without a round of shot going around. Louis R. and Digant D., I salute you both for taking your shot of Jameson like true champs. I’m sure that everyone was in agreement that City Bistro was serving quality drinks because everybody in the house was gettin’ tipsy!
Although we were advised to eat before the event due to the food being a taste of their menu offerings, the food just never seemed to stop from being replenished by the staff. The ceviche shooters made for great impromptu shots to salute your fellow Unilocaler. I must have had four of those shooters and with enough goading I could easily have taken down that whole table. But does anyone really want to be THAT guy? The Tuna Tartare (Ponzu vinaigrette, mango & avocado salsa, seaweed salad, wasabi aoli, crispy wonton) was light and refreshing. All of this fish and everything tasted like it was caught that day and served for our pleasure. The Braised Short Rib Nachos (Bleu corn tortilla, pico de gallo, escabeche jalapenos) brought some heat into the mix to show that these guys really know how to cook with some real spice. Even simple bar classics like Chicken Wings (Traditional or sweet garlic teriyaki) were cooked to perfection with lots of meat on them bones. No scrawny chicken legs in this hen house!
All good things come to an end and this Elite event was no exception. It was as if God Almighty needed to tell us that the event was over because shortly before 9:00pm it began to rain down on our rooftop party. Leave it to Steph to think of everything … the second floor was also reserved for us and the bar was fully stocked with ice and liquor. Without missing a step the bartenders shifted gears and moved the party downstairs. Being a married man with a curfew it was time for to bid adieu to the fellow Unilocalers that I had met before and to the new ones that I had met tonight.
They say that strangers are friends you have yet to meet. With a cool crowd like this there was not a stranger in sight. Another successful Unilocal event for Stephanie. You’re our Jersey Superhero!

Look up the sky! Beautiful weather but wait, drops of rain? No worries, we won’t let rain dampen our spirits. Just move downstairs and continue the fun.
Great drinks– I really enjoyed the Sangria and the lemonade? When life gives you lemons, add whiskey apparently. Who drinks lemonade without some alcohol? We were young and naïve as kids. Kudos to the bartenders too; professional, quick, and friendly!
Great appetizers/​tapas as well– really dig the ceviche shooters but the beef with the cheese and toast stole the show.
Overall, great ambiance on the rooftop bar. Great catching up with people, new and old. Seriously, I was a hermit at work so I can focus all my chakra and social energy for this event. Conversing with Unilocalers, especially those from Jersey, is super fun. I love how everyone is approachable, friendly, and just like to engage in a conversation. No one is a stranger in Jersey. Other boroughs in NY, please take note.
My head hurts, but it’s a good thing. Thanks for coordinating, Steph Y! Now, can Unilocal sign my permission slip so I can take off a day from work? Being social is tiring. First world problems, I know.

Good times. These events are a great way to actually meet people you «know» from online and also get to know other Unilocalers. This was a fun event. Not a crazy amount of people but I felt it was just the right amount. People were friendly and even though I didn’t know anyone coming in, I had a good time. I enjoyed the drinks. My favorite was the lemonade with whiskey. Bartenders were fast, courteous, and friendly. The food was a sampling of appetizers. Ceviche shooters, short rib «sandwich» thing, bruschetta on cucumbers, tuna tartare, and wings were all pretty good. Not mindblowing food but hey, it was pretty tasty and I was not complaining.
Thanks Steph! Another awesome event. Jersey Elites are the best! And we got Unilocal watches :)

Good people and good times up on the rooftop of City Bistro. The bartenders were super attentive and although there were problems with their new draft system and we missed out on some awesome NJ Beer Company brews, the Shiner Bock made due quite well.
I’m really digging the «State of the Art» Unilocal Elite watch they gave everyone. After this event my +1 wife has agreed to finally creating a Unilocal account.

What a great time!
