Bistro 1902

Service was good and prompt. For being a French bistro, it had no french ambiance whatsoever. Actually we would have walked out if it wasn’t for the prepaid Groupon. There were only 4 customers for a Saturday night, that should have told us all. The other restaurants were packed.
We ordered the house salad, a small portion but not bad taste, and the goat cheese salad, a larger portion that was not too bad.
For the main entrée we ordered the glazed salmon, and filet mignon. All portions were small. The salmon was only «1 inch» wide, accompanied by steamed veggies and wild rice. The wild rice was mostly white rice with a few grains of wild rice. Regardless, it was tasteless. The filet mignon hard and chewy, not what you would expect when you pay $ 33.
We had the house wine and it was really a cheap wine; you can get a headache with more than one glass.
Overall, we were disappointed, a very poor value for your money or time. We walked 1 block west to Kussify where we had a Dulce de Leche crêpe to erase the bad taste from Bistro 1902.

I’m going to make this short as I believe it is my civic duty to let fellow patrons know what a deceitful establishment this is.
They had a groupon deal for 4 for a price of $ 90. It included a $ 20 entrée for each plus a $ 5 appetizer, which all they had was house salad for that option. They had «unlimited wine» as well but we soon came to find out that it wasn’t unlimited in any sense of the word.
The server was late on bringing the wine for the birthday person, we overlooked that as we are not complainers.
When we received the bill, the server presented 2 different receipts. «This receipt is the original without the groupon!» she said. The receipt read $ 266. Then she followed by showing us our new bill with the groupon applied, which amounted to a whopping $ 90.
We analyzed the receipts and found that she was deceiving us by having her already automatically added tip reflect the «original receipt.» Never have I seen anything like that.
She modified the entry on her system so that wine would cost $ 21 each. On the receipt, we could clearly see that it was manually inputted since it read «wine fee.» So, every time we ordered another glass, she would note it down as «wine fee» and have her tip reflect that.
There is no way that unlimited wine means having to pay 18% on every glass that you order. That averages $ 4 on every glass that you order. They have you think that the wine is unlimited but in reality you’re paying $ 4 on every glass! that’s what other 3 star restaurants charge for their glasses of wine!
I will NEVER EVER recommend anyone coming to this very unethical and immoral restaurant. It is shady and the energy was disgusting there. I will NEVER take anyone here and this is certainly going to be one of my «must avoid restaurants» to anyone.

It wasn’t too bad. Got there at 10 am and they were still setting up the buffet. They did start serving us the bottomless mimosas. They told us that they didn’t have an a la carte menu on Sunday’s and that I made no sense to pay 17.99 for bottomless mimosas when the buffet was 25 including bottomless mimosas. The food wasn’t the bomb but it was okay.

What a great spot. Fantastic service. Amazing food. Was not expecting to have such a great experience, but I’m so glad we did. The owner could NOT have been any nicer. Nor could our server.
My suggestion: Order the Shrimp Risotto and Chardonnay. Also, ask for Chris as your waiter. You will NOT be disappointed.
Great independent restaurant and very much worth the inordinate amount of time to find parking. Will be back again for sure.

food is pretty good but this establishment is very shady, they do not honor their promotions and the owner is very rude and disrespectful. I would not give them my money as their attitude toward the people that feed their business over shadows anything they can cook. shamefull at best. stay away and take your money elsewhere. if you must give them your money please pay in cash .but for a quality evening go elsewhere.

My wife and I are vacationing in Hollywood and have dined out a number of times. We rank the Bistro 1902 food and service to be one of the best locally. I had the ribs with mashed potatoes and mixed cooked vegetables and my wife had the beef Boeut Bourguigon. Both very good but finally decided we preferred the ribs. Soup of the day was a sea food bisque which was tasty but on the salty side. For desert we shared an apple Tart Tatin which was excellent. Discount coupons are available on-​line. Looking forward to returning.

Very disappointed. We went with a gift certificate which was for the special 2 salads, entrees and unlimited wine. There were 7 of us. We were told we cannot use the restaurant special for the rest of us if we used the gift certificate… ok so just use the monetary amount that was paid for the certificate –as that was already paid for and in the account of the restaurant — off on our bill. We were told no we cannot use two promotions together! The owner came over and said ‘just read the sign on the window’. How rude is that!!! We got up and walked out! Had a great dinner at LaVendetta and our bill was over $ 300! So you missed out Bistro 1902… we will not return.

Decided to buy a groupon for sunday brunch which came out to $ 59 with unlimited mimosas. Now i may have expected something a little bit better at $ 30 per person for a brunch. When we arrived the place was pretty empty which was to our surprise being we’ve gone to may brunch areas and have always seen a cery big crowd. This is suppose to be a french restaurant, mind u all the waiters were brazilian. LoL anyways we sit down and they serve us our mimosas, a little watered down but no prob, we then proceed to go up and grab our food since it was buffet style. There was very selections to choose from. Almost felt like a buffet at some american hotel. Again i was expecting much more at the supposedly $ 59 price per person advertised and then discounted to $ 59 for 2 people on groupon. Food was ok nothing to brag about. What bothered me is that people were coming and there price for the buffet including mimosas were $ 25 per person which wld be $ 50 for 2 ppl instead of our discounted groupon at $ 59 for 2 ppl. When finished were were obligated to pay the tax and tip which was another $ 16. So basically paid $ 70 for a standard breakfast at a standard place. Left feeling cheated! Either way dont get the groupon just go straight there no need for reservation as place was dead and time was 12 noon. So many places to eat brunch with views and more food to choose from for the same price if not less. Hope this review helps.

Went for brunch and it was mediocre. Very limited selection of American style breakfast foods. Only the eggs Benedict were decent but they didn’t toast the English muffins. The french toast was limp and all was in chafing pans that we’re not being
they also add 18% tip on the full bill even tho we had a Groupon and the only service we had was pouring us a single cup of coffee.
Don’t go to their brunch unless u have a Groupon and even then you get a better breakfast at Ihop.

Physical altercations with customers from owner.
So, third visit was not anywhere near the first two.
Yes, we did Have a groupon. We were told right away that our groupon would be honored but with modifications
Our waiter was fine.
20 mins in and half way thru our salads. We were aware of a situation a few tables down, to make a long story short, the owner (female) got into a physical altercation with a customer, WTH!!! We told them we were leaving.

Service was amazing. Our waiter Marcelo was fantastic food was so fresh so delicious would definitely come back here

Inwouldnjave written a reive but didn’t get to go to the restaurant. I called to make a reservation and mentioned I had a groupon
I ask If they had the special the person on the other end of the phone said it wasn’t available until the next day So again I ask if I could choose anything from the menu because the groupon was expiring that day.
His reply hang on «that’s what you get for not using your coupon sooner»

I have visited Bistro 1902 twice already both on occasions of having a Groupon. My most recent visit:
It was a Thursday evening and we walked in to a very full and loud dimly lit restaurant and were immediately greated by a gentleman who seated us to a booth. As soon as we took our seats he took our drink our drink orders. I looked around and you can notice all the French flare to the restaurant. Pictures of the train station stops. French quotes and pictures of landmarks like the Eiffel Tower. The server returned with our drinks and he told us the specials.
Food:
We ordered the steak duo special and the surf and turf special. The food came out quickly and the plates looked very appetizing. Each plate came with roasted vegetables and potatoes au gratin then I realized he never asked us what we prefer our sides to be. I dont normally like potatoes au gratin so I was a little disappointed. The roasted vegetables were nice and the potatoes were ok.
After trying each steak, a ribeye, a filet, and a ny strip we noticed that they all tasted very similar. They all had the same sauce and didnt give each steak a distinct flavor sadly. The lobster was very good although very heavy on the cream sauce. The portions however were great, we were both very full afterwards.
Dessert:
They have many desserts to choose from including macaroons, tiramisu, almond cake, 3 flavors of crème brûlée, and more. We decided to go with a traditional vanilla crème brûlée which was good.
Service:
I think the best part about my experience here was the service. Everyone frome our server, food runner, and host were very nice and friendly. Our server came by several times to check up on us to see if we enjoyed our meal, and striked conversation.
To be honest i probably would have never came to this restaurant without a groupon deal and wouldnt return without one. I think for the price you would expect a bit more.

This is my second time coming here for a meal. First time was to use the groupon, which i never used because they were out of the food. And, not to mention, they didnt have the champagne that was offered with the groupon meal. We had to have wine instead. Not complaining about that.
However, today my family and i ate brunch at this restaurant. We end up doing the buffet.
I wasn’t at all impressed with the buffet food. The eggs were a little cold and the bread was hard as rocks. The bacon and sausage were great, though. And the chocolate brownie/​muffin was the bomb! Accompanied with bottomless mimosas.

The good: The host greeted us promptly and we were seated promptly. He even gave me a back pillow (which I did not ask for). I ordered a mimosa, it was very tasty. Not too strong or too weak. For brunch I ordered the Steak and Eggs. The hash brown were very good. My boyfriend orders the French Toast with Bacon and Eggs. His French Toast wasn’t bad at all.
The bad: I asked to substituted the eggs with my Steak and Eggs. The waiter said that I couldn’t, not even for an up charge for the side I wanted. I was annoyed by this because I’m paying for something I don’t want. The steak I ordered was tasteless. I had to ask the host for steak sauce since our server disappeared.
The ugly: The table next to us finished their meal and left. The host dusted the crumbs off with his hand, after noticing that I saw him he came back with Windex to clean the table. Seriously?
Bill came to about $ 35. Left a GENEROUS tip of $ 10

. I usually order the Salamon but on this occasion I ordered the New Strip Special in a Mushroom Sauce. It was good but certainly not $ 32.95. All in all Bistro 1902 is an excellent option in a super competitive market,

I came here on July 4^th for dinner with my friend. We wanted to do something low key, at a restaurant with good reviews, and order alcohol that wasn’t priced excessively high. I looked on Groupon for a while, and found Bistro 1902. Our deal cost between $ 30 – 40 because I purchased it during a Groupon sale, and it didn’t include the tip. It included two surf and turf dinners, a garden salad, unlimited bread with olive truffle butter, and unlimited wine or champagne. You really can’t beat this deal.
The olive butter was so rich and delicious that regular butter paled in comparison. The salad came with balsamic dressing, but I’m sure you could request something different. The surf and turf featured a 4 oz lobster tail, 4 oz steak, and grilled vegetables. The lobster tail was in a white, creamy sauce, and the steak was in a brown creamy sauce, similar to one with a mushroom base. You had the option to upgrade the weight of your steak/​lobster tail for an additional cost, but we were satisfied with the 4 ounces. The lobster tail was so succulent and delicious in the creamy sauce, vegetables, and steak were perfectly cooked, and our overall experience was great. I had cabernet and my friend had pinot noir, and both came in large glasses and portions. We felt welcome to stay there long after our meal as the wine was unlimited, and the service was fantastic. You are able to order this unlimited option for $ 14 on the regular menu, and they offer many other delicious options like truffle fries, but if you can get the Groupon deal, it’s fantastic. I can’t wait to come back here.

If you’re thinking you’ll be satisfied with a plate, think again. The portions are painfully small. The mimosas tasted just right though.
They say the French are rude and I concur. The service was mediocre at best… Food came quickly but don’t bother asking for medium rare. Keep expectations low.

I wouldn’t call us regulars but we take advantage of the Groupon frequently. There is a variety of Groupons available for whatever your taste is.
Get them now because they are going to their own reward card — which had great deals as well.
This visit we started with the frog legs — OMG yummy! Fried to perfection and sitting on top of a light delectable herb pesto oil. It started the meal of just right!
My amazing gf and I both had the surf-​n-​turf… steak and lobster. The steak was cooked exactly to order. And the lobster was melt in your mouth yummy yummy goodness! The steak came with a brown gravy and the lobster topped with a white cream sauce ’ they complemented each other divinely.
We will ABSOLUTELY be returning — especially since we purchased a rewards card, lol.
We read some of the negative reviews and have NEVER experienced and of the issues other people complain of. We HIGHLY recommend this decadent restaurant for your next dinner!

I purchased a Groupon and would have probably never gone if I didn’t get the deal I did. I went with my friend to brunch and the food was average. After watching some of the employees go about their daily duties, I got a little disgusted.
Spill something on your table cloth? They would take them outside and shake them out before turning it over and replacing it on a table. Yep, they had cloth napkins too…
You wanted toast? The servers cooked your toast for you and I didn’t see a sink close enough that they washed their hands before they took it out from the toaster and plated it. Who knows what happened behind the area that I couldn’t see.
Maybe I just caught them on a bad day… but they have promoted their restaurant on groupon for over a year so maybe that should’ve been a sign.
