Yum! The BF and I stumbled upon this place while on a trip to Hollywood beach. It’s located in a publix shopping center and somehow stood out even though it’s kind of tucked away. The BF has a special radar for middle eastern cuisine. I ordered the falafel combo with 5 pieces, a side of rice(3 options) and a choice of salad(about 5 options) all served with a side of hummus and pita bread. The BF ordered a shawarma chicken wrap, a bean and meat soupish thing, grape leaves, and a small meat pie. We also shared a piece of baklava — topping the bill at less than $ 25, not bad! I loved my angel hair rice and the hummus with falafel was delicious. The large piece of baklava was also verryyyy good! BF raved about how authentic the soup was, stating the chef had to be from Jordan because it tasted JUST like his mother’s. Service was spot on — the girl behind the counter was very helpful and let me mix salads because I couldn’t decide. The chef was actually Syrian, but apparently their food style is similar to Jordan and Palestine, who knew?:) The restaurant does lack aesthetic appeal and it seemed like it belonged in a… nicer? area. It is set up like a buffet and they also sell minimal groceries/snacks. If this place were closer, we’d definitely go back but it’s not worth the drive when there are delicious options closer!

OK, just went back there a few weeks ago. After all, service is great, they are always sweet, and the shwarmas are fantastic. But something needs to be done about the scum-bags that keep wandering around over there. Some skymey guy came in to use the bathroom, the server wouldn’t let him, he started swearing and making a huge scene, she started swearing and making a huge scene, and it was ugly. I tried to be nice about it. But it was a bit uncomfortable to say the least. This dude definitely looked like thug material and I was half expecting a shoot out. They called the cops, and some bored looking cat in a cop suit shows up, shrugging his shoulders, unable to do anything. This is the Muglix mall after all, whaddya expect? Hollywood is a nice place but there are some pockets of scum-bagginess, and this unfortunately is one of them. If I order from them again, it will be delivery only. I’m not going back in.

Food is fresh and good. The lady who hekped me was awesome — I think I sampled nearly everything before making a decision.

Went there on a recommendation for lunch had the mixed grill lunch special. The Taboulli consisted of too much mint not enough lime and shredded lettuce instead of parsley. Rice with lentils was good chicken kabob made to order was spiceless the pita bread was so so but THEBEST Babaganough I have had in years… there might be a few gems here but I think its YMMV

Four stars for the food. We won’t rank the décor as there is none! We enjoyed everything. It was delicious. We had the chicken drumsticks(not sure of the name), mediterranian(sp) salad, hummos, chick pea salad, tabouleh and a yummy honey and nut dessert. We felt prices were reasonable, people were friendly and helpful. We just really enjoyed all the flavors. Here are the negatives: they use canned black olives(yuck) and the chicken had a LOT of tiny bones, and while the place is very clean it is depressing in the lack of décor or charm(to one of us – the other didn’t care). Overall, we’ll go back, probably this week.

I checked out Taboulli this thursday and I was pleasantly surprised. I love Middle Eastern Food and was excited that I had another spot to check out in Hollywood. I ordered the 5 ball falafel with rice and lentils and a small portion of hummus. The falafel and the rice were flavorful and yummy. It was my first time trying the rice with lentils and it’s definitely a new favorite of mine. However, I was very disappointed with the hummus. It was completely devoid of flavor and the texture was too thin for my liking. It’s a new restaurant so hopefully they’ll improve it. They had several dishes that piqued my interest so I’ll definitely be back to try them out. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They also offer a wide range of middle eastern sweets and snacks. The restaurant is very new and is a welcome addition to downtown Hollywood.

This is a new restaurant in Young Circle, in the Publix shopping plaza. My friend who lives in Hollywood saw their ad in Clipper magazine, and immediately told me about it since she knows I’m always in the mood for middle eastern food. The restaurant is quite large and sparse inside, and their menus are on large LCD TVs. You order from a cafeteria-style line, and they dish it out and give it to you on a tray. The employees were quite friendly, and insisted we try any of the items we were interested in before buying them, to make sure we liked what we ordered. That was a huge plus for me, and a welcome surprise. I was going to order the tabouli, since it’s one of my favorite dishes. But once I tried it, I thought it was too dry for my liking. I ended up ordering the yogurt and mint dip, and a falafel pita wrap. I asked them to put hummus in the wrap instead of the tahini dip, and I said i didn’t want the tomatoes or pickles. I got the hummus, but I also got the tomatoes and pickles, which were easy enough to pick out. We had a little difficulty paying the cashier because I don’t think they’ve quite figured out their register system yet. But it didn’t bother us, and we were soon sitting at a table enjoying our meal. My friend ordered a chickpea and chicken soup dish, which came with rice and angel hair. It was a very interesting dish that I’ve never seen before, but she loved it. My falafel wrap was delicious, and the best of the few falafels I’ve tried from other Mediterranean restaurants. Also, for anyone interested — they told us they deliver(up to 6 miles away), in case you want something other than pizza or chinese :) I’m very happy we tried this place, and I hope they do well here. I will certainly be back the next time I’m in the area.
