A few points to keep in mine when dining here: (1) There is a huge selection of grilled cheese sandwiches. They range from the basic grilled cheese sandwich to options such as a Cuban sandwich and many other options. One example which we did not have is the cordon blue, which is Swiss cheese, ham, and turkey. The Cuban sandwich was good. We both had one. The version with Italian bread was very good. The version with the Portuguese roll was better — give it a try. (2) The default side dish with the sandwiches is a cup of the tomato bisque. It is very good, not too strong in flavor but very good. (3) Although the lunch menu does not say so, you also get a small order of homemade corn chips and salsa. Excellent, crispy chips and spicy salsa that make for a nice touch. (3) You can substitute fries for the bisque and chips. The fries are not seasoned, come with salt on them, and are quite tasty. Eating outdoors is a nice feature in the interesting town of Homer(or is it a village?).

Such a quant historical pub! Absolutely loved coming here and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and creativity of the food! Their seafood was unexpectedly fresh and delicious! The real hidden gem of this place though is the chocolate mousse! My mother has chocolate mousse at almost every restaurant we go to and let me tell you she and I agree this is one of the best we’ve ever had! This place is a must try. A hidden gem in a beautiful area of NY.

Great place. Very close to Cortland college. The choices of grill cheese sandwiches makes it a good choice alone. Very comfortable, warm and friendly. Good beer selection. A definite must…

If you’re in the mood for good food and fine service then this is a great place to come! We joined some friends for a nice Sunday meal and everything was great! We shared a veggie pizza to start followed by burgers, salads, fish & chips. The meal was topped off woth coffee and a shared apple crisp. The waitress was very attentive and eager to make a real perfect, she brought me plenty of extra lemon for my fish, catsup and whatever else we requested. I’ll be back again soon.

I absolutely love this place. I am new to the area and I brought my mom and sister here for all of our first times at dashers. I really wanted to make a good impression for my family and I was terrified because I had no clue were to go. The patio is what caught our eye so we stopped in. We were all blown away, the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable but it’s still upscale in a really interesting way. And the food was way more than I expected from a pub. My 11 year old sister doesn’t usually eat much but she gobbled down her whole burger. My mother got steak and I got the lobster chicken pot pie. Everything was great. It’s hard to find nice places in this area but Dashers Pub is the place to go if you want an interesting fun experience and splurge a little bit on amazing food. I can’t put a price on quality and great service.

This place is great. The food is always really good. The steaks are by far the best around. The atmosphere is great and the staff is always super friendly. If you haven’t tried this place yet then go try it tonight.

A great addition to Homer. Rustic renovated location right downtown. Across from stores. We started with chips, clam chowder, and pâté Clam chowder was authentic and came with two clams Pâté was homemade with a tinge of mustard Mac and cheese was good – almost too cheesy! Philly burger sans mushrooms was quite messy London burger was sizable and tasty. Ended with apple crisp and cheesecake.

Dashers offers a melting pot menu from around the world. In just one entrée you could have half Italian, half Mexican. For example I ate the Sicilian sandwich with a side of tortilla chips and salsa… interesting combo. Do not order the Utica greens as they are very soupy and nothing like true Utica greens. Overall, average food but very very nice service staff and atmosphere.

Tried this place for the first time on a Sunday evening. We had a party of seven and no reservations, but that wasn’t a problem and we were seated in a c-shaped booth in the back of the bar. I ordered a Tom Collins and a put in an order for a Sizzling Potato Chip Platter for the table. The Tom Collins was well made and was tasty. We all looked over the menu and tried to decide what we wanted. We had to google what«lyonnaise potatoes» are because the steaks come with them and a vegetable(they’re sliced pan-fried potatoes and thinly sliced onions, sautéed in butter with parsley). I ordered a Delmonico steak with sautéed mushrooms. The Sizzling Potato Chip Platter was served on a cast iron skillet. The chips were topped with blue cheese and bacon. I didn’t actually expect the platter to be sizzling, but I guess I did expect the chips to be warm. Not only were the chips cold, but the cast iron skillet was cold as well, even though it had one of those protective sleeves on the handle and was on a wood block. Although the chips weren’t hot, they were tasty. I think they would have been great if they had been served warm. It took about 45 minutes for the entrees to arrive at the table. This surprised me because the place wasn’t that busy. I understand good food might take a while to prepare, so I wasn’t upset. When the food arrived it looked great. The presentation was very nice. We all dug in with gusto. Four of us had ordered steaks and we all noticed that the toppings on the steaks weren’t hot. Some were cold and some were warm at best. The steaks weren’t hot either. They were warm. They were properly cooked and tasty, but not hot. In fact, everyone except one person said their food was only warm, not hot. This leads me to believe that the kitchen had a little trouble with one dish and that they either had to do it over, or it took much longer than they anticipated. Thus, the other dishes sat on the counter a while and lost some temperature. Maybe they don’t have heat lamps. This would also explain why the food took so long. I do think the prices are a bit high, but not outrageous. Perhaps if the food was hot and we had been blown away by the quality and deliciousness of the food I would think otherwise. I will give this place another try. I think there’s real potential here and I’m hoping they were just having an off night in the kitchen.

Had the seafood pasta plate as recommended, but was sadly disappointing. Clams and mussels had sand all in them which ended up all over the entire under sauced dish. Server didn’t know the menu or why to recommend either. Flies wouldn’t leave me alone and I was inside. Sad…

I have to agree with others now and say this place is really hit and miss. Service has always been good but we’ve not loved the food on the last two visits. When we were there earlier this week I had the pepper steak. It was more like prime rib but with the sauce on it, so it was fatty and had quite a bit of gristle running through it. We’ll probably give it a few more tries before giving up since it was so great the first time we went.

Had some good and not so good. This visit was on the good list. The tomato and mozzarella stack was huge and delicious. I will definitely be getting that again! Grilled cheese and tomato bisque always a great combination. I tried the Californian this visit, good flavor but would think the cheese should actually be melted on a grilled cheese. Love the avocado on it.

The best quality food you’ll find around cortland. All fresh ingredients, freshly made, homemade desserts. And the service was great. Recommend the scallops(tonight’s special).

Great addition to Homer! Trendy upscale bar food with fun seafood choices. Loved the décor(light fixtures, homer wooden signs, etc.) and they had many beers on tap. Was excited to see the beer and wine flight options as well. I got the baked scrod and it was good. Buttery and large, but the scrod may have been a tad overcooked and I would have liked to see more cracker topping. I still ate it all and liked it though. The spinach on the side was way too spicy for me so I left it. Overall, it felt fun in here and the menu had a lot of choices so we’ll be back the next time were in town.

Hit and miss. Somehow they have the worst wings I’ve ever had, they are always sadistically over-cooked, and I like a crispy wing. Their burgers are good but a little pricey. Fries are great. Their clam chowder is sublime. We’ve had things here that were fantastic, and things that were just ok. For the prices, it should be better than OK. Very disappointed that they no longer serve beer from Cortland Brewing Company. Hence I save my money and no longer get anything to drink here other than water. Local businesses should support each other. We have had some fantastic meals here, and some that truly underwhelmed, so I docked them a few stars for high prices and uneven consistency of the food. That said, they are helping to revitalize downtown Homer and have a very wonderful vibe, and I appreciate them being here.

Dashers is a nice local find on my recent business trip. I sat in the pub area and my server was very attentive. To start ordered the caprese salad, was pretty good. They added a twist with goat cheese and mozerrella on a bed of arugula and spinach. The sausage stuffed portobello mushroom came next. It was on the greasy side. Didn’t care for the sausage at all. It was topped with a spinach and broccoli mix, wasn’t sure if the two pieces of broccoli were intentional or not. Overall didn’t care for this dish. Had the 8 oz tenderloin topped with mushrooms and truffle. Was cooked to perfection! The down side of the main at first impression was the skimpy veg portion, but upon trying them they tasted burnt and I didn’t finish my 5 – 6 green beans anyway. I’d eat here again if I was local, but they need to do something about their sides, because they’re not good.

Went here a few times and the food was pretty good, although very expensive. But worth going back to. The last time we went we got a few steaks, which were the worst cooked steaks I have ever had. Our muscle appetizer seemed like it was left out and the muscles were bad. And the bill came to over $ 300. Emailed them to figure out why it was so bad the last time and never heard back.

Food portion was so small it was disrespectful. Especially for the price charged. But it’s a small town, I guess I expected more. Kind of trashy yet friendly staff.

Excellent food, great prices and friendly service, highly recommend if your in the area. The restaurant has a real home town feel. Fun classy and clean. Service was fast, friendly and not pushy. Prices are very reasonable and worth it. The clam chowder is excellent– they have an original take on it. I had the lobster roll– I must say one of the best I’ve had. They do not kill it with sauce– just the right amount– bread is toasted, and served with warm chips. The Lobster is fresh and you can actually taste it. It annoys me when a lobster roll is all sauce and no lobster. The shrimp strawberry salad is also tasty with fresh greens, and large shrimp. Great food, excellent service and a must if your in the area!

I came on Unilocal just to write a review for this place. My friend and I were driving back to the city from wine tasting in upstate NY when we randomly got off an exit and found this restaurant through my Unilocal app. For a small town, we were so impressed by the place — a local pub atmosphere with bistro quality cuisine. There’s about 10 different grilled cheese options(like bree with candied walnuts) and even great oysters! I had their clam chowder, which was amazing along with a crab cake that was full of meat and lightly fried — just perfect. They also focus on keeping it local by sourcing from regional farms, breweries and wineries. I highly recommend Dasher’s!
