Arrived on a very busy Saturday evening(basketball tournaments in town) and was advised the wait would be 30 — 45 minutes for a table for two. Surprisingly, we were seated in approximately 20 minutes. The service was extraordinary with Randall offering his expertise and recommendations. The shrimp was the perfect«bang» for the buck. At Randall’s suggestion, I ordered the shrimp as my entrée(only on the menu as an appetizer) with two sides and a house salad. My husband and I split the salad for a delicious start to our dinner. The garlic whipped potatoes were delicious as were the green beans. The sweet potato mash was too smoky for my taste and was cheerfully replaced with delectable au gratin potatoes. It was a memorable dinner, and we look forward to returning soon. Special thanks to Randall for a delightful dining experience!

Our waiter Quinn was friendly and checked in just often enough. The food was delicious. The bread smelled heavenly and was so yummy. They went a little overboard on coating the Ahi Tuna Sashimi with seeds. The soy sauce masked the seed flavor enough, though. The sweet tea was perfect. The bacon was a little well done on the Bacon-Wrapped Scallops. Quinn wanted to make sure I liked the scallops – they were beautiful and perfectly done. I guess not many people pull the bacon off and just eat the scallops! The trout was good too. I’m glad I got the sauce for it, rather than just the lemon. It’s a fish that needs sauce. We were offered dessert, which we declined, and after we paid, another waiter walked by carrying coffee. I wish we had been offered coffee! I just didn’t even think about it. Oh well, maybe next time.

I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. We went there after a movie with out of town friends, I put our name on the list and was told there was a 30 minute wait. We were in the bar area having drinks and talking. At 45 minutes I noticed a booth had come available in the bar area and all the others before us had been seated. I went to ask about the booth and was told he had already told the people who had just walked in the door they could have it. No apology was offered by the person taking names at the podium or the manager who was standing there at the time. All that was said is we made a mistake. We left and won’t be going back.

Had the large portion of the seared ahi tuna and a side of steamed asparagus. Really enjoyed it. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. Was in and out with very little wait.

After having a delicious lunch with friends — Fresh Cobia with Rai’s topping I believe. — Awesome. My friends had the Bam Bam Shrimp Tacos and raved about them. The added pleasure was our waiter Todd Minch who is and has been a long time staple there. Best waiter in town! The Manager came by and made sure everything was perfect more than once. Great place to eat!

2.5 it is what it is. I primarily go when I travel because it’s a safe(albeit uninspired and pretty mediocre) bet. Each time I go I try something else just to switch it up, but my overall impression is always the same. This go round I had the trout(so boring, I told my partner that«it tasted like punishment.») The crabcake app I ordered was pretty mediocre as well but better than the trout. Meh plus. I’ll go again out of convenience but that’s about it.

I think there are so few quality seafood restaurants in Birmingham that mediocre seafood passes for good. I’ve had a few decent dishes at Bonefish. If you’re looking for fresh quality seafood prepared with flawless execution you might venture over to Ocean, Chuck’s Fish, or one of Chris Hastings endeavors. The price isn’t as different as you might think. The quality of server in this establishment dissipates with each visit, to the point that I’m uncertain I will revisit. Rude servers with bad attitudes poison a dining experience for me. I personally witnessed a server talking down to an older gentleman and his grandson because they were paying with a gift card. This is highly unacceptable and completely uncalled for. Despite the servers perception a lot of people from all walks of life receive gift cards and in most cases the use of which does not negatively impact your tip… You only have yourself to thank for poor tips which are in direct correlation to poor attitude and service.

So I read the reviews on Unilocal and thought I really have to give this place a try. As we walked in the hostess was happy and polite. We got seated. Well we had to tell them that our seat was dirty, the girl looked at me and said is it really dirty or just some? I looked at her and asked her if it mattered? She says ok I’ll be back and she takes a wet rag and wipes down our seat. Well wet seat but we went ahead and sat down. As we were seated the waitress came and since I love oysters and it’s on the menu I asked her, what type of oysters are they? She said she thought they were from Jersey but she will go and find out. Well she came back and said yes they are from Jersey. I said I was wondering what type are they not were they were from, I told her I asked her because the price of the oysters were higher than what I normally pay for them, which I figured they maybe blue point. At any rate she had no idea so I just ordered the Ceviche. The ceviche was very tasty it came with some flavored chips and I’m sure the whole bowl was in the fridge because everything was cold. But I would definitely recommend this. As we were sampling the appetizer we noticed the other table had bread. So we asked somebody how can we get some bread? They said your waitress will have to bring it to you. I’m glad I asked because seriously the bread was amazing ! It was nice and soft and I love the dipping sauce. It was infused with olive oil and a dab of pesto! Which was my favorite. Its just a shame that our waitress didn’t offer it to us the first time. Sadly we had to see it on someone else’s table. But she later came and told us they were baking more bread which was why we didn’t get any to begin with. So I also ordered a drink that was only 6.00. Yes you read correctly 6.00. I thought it was going to be a week drink but it was not. It was rather tasty and strong. It was called an orange margarita I think. Well now comes our main meal! I ordered spicy Tuna. I honestly wasn’t a fan. It was cooked perfectly but it was paired with not so tasty sauce. The sweet sauce does not compliment the Tuna. I had to ask for soy sauce and sirachi which made everything tasty lol my husband ordered the chicken. The chicken was dry but the goat cheese and topped artichoke made it a little tasty. He also ordered steam broccoli but wasn’t able to eat that because it was very mushy. My husband was not very pleased with our meal here and we laughed because I had to doctor mine. However it was still a great evening and we still left full. The price was beyond reasonable. I never have had a meal so inexpensive. Therefore over all I enjoyed the drink and appetizer here.

The restaurant appears upscale but it’s actually affordable. My friend and I had Sunday brunch and neither of us spent more than $ 15 for a decent amount of food. The complimentary bread was a nice touch. The service was very good. The food is average. The bang bang shrimp is supposedly the thing to order but because I was craving brunch, I went half way with having a Bang Bang Shrimp Eggs Benedict. It was sweet and nice, but not memorable. I’m not sure if the Hollandaise sauce drowned out the flavor of the shrimp. The Half-Pound American Kobe Beef Egg Burger was average. I prefer my beef medium rare and soft. It wasn’t as soft as I hoped it would be and there wasn’t as much flavor. I would still come back for the atmosphere and great service. The food felt like something I could have eaten anywhere else.

I always make it priority to have dinner here at least one night I am in town. The staff is professional and pleasant and the food is outstanding. Last night Randall was my server and he was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Had the bang bang shrimp followed by the grilled shrimp and scallops. Also had the scalloped potatoes and broccoli. Everything was excellent.

Service extremely slow took 50 minutes before we got our food. It was 20 minutes before we even got bread. The restraunt was not busy only 8 other tables occupied. We ordered pot stickers and oyster on the half shell for appetizers. The pot stickers tasted frozen, the were very small and not were not the best I have ever had. For the main course I had the seabass it was very salty. My husband ordered fish and chips and they were cold and grease soaked. Our daughter ordered the Fontana pork chop it was very dry. Not worth the $ 101.00 we spent for lunch. Don’t believe we will be back.

Delicious food with new, seasonal menu items all the time. The seafood always tastes fresh. Their chocolate crème brûlée available in the late fall and winter months is absolutely amazing! I would put it in my top three desserts in the city. Go early to avoid the crowd.

Nothing great about this place besides the bang bang shrimp. The service is blah! The food is so-so and super greasy. There was a time, I’d say I was a true fan, but now I feel the food and service are not consistent. Definitely have many better options available in B’ham.

I have dinned at Bonefish many times before and the food is always good. We started with the bang bang shrimp and it was wonderful . We ordered a Filet and a Ribeye. This was a terrible experience. Both were served rare and but were ordered med/well. The Filet was reheated and was still rare. The Ribeye is not a true Ribeye and I was given another steak and it was rare. The manager was not trained to do anything but apologize and agree that Bonefish has a chef problem. Do not order steak at this restaurant .It is so uncomfortable to complain about bad food when you know that it’s not going to be any better. Do we take a chance and go back, I will have to think about that a long time. This happened on my our Anniversary. I paid for my shrimp and was given a $ 25 gift card. Tip from a regular customer-change suppliers of your meat, order the real Filet and Ribeye. You can charge more for a better grade and get a trained chef to manage your kitchen, What would the owners do if this happened to them? So we headed to Jim n Nicks and ordered a couple of steaks to complete our evening. Everything was fantastic.

It’s 40 degrees outside in January… Why are the overhead fans on… who’s bright idea was that…

Love this place! Went for a late dinner with the wife. Had to gather some energy to fuel our trek to Toys R Us after. I had the sirloin and crabcake. The steak was ok, the crabcake, omg, it was perfect! Definitely going on my must order list. Service was outstanding. If you’re going, ask for Todd. Funny, courteous, took care of everything and made a good night a great one. Thanks Todd! Edit: Completely forgot my fave, the Bang Bang Shrimp. Order them. You’ll thank me later.
