We were initially supposed to go to Hugo’s for breakfast today but we saw on Unilocal, this restaurant, so we said what the hell. So we walk in and theres about two tables actually full, but we were being risk takers and all. I ordered he Traditional Eggs Benedict and my mother and brother both ordered Omelets. It took about 45 minutes or their eggs to come out, and honestly it was more toppings than eggs. Mine on the other hand took a good hour and a half to come out, and it wasn’t even hot! On top of that the potatoes were disgusting, grease dripping like crazy. But what got me the most was that this family had ordered a pizza, and the pizza was undercooked so instead of fixing them a new pizza, they just nuked it in the microwave, and gave it back to them. That was an automatic no-no. I will never come here again, it’s not the service, it’s the cooks!

Slowest service ever. Came here on New Year’s Day for a quick lunch with 8 friends. There were a few servers working and literally no customers in the entire restaurant. Our food literaly took 50min to be cooked and we didn’t even order anything special: burgers, pancakes, gyros, et al. Service, minus 2. The food itself isn’t as good as it looks. The gyro sandwich was huge at a decent price but after eating 75% of it, I began to feel sick, like I drank a glass of oil & grease. I felt terrible the rest of the day, as if my body could literally feel my arteries actively being blocked. Never again.

Oh man such a good find… Bf and I rolled on in around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and the place was deserted(we weren’t sure if we had the right place, as the sign for this restaurant says Biba’s Kitbar), but parking was really ample, so that was nice. The staff is really friendly and attentive and greeted us as soon as we walked in. We were also immediately impressed by ambiance of the place– I really dig the wide booths(adequate to seat probably parties of up to 8 or so) with the green-tiled tables; it puts a classy spin on your typical boring lineoleum diner. I got the lamb gyro with fries(9.99 I think), and the bf got the chicken enchiladas, with a side of black beans and rice. The lamb gyro was REALLY good– exceptionally tender meat, and lots of it, but personally as a recent convert to the omnivore lifestyle I would have preferred more vegetables… This one came with grilled onions and two thin slices of tomato. The portion of fries accompanying the gyro was INTENSE – three times as much as I would have anticipated for any normal side, but can’t complain :) especially not since these were seasoned to perfection and pretty addicting. We are definitely coming back another time(to sample their breakfast menu!) I love that this place serves breakfast all day. That was actually the reason we chose this spot originally, but by the time we got there we felt«lunner»(see second sentence of review) was probably a better bet…

Did I get a shock at Bibas tonight! New owners and a TOTALLY different menu. Gone is the great Greek food, having been replaced with what I’d call the usual«American diner fare». Prices have certainly gone up too! My favorite waitress is still there and she said that they can still do most of the things that used to be on the Greek menu, but it’s not mentioned on the new menu! A curious method of doing business: hope people will buy things they don’t know you sell. Hmm… ok. I had a cup of chicken noodle soup and the pulled pork BBQ sandwich. The soup was… let’s not mince words… awful! It takes work to screw up soup! It had a very weird and unappetizing flavor. It seemed canned and it was definitely room temp. Yuk! Avoid this stuff at all costs. On the other side of the coin, the pulled pork was delicious and there was honestly enough meat for two good sized sandwiches! The waitress pre-warned me it was«a bit spicy». It was certainly that. I like spicy food, so I was happy enough, but some BBQ purists might not be too keen on hot n’ spicy. Fries were quite good too. I’m not too sure about this new Bibas. Soup, sandwich w/fries and a Coke = $ 16.50!?! Ouch! I asked about the desserts, but they’re all bought in and not made there. Blah! I guess I’ll go back, but things have certainly gone downhill quality-wise at Bibas. What a shame :-(

No No NO! What the heck happened to our beloved Bibas Ones a Meal!!! A loyal customer since 1999, Im going to have to part ways with this place FOREVER. I cant reiterate enough how much Bibas Ones A Meal was my #1 spot for greek. When they moved to Montrose and Westhiemer, I still loved it but wondered why they moved – better location? Hmm. But, when that location’s sign turned into Theo’s…I knew there was more to the story. Then, this location reopened under a new name, Bibas Diner. Last night(fri) I persuaded a group of first-timers to come and try the Best gyros in Houston. Not only was I let down, my bf and entire gang were not impressed. First off, the menu changed completely. Prices were jacked up by over 2.50, they no longer have appetizers like spankopitas, kitopitas(sp?), tzaitki, cheeses, calamari, nothing!, no more calzones, no entrees like greek spaghetti lasanga. All they have are Diner foods. like a Denny’s!!! American food!!! So so sad. They didnt even bring us the pita strips with marinara sauce like we’ve asked. How retarded to not offer it then when we asked, said they will, but never did? Sigh. Our waitress, although very cute, young, and brunette, knew nothing about her employer. Not even something basic as what’s the difference b/w a gyro sandwhich and gyro platter. Im happy the owner wanted to spend money and upgrade his restaurant but I think it backfired with the Diner«look». I dont appreciate the black and white tile flooring nor the red seated booths. The homeliness of the old was much better. Never coming back.

Just got back from Biba’s. Don’t know how many times I have passed it and never knew it was there till I read about it in blok magazine. Got a combination gyro with lamb and chicken. It came full to the brim with meat. The spanakopita was a little overcooked but tasty. The eggplant copanata was excellent with tomatoes, olives, garlic, and capers. For desert had the walnut baklava which seemed to have almost too much philodough. The layout of the place very diner feeling. Clean, lots of black and white but not too much. Walls are not over busy with ornaments. Would definitely recommend them.

My husband and I went out without the kids to have a «nothing fancy» anniversary dinner. Armed with a $ 25 gift certificate(had to spend $ 35), I chose Bibas because I had a craving for spanakopita :) When we arrived at the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was a sign on the door stating that gift certificates from would no longer be honored by Bibas. I told my husband that I wanted to eat there anyway. We started off with the Greek Mezes plate — keftedes, dolmades and spanakopita. The spanakopita were to die for — creamy, cheesy, crunchy! The keftedes and dolmades were good, if a little bland — this was my first time to try them, so I’m not sure what they were supposed to taste like. My entrée was mousaka, my husband’s was a Greek gyro. The mousaka was scrumptious — very creamy. My husband enjoyed the gyro. I ordered the walnut baklava for dessert. I was not impressed with it — it was ok, but not the best baklava I’ve ever had. The place was practically deserted at 7pm on a Saturday, so we got a lot of personal attention from our waiter, very nice. I’ll be returning soon, treating my mother to spanakopita :)

Wow I am absolutely in love with this place. I’ve been here about 10 times since they reopened and I’ve only been disappointed once. I think the pizza is by far the best thing on the menu. The toppings are generous but it’s really the crust that makes it. Nice thin crust that’s crispy on the outside and chewy inside. It keeps its crispness also… doesn’t get limp and mushy like ahem… that place across the street. If you’re like me and have difficulty stopping, order the small, which is not on the menu but is a more reasonable size for one person. The gyro is huge and served so hot you can’t even pick it up for several minutes. You really can’t go wrong ordering one of these. Other good things to try are the pastitsio and the calzones. They’re both like a carb fiesta, but definitely worth the blood sugar spike. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend are the burgers. The burger I ordered was made from a frozen preformed patty and just wasn’t what I would expect at an establishment that puts out such reliably good food. I’m hoping that they will change(or hopefully already have) to fresh hamburger meat. This is the only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars. The staff at the restaurant is also quite nice and friendly. They genuinely make you feel welcome. One other thing to mention… The tzatziki sauce is good, and I’m not a Greek food expert, but I’m surprised that they use sour cream instead of yogurt. I definitely prefer the yogurt as it has that extra depth of flavor that the sour cream lacks. Biba, thank you for bringing back good late night food!

Pros: Open 24 hours; Friendly & Attentive Staff; Inexpensive foods Cons: Service kinda slow; not enough Greek food items on the menu Suggestion: Sit outside in the patio if weather is nice and breezy :) Recommendation: 1) Spanakopita(Super crunchy and flaky, filled with good amount of feta cheese & spinach. i love ‘em lil’ wedges!!) Better than Niko Niko’s! 2) Complimentary bread stix(pizza crust strips) that are also very yummy, and just ask for extra marinara dipping sauce, if needed, because that sauce is just great! 3) Greek Fajita(a lot of gyro meat and grilled veggie topped w/feta cheese, and served aside two slabs of warm pita bread and the cucumber yogurt dip) which is only $ 14.99 and huge enough to feed two ppl. I will return for the Spanakopita, and also to try the other stuff on the menu.

bibas — did you ever know that you’re my gyro… not only does bibas have the best gyro i’ve had in houston, it gyroically stays open all night to make sure that I don’t have to settle for mediocre food whose only claim to quality is its availability. i wish more late night spots were so exceptionally good. usually, you’re forced to judge after hours food on a ‘because its still open curve,’ but that isnt the case here. the food is amazing, and well prepared, and it’s really one of the most flavorful gyros i’ve come across. i dont yet understand the correlation between my perception of people’s friendliness at restaurants, and how much I had to drink, but the people at bibas are REALLY friendly. like, the friendliest people ever. I’ll go back during the day singing bette midler songs(you’re the tzatziki beneath my wings).

I used to go here after work when I worked at Birraporetti’s in RiverOaks(those were the days). The waitstaff was so friendly(one of the waiters always smacked me in the head with a menu, I guess that means thanks for coming back). They really do have the best Greek salad I’ve had in my life. And their spanakopita is a mouthful of flaky goodness.

After leaving a bar quite close to closing time on a Saturday night, a friend and I were hungry, so we decided to find a 24-hour restaurant and brave the after-hours crowd. There was absolutely no place to park anywhere near Katz’s Deli or One’s-A-Meal. I then remembered having passed Biba’s on West Gray, and that it’s open 24⁄7. I thought it strange that there was plenty of parking, and that the place was almost deserted after hours on a Saturday. Still, the restaurant was really clean, and the décor was very nice. I later found that there is a table and chairs in the men’s room, which was a bit odd! Apparently, the owners of Biba’s are either the same as those of One’s-A-Meal or related because the menus are identical – Greek food and American diner food. The only difference was that at Biba’s, you order at the counter instead of at the table. You then take a number placard to your table, and your food is brought out to you. I ordered the chicken souvlaki sandwich, and my friend ordered the traditional souvlaki sandwich. We also ordered an appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip with pita. We received our sandwiches a few minutes before the appetizer, but maybe the dip was more time-consuming to prepare. Both my friend and I agreed that the sandwiches were good. However, the fries that came with them were not edible. They had been seasoned so heavily, they were lethal! I like a lot of seasoning, but that was just WAY too much. I told the waiter, and he said he would be back with some better fries to replace them, but we never saw him again. We picked and picked to try to find even a single fry on each of our plates that was fit to eat, and we might have found a couple. We just left them uneaten. The spinach and artichoke dip was also good. The only problem was that it came with only a few small pieces of pita bread for dipping, so most of it had to be eaten plain. The guy who took our order at the counter and brought out our order(I guess he’s a waiter – we tipped him) was really nice but very unattentive. Before we left, there were only two parties in the whole restaurant, and he and the kitchen staff were just sitting around a table chatting and not paying attention to much else. I’m not sure how long this particular restaurant has been around, but I don’t see how such a large restaurant can afford to stay open all night with such lackluster business. Hopefully, it fares better at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This place is awesome! Went here twice this weekend! This is my new favorite 24-hour eatery in Houston! I had the gyro both times. It was huge and delicious! The meat was big and very tasty! Totally the best gyro in Houston! Although, I can only compare it to the one at One’s A Meal. But this one is definitely my favorite! Also, I love their fries! I think they’re seasoned with seasoning salt or something because they were not your typical bland un-seasoned fries. They were delicious! I also had the gyro calzone. I thought it was weird for a Greek place to have calzones on their menu, but I was so wrong! It was delicious! It was hot and greasy and filled with their awesome gyro meat! I gobbled it up! It’s definitely worth a try! I also tried their chicken kabob. It was kind of dry. It’s all about the gyro here! They also have Pepsi fountain drinks with free refills, so I had to go with Dr. Pepper. :) Please frequent this place as much as you can! I was there on a Saturday night, and it was empty! I would hate for this place to go out of business! We need aweseome 24-hour places like this in Houston! I will definitely be going back! By the way, if you want to call in your order, their phone number is 713−529−5880.

BIbas, Bibas, Bibas! My bff suggested this place one night after she got off work at midnight and it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship! The gyros(w/lamb) are delictable. I am not much of a lamb fan, mainly because it tends to taste too gamey for me but WOWZA… these gyros were da bomb! They are not skimpy with the portions either. I’m not sure if they normally offer complimentary bread with a dipping sauce but that hit my tummy in the right spot. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Parking on the side can be a bit dark and sketchy so be cautious. It’s a thumbs up for me! And did I mention it is 24 hours!

24 hr greek food?! Count me in. Came here one late night during the week. It was cold and I was hungry! I started out with some hot tea with lots of honey. OoO tasted so good. For appetizers we had the Spanakopita. First time I had this dish and I am a fan. For my entrée I had the Greek fajitas. Just imagine a plate full of chopped up gyro with strips of pita bread. Just a make it yourself kind of thing. I enjoyed it because it came with LOADS of meat. My gf had the traditional gyro which came with fries. That was a good sized portion but I was still more happy with my greek fajitas.

A Greek restaurant that’s open 24 hours??? Sign me up! I went with a group after Aggie happy hour where we had built up an appetite due to the fact that we arrived to late to get the free food.(*tear*) Our caravan pulled into Bibas around 9:30 and it was fairly empty. There was one waitress behind the register who was super sweet and helpful to those of us who were a tad indecisive. This indecisiveness was perpetuated by the fact that they serve everything you can think of at any hour of the day. Feel like breakfast at 10pm? Got it. Feel like a burger at 5am? No problem. I ordered the Greek burger, which turned out to be one of the best burgers I have ever tasted! They cook the patty medium and smother it in an olive spread and tons of feta cheese. Simply delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The rest of my group ordered as follows: one friend got the gyro, another the waffle and another the Greek omelet. All looked great and everyone was completely satisfied by the time we left.

The opening of this 24 hour Bibas came at a perfect time. The lack of consistency and realization that we were killing ourselves by eating crappy food in our last late night spot drove us a couple establishments over to this joint. I ordered the lamb gyro with fries. The price was a little high at $ 10 bucks. Once I got the food, I didnt feel so bad about paying 10 dollars. This was one of the best gyro plates Ive had in a really long time. The lamb was delicious and seemed like it was pretty good quality. Staff was friendly, service was quick, and the giant table in the middle made you feel like you were sitting at a medieval knights table. Cant go wrong with that.

It was a cold, dark night indeed when I saw the 24 hour glow of Bibas on West Gray had been shuttered. The once and future independent One’s a Meal moved out from this location to plant the blue and white flag on Westheimer, while Bibas retained ownership of this Montrose-area house. If you’re familiar with the previous incarnation, the layout is largely the same, however the décor has been significantly updated. The main space has been cleared out, with a few tables scattered about and one long dining table in the center on a stained concrete floor, with a view of the large, open kitchen outfitted in stainless steel and granite counter tops. The additional space, in what I think of as a «sidecar,» cleaves to its diner heritage and its former floorplan. The booths are all in their same locations, except where once were grimy upholstery and carpet now are shiny black and white tile and metallic fixtures. Mr. Bibas has apparently spared no expense. As for the food, Bibas offers up classic diner-style breakfasts and hearty Greek cuisine 24 hours a day. After stopping by a few different friends’ birthday celebrations, I decided to give the newly re-opened Bibas a whirl. Now, I must confess my partiality to One’s A Meal, but I nevertheless saw fit to patronize Bibas, you know, for research purposes. It’s science. I ordered their keftedes(meatballs) appetizer and a standard gyro as a basis for comparison. The meatballs were good, though not quite as robustly seasoned as I might like, and on that count I have to give the blue ribbon to One’s A Meal’s keftedakia. The gyro, however, was quite good, on warm, soft pita stuffed with the savory slices of lamb and beef, with onions, tomatoes, and a creamy tzatziki sauce. I shouldn’t have eaten this much at 3AM, but, what’s done is done. I’ll be interested to try some of Bibas’ classic Greek fare in the decidedly more upscale dining room, but the late night offerings still keep the place down to earth. The best of both worlds.
