Cool beers on tap outside seating and some nights there’s a taco truck parked outside to feed the drunk and hungry. Country music casual dress decent priced drinks. Not bad.

Wow! How do you run out of food at the BEGINNINGOFTHENIGHT when there’s a special event? Oh, and be understaffed. And take more than 30 minutes to prepare and serve nachos without melting the cheese? Generously giving 2 stars because the place is nice. But this place should stick to drinks if they can’t run their kitchen any better

This place is pretty cool, we came here because a friend won a happy hour thing here — basically you give your email to them and if you are selected you get FREEBEER8−11pm for you and as many friends as you want! They also have cheap shots(like $ 3 each during happy hour), and a bunch of games — four in a row, jenga, and corn hole. There is limited parking — they have like 4 spaces out front so if you get there early you may be lucky enough to snag a spot, but otherwise you will have to find street parking. It’s a popular place, it got packed on Saturday night! Fun place to chill and play games with cheap(and potentailly free) drinks! :)

This place is small and has a very tight knit following. The first time I went here, I engaged in various conversations with the bartender and other patrons who later bought me shots and called me family. The food is typical bar food, but pretty good. It’s not the most lively of the spots on Washington, but certainly a good time. I have been back a few times.

I went for Idol in the Heights to compete. I had a fun time I did not make it to the finals which is okay there is always next year. But the service let me tell you, I was going to put one star, but because of the singing competition it made me give it two stars. There was only one waitress for like more than 100 people, and she was terrible. She was slow, she was rude, she rolls her eyes, and she even charged on the credit card wrong. I don’t know her name, but she is tall skinny black hair straight. If you see her around don’t even bother ordering.

Decent place with a good atmosphere but they added drinks to my tab. My tab for 2 people ended up being exactly $ 100? I don’t think so

Chicken tenders!!! I happened upon this place back in the day when Kung Fu didn’t serve food and we needed something to absorb the alcohol while I was beating everyone at Jenga. We ordered chicken tenders to go from across the street. ‘Can’t go wrong with chicken tenders,’ we thought. But who knew we would be so right. They’re so tasty! And there are so many! Since then we’ve forgone Kung Fu in favor of Blue Moose at times. It really depends on when you go what kind of atmosphere you’ll get. Sometimes you’ll get country, sometimes top 40, sometimes hip hop, once there was a Mariachi band. I’m not really sure when you’ll find each of these, but I’ve never had a bad time. I will say though that the bartenders are hit or miss. Sometimes they’re nice and sometimes they have a touch of attitude. –1 star for that. Otherwise though, this place is solid.

I was invited to an Election watch night party by the Montrose and Galleria area democrats. i wore my «Texans fo Obama» t-shirt, but apparently the Bartenders weren’t feeling it. i was ignored by them and in the end charged $ 25 for one drink. They told me that I had already signed my tab(I had not) and I didn’t find out how much I had been charged until I went home and checked my bank statement. I had a great time with my fellow dems overall, but if you ever go here just bring cash. . Edit: Here is the note I got from my complaint on their website: Leila, The $ 25 was a pressurization NOT what you were charged and there is a sign right behind the bar that states that we do a pressurization on every card for $ 25. The pressurization is not your cost and will drop off in a few days. I own this bar(with my family) and we do not ask or care who any member of my staff supports on any election or in any other political area! I am sorry you feel this way but myself and my family who all run this place went out of our way to make this a great night for a great election. If the pressurization of $ 25 on your account is not gone in a few days please feel free to email me again. Thank you for coming to support your party Mark — — – I appreciate the prompt response from the owner, but I suggest that if you go here you just pay cash to avoid any confusion.

I have been to Blue Moose Lodge twice, the first time it was ok, with somewhat slow service, but you could tell the server was trying her best and management just under staffs the bar(apparently it is always understaffed, from reading other Unilocal reviews). However, my friend won a free beer happy hour so we all went back a second time, and it was just terrible. Free beer meant waiting for literally 45 minutes in between rounds. We thought that buying shots might get faster service, but no. In two hours the waitress literally came around twice for refills. The shots were all mixer and the beer was flat. Nasty tasting flat. Its not worth paying to park on Washington to go to this place. BEWARETHEFREEBEERHAPPYHOUR, ITIS A SCAM&RIPOFF! Also, don’t bother trying to express any concern to the management/owner of Blue Moose, she apparently believes it is professional to send very rude emails back to customers.

Not a fan of this place. The terrible country music(aka Zac Brown Band) is playing too loud and the cement floors send the music and the voices of others echoing around everywhere. The outdoor area is awkwardly shaped. I really can’t think of anything about this place that I like. It will probaly close soon.

Maybe its because I am not a Texan and I have lived in Southern California for the last 5 years, but I thought this bar/restuarant gave off a real odd vibe. The service was slow, the food wasn’t good, and the music sucked.

The best bang for your bucks? The chicken platter! You get a huge serving of tenders and fries for only $ 7!!! This place is super chill and did not have a crowd(or many patrons) on a Friday night. We swung by here for dinner and«pre-party» before hitting the actual«scene» on Washington. One of my buddies wanted to try their Moose Brew, which unfortunately, they were out of. It’s a decent lil’ place that looks like they have live music, but the evening I went, there wasn’t anything lined up. There are some parking in the front so take advantage of that if you can. Service here was okay, especially when we were the only table for a good hour or so.

It being my first time i really didn’t have expectations but my friends invited me to the Sunday craw fish boil. They had a live band outside on the patio. I really don’t eat craw fish so cant comment on that but the beer was cold and waitress were hot and helpful. Its a typical bar inside but seemed more laid back for being on washington. Over all for a Sunday it was great experience!

This is a great place for the winter months here in Houston. A cozy fireplace, tons of tables for all your friends, multiple beers bottled and on tap, and even some live music! It’s definitely one of a kind in this flat and typically tropical climate. The service was a bit slow, but I managed to rack up a hefty tab so I’m assuming it wasn’t that slow. The facilities were well lit and clean, which a lady like me also appreciates and there was sufficient eye candy all over the place! The pitfalls of this place are similar to any other place on Washington — the parking sucks. I’m not one to valet(I don’t like people touching my things without permission) so after a few rounds I was able to find off street parking about a block away. The age of the crowd was fairly young, but luckily there were very few tight tees and hair gel here. Also, they could use a dance floor. I was able to listen to a rockin’ Texas country band and had nowhere to scoot my boots. Now, that’s a problem!

If not for after party planner Mike W. I would have never ever stepped foot here in a thousand years, and totally miss out on such a fantastic little place. Thanks! Our waitress was super friendly but there is a small wait in between taking the orders and bringing out the drinks. The place was crowded so that may have been the reason. No worries though as I was enjoying listening to the band they had that night. It was upbeat country music, not the twangy my-car-broke-down-and-my-gf-stole-my-money kind. Thank goodness! I kept getting creeped out by the giant moose head by the wall but with a name like Blue Moose Lodge what can you expect? Trying to avoid looking at those beady eyes looking at me I noticed something pretty cool. The ceiling fans are shaped like giant flattened out moose antlers AND colored blue, I guess that explains the name! I had already indulged in food and drinks before hand so only ordered one cocktail. Can’t remember what it was call before, I think Blue Sky, 3 types of liquor one of which is vodka. It was too strong to work as a wind down before I go home drink so I pawned it off. It was also too strong for that person too. The point is, they don’t stint on their alcohol here, $ 8 will get you the stiffest stuff. Their smoking area have cute little tree stumps chairs and is right next to their front door facing the street. This only matters because I witnessed a couple of cars scraping their bottoms getting in and out of this parking lot. It’s steep, so beware! Didn’t sit by the bar so didn’t get to try their new space age technology but all in all, this is a cozy laid back little bar with decent drinks, service, and music.

$ 2 for a pint of Lone Star or Blue Moose. How can you complain? We stopped in on the way to Taps. Nothing too memorable about this place. It looks like they have bands playing on the weekends. I think they try a little too hard to make it look rustic because the place really looks brand new(because it is).

Today, we decided to explore a few new Washington bars and drove by Blue Moose Lodge! I u-turned and made a quick pit stop here. I’ve been wanting to try Blue Moose since I didn’t get to after the Unilocal holiday event. I walked in expecting to see a «cabin-y lodge» theme but it was mostly a huge room with moose/animal heads hung on the wall. I didn’t see the food menu, I guess they weren’t serving any bites that day or didn’t give us the menu. Service was pretty good, our waitress came by a few times to check on us. Then, I got the bill. Prices for beer sure as steep here! For 2 pints of beer(St. arnold’s lawnmower and a miller light), total was $ 13 bucks. That’s pretty high in my book for beer. If it was a nicer atmosphere that I was paying for, the price wouldn’t matter but it wasn’t that great… not for that price. I most likely won’t be coming back.

Not impressed. At all. Wandered in here last night after barcadias opening, and I wasn’t impressed. Bartenders were wearing biking shorts – ??? and fluffy fake boots. The girl that waited on us took her sweet time and 20 minutes later we had a beer, which would have been great but we ordered a vodka soda. The crowd was young(typical Washington) and full of people at a tacky sweater party. I liked the idea, and may try it again, but not a good first impression. Also, the bartender didnt know how to make a cherry bomb, FAIL.

Ain’t no party like a Unilocal after party ‘Cause a Unilocal after party don’t stop So when you see a young Unilocaler At the bar ordering shots, Then ya gotta give the Unilocaler his UFC props Lakeside Lodge got deep eddy at the bar and the band be bumpin, Blue Moose got the potion to get the party jumpin

Finally, a Texan inspired ski lodge on the West end of Washington! I know, I know… you’ve been lamenting this void that’s been lingering in the Houston nightlife scene just as I have. But I’m here to assure you, gentle reader, that there is respite at last. And it’s name: Blue Moose Lodge. Now maybe you haven’t been to a lodge, or understand the inspiration for why one should reside in Houston. But I ask you, why should the dearth of a single momentary pitch in the elevation of our landscape rob of us the joy that comes from a apres ski buzz? Are we not deserving of the warmth and comfort bestowed by a fire as tales of the day’s events mastering the range unfold? The best part is that it’s just opened in time for our momentary cold(er) spell, the second best is that you don’t need to worry about your parking break, de-icing, or snow tires. Inside the bar you’ll find freshly felled beams wrapping around a decent sized space offering tables in the middle, framed by a stage on one end and a well appointed bar on the other. I say well appointed when it comes to the bar because it has two key features that make it player in my book. Off the top, they feature Texas brews on tap and in the fridge. That’s something that’s commendable, but not necessarily unique. What kicks it up a notch and makes it go to 11 though is how your beer is served when you’re chillin at the bar; they have space age technology on the bar that keeps your beer cold. That’s right. There are metal inserts periodically around the bar that are kept close to freezing through a process known only wizards and the helpful staff @ Blue Moose. All you have to do is place your beer on one of them to keep it cold. The Blue Moose is the only place in this part of the country, I’ve been told, that you’re gonna find these. It seemed to work admirably on this trip, but I’m not sure I gave the delicious Stash on tap the opportunity to warm much. I didn’t take the chance to try the limited menu while I was there, but from what I read on the menu and saw being served, I’m looking forward to fixing that in the future. It’s supposed to be chef driven and changing, but I’ll leave that to update later. Overall this place does a good job of what it’s trying to accomplish: a lodge vibe with heavy dose of Texas influence. Drinks are affordable, there’s parking, but perhaps most importantly: the staff is incredibly friendly. I enjoyed my recent stay at the lodge and look forward to hearing some of the live acoustic bands and noshing on the promising grub. I’ll be back, so I’m leaving room to grow.
