Visited here during lunch time and it was pretty crowded. It’s pretty small but has some tables for you to eat at. The food is displayed buffet style for the crew to get for you. The prices are reasonable and you get a nice amount for the price. I got their catfish with potatoes and green beans and It was good and filling. I would definitely go back.

I’ve been eating there occasionally for 14 years. Everything is good, and their sauteed cabbage is VERY good. The best I have ever had.

This is a great healthy lunch, the grilled or rotisserie chicken, fish. Your choice of vegtables, broc, carrot, corn, cabbage, okra/toms. A few asian items on the menu and you have a fat fairly healthy lunch to go.

FANTASTIC food here. This has got to be one of the best restaurants down in the downtown tunnels. The place has been remodeled and looks very modern and clean. The staff are extremely friendly, answering your questions and accommodating to anything you ask for. This place is known for their rotisserie chicken, which is marinated and roasted fresh every single day. It’s got to be the juiciest and tastiest rotisserie chicken I’ve ever had, both white and dark meat. And it’s not even oily at all. Their other entrée options include meatloaf, one of my personal favorites. Tender and drenched in marinara sauce. The grilled chicken breast is also delicious. being chicken breast you think it would be dry, but the ones here are very juicy. On certain days they would have their famous chicken enchiladas, where crowds come in and line up every week, anticipating for it, hoping they could grab some before they run out. And they run out quick. They also have a mix of asian food, served with white rice, fried rice, or lo mein, like general tso’s chicken and sesame chicken. The Jalapeño chicken is my absolute favorite, crispy and spicy, but only made on certain days. A variety of sides can be chosen to go along with your entrée. My favorites being the roasted potatoes and broccoli. I love the broccoli here, since it’s actually crunchy and fresh, instead of most restaurants who make them soggy and drench them in butter and oil. The mac n cheese and cabbage are some good choices as well. Overall, if you would like an affordable and hot meal which will delight both your taste buds and stomach, you definitely need to check this place out.

Much like commanding a hungry hungry Nagini to consume Charity Burbage, this is a Thursday favorite I highly recommend for all to seek out for a face-stuffing meal of epic proportions. Why specifically mention Thursday you ask? The Thursday special is chicken and sausage jambalaya and it is so good — it actually derailed a trip to the Treebeards in the Tunnel. Now that is saying a lot. The line moves very quickly, if there is a line at all. And I don’t mean that in a snarky way — the guys behind the counter move quickly and prevent a build up. Meanwhile Which Wich enjoys just going as slow as a dimwitted trollop so the line builds and builds and it looks like it is super popular, when in reality it just takes about five minutes for each person to get their order to be understood that no I do not want pickles, I HATEPICKLES. Also — the people behind the counter here at Chicken Etcetera are nice, friendly, and walk you through the options if you are a bit unsure. If you go with the special you get a choice of brown rice/white rice/or lo mein noodles(why lo mein?) as the base and then the delicious jambalaya is piled high on top, then you select a side(mixed vegetables! Do it! Lightly seasoned and oh so tasty to dip into the jambalaya sauce overflow) and then some bread option — but skip the bread and go in favor of the cornbread. The cornbread is not Treebeards’ jalapeño cornbread but it is fluffy, slightly sweet, and reminds you of how much you like cornbread and how long it has been since you last indulged. Now comes the bad — no Diet Dr Pepper in the soda fountain. *gasp* FAIL. Coke Zero and Diet Coke are of a similar ilk of «gosh, nothing in life ever goes right, the flying spaghetti monster HATESME» as only a private school kid could appreciate. BUTGOSH, NOTHINGINLIFEEVERGOESRIGHTWHEN I WANTGOODFOODTOBEPAIREDWITHDIETDRPEPPER. This place suffers from the same terrible affliction as Bombay Pizza Co. and numerous other eateries that hate Diet Dr. Pepper and hold anti-DDP rallies in secret, complete with Coke and Pepsi propaganda literature and burning soda straws. The food is so good. On Thursday it is worth suffering a fate worse than death, drinking Coke Zero, to pair with the tasty food.

*Two star rating is a combo of the one star from my first visit and three stars from today’s visit* My first experience at Chicken Etcetera was pretty much the same as Alice’s.(But she left out greasy.) A co-worker mentioned going here often, so I questioned him & he said he gets the rotisserie chicken & sides. I’ve also heard their meatloaf is good. After my first visit, I was hesitant to go back. After a rough weekend, I wanted something comforting & healthy, but also had an unusual craving for mac & cheese too. Opted to give them another try. Not being a fan of chicken-on-the-bone, I ordered the ‘original grilled chicken.’ The friendly server looked a little embarrassed when he told me it would be about a 4 minute wait, but they just cooked more rotisserie chicken which is really good. He looked hopeful that I would be pleased with this option, so I took it. Like Alice said, the serivice is great. For sides I got steamed broccoli and the desired mac & cheese. It also came with a roll — wheat(or white). Total was $ 7.57($ 6.99 +tax). It was all good. Not great, but darn good. Chicken(white) was a decent size(not big, but not small) and was moist without being greasy. I even tried a bit of the crispier skin & it was good too. Steamed broccoli was cooked very well. Not drenched in butter or salt like other places. Mac & cheese was a thicker macaroni, which was fine with me. It was a bit salty for my salt-sensitive palate but overall good. All in all a good meal. Was ‘right’ sized — not too much, but not a stingy serving either. I won’t rush right back to Chicken Etcetera, but I also won’t be avoiding it like I have been after my first experience.

The rotisserie chicken with the sides look yummy. Unfortunately, I got the chicken teriyaki because I wanted some lo-mein noodles. They put the chicken on top of the noodles. Terrible idea, since both are salty and saucy. Two perfectly fine dishes just because one hump of nasty heaviness. Service was great though. Maybe I’ll come back to try the chicken or chicken sandwiches. This location is in the tunnels under the Shell Plaza. There’s another location near Main and McKinney under Bombay Pizza and next to Extreme Pita.
