It’s doubtful that anyone reading this has never been to a Denny’s. I could be wrong, but not likely. So what can you say about a place that most people are already familiar with? Not a whole lot. Denny’s is Denny’s. Wow, man — that’s like, deep… The food is very much middle of the road kind of stuff. Other than the breakfast items(eggs, omelets, pancakes), I could easily believe that everything else comes frozen or out of a bag. On this night, our waitress seated us promptly and politely took our order. Our food, which really just consisted of seasoned fries and a banana split, were delivered in under 10 minutes. The fries were crispy on the outside and seasoned well. I’m 100% sure they came out of the bag like that and just dropped in the oil. Still good. The banana split looked like a train wreck(see picture) but tasted quite good. I’d definitely order that again. In all, fast, courteous service, decent food, but the restaurant was a somewhat run down and well worn.

It started off with a ride experience walking through the door, nobody greeted us, took forever to get a table. Then we waited for 15 mins for a server then 15 more mins for the drinks and the list goes on! Horrible!

My husband and I went around 11:30 am on a Friday. The place was packed but we got a table right away. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, but I think that’s a universal Denny’s thing. The food arrived promptly and our orders were correct. Our server was friendly despite her heavy workload. We did have to request jam be brought to our table(the container was empty) but it was delivered in less than a minute. Our server only brought two packages but they ended up being our favorite flavor so that wasn’t a problem. I did end up grabbing my own Cholula from another(empty) table because I didn’t want to bother our server any more. Overall, it was a solid Denny’s experience. The food is mediocre but consistent. The servers are stressed but friendly. Nothing wrong with it as long as you know what to expect!

Went there after less than great past experiences. The waitress was lazy. They all stood behind the counter talking. It took us until the end of our meal and flagging over a waitress for drink refills. We ordered some shakes to go and they didn’t deliver them until we were walking out the door. Then at home we realized that the lazy waitress made the shakes wrong. I opened up the to go cup the shake was in to find a roach floating in it. DISGUSTING!!! If you value your dollar and health just don’t go to this location. Horrible, absolutely the worst experience. Not to mention the place is dirty looking anyway. Just go some where else.

THIS PLACE IS A DUMP! I should have made a uturn out of the parking lot as soon as I saw that the restaurant was connected to a gas station(The two do not mesh together well in my experience). Against my intuition, we went in anyway because the fog was so heavy the particular morning we went. That was another reason I stopped because had I known what area I was in, I would have never stopped anywhere in Gunpoint, I mean Greenspoint! We were greeted and treated very courteously, it was just the other patrons of the restaurant that made it clear that this was not the place to be this time of morning. They were loud and obnoxious(using profanity) throughout the time I tolerated to stay. My mom didn’t know what to order, which was great because having someone run out a restaurant ready to throw up is not a way to start off a meal. I was completely ready to go after that and finally convinced my Mom that it was time to get the hell-o out of garbage, so we left. The waitress was even nice enough to let my Mom have her cocoa for free since we didn’t stay. I feel real sorry for the employees because the service is fine, it’s just the other customers that make it pretty intolerable to enjoy a meal here!

From a USA perspective, Denny’s is the defacto benchmark for a breakfast place, and associated with a place for out-of-towners to eat near their hotel. How does this chain stack-up these days? Well, about the same as before, but with some updates to the menu, following some trends, such as: menu items for $ 2, $ 4, and $ 6 small combo choices, and they offer flavored fizzy drinks(syrup, not real juice). Consequently, you see more kids and budget-conscious adults, and no yuppies(well, except for me). The place was half-full for lunch. Grand Slam«basic» is $ 4(although the«make your own Slam» price with same ingredients is $ 2 more!). And, hash browns as a side item is $ 2 more expensive than the combo of hash browns with sausage biscuit with gravy! My lunch: Half mixed-leaf salad $ 6 with pan-grilled chicken, cranberries, candied pecans and bacon. There is no blue cheese option. Balsamic vinegar dressing is thickened, probably with sugary substance since it was sweet tasting. The meal comes with two slices of garlic bread(see picture). I added a side of hash browns. Verdict on food: The taste is in line with the lower cost, which I rate as fair-to-good. There was noticeably too much salt in the biscuits and gravy. Salad was too sweet, with the candied pecans and sweetened dressing. The chicken and hash browns taste like they were the frozen variety in some mass packaging. The hash browns were perfectly cooked as a sort of thrown-together loose patty of the potato slivers(slightly brown almost crisp exterior, and moist interior). The interior potato slivers were slightly undercooked, leading me to believe they are not long out of the freezer, and perhaps not all Idaho potatoes. Good service(no complaints). I looked at what I could see of the kitchen, and the visible surfaces are clean stainless steel. Similarly, the eating area is kept clean, and the building materials are in good condition. The lunch was a two-star overall, but for breakfast, I guess it’s a 3 star, since it’s hard to mess-up eggs, bacon and pancakes. For double the price and quality, you can go north a mile to Cracker Barrel and probably have to wait for a table. On the other hand, they don’t offer the same style of hash browns.
