Not good. Music is loud enough for a 2k person venue but it’s only about 400sq feet…

I do not understand how this place has high reviews. We went on a Saturday night and the place had no customers, only staff inside. The place is a dimly lit, L-shaped lounge with sofa-like bench lining the walls, along with high tables and stools. The drinks are strong, but other than that this place is too dark and dead for me.

This bar is very small. It would feel crowded with 12 people inside. Not really my scene. The drinks were typical and priced as one would expect in midtown. It was dead on a Friday night. There was a local guy creeping around the bar who was very drunk, annoying, and trying to mack on my friends. Typical. Apparently the bartender loves him because he hooked him up with football tickets. Whatever. I’ll stick with the tapas place across the street.

I came here on a Thursday night and it was beyond packed. I am not a fan of packed spots but even with it being extremely packed I still had a great time. The DJ was great and the drinks were made just how I like them… strong and sweet but not to sweet. The bartenders were really nice and fast. I stayed outside on the patio for most of the night. I will definitely check this place out when it’s not as busy. It’s in a great part of town and next to a few of my favorite eateries. I am going to check it out again because I really did enjoy myself.

This place used to be my favorite place in Midtown. The bartenders were amazing. We’d go in there, give a vague description of what kind of drink we were feeling that day, and they would whip up the most delicious drinks in all the land. Even the barbacks were awesome. I used to frequent this place three days a week. Then one fateful day, my birthday no less, my friends and I walked in to find zero familiar faces. I asked where my favorite bartenders in the world were and was told they no longer work there. I was crushed. The manager gave me a free shot to cushion the blow, so we thought we’d try again. Maybe the new staff would be as good as the old. But they weren’t. The crowd changed too and not for the better if you ask me. It gets overcrowded and the service really suffers on the weekends. I haven’t been back much since. It’s just too painful.

This was such a chill little bar. Definitely a place I would return to for a quick after work happy hour. It’s smaller so I am not sure how comfortable it would be on a busy night, as I for one am not a «stand up and drink» type of gal. Not because I am uppity but I get a bit clumsy after a few and my feet swell but that is for another website! The GM Jason was super cool and helpful. Their frozen drinks will KNOCKYOURSOCKS off so be careful if you happened to parallel park outside, traffic is coming at you! Great prices on beer after work, the good beers too like Corona, red strip etc… I will be back.

This place is a tiny lounge(about 20 seats total). The atmosphere is very intimate. This is a great place to come in for a drink or two with a date near the end of the night. They do serve food, but best to get in before 9, as they tend to run short later. Drinks are fairly priced for the area. They made a great lemon drop martini

So from the people who brought you Hearsay, is a newly reinvented lounge in midtown. I was so lucky to be able to host my first official UYE to kick off Texas on Tap here. They have a decent sized patio and a few more tables inside. The bar area is very nicely lit. They do offer a few pizzas as light bites a few frozen drinks along with a wide variety of specialty cocktails. They aren’t quite on the same level as hearsay but close. The service is spot on and the servers are very attentive. The best part was they were offering 3 different karbachs at a discount for Texas on Tap. I loved my experience for early evening and would come back for their crazier nights.

REALTALK(as they say)… I enjoy this place because its loungey withOUT being overly swanky and douchey. Anyone familiar with midtown as a frequent stomping grounds knows what i mean by that. Many of my cohorts and myself are absolutely DIEhard fight fans and i discovered this place after being run outta bw3’s junction, and a whole host of other places by HUGE crowds for the Texans and for college games. HERE is a place that has really interesting and exotic cocktails, shows the fights in a cozy friendly environment, and with class yet NOT discriminatory in its requested attire. BIGAAASSSSSSS tv outside to enjoy a nice cocktail on a small patio and feel like i’m damn near IN the fighters corner between rounds. Synopsis: Think: a neighborhood bar yet a low-lit, lower traffic lounge withOUT the snarky attitude. If youre a fight fan… then its a damn oasis away from the Tapout shirt wearing fellows down at B-dubs who are gingerly arm wrestling each other in between mean mugging other dudes and trying to grab 18 year old waitresses rumps during commercial breaks.

I really LOVE this bar. I love the drinks, music, staff, and it even smells fantastic inside! The bartender, Will, is probably the best bartender I’ve ever had. He makes amazing drinks and the service was impeccable. Definitely go to this bar! Love it!

I really enjoyed my night at Double Cross. It has a swanky interior, a decent sized outdoor space, and great service. Our server, in fact, was one of the highlights of the experience. He really knew his stuff and was willing to take time to discuss the options with us. He didn’t seem to mind when we weren’t ready to order yet, but was always available when we were. The drinks are quite pricey, about $ 12 for the specialty concoctions. Given that, it’s not somewhere I would go frequently. But I’ll go back for special nights out.

Low key bar. Not a lot of people. Great place to sit down and have some drinks and talk. They use fresh fruits and mint leafs at the bar to mix drinks. Pretty cool to watch!

I stopped by after dinner on a Thursday night to have a drink with my sister and upon arriving was greeted by the bartender who was already closing and cleaning up. The inside was empty with the exception of a couple regulars sitting outside on the patio. They close at midnight during the week. He did not hesitate to welcome me in and allow me to order even though I’m sure he was ready to get home. He patiently explained that are known for their seven time distilled vodka which is on tap. I ordered a dirty martini followed by an espresso martini with fresh cream. I had to take advantage of Unilocal Drinks Week. The dirty martini was super smooth and delicious. The espresso martini was out of this world decadent. I returned to Double Cross Lounge this past weekend for Unilocal’s Pub Crawl to find this Lounge filled with patrons dancing to the live DJ and a bar full of martini sipping smiling faces. Jessica the bar manager did not disappoint once again. The martinis were just as delicious as the first time. Although the lounge is small it’s a great place to mingle with your girlfriends, sip super smooth martinis, and even dance if you want to.

Perhaps because we did not sit at the bar, we missed out on a better experience. Service was slow… even though there were only 15 people total in the bar cookies and cream(1⁄5): bleh. i’ve had dessert drinks before, but it felt like the shake and vodka didn’t belong together. like i went to jack in the box and was drinking a shake and chasing it with vodka. haha the hibiscus island drink?(1⁄5): had a lot of fruit juices mixed together. i asked how strong it would be? our waitress said it wasn’t strong at all… and then i asked for her to make it a little stronger. the oreo that came with the cookies and cream shake had a higher alcohol content than the whole drink. plus one for the old school hip hop… mya — ghetto superstar, blackstreet — no diggity. although there was a dj setting up before we left

If you’re a fan of the cocktails and über personal service from Hearsay Gastro Lounge, then you’ll like Double Cross. It’s set in the old Tasting Room — Midtown location of W Gray. I came here late-ish on a weekend night and found only about three other patrons inside. It still has the same L-shape form as TTR did, so with now a total of 6 people inside, the place was«packed.»(read: This place is small.) But it’s a lounge, nonetheless — not a bar, not a dance club(though the red lighting resembles a club), and not a resto(though they do have light bites). With a few cocktail seats at the bar, lounge area and on the patio, it’s a space you and your crew can completely take over. Jessica is a knowledgeable mixologist and created some impressive drinks. I simply gave her flavors that I craved, and she whipped up some great bevs made with fresh ingredients that are displayed on the bar. I had a strawberry mint martini, a chocolate martini made with Fernet, and others that I can’t even remember … it was a long night. But they cost a pretty penny.

Great drinks and right around the corner from my place so after a few to many I can stumble home in midtown. The crowd here is low key but with classy attitudes. Its almost like he neighborhood cheers. I give props to Will he will always make some new wonderful concoction. Then you have Trey who welcomes the crowd for college football Saturdays. The only negative is drinks ca get a bit pricey. The positives are great staff and owners, good décor, wonderful drinks, close to home and a hidden spot usually.
