I found this place close to my hotel and was pleasantly surprised. The red snapper and prawns with spaghetti was very good. I had a nice garden salad with homemade Italian dressing to start and a nice Pinot Noir from California. The service was very good. I didn’t check the Unilocal reviews until I had my meal and was surprised by the service comments, as my server was top notch.

Every time we have been it has been fantastic. Service can be slow but the food is very yummy

I give this place two stars but only to be nice. The service is horrible! The food is mediocre and over priced. At the end of our meal our server decided to add 18% gratuity for a table of three people. Seriously? If you think you deserve that great of a tip maybe you should work for it.

It was a nice restaurant hidden behind other businesses. My friends and I ordered two pasta dishes and one pizza. Everything was good and the service was good(well we were the first customers). My clam spaghetti was the best out of the three. The chicken spaghetti was not that good, has a strong lemon taste to it. However it did go well with the tomato sauce and pasta. The pizza was good, but it was too cheesy for us. The sausage on the pizza was so good, everything was good but not that special. I would come again when I’m craving Italian food. 12÷14÷15 Went back to here to eat lunch with my friends again. The food were just as good as the first time. They brought out some bread that was hot and delicious. It was a nice day to sit outside and eat, the bread warmed me up from the cool breeze. Service was great and the chicken Alfredo($ 14)was my favorite. It wasn’t too creamy or salty. The roasted chicken went so well with it, the seasoning balance out the cream. I usually hate eating mushroom but it somehow work so perfectly with the pasta. The only bad part was that the pasta was a little undercooked for that dish. The other two dishes we order was just as good and none of the food was too heavy on the stomach. Seasoning for the sauces were perfect for my taste. I will come back to try out the seafood pasta next.

I was staying a hotel nearby and didn’t want to drive far for an Italian Restaurant so after reading the reviews, I reluctantly chose Fornos of Italy. I say reluctantly because when I have a choice I normally wouldn’t go to a place with a three-star Unilocal rating. The place was pretty dead when I walked in which was a little concerning but it was a holiday week so I didn’t give it much thought. It is definitely a three-star place. While the food was terrific, the service was terrible. Apparently they have a limited number of wine lists. I had to wait about 10 minutes before one was available. Even then, the wine I chose(which I saw sitting on the bar) wasn’t on the wine list. The bartender and servers all seemed to be more interested in sitting and talking with their regular customers instead of serving. If I am ever in the area again I might go back for the food but I would think twice about going back due to the horrible service.

I love this place! My favorite Italian food is spaghetti and I am very particular on how I like it cooked. This restaurant not only gives me amazing spaghetti, but also has the best Italian atmosphere and the owner is incredibly kind. He is almost always my waiter as well, but sometimes I have had others. They are not as friendly and some have been kind of rude. But overall, great restaurant.

Love Fornos. With delicious food and a cozy environment, it’s perfect for relaxing and having a great conversation if you sit away from the bar area(which has a tv with sports usually playing). They also have super friendly service. Great place for a date!

Service was fine but the alfredo sauce was watered down and bland. The penne alla vodka was too salty, and the bread was plain, nothing extraordinary. To top it off, one plate is $ 20! No added salad or soup either. I am a small girl but I almost finished my plate so the portions did not make up for it. The casear side salad was delicious though. Probably won’t try it again.

Stopped here only because it was close to our hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and served hot and very quickly! The prices are fair for an Italian restaurant. I will definitely come back on my next trip to Houston.

The only reason that this place gets two stars is because the service was good. Let me start by saying that I have never been to an authentic Italian restaurant and didn’t get bread along with olive oil and spices. The bread was a giant dinner roll. When we asked for garlic bread we were brought the giant dinner roll split in two with garlic butter spread on both sides. We order the crab cakes as an appetizer. Omg! What we got were two quarter sized microwaved imitation crab cakes which were gross. Needless to say that I didn’t trust the entrée to be any better so we left. So no way ever again!

My best Italian affordable restaurant in Houston, somehow the. Atmosphere makes me feel like I’m in real Italian place. Pulse it’s not very expensive as what most Italian restaurants are. Love their wine collection. Their service was absolutely amazing.

I started with a screwdriver and had the Polo Jerusalem. The dish was a delight; Grilled chicken topped with mushrooms and Jerusalem artichokes in wine cream sauce. The bread was fresh and still hot from the oven, the marinara sauce was alive with the sublet flavor you would expect in your Italian grandmother’s kitchen. The server was fun. He was the classic Italian uncle type. Impeccable service with a touch of I told you so. The place is a little hard to find, but well worth the search.

I used to come here for lunch 10 – 15 years ago. Always got the same thing– their manicotti. I hadn’t been here in 10 years so I decided to come back for lunch Saturday a week ago. It has not changed a bit. My favorite thing their is their sauce. They have a very unique tomato sauce. I don’t know how authentically Italian it is but I find that sauce to be absolutely delicious. It makes the dish. The prices for glasses of wine, even their house wine, add up very quickly, it also tastes watered down. Their wine is the only drawback.

Cute Italian place tucked in the back of the plaza. Went here for lunch with some co-workers. What I tried: Minestrone Soup: really liked this; very hearty and full of different vegetables; great taste! Mussels Appetizer(ate it as my main entrée): rich flavors and well done; liked the creamy sauce and great dipping the complimentary rolls in :) Bread Rolls: I couldn’t help myself; they’re absolutely delightful and almost seems like they were slightly toasted on the outside while still remaining fluffy on the inside Service was a little slow, felt like we waited a long time for our food.

My friend and I went here for dinner. It is a nice little place and they had live music. The service however was really bad and slow! It took forever for someone to come and take our order. And a couple of the waiters were rude! We ordered lasagna primavera and a pizza. Food was good. Portion size was decent. Just wish the service had been better!

Appetizers, we had shrimp di la casa and fried cheese. The shrimp is topped with a buttery sauce and you can’t go wrong with fried cheese. I had a simple grilled chicken entrée here at Fornos. The meat was cooked to a little pink, I would have preferred cooked all the way, but it might have toughened it. Overall, a good lunch.

Fornos is a decent Italian restaurant. I usually order the spaghetti and sausages or meatballs. For those who can’t eat spicy, I don’t recommend the sausages, but they definitely have a unique motherland aged taste to them. Very good and so is their fresh bread.

Breakdown of the ratings…3 for food, 1 extra for the great service even though it was some hiccups! Came for lunch with a party of about 12 people. We were accommodated sufficiently; drinks refilled and bread/butter readily available. The waiter was really nice guy; funny, very patient and offered recommendations for dishes since it was my first time patronizing the place. We had apps of calamari which was really delicious. The bread was good as well. With the waiter’s advice, I settled upon the red snapper as my entrée. Surprisingly, I didn’t really care for the plain pasta that accompanied it but the fish/veggies was really good. They overlooked one person’s food but apologized and returned fairly quickly with it. There was an array of lunch dishes ordered with no complaints heard from our table. I think it’s a cool spot in the area; though it’s pretty compact on the inside.

Food — I’ve been here a few times. The food here is not overly salty in taste. This time around I had the Baked Ziti. A bit too cheesy I think. This dish doesn’t come with meat, but if you prefer it, there will be an extra charge. The spaghetti dish is a huge portion. If you’re hungry, you can’t go wrong with that. The Pasta Primavera is not bad either, but it’s another veggie dish. If you like meat, you want to try out the Cannelloni, and my favorite, the Pasta Al Forno. It’s the first dish I’ve ever tried at this place and that’s why I keep coming back. Service is not bad. They can be on the slow side during rush hours, but it all depends on who is the server. Waleed is an excellent server! The restaurant is clean and table clothes everywhere. Ambience is romantic. If you go for the ambiance, this is the place to be. It’s nice and quite and they have a great selection of wine. Petite, but enough room between tables. Cost is not bad. Most dishes are no more than $ 10 during lunch. Definitely a place to go during lunch hours on work days. Even a nice evening date is appropriate here too.
