Great selection, easy in and out. The classics sausage and jalepeno is still my favorite, with ham and cheese a close second.

I had their bacon, egg and cheese kolache and it was delicious! I love Kolache Factory! I’ve also had the sausage, egg, and cheese kolache and it was delicious too. Their kolaches are really good and overstuffed. They don’t really look that big but when you start eating them you end up getting so full. I really love their dough that they use to make the kolaches. Sometimes when you buy kolaches from random donut shops the dough they use just doesn’t taste the same so the kolaches aren’t as good. You can’t just have good stuffing if you’re trying to make good kolaches, the dough is just as important. That’s why I love Kolache Factory their kolaches are so good because that’s what they specialize in so they know how to do it right.

Gross! Everything tastes like it is cooked a day before and just heated up for you upon purchase. Coffee is so weak… Even their strongest blend is weak and I’m not a coffee addict at all, it takes a little to get me going. I actually felt sick after eating here, you that feeing you get when you eat something and instantly after eating it your like«nope». That’s exactly how I felt. This place does get busy and has its own crowd but I prefer to spend my money elsewhere. This is review is based of the food quality entirely. The staff was nice and quick. After«typing» this review someone in corporate did reach out to me with concern. I want to make it clear, this review is entirely my opinion on the food and in no way means that other people will feel the same way. The store was very clean and the staff was great, it was my personal opinion of the kolaches and coffee. I can tell that it is very important to the company to make sure every customer has a good experience and enjoys their food. To me that says a lot about and I appreciate the reach out. Updating this review from 2 to 3 stars because of the customer service.

I stop in here between 8:30 — 8:45 most mornings to get one sausage kolache. I get plain sausage because it is under $ 1(.89 cents). If you get the sausage and cheese kolache it is $ 1.70…I have never had to wait behind more than one person and I’ve only had one problem– they didn’t have anymore sausage kolaches and nothing else on their menu is under $ 1. So I give it three stars based solely on their pricing– I don’t think adding cheese to a kolache should increase the price by by almost a $ 1 but what do I know… I give them an extra star just because I really have only had one issue going there and all the employees are nice and there is parking!!!

The girl behind the counter was super helpful and sweet. I came in one hour before closing and was surprised it still had a decent amount of variety. I didn’t expect the creamy spinach kolache to taste so good, I was pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to get more!

I was brought here by my brother in law who had recently moved to Houston to try something we don’t have in NC, the kolache. We get inside and there is a brief wait, about 10 minutes. To our dismay the highly recommended ranchero kolache is sold out(seems to be a theme here) so I went with the bacon egg and cheese and the jalapeño. I was kind of underwhelmed at the gummy breadyness of the pastry but the filling was nice and hot. I was expecting a crunchy exterior for some reason. I suppose I’m used to deep fried stuff. The jalapeño was insane, just a pastry with about ¼ cup of canned jalapeños inside. Difficult to stomach first thing in the morning. I tried to go back for the jalapeño and cheese but alas, they were sold out as well so I got another bacon egg and cheese. Overall a meh experience, I feel this dish could be executed much better at home or by a smaller scale operation.

I would give less stars if I could. Let me start by saying, my family LOVES the Kolache Factory. Except this location. Their kolaches are not consistent with the other locations, particularly the Rancheros. Sometimes they barely have tomatoes, onions and peppers, other times there are so many tomatoes the bread is soggy. We try to power through because the location is so convenient, but after our last experience, we may have to be through. They are often out of ranchero and plain sausage and cheese, but they hit a high note this last time. On a Saturday morning, they were completely out of the following kolaches: Ranchero Sausage Sausage and cheese Texas Hot Ham and Cheese Potato Egg and Cheese Egg and Cheese Sausage and Gravy We were told it would be an hour for any of these to be ready. So, since our three children were starving, and were not about to leave without a kolache, we cobbled together an order from the few selections available. All of these were so awful, even our non discerning four year olds didn’t want them. It’s time for a quality check on this franchise location. It’s worth the drive to head over to another Kolache Factory or find another weekend breakfast standard.

Kolache Factory offers a huge variety of kolache flavors for the masses, with varying degrees of quality. I frequent this location with my daughters, as my eldest is obsessed with the bacon, egg, and cheese, and my youngest devours the egg and cheese with a multitude of «nom nom» noises. For my taste, they serve up fairly decent kolaches, though nothing amazing. The store itself is no-frills, with only 4 tables; clearly setup for take-out. The kolaches are arrayed, by flavor, behind the check-out counter. As you approach, you’re able to pick out which flavors you want as the cashier fills up your bag or box(depending on how many you’re getting). Now, for the big problem, because this place works in volume, you will rarely get a kolache hot out of the oven. Kolache Factory makes liberal use of microwaves to get around this, but, unfortunately, I think it takes away from the overall flavor and makes the dough a bit gummy. In general, the fillings are well done, with my favorite being the mild polish. Overall, it meets a need, but probably doesn’t satisfy the masses flocking to Hruska’s on their travels between Houston and Austin.

I tried a kolache for the first time a few weeks ago. I am not from Texas so I was mystified by this creation that all Texans talk about as freely as asking someone if they want a donut or bagel with coffee. I will say they are unique. Pretty much just a bagel with stuffing. Bacon egg and cheese needed something… Pepper perhaps? Potato egg and cheese was excellent. Jalapeño and Cheese was heartburn in a bun. I live across the street so every weekend I now walk over to grab some for breakfast.

I just had a ham and«cheese» croissant. I couldn’t find any cheese and when I questioned them about it I was told it is melted in the bread. I finally tasted a little cheese. It’s so skimpy on the cheese you have to try and find it in the croissant. The person behind the counter didn’t seem to care that there was very little cheese. It was not worth 3.75 and I won’t be back, which is sad because I live right across the street.

«Yummy» and«delish» are the last words that come to mind when I think Kolache Factory, at least this location. The ONE thing I would expect them to get right would be the sausage and cheese kolache. Every time I order these from KF, they are served cold and feel like a heavy ball of play-doh. Oh, wait, they ask if I would like them heated… in a microwave. I always decline. Unfortunately, there isn’t a more convenient option(like Shipley Donuts) around for a decent kolache. Shipley’s kolaches put the KF’s to shame…

I was very grouchy this morning so this easily could have turned into a one-star review right meow with the quickness; however it is always a pleasant Factory employee that makes the difference between a hawker of fungible breakfast wares and a(Greg Giraldo inspired) purveyor of fine treats. As the Greg Giraldo bit implied there are many vendors of treats — there is a taquito place next door, two McDonalds nearby with their mcgriddles, a great kolache place in the Heights relatively nearby, and other places. This one is conveniently located next to a Starbucks. So it has that going for it, no need to sample Starbucks’ child-like attempts at breakfast foods, there is real food close by. This is a small location. About the same size as the one in the tunnels downtown. However the one downtown never manages to sell out of the most important items when I am in line and wanting to purchase them, then eat them. This small shop on the other hand was busier than I have ever seen the downtown one. I hate waiting in line. I do not like it. So the fact that I not only got out of my car in the rain, which I also do not like doing, but I also waited in line means I was extra grouchy about all this extra work I had to put into feeding myself this morning. Add on to that I am spending another weekend working instead of doing fun things like PS3 or other things a middle aged man should be doing with his life instead of slaving away in a cave in the sky with stacks of paper. So I had been rained on, then waited in line, and then that is where a level of heartbreak that only Kanye West could capture in 808s & Heartbeak. The Ranchero kolache was out. Wat? Yes, no ranchero. That is completely unacceptable. The Earl of Lemongrab would need to be channeled to shout how UNACCEPTABLE this is. A Dalek would also be needed for good measure to illustrate that is an offense that only merits one word, EXTERMINATE. They lost four stars and were looking down the barrel of a one star review. However they won stars back thanks to the woman behind the counter. The woman behind the counter was very nice and pleasant, like oddly so, just like Debbie Novotny behind the counter of the Liberty Diner. Even more oddly so since the small place was pretty busy and nobody wants to start out their morning like that, a morning so busy that they sold out of ALLOFTHETHINGS that I wanted to eat. Plan B was the flavor of the month, the Denver Omelette, as it was a relatively close(lame) version of the ranchero since that is all we could work with. As far as flavors of the month go, we all like trying new things. Good for them for experimenting with things in the laboratory sense. The unfortunate thing about this item is that principles of engineering and physics were not really applied, as this was structurally unsound and collapsed in on itself after one bite. So instead of the articulated kolache experience where you can use your hands and take standard bites, this became more of a kolache bowl experience, which was unique in and of itself. The kolache shell failed for whatever reason, just like the recent Scientific American article about the odd failure of Serenity’s structural integrity to allow the Reavers’ spear through the window that somehow maintained structural integrity flying around the universe during the Firefly series and for most of the Serenity film. It just does not add up and it is an equally awful outcome, on one hand you have the death of Wash and on the other you have me trying to use a fork to eat a «kolache bowl.» I would not wish either on my worst enemy meow or ever.

Just visited Houston for the first time last weekend from CA and discovered Kolaches. I am already having withdrawls. I tried the egg, cheese, and potato one, and it was just as good as the awesome breakfast burritos I get in San Diego. While I am not a resident of the area, I can tell that parking in this lot is kinda crappy. Also, my friend really wanted a flavor they were out of, and he asked them if they had any more. They said no, and then 2 minutes later pulled out a fresh batch. Would it really have been that hard to tell him they would be ready in a couple minutes if he wanted to wait?

Recently moved to Houston from the Midwest where Kolache Factory is unknown. This is great alternative to a morning donut and feels more substantial. I go to the one on River Oaks and it is always quick service. My favorite kolache is the potato, egg, and cheese. It also happens to be one with the lowest calorie count. I also enjoy the chicken enchilada kolache, but you have to be in a particular mood to enjoy that at 9am in the morning!

I am from Chicago and was on vacation in Houston when I discovered Kolaches. This is a wonderful breakfast invention and I really wish that a Kolache Factory would pop up in Chicago somewhere… These donut-like things stuffed with all sorts of breakfast concoctions are the best thing next to sliced bread… really. These things are inexpensive and filling, besides the fact that this particular Kolache Factory(assuming I picked the correct one) has an excellent coffee bar with Starbucks-quality coffee to go along with your kolache. I particularly enjoyed the Italian Chicken and Jalepeno, Sausage and Cheese Kolaches.

OK. So I saw the sign«Kolache Factory» while visiting Houston, and I had to pay a visit. I was expecting, you know, Eastern European cookies. With cream cheese dough. And plum and black currant fillings made with care by little Eastern European Grandmas. So I was taken a little aback when I first walked inside the store and saw BREAKFASTPOCKETS. Complete Texas culture shock. But these weren’t blasphemous – they were good. Especially the chorizo and egg and the jalepeno and cheese. Bless this country and the amalgam of cultures – because without it, I would never have had Texan Kolaches. YUM.
