I only get a pedicure about once every six months. Spa pedicures usually come with free manicures [not a big bonus for me since I don’t let them cut my cuticles and just get them filed and buffed]. For the last 3 years I’ve always gone to Instyle Nails on W Alabama but with the construction over there its such a pain and since I live in the Heights — plus on Saturdays they can get crowded. So today I just found a place in my hood that I thought would be cheapish and I wouldn’t get a disease from [I’m not fancy]. It was 10am. I was the first customer. This is obviously a family biz. I was greeted very sweetly and served right away, although they forgot about the mani until 15 – 20 min later. The place is pretty clean, although it looks like they need to do a better sweep job in corners and under the stations. The pedi was A-OK — although I coulda used more sloughing. What was really disappointing was the mani that I didn’t even really need. The kid that filed my nails did a horrible job — they’re uneven and prickly — some are squared off, some round, some slanted — I don’t know what he was smokin. I had to keep correcting him but eventually, I just gave up because I could do it better myself. So $ 35 later, I get to redo my mani, my heels still look a little callused and I didn’t even get my massage I’m used to from Instyle [which is only $ 30, I think]. Plus side: all nail lacquer is Opi and my toe nails look great. And they are very friendly [albeit young — outside of the mother]

I am a regular at Nail Co. I like the fact that I have my own kit, everyone does, and that they clean the basin for pedicures between each customer… I’ve had much different experiences than the other reviewer. The only bad experience that I had, was getting there with an appointment and then waiting… I left and went to the Pearl and told them to call me when they were ready! Ask for Betsy… she gives the best pedicure. I would also advise taking your own polish… seems to make the pedicure last longer.

I decided to check this place out after being recommended to me by a friend. I will never come back to this place. While one of the guys, I’m assuming the manager, was doing my nails, he hardly paid any attention to me while he watched and laughed at «Fat Albert», which was playing on TV. In my head, I was like, «watch it, buddy! you’ll injure me with your nail instrument». I was on edge the whole time he did my nails. An older lady did my toenails, as well as my eyebrows. While she waxed my brows, I felt a sharp sting when she yanked the strip from my forehead. I thought the sting and the subsequent redness was normal, so I paid no attention to it, until I got home. I washed my face and felt a very sharp stinging sensation, which stung even more when I applied some moisturizer on my forehead. Once again, I thought nothing of it, til my friend later asked me why my forehead was so red. I looked in the mirror and upon closer examination, found that the skin between my eyebrows and a little above my right brow had been stripped off! My forehead is raw! It’s been 3 hours and it still stings like hell! To top it all off, I was first quoted $ 42 dollars for the manicure, the pedicure and eyebrow waxing. But in the very end, I was charged $ 50. I told her that I was quoted $ 42 initially. She gave me a breakdown of the prices, which did not add up to $ 50(stupid me… I even tipped on top of all that), but then told myself«f**k it, just pay it and don’t come back!»
