Went here today and asked for 2 sliced beef extra lean plates. When I got home and opened the food it was full of fat. Called to speak with the manager and he said to come back and get it replaced. Why would I drive back almost 30 minutes to pick up dog chow? I asked for a refund and he said that they cannot give a refund. That is not the truth. Anytime Pappas food is messed up they will give you a refund or at least a gift card. The manager barely spoke English and was rude! Will never go there again. I’ll save my $ 33.00 or take it elsewhere

I’m not from Texas. You go to the self service bar to order but no sign tells you wgere that is. So when i finally realized i was in the wrong place the lady was really helpful in walking me through the process. Getting a chopped beef Potatoe with bbq sauce and a one size only sweet tea was heaven lol but if i lived in texas i don’t know how i would restrain myself from tri tip on everything! !!!

I ordered a turkey for Christmas Eve in advance. A man took my order and did not tell me about the one hour cutoff either. I went to get the turkey and I was told they had given the turkey to someone else since I was late. I requested to speak to the manager. I told her what had happened and she did not care that I was not given the pick-up information. To make matters worse, a lady behind me was told to come and pick up a turkey since they had extra. The manager and co-manager stood their speechless since they were busted. I ask them how come others were receiving turkeys without orders? They did not apologize, they were rude(this was christmas eve), and no offers to purchase turkey meat were either. I will never eat at this Pappas and the management team needs to be fired. They are rude, hateful, and unprofessional. Avoid Manager Neomy Beret and co-manager Flor somebody… I was a customer for over 10 years… avoid this store at all costs. Horrible experience for my family.

First time at a papas bbq ever! Very disappointed! Horrible service! We order a smoked turkey for thanksgiving from this location and we were never notified that if you don’t pick it up after 1 hour from the time you requested they will automatically give your order to someone else. I showed up 30 minutes after the«cutoff time» and they had sold our turkey. The worse experience ever, I will never order from them again and advise everyone else to be very careful if you decide to place an order there. On top of all of this there were no apologies!

We have gotten take-out from this Pappa’s BBQ twice now, and I have been pretty pleased with the quality of the food. It isn’t amazing BBQ, but it is very reasonable for the price. The employees have always been very pleasant, and we have always returned home with a correct order in hand. I would recommend this location for anyone who has a hankering for BBQ, but isn’t willing to really go out and seek a gem. It is a good choice for that quick fix of basic, no-frills, BBQ flavor.

They did not disappoint… The chopped beef is banging!!! And my cheesecake slice was huge… A little pricey but if you wanna eat good, what do you expect?! I would go back

I used to love this place but it isn’t as good as it used to be. I got a chopped beef sandwich that was so salty I couldn’t eat it. I will say the fries were excellent. I do miss luther’s

Pretty disappointed by the meat. For TX standards, I’d say this is not a good BBQ joint. Skip it and go somewhere else.

If you want good BBQ, do not come here. The brisket tasted like it had sat out for way too long. The«BBQ beans» tasted like store bought BBQ sauce but not terrible. Mac n cheese had no flavor and was watered down. The potato salad had a weird taste. The cucumber salad wasn’t bad. Also, it seems like everyone who works there hates their jobs… very basic décor and atmosphere. Not coming back.

It’s really hit or miss. Sometimes you can go in a bust your gut and feel like you get your money’s worth. Most of the time you get bad service. Mouthy employees who don’t pay attention to what you order and talk smack about people because they think you don’t know Spanish. I love BBQ but honestly I wish there was another place closed to me. On the upside the Pappas by Gulf gate mall is the best.

EXCELLENT. The food was super delicious. The line moved quickly and I was in and out in no time.

The quality of the food is eatable, but the meat tastes dirty. Had the 2 meat platter and the BBQ sauce was watery and the meat wasn’t that great. The service was ok. Everyone seemed like they hated their job. There was also a big water bug on the counter… Not coming again!

When we walked in there were more dirty tables than clean ones, that should have been our first clue! The condiment bar was completely out of pickles and small cups for sauce. There were onion, jalapeños, etc laying on the counter top. We ordered 2 sliced beef brisket sandwiches with pasta salad and ranch beans. All was okay except the beans were crunchy, not cooked through. This was our first and last visit to this location. I suggest the PAppas on 59, much better restaurant. PAppas I know you can do better that! Keep the restaurant tidy!

Slow service. Ordered two breakfast plates and when I got to window I noticed the price was low so asked her to repeat it. I paid and then she gave me the wrong order. She apologized and had to refund order and make new order. 20 mins later I’m finally leaving the drive thru with 3 cars behind me. Very slow and inefficient. Accuracy is a big part of the system to make the drive thru work. Big fail Pappa’s.

This was once a Luther’s BBQ so you may recognize the lay-out. Go through the line, order your food and drink Pay at the register then go grab a seat. The condiment/salad bar has all the fix’ens you could want I love the sausage on a roll, with onions and red barbecue sauce! yummo The mac is extra cheesy and the lemonade is extra large. and if you got room for dessert, they got an icecream machine Gotta love it

Got the chicken and pulled pork with Mac and cheese and beans– fantastic!!! Can’t give this 5 stars as the Mac and cheese isn’t made from scratch. It’s fake cheese.

Every time I come here it seems worse than the last time. I think it’s because there are much better places I’ve been since. Bacon burger was okay. Most of it dripped down my arm.

Why do I keep leaving the drive thru without checking my order? Why? Three times now I have ordered my regular ol’ football sized baked tater with chopped beef and gotten home only to find there was no meat on it. Three times I have turned around to go back and get the order right. Granted they do give me a fresh new tater and not just plop some chopped beef down on the old one. It would be nice instead of just slamming me a new tater through the window they would offer me a slice of pie or a beverage for my trouble of having to come all the way back to get their mistake fixed. For $ 10 these taters are HUGE and if prepared properly mighty tasty. But I’ll tell ya lately the meat has been fatty and greasy and the butter and sour cream nearly nonexistent. This used to be one of my favorite things to go get on a day off. Go through the drive thru in my PJs and get home with some Q and a big sweet tea and veg in front of the TV. Pappa’s has really let the ball drop on their BBQ. I think I’ll locate another favorite drive through in the area for this now that football season is in full swing.

Do you like eating stuffed potatoes as big as your face? Do you like it when there’s only one size of French fries to pick from, and it(also) is as big as your face? Then you’ll like Pappas BBQ! Since it’s right down the street from my work, my coworkers and I frequently visit this location. It’s usually pretty fast, and even during the lunch rush you can get in and out within the hour. That’s a huge plus for us, because our group size varies from 3 – 10, and knowing we’ll be able to eat, visit, and get back to work on time is important. Service is pretty fast– order at the counter, and they’ll prepare it before you get to the register. If it takes some time to put together, then they’ll bring it to you at the table, but there’s no «real» waiter service. This helps speed up the lunch crowd, as you are seated after you already have food. To me, that’s a plus. The chopped beef baked potato is my all-time favorite. It is SOLARGE, that even the most hungry of patrons will leave full and happy. The BBQ sauce is not a thick as one might except, but it has a twangy flavor that I do enjoy. Just be sure to try a small dab before smothering your plate with it, if this is your first visit. Looking for a healthier option? The chef salad is great, with a variety of meats and veggies on a bed of lettuce, and the chopped turkey sandwich is very flavorful.

Barbecue? check. over-stuffed baked potatoes? check. Chili-cheese fries? check. Brisket by the pound? check. drive-thru? check. need i say more? This specific location is closest to my house and job so i do visit fairly often. Something about a baked potato and chili cheese fries wakes up the fat kid in me! i absolutely love the turkey baked potato and then help myself to the salad bar and overload it with bacon bits chives and sour cream. oh man I’m hungry just thinking about it!
