Went here at lunch with a coworker. Spoke to the owner(manager?) as we ordered… Super fun guy! I went to the counter and ordered catfish, vegetables and rice, the cashier chatting with us the whole time. Great customer service. The food came out quickly and was delicious! My coworker got a po boy and gumbo, which he let me try and is the best I’ve had in a while. Very convenient for a quick lunch stop. Of course, the manager knew it was our first time and personally brought out bread pudding.(His wife’s recipe!) — so good. The facility was clean and seating was easy. Overall this was a great experience.

Based on the initial reviews I read, I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is traditional market style, I imagine a fun place during Mardi Gras. ;-) The service was excellent, the food was very good, closer to genuine Louisiana food than chain Cajun. Have I had better yes, but it is definitely worth a visit. It’s a little pricey, but good seafood always is. They also have a very good beer selection, I highly recommend the Abita Andygator. Not only did I like it, but I’ll be back for more! Good happy hour prices Mondays and Tuesday’s, I came on a Thursday, make a mental note.

It’s gone down hill. Inattentive management. Smallest crawdads in town. Tried to serve us fried shrimp when we ordered oysters. Too bad. Used to be a good place.

$ 16 for over cooked shrimp brochette. Had many good meals here over the years but this was not a good experience.

We had 4 orders of Crawfish of various amounts. They brought them to us COMBINED! We were so mad. Especially when we asked them which was which and they stood there and lied to us. They where all the same. The crwafish are tiny and they where overcooked. If in this area try Hanks of Be bees for crawfish. The employees got mad at us for asking which was which.

Speedy service, good food, and fair pricing. Much cleaner and nicer than the Ragin Cajun on Richmond. Would recommend trying their happy hour for best deals.

This is usually one of my favorite spots for crawfish during crawfish season but the last couple of times I’ve been I’ve been disappointed. Parking has always been an issue, and getting a table can be a challenge. And the last time or two I’ve had crawfish here it hasn’t been purged, its overcooked or not seasoned well.

A very authentic place. The staff was very helpful. And we needed lots of help ordering since this was our first time at this location. The food was spicy and very fresh. I will Definitely be back. Their weekly specials make it a great place for girls night out or date night See the picture :)

Food was good and usually is. Gumbo could be hotter but it wasn’t cold. The tall lanky blk bartender is smug and arrogant. His service is also lack luster. The hispanic guys that work the bar are much better. Overall nice place to go. Probably just need some staff adjustments.

Ragin Cajun is a Houston area franchise(?), and to many, the gold standard for simple cajun food here in town. If you’re looking for boudin, crawfish, oysters, po-boys etc. they’ve got it in spades. Inside of the place is spot on for that cajun restaurant atmosphere; LSU signage, Abita beers on tap, taxidermy redfish and alligator heads hung on the wall are among all those knick-knacks you look for in a river shack style joint. Seating is casual picnic tables and a small outdoor patio in the back. Service is fairly quick. You order your food at a main window, pay and wait. Food is consistent though not outstanding cajun fare. They do the staples, and well enough, but I can’t say I’ve ever been knocked out of my chair by anything at this location. Prices seem to have gone up on certain things but much of their seafood is market pricing so I can’t really blame much on them. That being said, I have seen a lot of grumbles about $ 6 for ordering two side jalapenos. Yikes… If you’re in the West Houston area and hankering for some cajun crawfish, Ragin should get you there.

Went for a Valentine’s celebration with my honey and we were NOT impressed. I hadn’t been here in years and wanted to venture out since it was the weekend and he actually had time. We ordered 4 lbs of crawfish, corn, potatoes, sausage and the stuffed jalapenos for an app. The jalapenos were great, but paying $ 7 for 2 whole jalapenos cut into 3 pieces each was a bit ridiculous. I mean, how much are jalapenos… seriously? The crawfish came steaming with potatoes and corn including the sausage. First of all, they were very small. Second, they were very bland except for the spicy taste of jalapeño as if it were boiled in the water with them. There was no REAL flavor, cajun or otherwise. The corn and potatoes were boiled in just plain water, no flavor there either. Needless to say, I won’t go back. They need a new seasoning, or maybe some period, or ask someone that actually likes crawfish how they are supposed to be cooked.

Ate here yesterday and was not impressed. The food is overpriced with little flavor. Stuffed jalapeños are a joke. 2 jalapeño cost 6.00! Really? How does this place stay open? Will not return.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been here, but today’s visit was pretty good. I came here with some co-workers since the traffic to Boudreaux got backed up. I ordered their Friday special which consisted of fried shrimp, fried catfish, fries, and hush puppies. Service was quick and food tasted great. Their tartar sauce was superb! This is a great option to grab a quick lunch if you happen to live or work in the area.

Service: excellent, very friendly and courteous Cleanliness: very good Food: good-very good(I had the oysters on a half shell($ 14) fresh and good but I didn’t like the cocktail sauce much, chicken tenders($ 11)were ok like any others, fries were good, kids Mac and cheese($ 5)looks like it’s from the box but my kid didn’t complain), brownie sundae($ 8) this is ok, again kid loved it but I don’t think it should be $ 8 bucks, maybe $ 5. Also the bread pudding($ 5)…now this was delicious. Drink was unlimited; I had the sweet tea, it was good, not too sweet. I had a groupon. First time here, I would go back again with another groupon, otherwise it’s a bit on the pricey side for me. For first timers, you have to order your food from the huge menu on the wall, pay, then wait for your order to pick up at the counter to bring to your table. Drinks and condiments are self serve. Oysters are picked up at the bar side. They will call your number when your food is ready. It’s a laid back kind of restaurant. I went when it opened at 11 for lunch so it wasn’t as busy.

There is nothing RAGIN about this Cajun place. Yesterday was my first and last time here. 1– it’s over priced 2– the food had no flavor. It taste like food from the frozen section in the grocery store. We order buffalo wings, crawfish salad, cheeseburger and gumbo. Everything was ice cold when we picked it up from the counter. The crawfish was chewy and didn’t have one Cajun spicy on it. The salad lettuce was dirty. The cheeseburger was burnt and cold(how is that possible) the fries were hard over cooked and cold. Our bill was over $ 40. For that price I expect a hot meal with favor! 3– the restaurant was dirty and had a weird dirty smell Who ever owns this place needs to close the doors or apply for a spot on one of those restaurant recuse shows!

Was there for lunch this afternoon. Was a quick hitter today just by myself!!! No line, short wait. Had the oyster poboy… it was off the hook good although the oysters did not make it to both ends of the foot long bread. Also had half bucket of crawfish($ 12.99) Good size for time of year it is… the seasoning is good and the craws were cooked the right amount of time. THEPROBLEM I HAVE … is I do NOT believe they purged the crawfish and as a «head sucker» I was getting mouth fulls of dirty sandy water… blllaaaaaa! Over all I would say the tail where good though! Happy Feasting!

Seriously? $ 27 for 3.5 pounds of crawfish. Ok… I want some. They better be good. They were spicy, firey hot and cooked really well. Tails popped right out when I tugged. But they were teeny, tiny, itty bitty. The guy at the order counter told us if we «had come last week we’d be disappointed but this week they were pretty decent sized». Those were his words. If these were bigger than last week’s then I can’t imagine how tiny they were then. You can’t get them by the pound only the bucket and half bucket. Hmmm… if they had been a nice sized bug I maybe could wrap my head around the price. It is early in the season, however, and they aren’t too plentiful yet. I also ordered a dozen oysters. They were clean but also very tiny. For $ 13 it was a poor value. I doubt I’d order them here again. So far I am really unhappy with the value of my meal. I’ve spent $ 40 and barely feel like I’ve eaten anything. The wife loves their Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya(cup .$ 5.99, bowl .$ 9.99) Pan-braised Chicken and Smoked Sausage with vegetables and Creole spices, simmered in flavorful tomato sauce, served with rice. It’s too dry and sticky for me. But she always gets some whether we go in to eat or order to bring home. She also orders a dozen boiled shrimp for $ 13. They are smallish but usually cooked well. Still, for that price they should be large Gulf Coast shrimp and not these tiny salad sized crustaceans. If you want melted butter with it they charge you $ 1.09. Wha??? Their entrees are a bit steep pricewise for what you get. I used to order the dozen fried oyster dinner but at $ 20 for a dozen with 2 sides… it just seems way too much for way too little. Their hushpuppies and mashed taters are really good though and I do like that they have a full bar and can make you some fun Gulf Coast concoction. Order at the counter, get a number and wait for them to call it, then go get your tray. Fill and refill your drinks and get your own silverware(thank you for having real silverware!) and then let one of the never speaking busboys come by and grab your empty plates. Parking right out front is a pain at busy times because they share a lot with a cleaners that has designated spaces. They have some long tables if you have a big party of friends all together. Sports on TVs around the place and the bathrooms are always clean. Look, it’s pretty good food. It’s consistent and the menu offers all the Cajun staples you’d expect — po’ boys, muffaletta, gumbo and even burgers. But honestly, for the price I’ll go to Blue Water and have table service, crawfish by the pound, larger portions and a better seafood experience.
