The best thing about this place are the warm rolls. They keep them coming too! The bbq is nothing to rave about. I got the chicken plate and it was just ok. Not even the bbq sauce made it taste better.

Our granddaughter had a chopped beef sandwich there a couple days ago and she got extremely sick. There are so many good bbq places in Houston that it will be easy to take this joint off our radar…

We just got severely food poisoned by eating the chopped beef from this location. The symptoms started immediately and our bodies are still violently trying to get rid of the contaminated meat 24 hours later. Thank God our one year old daughter is a picky eater and didn’t digest any. When I spoke to the manager today, he seemed completely unconcerned and admitted he will do nothing about it.

I’ve been to this location a few times now. Most recently I was a little disappointed. I ordered the beef & sausage dinner, lean beef & pepper sausage. The beef looked really gross, very pale, fatty & cut wrong. My daughter was behind me in line & got a beef plate. The manager happened to walk up as her beef was being sliced & he told the guy making her plate not to use that beef & had him start cutting from a new brisket. I asked if I could swap my beef for some from the new brisket & he was happy to oblige. Then we were waiting to order baked potatoes & a female employee kind of barked at us to help ourselves to the sides. We explained that we wanted baked potatoes so she made them for us, but she didn’t seem to happy about having to do it & our potatoes looked like a tornado had ripped through them when she was done. Took us a couple of tries to find a table that wasn’t dirty. The food was just okay, nothing special & definitely not worth $ 50+ for lunch for 3 people. Drinks were definitely a rip-off at $ 2.35 each.

I’m only giving this place 2 stars because the brisket is ok at best. The service is awful! Slow and awful! After waiting in a long line it was finally my turn to order. I only wanted brisket no sides just a small plate of brisket. A total of 6 employees looked at me like I was being difficult. Then the meat cutter was interrupted by one of the other 6 employees to cut meat for a large to go order. Before they get back to me the lady behind my husband starts calling her order for her family of 4. Keep in mind my meat still hasn’t been cut and none of the 6 clueless employees have asked my husband for his order either until he starts rambling off that he’s not with them and he would like to order. Then a guy(one of the 6) tells us in Spanish«sorry he’s new». Ruuuuude! I don’t speak Spanish?! Once we sit down we see that a kid walks around with a bread basket passing out fresh rolls. Well yummm if you’re loading up in carbs, right? Well she passes us by not asking if we’d like a roll. At this point my husband calls her out and ask for a roll. Her reply was that she was out and fresh rolls will be ready shortly. So he patiently waits and then he sees her walking in the opposite direction with fresh rolls. Keep in mind we’re sitting right in front and center of the oven and roll making area. My husband raises his hand like he’s in elementary, she makes eye contact with him and she keeps on passing out rolls to all the other patrons. Well this annoyed the hell out of me so I speak up saying«excuse me» really loud. The girl looks at me and ignores me to keep passing out rolls to all the previous tables. So weird! When she makes it to our table I reminded her that my husband had asked a long time ago like 15 min. At this point his food is almost gone so what’s the use?! Her response was that she has to start on that side or she’ll get in trouble. So basically the other side of the place gets no bread? Makes no sense to me. This is the last time we give money to this place. There’s 10 other BBQ places in this zip on Unilocal so pick another one!

Got a two meat plate to go tonight. The girl did show me the food before I left, but I wasn’t really paying attention. When I got home we had four small slices of brisket and about five slim slices of sausage. Worth $ 13+ — absolutely not! Definitely won’t be heading back any time soon.

I only put reviews when I try something that Unilocal leads me to believe is good but turns out to be horrible. And this is that case. My fellow Texans this is not BBQ. It tastes like microwaved BBQ and frozen sides with burnt rolls. Don’t waste your time or money. There’s got to be better BBQ out there especially since Houston is known for its fatties so fatties know food. No disrespect :) But this is not worth your time, money, or calories.

Had a chopped beef BBQ baked potato. It was good but their sauce is a tad bit sweet for me. Nonetheless, it was good.

Love this place. We go here alot! It’s great for families and kiddo. They have a great party room and keep everything clean. People are constantly checki n g on you to see if you need more bread. Very family friendly and very very good barbque

Is this the finest bbq in Hoston? No. But then again, this is Houston and that is a pretty dang high bar to reach. It is a decent bbq for the price, pretty consistent and worth eating. I like the green beans and the fried okra, and the potato salad isn’t bad. The hot rolls are a treat, tho I do wish they’d serve butter, not the fake yellow stuff. I have never actually had room for dessert, although they look tempting. The iced tea is good, and there is a fair selection of beers and some wine.

Best bang for your buck in terms of BBQ, especially for the lunch crowd. Under $ 9.00 for your choice of meat, which they pile on, plus as many sides as you can fit on your plate. I’m pretty sure you can even go back up and get more sides if you want. Good barbecue. Good price. Lot’s of food. There are better barbecue joints in the greatest Houston area, but I’ve yet to see a better lunch special, whether it be mom & pop hole in the wall, or a budding franchise.

I went to a birthday party here and tried to have an open mind. The employees were nice, they employ a lot of nearby high school kids, which is great. I had the combo plate, ribs, black pepper sausage and ham. It was mediocre at best. The ham had no flavor and the beans I had for a side were horrible. One thing I did like was the fried okra that my friend was eating. I won’t be returning. There are much better BBQ restaurants in Houston.

The food is pretty good here. It’s not as good as Rudy’s but they never have seating problems and the staff is fast and friendly.

Yum! Some good barbeque. I’d skip the sausage, but most of the food is good. Staff is nice. I was impressed, however the sides weren’t that great.

LOVE! My first time grabbing something for take-out on lunch. Manager helped me, and was very sweet! Great customer service! Lunch menu price was average, and filled me up! Did not hesitate or charge me for extra bbq sauce. I will definitely be back.

Not the Best BBQ I’ve had, but there was not much else around. Food seemed to have been sitting a while on the steam tables. We were there on a Weekday night and the service was good. Loved the hot rolls.

Lunch specials — beef, sausage, pork, or ham for under $ 8.95? We were hooked even before we went down the line to see the meats. The beef brisket is by far the best thing on the menu. These bad boys have a very subtle hickory flavor and are perfectly tender. We’ve been here three times, and they have yet to scrimp on the beef. The portions are generous, and I don’t know if you could ever get that in California for that price(and two sides!). Not only do you scoop as much sides as you can possibly fit on the tray, but they welcomed me to come up and take seconds(of the sides). I am not sure if that was just because we had ordered the lunch special, but I could hardly believe my ears. In California, that’s an extra four dollars at a normal restaurant, easy. In Texas, taking extra sides is highly encouraged — even free. I love it! The ribs are excellent. They are slightly charred but the meat is still soft, and easily taken off with a fork. I recommend adding in the sauce, where the beef brisket doesn’t need anything. The sausage is standard. Go to Rudy’s or Goode Co. BBQ for better sausage. When you opt for take out, you can buy per pound for 12.95, which is a pretty good price. They offer you a complimentary drink while you wait, and bread too! Love the hospitality here. They really strive for repeat business here. Lucille’s BBQ in CA, you have been replaced.

3÷13÷141:16pm — I did not have a lot of time for lunch, so I decided to hit up on some franchise BBQ places I have been avoiding. As I was going through the cafeteria style line it felt a lot like Luby’s. The jello next to the cash register confirmed my deja vu. The Barbecue Fiend blog also confirmed my out of Luby’s body experience as he wrote about the very same. Luby’s meets Texas BBQ. I scored Spring Creek BBQ a 76 out of 100. This is Regional Texas BBQ. Smoke: Hickory. As I walked up to the front door, I got excited when I spotted two large smoke stacks. However, inside were two large black steel cladded Olé Hickorys on full display. We use gas and we’re proud of it! Oh well as least you know what your getting. Brisket: Good. Standard gasser 1/8in smoke ring beneath a paper thin bark. Spring Creek definitely understands how important tenderness is for good BBQ. My slices were near perfect tender. No knife needed. Smoke was mild to faint. No noticeable rub. Use the sauce. Ribs: Very Good. Once again near perfect tenderness but slightly on the overcooked side. Soft cake bite with clean bone. They throw the rack on a grill for a nice char flavor. There was a faint rub seasoning. I liked these ribs. No sauce needed. Sausage: Poor. I just don’t like this style of sausage and its not Texas style sausage. A very fine ground pork link with no traditional spice just salt. No after taste unless salt counts. Its greasy bologna. Use the sauce or skip all together. Sauce: Excellent. They sell this stuff by the jar and I bet sales are good. A very sweet tomato based sauce with a little bit of smokiness. This stuff was so good I dipped my fresh baked yeast roll in it. I thought about buying a jar but knew the wife would comment about the 6 other bottles of unopened sauce.

We were visiting the Houston area stopped here to eat. Brisket was tender, ribs were yummy and chicken was well cooked. Macaroni and cheese and potatoe salad were good too. Lady came around with hot rolls straight from the oven. They were delicious. Friendly staff, clean restrooms good place for barbecue. Unilocal Star Rating 5 stars: I loved it. Will be back and bring others to try it. 4 stars: I liked it. Will be back and suggest others to give it a try. 3 stars: It was good. Will be back but there was something that wasn’t just right. 2 stars: It was okay. Would return if others wanted to but won’t drive far. 1 star: Will not be returning.
