Without Saba’s review, I would never know this Starbucks existed. I’ve seen the signs whenever I shop at Randall’s at night. Of course, it’s not open. The concession stand is small and mixed in with a walkway to second elevator, employee entrance and its sitting area. Okay. I finally found it. Once awhile, I need a cup of hot coffee to warm me up or cool me down. I could also catch a break or unwind my day. However, I am not a frequent shopper at Randall’s. Being able to sit and watch people shopping from above is really a treat.

Crappy service… the late Wednesday shift is just lazy, doesn’t even acknowledge your existence…

Heading downtown this morning for a show at Jones Hall we were hungry for breakfast. Raining heavily this morning, we had to bypass our original choice, Corner Bakery due to high water on the frontage road. So as we Unilocaled for breakfast options downtown the breakfast club popped up on Travis but again high water was an issue so we couldn’t get there. But fortunately there was Randalls and a flood free parking lot in downtown Houston! That made the choice easy for us! Now they have a nice deli/food area where they were serving breakfast and we noticed they had breakfast burrito and sandwich options. My only complaint was the customer service could have been warmer. Wondering where to sit we were told upstairs where there was this Starbucks. I was in the mood for a latte so off we went. I order a chai tea latte but immediately noticed that it was way too sweet. Yuck! Oh well. I was going to complain but I noticed a line forming for the one lone soul there and she didn’t look like she was in a good mood so I just suffered for convenience sake. Now the the best chai tea latte I’ve had so far has been at Minuti Coffee. This was definitely subpar as well as the customer service sadly. First time at this Randalls downtown, even though it was a rainy day, I was hoping for some smiles and good customer service but unfortunately I didn’t feel it. Oh well…

So, this is my morning«go to» when the lines at the Starbucks on Milam and McGowen are absurd. This is a short drive from that location to the Randalls’. Getting to the Starbucks is a little tricky. If you park in the garage, you are technically on level B, so you take the elevator to «2» for the Starbucks, or walk up two flights of stairs. If you park at the grocery store level, you are at level«1», so you can walk up a flight of stairs or take the elevator. Depending on foot traffic as well as who ever has the same idea as you to stop by Starbucks in Randalls in the AM, your best bet may be the stairs. And, others have mentioned Wad the barista in the AM, and I echo their sentiments! He is prompt, friendly, and always gets the order the right. Got you in my back pocket, Starbucks @ Randalls!

Serves it’s purpose. Not that awesome to look at either, but location is alright considering I’m always in the area. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to hit this one specifically given the other two nicer locations within blocks.

This Starbucks is just nasty. It’s upstairs in a Randall’s store, and the cleanliness, upkeep, and general appearance is practically nonexistent. There are a lot of «street» people in this area, and apparently, they took the couch away because people were peeing on the couch!!! Next, half of the small tables are gone. There is a patio that at one time was pleasant, but the shade umbrellas disappeared, never to be seen again, so there’s only a short span in springtime when the outdoors can be enjoyed. Further, the patio deck is never cleaned properly — i.e., power washing. Instead, they just tell the staff to mop it down. Well, considering people have thrown up out there, and various other things, mopping ain’t going to do it. Just don’t go there!

Let me start off by saying … flies in the baked goods case. The girl closed early(which we did complain about), and had an attitude while answering the phone or delivering service. Yet she had no problem hooking up her friend and gossiping while I patiently stood there waiting. I have to come back because the location is awesome and I’m not walking anywhere else… so um… employees?

This is a Quite place above the grocery store. The gentleman that works there, Wade, is nice and friendly.
