Please be aware that this business has low integrity. In seeing that they opened a salon, I scheduled an appointment for Dec 30 for a rod set. The website requires you pay the entire cost upfront, so I paid $ 95 for the service. On the day of my appointment, I arrive on time and after a short wait, I am taken back to get my hair washed. After that, the stylist, Tonya, quickly looks at my hair and says it is too short to do a rod set and if she does it it won’t look good. I’m confused because I’ve seen a ton of pictures of nice looking rod sets on hair shorter than mine. I’m slightly frustrated and since she is saying she does not know how to properly do the style on my hair there is no point on moving forward with her. I ask my options and am switched to another stylist for a basic blowout which is listed on their website to cost $ 65 and up. After getting the most basic blowout with the curls already falling, this is when it gets bad. They refuse to refund the $ 30 difference in what I already paid and the service I received. They even attempt to come up with reasons on why the blowout should cost $ 95 because my hair is natural. Are you serious? That is the whole purpose of a blowout! After being treated poorly and having to wait almost an hour to get things resolved with the owner Paula, I am told they put in a refund for $ 30 back to my card. Now it has been 3 weeks and several calls in which I spoke directly to the owner and I still have not received my refund. This business does not have integrity. If you require your clients to pay up front, then refuse to give them the service they paid for and furthermore not refund their money and treat them respect, you are not running a business that will succeed.

This is my hair utopia! I have been going to this oasis since i did my big chop back in 2011. I was so happy that i no longer had to order all of my products online, they have everything i need in the store and more. Also, the lovely ladies that work there are very knowledgable and know about almost every product they carry. As long as i live in Houston I won’t be going any where else for my hair supplies.

Tendrils & Curls is great! Seriously everything you need if you’re a curly, wavy, or kinky girl like myself! No matter who is working when you go in, you can always get one on one time with the staff and have all of your questions answered! Be prepared to spend plenty!!! With the prices and all the goodies you’ll be sure to want to make a budget for yourself before you just walk in with hearts in eyes!

This is so wonderful! The service is so tailored to the person. I really felt as though they really cared and that is something that is not often found in a black beauty supply, I traveled from Dallas to visit this spot and was so worth the drive. So many options that you wont find anywhere on ground.

Love this place! The owner and her mother are dolls. I’ve been shopping here since they opened and always have great experiences. They also hold customer appreciation events, book signings, meet and greets with YouTubers, etc.
I remember once I was rushing to get to the store after work. Paula (the owner) was locking up as I arrived, but when she saw me, she let me come in and shop. She didn’t rush me, either, and she checked on me to see if I needed any help.
The only downside that I can think of is that they have stopped carrying some lines that I really like, like Qhemet Biologics, but that happens. I would say that if there is one product that you really, really want, just call ahead to see if they have it in stock. Overall, this is a great shop and I’ll continue shopping here for years to come!

A product junkies heaven and worst nightmare! Lol So many products, so little time and money! I love this cut hair boutique and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Check them out for all of your natural hair needs!

I love the customer service at this location. This is the place that I purchase my BlairCare Curli Jelli. They have a wealth of products for natural hair care. I highly recommend supporting this establishment.

I’m so glad a place like this exists! As a recovering natural hair product junkie, I thought I’d seen the majority of natural hair lines out there. This place proved me wrong. They have so many brands to choose from that I’m 99% sure you’ll find what you need and works for your coils. The ladies here were very helpful and offered recommendations on products and how to apply them. I ended up getting a moisturizing cream and twisting butter. I will be a return customer.

I’ve never experienced such excellent customer service until I stepped foot into Tendrils & Curls. I came into this store looking for a good moisturizer. The owner’s mother personally recommended products for my thick kinky mane, even going as far as to personally smooth the product in my hair for a demo, even though she was allergic to a certain ingredient in it. While I wasn’t too fond of the product that I purchased per her recommendation, I really appreciated the attentiveness and overall experience I had in this store. I live on the North side but I will be making trips downtown to support this lovely business. Highly recommended for all naturals. They have in stock most natural brands you can imagine, as well as handmade accessories, jewelry, and clothing at the front counter. The layout and décor of the store is also very chic. And the store also hosts occasional natural hair events and get together’s.

This is a great natural hair store find in Houston! This store has a wide selection of products that ordering online is a thing in the past for me now that I can pick these up in person. The location is also pretty cute, its located in a small french quater kind of boutique (but parking can be tight sometimes. so best to go early). The owners of the store are also very friendly and as other reviewers said they make you feel like you’re part of their family which is a plus for me =).
I also heard this shop does events for hair care, which I have yet to attend cause I’am so lazy, but I heard from acquaintances that they’re lots of fun!

I been coming here for about a year now… it took a lot of trial and error to understand what I really like but I finally have my routine. Not only do I love the product but also the jewelry and wardrobes. Its a one of a kind spot and I love everything about this place.
The owners Paula and her mother work hard to make you part of the family. They will answer any question and will walk into the bathroom and let you try something for yourself. If on your first visit it is busy and you are confused… just wait… its okay to ask questions. If you are about healthy hair… you have to stop by and see the place for yourself.
This store is a like a Sally’s of natural hair care. Majority of these products are all over the globe and unless you have time to read product review after review, this place houses everything you ever heard of and more in one place.

This place is a one stop shop with every thing a natural girl could want. I mean, it’s a God send. The store rep answered every question my friend and I had, along with providing samples (via testers) to try on the spot. She knows the product, which is always helpful when making a life or death decision about ones hair.
Upon check out, I was pleased to find that seminars and classes (ranging from Dry Hair to Styling) are offered, and are available at a reasonable price. For the variety of product lines that are available, it’s my belief that the cost will not break the bank.
I’ll definitely make this spot my go to for all things natural hair!

This boutique is nirvana for coily/​curly/​kinky hair! Every product imaginable and unimaginable is sold here. I attended an event they hosted back in the latter part of May 2013 and had the best time! Very informative demonstrations and fun game of scavenger hunt (which the team I was on WON! SCORE!!!).
The parking is tight but is so worth the effort to pay them a visit and patronize this hidden gem!

My hair is Super Curly and I’ve been needing a good moisturizer for it. The owner of Cargill Massage Therapy let me know about this place during my last visit. The place is right off of shepherd around Westheimer. It was a little over whelming as they had a lot of products to choose from and I had no idea what to choose. I went through some of them, read ingredients and chose two from a line I had never used before called «Camille Rose Naturals.» The owner was busy when I got there and I was actually hoping she would recommend something specific. I asked her before paying if she thought those products would be OK for moisturizing my curls and she said yes. My hair was pretty straight when I was there, so maybe I threw her a curve since she didn’t get to see my super curly hair at it’s best. Overall it’s a nice store with a lot of great products. I have only started using the products recently, but so far they are A-​OK.

If your hair has any texture at all, this is the place to go.
I am a Hispanic lady. Not one of those with stick-​straight flowing black Mayan hair, no. I’m the one with the thick, unruly hair that doesn’t know if it wants to be curly or wavy. It’s as confused as I am while perusing through the Cheesecake Factory’s 20-​page menu.

I walked in and was immediately greeted by Paula; the most lovely, personable and knowledgeable person on this earth.
She touched my hair (mind you I walked in sans product in my hair… that’s right, I walked out in public au natural. Call me brave, call me insane) She touched my hair & immediately took me to this area of her cute shop and began explaining this line of products that would be perfect for my hair texture and taming the endless rule of the frizz.
I am excited and Paula has a customer for life. I can’t wait to refer all my other curly-​haired friends to Paula so she can drop the knowledge on them too.

Paula is a genius. I used the products she recommended and my hair doesn’t feel as dry and has some serious shine. It’s not as frizzy and the waves/​curls are more defined. I see this difference after only 2 uses. This woman is a GENUIS. Ladies, run, don’t walk, to this shop. Your hair deserves it.

It’s a hidden gem

Houston’s only store that exclusively sells products for curly/​kinky/​coily hair. Black owned and operated selling many hair products for Black hair that come from Black owners. So what that means is that a lot of the products are really good and are REALLY expensive. They carry most products that are only found online or direct from the manufacturer. This place is mostly for hair care stylists.
The owner’s mother was there when I was visited this afternoon and she was holding down the fort. Really sweet woman that makes the visit feel like you’re heading over to your auntie’s house. Nice and welcoming store that is great for a piece of the Black community in a really white neighborhood, but definitely get ready to pay money out of the ass.

I was so fortunate to stumble across this cute, one-​stop shop* boutique for Curly, Wavy & Coily hair. They carry all my favorite curly products from local, natural, high-​end and hard to find online sources.
Can’t wait to restock my shampoo and conditioner! Also, great vibe and customer service. I usually get my hair products from Whole Foods but will be coming here instead.
