It’s a nice Chinese restaurant, yet cheaper and faster than a Panda Express. Large hot servings. Lunch comes with soup and egg roll for $ 7.50 The ambiance is actually quite nice, with linen table cloths and tasteful Asian decorations.

Good Olé’ Uncle Tong. Second time at this place which means it’s good. Full disclosure I eat nothing killed so I can only rate veggie options. I asked for special plates not offered on menu and they had no problems. I ordered rice noodles, veggies and tofu cooked in the wok. Food was good, quick and hot. The lady serving me is fantastic. They had some sort of buffet set up but I didn’t look into it. The place was clean and service was great. I’ll be seeing My Uncle Tong again when back in Houston. Go check this place out.

Just OK. Food was pretty flavorless and unmemorable. It was so tasteless I cant even remember what i ordered… and I photographed my meal. I am sure I won’t return.

I liked this place a lot. Arrived around 12:15 during the lunch rush and were seated right away. Within less than 10 minutes we had our soup and lunch. The food was fresh and the chicken was all white meat. Everything for $ 8. That can’t be beat for good Chinese around here and as much as I love the hibachi place next door, this is a quicker and more quiet alternative. Will definitely be back.

I tried this place three times, picked here different dishes and was continuously disappointed. I’ve never been picky with Chinese but I just feel this food lacks flavor.

If the food was free, I might consider going back. Alas, it is not. I considered awarding two stars, but my order was wrong and it didn’t even come with a fortune cookie! The future looks bleak for this place.

Been going here once a week for a year now. The food is good for a «fast lunch» Chinese restaurant. Lunch specials are very affordable and the staff are always friendly and caring. Patrons are mostly professionals from nearby.

Solid lunch spot, pick up order takes 10−15min on average and hits the spot. Appetizer, soup and main course for$ 7.50 — can’t beat that. The crowd is oil and gas professionals, it’s cozy inside and a nice place to eat. Staff is friendly, highly recommend it if you’re looking for an alternative to burgers and fries.

Pretty good. I got the shrimp and chicken with cashews and it was pretty darn good. It came with an egg roll and I chose wonton soup. Egg roll was alright. Clean not sitting under a heat lamp forever. Soup was awesome. Great flavor in wonton soup. I was pleasantly surprised. Large full wonton. The meal itself had a good flavor. But only like 3 shrimp and only vegetables were celery and carrots. tasted great I wish it had broccoli or baby corn and a fee more shrimp. I ordered out and it only too about 6 – 7 minutes and $ 8. I’ll be back for sure.

Been here a few times I’ve never had a disappointing experience in regards to the food. Shrimp fried rice is EVERYTHNG. I didnt like the soup. Peppered steak delicious and tender, and the person I came with enjoyed the general chicken. The waitstaff is average.

Do not order from this restaurant! The food was very poor quality, the staff was extremely rude! That’s the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life.

I went to Uncle Tong’s on a Wednesday. Don’t know if it was an off day or what. I ordered egg drop soup, sweet and sour chicken, and shrimp fried rice. I didn’t like the chicken it wasn’t fresh. The rice and egg drop soup had a different taste than I was accustomed too. Sorry I won’t be going back.

Awesome lunch! We had the orange chicken and Kung pao. Both were fresh, hot, great portion size and wonderful flavor! Lunch special is $ 7.50!

Pretty good food, the fried rice wasn’t too greasy like other places. Wife and kids liked their food. My wife had General Tso’s chicken which she said it was too spicy, but had very good flavor. Kids had Sweet and Sour chicken which was pretty good.

This is the only Chinese restaurant I eat at around the area I work. The lunch menu is reasonably priced and many options to choose from. My favorite is the spicy shrimp with veggies. The lunch menu comes with your choice of soup and either an egg roll or crab wonton. I’ve tried other Chinese in the area but keep coming back to Uncle Tong’s, they know how to prepare it just the way I like it. This place gets very crowded at lunch, come by 11:30 if you want to beat the lunch crowd.

I’ve been to Uncle Tong’s twice, and I have to say that they’re definitely pretty good Americanized Chinese food. If you’re working in the energy corridor, this is pretty good place to grab lunch because you can be in and out in under an hour. Their egg drop soup is definitely the sketchy soup that I’ve been in search of since I’ve moved to Houston. Food: 4 stars. What’s causing this place to lose a star? The fact that my coworker found dirt in his cup. Twice. The first time he sent it back with the hopes that the next cup of water would be clean. But again, dirt was stuck to the side of the cup, and he just gave up on drinking anything from the restaurant. Garlic chicken was pretty good. I expected it to be spicier since the food had a little spicy symbol next to it. I’ve also gotten beef with broccoli here. The staff/restaurant seems to be friendly to vegetarians, as they’re very informed about the food and can adapt it easily. Prices are $ 7.50 for a lunch plate that contains the meal, rice, soup, and an eggroll/crab rangoon. Not too bad, I suppose, especially when you’re catering to all the oil and gas influx of money that’s around. I doubt that I’ll ever be around this area again soon, so my two experiences are going to have to be the end of my review. Maybe some day I’ll be back, but I’m more of the take-your-lunch kind of girl, so I doubt that time will come when I’m working much further south.

On Thursdays, they have a Singapore Curry Chicken special. I went for the special and it was ok. Nothing to rave about but nothing to send back. I work in the building right next to the restaurant so the place was near capacity during the lunch hour. However, the service was very fast and we were in and out. The décor is pretty dated with floral wallpaper but it was quite fitting for the style of restaurant. I would like to come back and probably will try the traditional plates as I heard they are pretty tasty. If the typical Chinese(American style) dishes are good I would give them a bump to 3 stars, just can’t justify 3 right now.

I’ve had better beef & broccoli, orange chicken, general tso’s, egg rolls and soups from the influx of chinese eatery competitors in the city, and i’ve also had worse. Service afforded them a 2nd star but lack of great taste, creativity and atmosphere limited my experience. Should you work in the area and you have a taste for chinese on your lunch break then Uncle Tong’s will suffice. But if you take someone on a date here hopefully you’re breaking it off b/c otherwise it may be your last date – not romantic at all. Just can’t see myself eating here for anything other than lunch on the company’s dime, not mine. Bathroom wasn’t clean which makes me think too much about the kitchen. Service wasn’t poor but they just met the standard, busy and all. Cool name for a restaurant, though.

It tastes like pretty standard chinese fast food, but at least it seems homemade. I appreciate the fact that there’s lots of veggies in their dishes, and fresh ones, not broccoli that’s been wilted and the ends have turned brown.
