Pappasito’s Cantina

I’ve been to this location a few times now, twice in the main dining room and once at the bar. Both times I’ve received excellent service and the food is usually pretty consistent. For me, I love coming to Sito’s in the summer during watermelon season when they have their fresh watermelon margaritas. So yummy!
On my most recent trip, I sat in the bar area, at a table. Away from the bar, as with most other establishments, it’s harder for bartenders to see you, so the service isn’t quite as top notch.
The lunch menu offers many great selections, for a fraction of the regular prices, but you receive less food of course. For beef fajitas, look at spending at least $ 16.95 for the lunch portion, which allows you to make 3 nice sized fajita tacos.
If you come on Wednesdays after 5pm, they are still running the ½ price combo fajitas for 2 promotion. You can also make it all beef for an additional $ 5.25
On the way out, don’t forget to stop by the hostesses area for mints and toothpick, as you find at all Pappa’s restaurants.

I don’t live in Texas any more but come back about every five year my high school reunions. Going to Pappasitos used to be such a treat as it was unique good Mexican food and drinks. Last night tasted like what I can get in Kentucky. Average margarita. I didn’t care for the selection of salsa. The queso was gluey. The fajitas were just, well, the same as what you can get anywhere. It was all good. It just wasn’t anything to write home about (so I’ll write TA about it… lol). To top it all off, it was very crowded and we were a table of 8 old friends seeing each other for the first time in years and someone from another table came over and told us to quiet down. That was a bit of a damper on the whole thing. Just odd. I won’t go back.

I was in town and my friends wanted to try this place since its pretty Houston famous, so I had high expectations but they were quickly deflated. I looked over the menu and asked the server if she could give me detail what was inside the tamales and she didn’t know. I asked if she could find out before I ordered, she had another server randomly come over and tell me the detail of the tamales, I didn’t want to order something then not like it. I didn’t find anything that struck me to get but, decided to just get the very overpriced basic chicken quesadilla. I also ordered the sangria which is very large and worth the $, I got my check and got the wrong change back from this server and then just needed change for $ 5 and that took her a very long time to get back to me, I don’t know what happened, but it wasn’t a great experience. Not impressed with the overpriced food which is just pretty basic and the servers who don’t know the menu and short change you.

I can not say the food at Pappasito’s is not good. However the service at the bar is awful. If you are not wearing a black Pappasitos shirt they don’t talk to you. We sat down and got our drinks reasonably fast. After that our order was put in wrong by our bartender. When they brought out the wrong food it was very inconvenient for her to put in our correct order. We finally were able to close out after shift change with the new bartender/​manager who was polite. This was our second time Allison and Brandon working with awful service. Don’t anticipate us going for back anytime soon.

I love this restaurant. Great ambiance, great food, great service. I went on a Wednesday night at around 7pm and the wait was around 30mins. It gets pretty busy but it’s worth the wait. I had the quesadilla and it was delicious.

This is hands down my favorite place to go for my birthday. I love their salsa, which is like a mix between Pico and salsa. The fresh tortillas not only taste great but smell up the whole building (in the best way). The fajitas are what I normally get but I will say the fajita enchiladas are pretty good when I want something different

Been here twice and both times had wonderful service. The food was delicious and again the service was great!

Tex-​Mex is Tex-​Mex. There is nothing different here when it comes to the offerings. The quality is good, though.
You get three complimentary salsas and thin, crisp chips. Tortillas are made in-​house. I had some corn, and, they were thin and tasty.
Cheese enchiladas came with re-​fried beans and rice, as usual. Rice was separate and had a good, delicate flavoring and I thought the beans were toothsome.

At first glance, the prices may seem a bit steep, but when you get your food, you will see why. The portions are huge. I went with two friends and we all said we could have easily split all our our meals between two people. I had a steak fajita and a cheese enchilada. Both were higher quality than typical sit down chain Mexican restaurants. They did not skimp on the amount of meat in the fajita! We also got a pitcher of house blended margarita. They brought out a giant pitcher with enough for 3 glasses each. Our waiter was super friendly even though we were the last customers there.

For starters, huge portions! I say again huge portions. Psst, don’t tell anyone, but they have an awesome fajita special on Wednesday nights that can easily feed two. Every time we eat here, plenty of leftovers to take home. But it can get crowded really fast, so expect a sizeable wait during the busy times. However, the tableside guac has been a disappointment ordered it twice, and that won’t happen again. Among my favorites are the Plato San Juan, and the El Sombrero. I recommend stopping in here, as the service has always been amazing.

Made a to go order today, and was slightly disappointed. Ordered medium beef fajitas and of course the food was good. We ordered a large order of queso, but I didn’t think to check the bag to make sure there were chips. Unfortunately there weren’t. Someone in the to go department needs to figure their stuff out. Not a huge issue, but still disappointing. Asked for extra tortillas, and only received a couple extra. Next time will definitely be checking the bag and specifying how many extra, because of course there will be a next time.

Sat at a table by the bar. took our waitress about 5 mins to come to the table to take our drink order. Waitress was very monotone with our table but very friendly with the other 2 tables.
I ordered a queso Blanco from the Happy Hour menu. Appetizer should just be called queso because there wasn’t anything «blanco» about it. I’ve had it several times before at other locations but it was indeed queso blanco. Didn’t even come out «flaming». I guess it depends on the location and server what they want to serve you.
Hubby ordered a margarita with salt on the rim, he got a margarita with no salt. Fajitas were great! Love their black beans! Hubby ordered refried beans but got charro beans. I must mention that it was around 5:30pm and it wasn’t crazy busy so these small issues shouldn’t have been overlooked. Really considering finding another Pappasito’s to go to. Not getting the «Wow» experience that I’m used to from them.

Food here is ALWAYS excellent. That is a given. I especially love their chile rellenos. My problems with this location are this: it is ALWAYS MEGA CROWDED. I mean to say you generally never arrive to eat there and don’t have to wait to be seated. Secondly, it is very, very, very very loud here. Conversations over your meal are done at high decibel levels, just to hear one another. Third, it feels like you’re crammed in as tight as you can be. The tables are so close together you can’t get in and out easily. Servers squeeze through and bump into patrons. Lastly, this is really expensive Tex-​Mex. That profit margin must be huge. I would rather go to any number of places with food as good, better ambiance and lower prices.

I popped in here with a friend for a quick lunch at the bar. I had the table side guacamole, crab cake and to drink I had a large wave (sangria swirled into a frozen margarita). Our service was fantastic. I loved the concept of having a made to order side of guacamole made right before your eyes. The crab cake was nice, but for my tastes there was a little too much filler. I love the Pappas restaurants and this was a good experience at this location.

We came here because we rode passed it one evening while here on vacation from California. We were seated right away, the staff was very friendly. Steve was our waiter and he was very nice and friendly and very informative! The food is a little pricey but it was good, so it’s worth it! We will return if we come back to Texas!

During my visit I was quickly seated and brought chips and salsa before someone came to take my drink order. Their lunch specials are pretty big and filling. I ordered their fajitas. Having lived in Houston my entire life and moving away to California I look forward to coming back to eat their delicious fajitas. The fajitas were tender and and cooked just right. The tortillas are made there and are very fluffy and soft. Our waiter quickly brought our drinks and never made us wait too long. The service was great and the food was even better.

Oh Pappasitos I had such high hopes for you.
Our waitress was alright, didn’t get a refill.
Food came out fast, problem is… The nasty lil bug that landed next to our $ 70 dinner. I’ll be contacting the health department tomorrow morning.

This place always seems to be packed whenever I go here but I have never had a bad experience. It is usually well staffed and the waiters who have waited on us usually take care of us really well.
They constantly replace the chip bowls with fresh chips, even if it’s not empty.
Their fajitas are simply delicious each time I get them and what sets them apart from other places like this, is the melted butter.
