I went here once with a groupon and loved it. It was very slow but the food was great so we booked for Valentine’s Day… HUGE mistake! First off, we waited over 20 minutes in our car for the valet to come. We would have just drove off and parked but there really were no other places nearby to go. We finally get inside and they seat us in probably the worst seat in the whole restaurant. We were in a small little room(didn’t feel like you were at a nice steakhouse) crammed with so many people and our table was of course in a corner with no room to breath. We tried to look past it and ordered our beverages and food. I ordered a sweetened iced tea and my boyfriend ordered a Coke. They brought my drink over with sugar packets. Most places tell you when they only have unsweetened tea because of how different it tastes-he didn’t. I did not even take a single sip of the glass and never got the chance to say anything to him because we never saw our waiter again. Minutes pass as we wait for bread to be brought to the table. It never came. A bus boy brought us our food and we kindly asked him to bring some over. The food was horrible! The filet mignon– which we ordered«medium» came to us burnt on the outside with little to no pink on the inside. There were no juices so it was very dry, and so tough that it was hard to cut with the butter knives they gave us. My boyfriend told the guy he ordered it «butterflied» and he took it back to the kitchen. He came back with it simply cut in half. If that was all he was going to do, we could have done that ourselves! Aside from that, The«bread» was more like undercooked dough balls with no flavor! I waited for the waiter to come over to say something, but he never came again until he dropped off the check– he didn’t even ask how the food was!!! I didn’t want to cause a scene so we just paid and left. We were out of there within 45 minutes. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

Agree with the reviews about this place going downhill. On our most recent visit, in addition to an unchewable filet mignon and a disappointing, small replacement T-bone priced as a porterhouse, we were treated unbelievably rudely by the manager, Leanne who interrupted our private conversation with another couple and essentially told us to keep our opinions to ourselves. I emailed the owners to let them know about the manager’s inappropriate conduct and received no reply. So much for their dedication to hospitality and customer service. My negative review on their Facebook page generated a so-called«apology» that defended their manager’s rude behavior and subtly chastised us again for supposedly«bad mouthing» the restaurant we we «sitting in,» as though we weren’t paying customers. They then quickly removed both my comment and their apology from the restaurant’s FB page. Like their employees, they apparently don’t want people to know what eating at their restaurant is really like nowadays, and how much it’s changed for the worse. Definitely won’t be back to this place we used to visit often, and will update friends and colleagues we’ve previously recommended Mac’s to with our greatly changed opinion. Really disappointed at the owners’ and managers’ utter disregard for their customers.

Not my idea of a quality steakhouse. Disappointed. Only good thing was the attentive and kind waiter, Joe

I came here with my beau after discovering yes a groupon the appetizers need some work. I was disappointed by the crab cakes. However main course yum!!! I had steak with spinach and a delicious italian grain(sorry i don’t remember the name) As much as im in the village I never noticed this restaurant. I went during the week not on a busy night. I will go on another night try something else and will give an updated review :)

Went there with my children and girlfriend for my birthday dinner, lets say that will be the last time I ever dine at Mac’s again. The service was horrible, my meal was so bad that I sent it back and the cake for my birthday never came. Bye Mac’s for good!

Been wanting to try this place and my mom surprised us with a groupon, so we came. Pre fixe lunch was perfect for us apps, entrée, even soda included! Easy parking too. Finally got to try a steak burger and fries were delicious. Mozzarella wasn’t the best ever but that’s expected I mean it’s a steak house… My hubs loved his burger so much he was happy to eat my half too :) we’d definitely come back. No one else was dining when we went but cool music was on and our waiter was great. It was like we rented the place for ourselves…

This is our second time in about two months that my friend and I had brunch/lunch at Mac’s and again I must say we are calling this our second home. We just love this place especially Mark our waiter who remembered us and was happy to see us. Mac’s is such a cozy place. The food is fabulous and their French fries are the best in the whole world. Honestly. The service is 5 star. We were treated like royalty and we will definitely be making another trip to Mac’s. Take it from two foodies and try it, you will not be disappointed. See you at Mac’s.

Came here for the office party last night. Had a great time. They reserve a nice room upstairs for us. Although not physically separated by walls the acoustics from downstairs did not find their way over to us and we felt like we had a private room. The waiters were great. My water glass was never empty and I never had to ask for it to be filled. They have a great selection of interesting beers on tap as well as great mix drinks. The«happy hour» with horderves was small(only 3 options, veg dumplings, spicy meatballs and shrimp) but they were very good as well. A co-worker and I ended up splitting the Dry Aged Porter for Four. The cut was awesome. We ordered it medium rare and most restaurants are afraid to undercook the steak and typically give a medium cooked steak. This place cooked it to perfection. No pepper, no sauce nothing was required. The juices from the steak were more than enough to enjoy the savory steak. We ordered the side of creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and onions and mushrooms. All delicious. I would recommend the spinach over the other sides. We also ordered the calamari for appetizer, baked clams, mac and cheese, thick cut bacon slab, crab cakes, and a few other things. Everything was great. I recommend them all. Overall experience, it was very nice. Obviously on the pricier side of steak houses but worth the experience.

Love their fresh made potato chips at the bar. Came for dinner with a friend. The server Ryan was great. Super friendly and accommodating. We both ordered the skirt steak which was not chewy or stringy or dry. It was moist, tender and lean – delicious. The French fries seemed homemade too. If I lived closer I’d be coming more often.

We came here once years ago and enjoyed it. We came back last night with intrepidation due to the many mediocre reviews, which we’re well deserved. The good– Beautiful environment in a great town, actually sat us early, and a charming, personable, young waiter named Evan. The porterhouse pork chop was very good. The bad– We were brought a different salad than the one we actually ordered. If that was the only issue, no big deal. But it wasn’t. One of the entrees ordered was the tuna. It was ordered, with no sauce, medium and blackened in preparation, the spicier the better. The plate arrived with sauce and was immediately turned back. The new plate was presented rare to raw and was barely blackened. It had no kick whatsoever. We weren’t sending this one back, but neither could it be eaten. Upon arriving home, we placed it in a skillet to correct the rawness. We couldn’t wait to get get the check and leave. So long, Mac. The ratings you’ve gotten are well deserved. A service attentiveness /quality control upgrade is required.

Like many of my fellow Huntington residents, I went with my friends to enjoy a nice meal during Restaurant Week. We were looking forward to a quality meal in a nice steakhouse. That is not what we got. When we arrived there was a little confusion regarding the valet parking that was quickly sorted out. What happened next over the 90 minutes or so we were there, was one disappointing thing after another. The bar was nice, there was a nice lady singing in there, but sadly nobody was paying her any mind. That’s a tough gig, if you ask me. Our reservation was made in advance for 7:45pm, and around 8:00, we were led to our table, upstairs in what looked to be a catering or party room. The reason, I mention this is important. We were seated, given menus, and left alone for about 5 or 10 minutes. We immediately noticed most of the tables were full, and there was only one, maybe two servers actually taking orders. Other people were running the food. We looked over the special menu, a price fixe menu for Restaurant Week. The sampling was decent, nothing really special or unique being offered. My friend Cathy ordered an appetizer of tomato and mozzarella salad and the roasted chicken entrée, her husband Curt ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, and wanted the Prime Rib. I ordered the Lobster Bisque and also wanted the Prime Rib. The server, who was very polite and hard working, took our orders and returned a few minutes later to tell us the restaurant was out of Prime Rib. We asked if we could order a different steak, since they were out of the main special and it was our first time dining there. About 5 more minutes or so later, he returned saying that would could do so. About 20 minutes after we sat, our appetizers were delivered to our table. Curt has his 5 jumbo shrimp, Cathy her mozzarella tomato salad(looked from a can like another person mentioned) and my soup came as well. During this time, we finishing our drinks and were hoping we would be asked for another. That never happened. I really wanted to try my soup, but I was missing the one important thing to use, a soup spoon. I sat there for close to 15 minutes before our server returned and gave it to me. We also noticed at the next table, a very unhappy patron, and our server running around like crazy, really kind of overwhelmed. Nobody was going around to tables to see if anyone needed anything. We were seated at our table nearly for an hour before our meals arrived. Note we had finished our drinks and appetizers a good 20 – 25 minutes before, and were basically sitting there. We even talked to the couple at the table next to us who were extremely unhappy with their meal. Suddenly a runner brings out a tray stand and a tray with three plates on them and just leaves it there sitting next to me. Left hot food unattended just like that. We were annoyed and hungry, and I had to serve the plates to us rather than wait for someone to come by and do that. I immediately noticed the plating was sloppy, like the food was literally thrown atop it. My plate was even dirty, with some kind of sauce on the side of it. I wish I could say that was the worst of it. Cathy’s chicken was dry and not seasoned well. Our steaks were mediocre looking and not what one would expect from a steakhouse. And once again, waiting for a utensil. No steak knives. We had to ask for them. Finally we had just about enough. We politely spoke to our server, expressed our displeasure with the experience, not with him at all, and asked for the check. We mulled over skipping dessert, but opted to take it to go. Three slices of cheesecake to go(we tried them when we got home and they were awful, with a bitter aftertaste.) Before we left, Cathy and the lady from the table next to ours, spoke to the hostess about our experiences. Let me just say the hostess was gracious, personable and she was mortified to hear about what we had experienced. She brought the General manager over to hear the story. His body language and his tone made us feel like he really didn’t care about, he went over to the POS system and handed each lady an envelope with a gift card in it. We have no idea the value of the card. The fact that everything was so chaotic, unorganized, the poor food quality, and even his nonchalance about it was very disappointing. Sorry Mac’s Steakhouse, we will not be returning to your establishment. Fine dining requires getting it right every time, and if you cannot handle the extra business from Restaurant Week, then perhaps you should not participate in the event. I feel bad for the staff, who were doing their best to work in a dysfunctional operation. It was evident that solid leadership was lacking last night. The lack of planning and execution was painfully evident throughout our mediocre meal.

If truth be told, I was not looking forward to my recent dinner at Mac. Previous meals there had been disappointing and now I was going again — this time with the aid of a Groupon. The fine print is onerous. You must reserve in advance, but not with open table, and must tell the reservationist that you are using the discount. I arrive to an empty restaurant. Thursday night — it’s 7:00 and the place is deserted. We are taken to a nice table and read the specials. Prices are very reasonable and as I go through the menu I keep thinking why is this place empty? Drinks and starters are good. But this is a steakhouse and the steaks served to us(strip and ribeye) were awful. They were cooked as ordered, but to my mind they were barely diner quality. I fear that with all the steakhouses in the area Groupon may not be enough to save Mac’s Steakhouse.

It pains me to write this review, especially since this restaurant features a great Happy Hour($ 8.00 Vodka Martinis and a very nice and friendly bartender). I dined here this evening, ordering from the Long Island Restaurant Week menu. The space is attractive and has a thirty car parking lot, which is a big deal in Huntington BUT… ASTOTHEFOOD: The Lobster Bisque Appetizer was good. However, the Prime Rib, ordered medium rare, was well done. Its replacement was medium rare but, most likely, was not a Prime Rib, lacking the delicious fat-laced exterior which characterizes Prime Rib. I do not dig misrepresentation. Moreover, it tasted substantially worse than any steak I could cook in my own kitchen. It got worse. The«dessert», purportedly cheesecake, was a(thankfully) small portion of some absurd hybrid between cheesecake and sponge cake(not good!!). I will not return to this restaurant. For its sake, I sure hope that the quality of their food on a daily basis is not what I experienced.

We loved it! Went on Saturday at 1pm with the groupon for 2 for 1 pre-fix. The tables filled up as we ate: Baked clams were perfect, tasty and tender. Tuna Tartar was good, but the seaweed salad was the true star on that plate. Husband had sliced filet mignon sandwich, also excellent but the steak fries were totally awesome! Crisp, tender, perfectly seasoned and piping hot! My short ribs were fork tender and plentiful, grilled asparagus was crisp, but the Parmesan potato side was absolutely delightful! Crisp, hot and a delicious addition. The waiter was great and happy to accept the groupon, as well as to offer suggestions. There were so many options for the pre-fix! We can’t wait to return! And oh, did I mention that I rarely eat red meat? No regrets.

Went to Mac’s Steakhouse for lunch. I had a groupon that essentially made the prix fixe lunch 2 for 1. Although we came early(noon), there was only one other occupied table. By the time we left, sometime after one, again there was only one other table of patrons. Never a great sign in my opinion. There was actually no one in the front of the restaurant to greet you and I had to continue into the main dining area where my friend was already seated. The food was mediocre. I had a shrimp and avocado salad, that while fresh and not untasty, ultimately proved to be a rather weird combination of flavors. What was most bothersome was the persistence of tiny flies that circled our table throughout the meal. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he told me that they were aware of the problem and working on it. I have visited some great restaurants while using groupon. Sadly, this was not one of them!

We went here once and probably won’t go back. The place seems to suffer from schizophrenia — white tablecloths, spendy menu items, yet the overall experience is more Outback Steakhouse than fine dining. Our server was sincere and went out of his way to make our young child comfortable while we waited. And waited. For what I don’t know, as there was only one other table of people and we were eating at 6PM on a Tuesday night. Quality of the meal was decent, nothing to write home about and no interesting offerings. The place could be much better: it has an interior that isn’t being used properly and has a parking lot, which in Huntington should in and of itself make it a destination. But the parts don’t cohere and there are so many better options within walking distance that I don’t see how it can compete.

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Mac’s. We were a party of ten and started at the bar. The bartender was knowledgable and friendly, her wine descriptions were on the money and being happy hour, a great deal. Once seated, the wait staff was friendly and accomodating, one steak had to go back because it was overdone, no problem and a replacement was served in a timely manner. I had oysters, incredibly fresh, NY Strip, great quality piece of meat, with potato au gratin and spinach. All well prepared, seasoned well and complementing each other. An extra side of mushroom risotto was equally delicious. Finished with the crème brûlée and some Spanish brandy, excellent. A few reviews complain of prices, but I found them equivalent to any fine steakhouse. I’ll return next time I’m in that part of town.

We had dinner there tonight. Both the food and service were excellent. We ordered crab cakes, escargot, lobster quesadilla, and lobster bisque for appetizer. We got surf and turf, seafood pasta, and sautéed lobster and shrimp. Very delicious food.
