Humphrey’s

Ive been in Huntsville six years and have tried this place once each year. If you know you are going in to a trashy college dive then you will not be disappointed. I had to use the restroom when we got there and when I came out my girl said the waitress hadn’t come over. There was only three customers besides us. The moment I sat down out of no where some girl in a shirt way too tight poped up and never once looked at my girl not even when taking her order. Every time she came back she only acknowledged me. When the check came she place it on my side and I told her my girl was catching it, and the look on her face was gorgeous. I told her to not expect much after ignoring her the whole time. This is a place for guys who dont have a girl and want attention. Not my cup.

They had the best fried pickles… crunchy (without being too breaded) and not greasy. My husband loved the Greek platter and my daughter said her California panini was great. The prices are reasonable. The wait staff was crazy busy, but we weren’t left hanging.

Feta cheese dip is the best! I seriously consider driving from the south side of Houston to eat it on a regular basis. Get it with the pita! Reasonable prices. Everything I’ve tasted from Humps has been served fresh and delicious!

This place has great food and having a beer on the deck always feels great. The chicken tender basket is the best I ever had.

Went here and there were too many workers for as small an establishment. They didn’t care about what we had to say, which was a good thing about the establishment. All they care about is making money. We started a conversation and then were ignored. Otherwise, ot was a very small, quaint, and a nice non-​smoking bar.

Food wasn’t good. Ordered a margarita… I can’t believe there was any alcohol in it. It tasted like a sugary sweet and sour. When I told the waitress she said there isn’t anything she could do I would still have to pay for it and they wouldn’t remake it, the owner won’t let them. The most ridiculous policy I have ever heard of! Will never go back.

I recently moved to Huntsville and decided the try Humphreys as it is right next to where I live.
What’s to love: The ambiance is very nice there. You definitely will have fun if you are there with some friends. I ordered a lamb and chicken pita (The Gyro) which is one of their signature dishes. The lamb and chicken was a good combo and I would order it again. The onion rings looked like they were in fact made there and not just heated up from a bag. That being said they still weren’t the best in the world either. Everyone else seems to love them so maybe I just got the bottom of the batch or something. The patio area is awesome. «Sweet Caroline» by Neil Diamond came on and the establishment turned the song up. Everyone on the patio started singing along to the song. That’s something you won’t get at most places.
What’s not to love: The service looks like it is hit or miss. My waitress gave mediocre service. Some of the other waitresses looked like they were working a little bit harder for the tip than mine.
The pricing is decent and is what’s to be expected of one of the more popular places in town. When your restaurant is established to be one of the «places to go» in town you can get away with any prices you want really. This isn’t a place to get a dirt cheap meal for yourself but if you want to enjoy the company of your friends while getting a nice bite to eat this is the place.
I wish Unilocal allowed me to give a 3.75 star rating. I give it 4 stars because it’s a fun place to be but the service could be better.

First time eating here, but I will definitely be back when in Huntsville. The fries were home made and actually tasted good and had a good crunch without being greasy and the onion rings were even better. I ordered the swamp burger and it was delicious. I had a fried egg added to my burger which made it even better. The meat was quality and fresh tasting. The bun looked home made or at least more unique. Overall a good quality meal and the price is unbeatable for the amount of meat you get! Definitely worth a visit.

The food is great and the drinks are cheap, but the service is so awful it makes you not want to return. I have been several times and have had horrible service! There is only female waitresses so if I’m not with a group of guys then it make take 20 mins before someone acknowledges our group.
Once a friend and I went for dinner. It took 15 mins for drinks– which one was a bottles beer and another was a frozen drink they premake! After waiting 30 mins for an appetizer our waitress came to tell us she forgot to put our order in and asked if we still wanted it. I asked to speak to a manager but she said that he was too busy to talk to customers. We left and went to the next bar/​restaurant next door. I tried to leave a comment on Facebook to hope to get the managers attention so they could hopefully fix the problem. I went to look the next day and the comment has been removed!
This place is very unprofessional! I haven’t been back in over a year! They are always very disappointing.

Ok. I’m not into sports bars but this place is somewhere I would go again. The food was great. I got a personal pizza and my sister got a deli sandwich with onion rings. Both was very inexpensive with large portions. Loved this food and if your into watching the game the place has several tv’s. It’s loud in the bar but it is ok if you concentrate on eating. I recommend it for the great food and great service.

I almost feel bad for giving this review. This place has good drinks and great atmosphere. However, I’m not sure if it’s the fault of the wait staff or kitchen staff but my orders tend to end up wrong. I wouldn’t give such a bad review for a once or twice thing but the past 4 times I’ve ordered from here my food was prepared incorrectly (no chicken in my quesadilla, wrong sauce on wings twice, and completely forgetting onion rings and an appetizer). Usually I’d just ask for a correction, but the last time I finally asked to speak to a manager. My next meal will now be free, but unfortunately I don’t know if I want going back. When it’s done right their food is great, but more often then not something is wrong.

Drinks were inexpensive, our server was even keeled and attentive. Wings were large and cooked okay, the feta cheese dip and Greek salads were very good! We will go again if we find ourselves in Huntsville again for a Sam Houston State University event.

I suggested Humphrey’s for lunch today because I briefly read about Mediterranean food here on Unilocal.Upon walking in, my coworker and it immediately began to doubt the validity of these Unilocal reviews. Humphrey’s is quite simply a dimly lit, tiny bar. How could this place, which obviously specializes in providing Bud Lights to college students have Greek food?
I requested a menu from the bar and quickly spotted my much desired gyro pita. I scanned the rest of the menu and found several lunch items that I’d like to try at future visits– a variety of sub sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, pitas, paninis, salads, etc. Of the establishments near the university, Humphrey’s seems to have the largest variety. My friend ordered a roast beef sub with onion rings. I thoroughly enjoyed my pita with fries. The lamb gyro was certainly a good light and tasty choice for those trying to avoid burgers and baked potatoes for lunch! The fries were crispy and sprinkled with some dried chili peppers. My coworker could not stop raving about his hand-​battered onion rings.
Needless to say, I’m happy to discover a quick and great lunch place with seemingly healthy and delicious items.

If you like cheap drinks humps is the place to go. I found myself there alot over the last year with my class mates between breaks. The food is mediocre but edible (bit greasy) waiters can get a bit scattered when its busy. The music is usually pretty loud (when theirs live music and you sit in side it gets to be a little much you can’t focus on what your doing inside without hearing everything outside each time the door opens).
The bathroom is very small but most bars are. I love the new deck since this adds more seating. Overall a good college hangout.

I had heard good things about this place, but was pretty disappointed.
The burger I had was so greasy it ran down my arms as I ate it. Some people think that makes a burger. I don’t. While the taste was alright, I was pretty disgusted by the greasy feeling after a while.
Also, we arrived at 11:00 when they open (because that is when my companion’s lunch hour was) which was a mistake. The employees were just getting there when we pulled in the parking lot. They said they would be with us in a minute, but it took 15 minutes for them to take our order and another 20 to cook it, eating up almost the entire lunch hour.
Sorry, but if you say you are open, you should not just have the doors open, but also be ready to serve your customers. To me that is business 101.
I wouldn’t call the experience terrible, but they didn’t give me a reason to go back either. Yet another disappointing place in Huntsville.

Nothing and I mean nothing is mediocre at Humps. Everything on the menu rocks. Get your meal with a side Greek salad, they’re superb. Always order feta cheese dip (not charbroiled, regular) and get the pita bread… OMGGG SSOOO SO GOOD! Burgers are outstanding, wings are awesome, sandwiches are excellent. What can I say, everything is good! Bloody Marys are garlic-​y and amazing, and beer is always ice cold. I would not reccommend the margaritas. It gets pretty crowded so go early! Sit on the patio and enjoy the fine Huntsvegas view. I LOVE this place!!!
Oh yeah, watch the holes in the parking lot and don’t wait till the last minute to pee, there’s only one bathroom so you’ll have to wait!

I moved to Belton, Texas when I graduated from Huntsville High School in 2005. Hump’s is one place that I make a point to go every time I go home.
This place is definitely geared toward the college community on campus. It’s located just across the street from campus. The atmosphere can vary depending where you sit. If you stay indoors, things can become cramped, and fast. That all changes if you choose to sit outside on the party deck. The university just across the street offers a unique vista, and the traffic on Sam Houston avenue late at night is nothing if not tolerable.
A former classmate of mine that I graduated with from HHS performs with his band on the party deck on the weekends, so that is something I suggest you should see too.
The only negative I can thin to say about the place is that service can sometimes he on the slower side, buy this is mostly due to the large volume of customers usually being served.
Oh and be sure to order a «Loaded Land Shark». It’ll knock your socks off!

Great food, awesome drink specials, friendly staff and convenient location right by campus! Live music on Wednesday nights out on the patio! Happy hour Monday through Friday 3−7pm

Their pizzas are orgasmic. Why? Because I get to choose what goes on it! This is where I learned I loved a feta, black olives and red onion pizza. Yum!
Perfect setting for a college that’s for sure! Right across the street and quick. Good for that odd hour you have in your schedule! Outdoor seating, cheap beer (inlcuding Shiner of course!), and quick service.
I have some of the best memories here, the biggest being this was my goodbye to college. Finished my last final ever (perfect that it was art history!) and headed over here with the prof and my classmates. What a way to end it! I can’t wait to come back to Huntsville and see how things have changed, but I bet Humphrey’s is still the same! With the potholed parking lot and all!
