I loved abuelos! They have awesome Mexican food, and their prices are not that bad. You have to try their fajitas with the potatoes or Chilla rejón if you go. But I had a awful experience with my server last time I went(about 3 weeks ago). We went for a company lunch and the young lady was horribly rude. Even to the older sweet people in the group. I must say that it kinda ruined my experience here. I was a regular here and also at the one in Lubbock. I really enjoyed their food but I’m not gonna be treated awful just to eat here Another restaurant that is ruined for me by the customer service.

We went on a Thursday night to celebrate my BFF’s birthday. Thursday is also Prime Rib night that made the night more special. We had the most outstanding waiter I’ve ever had the luxury of being served by how’s name was Justin R. Justin was on top of everything, water, drinks, food you name it Justin had it covered. He was busy and he let us know he saw us and would be with us shortly. Drinks were slow, he let us know that he had put the order in and checked but that they should be to us momentarily. Chips were low, Justin had it covered. The food was very good. The Prime Rid medium rare just melted in your mouth. My friend ordered the filet and shrimp which he raved about. But the true star of the night was Justin. Face it we’ve all been out to restaurants with good food and drink but what make the dinning experience outstanding is the service and attention to detail. Justin has it covered and then some.

Cool atmosphere, no complaints about the food or service. A little pricey but the atmosphere makes it worth it. Super cool interior.

Hubby and were staying at the Holiday Inn across the street. We have been here several times during happy hour and sat at the bar top, We were greeted by the hostess each and every time with a pleasant Hello! Clean place and friendly staff! Happy hour drinks and food are wonderful. I like my wine and pleased with the happy hour wine price $ 3.50. Margaritas are a little pricey but good. The beef or chicken street tacos and the chicken quesadillas are wonderful. Not to mention the 3 different salsas and free chips. If you decide to sit at the bar top and are waited on by Heather, Eric or Cheryl, you will be in good hands. Kudos to them!

First time dining here and it was a great experience. The array of salsas that came out were a treat. We ordered the guacamole for appetizer and for entrees I ordered the huevos rancheros and my boyfriend ordered a chicken dish with zucchini. Everything came out fresh flavorful. A huge plus was our waiter, Mike. He was super friendly and attentive.

Excellent service!!! Busy Friday night and we were seated in less than two minutes. Our server Jay was the best server I have ever had. He is attentive, kind, fast and efficient. Food was excellent but the service made it even better. Ask to be seated in Jay’s section when you go — you won’t be disappointed.

The restaurant itself is really nice. Beautiful décor and real open. Now the food on the other hand was really salty and not very much flavor. The chips and salsa was better then the food. The customer service was great and the server made sure the drinks were always filled.

3 stars guys. And it would have been less if it wasn’t for the manager who made things right. Tonight was my birthday and my husband isn’t the romantic type but he really surprised me and took us or for dinner. So it was a bummer when the waitress didn’t get my drink order correct. When the meal came out before the appetizer. And then the filet mignon was absolutely tasteless. No flavor what so ever. Guys, for 20.00 that steak better have some seasoning. But the manager made it right and salvaged me emotionally. Big thanks to the manager. But we won’t be back. Next time I want a steak I’ll cook it myself. Update: Im increasing this to 4 stars. My husband and I took some clients there last week and this time the service was perfect and the food was perfect. I had the pork medallions and the tuna appetizer. This was a much better visit and probably just went there on an off night the first time. Brittany was our service. She was great

I eat here 2 times a week and know portions. Please do not act condescending and tell me a normal side of black beans can fit in a tiny tiny sauce to go styrofoam container. And while I am on a rant please replace that styro with compostable materials! Lately service with dine in has also been hit or miss. When my Daddy is done with eating he is ready to leave. Sometimes the waitress takes forever to bring the bill.

I’ve never been to one of these, but it was recommended for a recent special occasion. The interior was awesome — it looks like a villa and has a lot of beautiful and tasteful points of interest. Due to having a largish party(11), we called ahead, and were told that there is no reservations or even«heads up» for large parties — but come now and we would have no problem. We arrived, requested a table and waited. And waited… you get the idea. The front desk ladies were all quite rude. We asked several times about the table, and were told they were working on it. The restaurant was about 60% empty, with several empty tables clustered together which clearly would be sufficient for 11 people. After about 1 hour’s wait — with our kids in tears — we were seated. The waitress apologized and assured us that she knew what happened, and she will ensure we are well taken care of. Things were looking up. Unfortunately, due to a few missed drinks, some food arriving later then others, and all of it pretty slowly — the improvement was minimal. The food itself was all quite good. Towards the end of the meal, a manager came to address our group, apologized, and offered us free dessert. This was much appreciated by all, and did a lot to recover some lost stars. Overall, I believe they would be worth another cautious visit.

Great Tex Mex. the charro beans rock. Very good selection of hot sauces but be careful not to get full on chips and salsa because the portions are very generous. You’ll most likely be taking food home with you. There are 5 or 6 different types of enchiladas to choose from. The chicken tacos with sour cream sauce are my favorite. Their nachos are awesome. Order with extra jalepenos for a kick. The rest of the menu is extensive. Lots of choices. Margaritas are pretty good. They just moved locations to across the street about a year ago. It’s very spacious and upscale. They have a meeting room as well. Highly recommend.

Great Mexican Food! I consider Abuelo’s, a fine dining restaurant style of food. The restaurant is very large and decorated ornately with statues and fountains. It reminds me of Mexico City. They take reservations which is nice as I was there with a party of 20 people. They offer giant portions of food on large plates. I ordered enchiladas and loved that my dish was hot and the cheese was gooey and delicious. Several others ordered variations on enchiladas and the shrimp wrapped with bacon was popular at our table. Let’s talk Margarita’s. I have to say their frozen with salt is the BEST I have had in a long time and while I drank 2 small ones I was not buzzed. The service was excellent and we had a large party all with separate checks and our waiter did a wonderful job of taking care of us. Abuelos’s is a must try!

Abuelos has excellent food. We were visiting from out of town and looking for somewhere to have lunch. Nice atmosphere inside. Great food and excellent service! I would absolutely recommend Abuelos. Update: we ate here twice on our trip to Texas. That’s how good their food is. Updating to 5 stars.

Incredible meal and service. The dining room is huge. The salsa trio is fantastic. I couldn’t make up my mind so I had the sampler plate(for lunch and again at dinner.) I highly recommend this location!

Late dinner an hour before they closed and they still have the same service, all my food was hot and tasted great. I ordered a Tortilla soup, it was delicious. They have their own recipe, but it was very good. The Flan, the flan for dessert is an excellent choice, is always made from scratch. I will definitely come back!!!

Abuelo’s! Damn, this restaurant is huge. The ornately painted landscapes on the walls, giant white pillars, and huge oil paintings might be a bit cheesy, but I think they create a festive atmosphere which makes the entire outing more entertaining! I don’t think the food is fantastic, but I do think they make a really appealing plate — every dish has vibrant colors and the portions are NUTS. Soooo much food for an incredible price, especially since you could feed three people with one plate. There’s a small gluten sensitive menu with a couple options; some salads, a tamale dinner, shrimp fajitas, soft tacos… I went with the tamale dinner and chose refried beans and cilantro lime rice as my sides. The rice had great flavor, although the texture was a bit tough and chewy. The tamales were covered in a serious quantity of cheese! I love cheese but it was a bit much, even for me… I think the cheese was thicker than the actual tamale! I enjoyed the refried beans the most. They were distinctly peppery and I’m definitely a fan. Our waiter was extremely nice and didn’t rush us. The regular menu is HUGE, so you probs need a decent amount of time to decide what to order, especially if you’re new to the restaurant. I also like how you can pay for your meal with the little wireless card swipe-y thing sitting on the table. No having to wait for your check!

This review is specifically for the enchiladas de Cozumel. HAD to order them cause they looked fresh and delicious in the picture. Turns out in real life they’re drenched in cheese sauce. Overall taste is great but just way heavier than I was anticipating. Fair warning to those of you who are like me and are easily persuaded by food pics. Also, overall environment of the place is pretty great. Huge paintings on the wall and feels very open.

My wife and I loved Abuelo’s. If you’re in the mood for«authentic» Mexican then this place isn’t for you. Yes, they have the usual Tex-Mex fare, but there are many dishes I didn’t expect, like the Sautéed Chicken Zucchini. Creamed spinach and fancy mashed potatoes for sides? Yes please! The fact that they had some non-typical stuff along with the run-of-the-mill food is what made it such a nice change. The ambiance is also pretty nice; it’s more upscale than your mom and pop places(nothing against those — many times they have great food). The service we experienced was really good too. The prices are pretty reasonable too. The menu selection is huge as you can see when you go on their website. I tried four of their enchiladas with various sauces and enjoyed them all. My least favorite was the avocado enchilada. It would have benefited from being a guacamole enchilada; the plain avocado was kind bland. Speaking of enchiladas: They have hundreds of combinations you can choose from, which is really cool. You can pick from 7 different kinds of fillings and a bunch of different sauces. Did I mention the baked creamed spinach side? That stuff is da bomb. Sure — they have rice and beans for sides, but why not try something new? My wife had the aforementioned Sautéed Chicken Zucchini: Lightly sautéed premium chicken breast with sliced zucchini, roasted red peppers and corn in a delightfully spicy cream sauce. It was really good. Their menu selection is really broad and I look forward to trying a bunch of different ones. I’m giving it five stars for the novel menu and good service.

I love Abuelo’s. There I said it. I really do. The food is fantastic. I’ve never left here feeling anything less than completely satisfied and stuffed to the gills. When I say«stuffed to the gills» really I mean it. I always get the turkey platter-o-food. I think they call it the Grande. When I say turkey platter I’m not stretching the truth. There is a taco, a tamale, 3 enchiladas, a chili renio, potatoes, and beans all on a turkey platter sized plate. I’m ashamed to admit that I polish most of it off. :\ The service is normally very good and the new place is quite nice. Stop in and see if you can eat it all.

Stopped in for a late lunch on Sunday. We also dined at the new location which is right behind the old location that was on the access road to the Airport Freeway. The new location is beautiful and much larger than the old one. Our server told us that parking was so limited that they had to move. The décor at the new location is absolutely stunning. Since it was the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday, we were seated right away. We were greeted with a hot basket of thin crispy tortilla chips and Abuelo’s 3 signature sauces. I love playing«mixologist» with the sauces, it’s a lot of fun. My wife ordered the lunch fajitas and I ordered a cheese chili rellano and a green chili pork enchilada. We also ordered bean and cheese nachos to munch on before hand. YUM, they were some of the best nachos we’ve had in a long time. The guacamole served with the nachos was outstanding, creamy and seasoned just like we like it. Happy tummies! After finishing our nachos, our entrees were delivered to our table piping hot and I mean piping hot. We were warned not to touch our plates. Both of our entrees were delicious and prepared perfectly. I loved my green chili pork enchilada, it was seasoned perfectly. The Mexican styled mashed potatoes are now one of my favorites at Abuelo’s. They do an outstanding job with them. My wife and I had a very relaxing long late lunch. Our server took excellent care of us the whole time without hovering or bugging us.
