THISPLACEISCLOSED only tried this place once on a hot day, meh, it’s ice cream, with various toppings, nothing special.

You can’t go wrong with ice cream with me. With this place though, there’s nothing special. They’re kind of like a balboa bar, if you know what that is. But if you need an ice cream fix, and fast(if there’s no line), and like the limited toppings they have(i got«everything») then have at it. It was good.

I really like how you can customized the ice cream bar to suit your cravings. They dip a Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream Bar into either milk or dark chocolate and roll on whatever toppings you like. I got my bar dipped into dark chocolate and«everything» on one side which is all of their toppings combined and peanuts on the other. I thought it was good and not too sweet since the peanuts helped out with that. You can actually get different toppings on all 5 sides of the bar if you want. People have commented on how you can get a better deal at Costco but keep in mind the only topping they have are almonds. If you’re someone who’s allergic or don’t like almonds, then BoardWalk Ice Cream Co. is the way to go since they have a variety of toppings to choose from. :)

$ 3.75 for an ice cream bar is kinda steep. True that they put all the toppings you want, but it’s not worth feeling grossly sugared out at the end. The ice cream is from another vendor so they don’t make it there… and it’s a bit on the quick-to-melt side.

This place is a total breath of fresh air when compared to the bland normalcy of other ice cream bar locations which shall remain unnamed. The first time I went in was right after they opened up and the owner was working the counter. He couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. After chatting for a while I ordered one with caramel, milk chocolate, butterfinger bits, and heath bar. The guy told me that that was his favorite combo and I’m still not sure if he was telling the truth or just saying to be agreeable but I will say it was one of the best frozen treats I’ve had in quite a while. Definate repeat customer, only problem is I’m too stubborn to ever change my order.

Ugh, sugar overload, and not in a good way. We came here because we had the 2 for $ 2 coupon that others have mentioned. I had caramel glaze, milk chocolate, Oreos on one side of the bar and M&Ms on the other. It was good for a few bites, but after that it was way too sweet. My ice cream also melted really fast and half of the chocolate fell off, even though it was night and not hot outside when we went. However, I really wouldn’t have been able to finish that much candy anyway. My husband had just chocolate and Reese’s Pieces on his bar, and he didn’t finish it either. I’m sure this place is great for kids, but apparently we’re too old to eat that much sugar anymore. Also, there were no napkins, or at least we weren’t given any napkins and didn’t see any in the store. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for this – it would not be worth $ 3.75 per bar.

Yummy! They had a booth at the OC Flyer’s game last night, and we were pleasantly surprised it was only $ 3! They have chocolate and caramel and other toppings you can choose from. Great treat, great price… can’t go wrong with that!

We were at the Yard House finishing up happy hour when my friend decided that ice cream sounded really good. I suggested BoardWalk Ice Cream because it was an intriguing idea. You get to choose your type of chocolate from milk or dark and then you get to choose what toppings you want the chocolate-covered ice cream covered in. It’s not rocket science, but it makes for good eats. We chose to share a milk chocolate dipped vanilla bar with the everything sprinkles. It’s like a drumstick on steroids! It was definitely a treat at $ 3.75. I hope they have more flavors like chocolate or strawberry ice cream bars or even dipping into white chocolate. I’d be there. How great does that sound?

This place is pretty good, it’s just a bit too expensive for what it is. I would say it would be well worth $ 1.50 maybe even $ 2. But for $ 3 – 4 I would be thinking I’m buying this at a theme park or football game. As many have mention I got the $ 1 coupon to try out the place and that Costco has similar bars for cheaper, not quite the same, and of course you don’t get as much choices of toppings, nor do you have them made in front of you so it is kind of hard to compare the too, but generally Costco does have more bang for the buck. They use a softer ice cream so it’s easier for you to eat(quicker), which they dip into a chocolate shell(either milk or dark) and then push into a vat of about 9 different toppings, the ones I can remember are nuts, coconut, m&ms, oreos, waffle cone, and cookie. I had a oreo, cone and peanut one with dipped milk chocolate. It was pretty good, a bit messy, a little small. I probably would not go back to get another unless it again was for $ 2 or less. The service was pretty good, there were three(probably hs) girls working, two were more upbeat, and all were hustling. Looks like the place did pretty well business wise. It sounds like you can get it for cheaper if you have a movie stub or if you mention you live in the irvine apartments.($ 3)

Costco bars are so much better than this place. Only came here because of a coupon that got us a bar for $ 1 each. I can’t imagine anyone paying $ 3.75 for one though. Just go to costco, better ice cream, chocolate, and cheaper! The ice cream wasn’t fully cold. My bar fell off the stick. Yeah you get a few other choices for toppings but not many of them stick on like the pictures they advertise. Did I mention costco yet? Their ice cream bar is about 2x larger than these too.

There was a deal perk for this place. Since I’ve always wanted to try it, I decided to buy the perk since it was an unbelievable $ 2 for 2 bars. That’s just $ 1 each! I’m glad it wasn’t more than that. The concept is quite nice. But too bad execution is not as great as the concept. I opted for dark chocolate and nuts. Hubby got milk chocolate with nuts and MMs. The vanilla ice cream bar wasn’t frozen enough. Too soft. There wasn’t enough chocolate. The chocolate hardened too fast so the toppings didn’t stick. Costco is much better. They have a smoother, better, frozened ice cream bar, offer almonds rather than peanuts, quality is better, and have a cheaper regular price. Is Costco becoming the standard for America’s favorite junk foods? What is this world coming to?

I love the Boardwalk Bar company. Every time i go to the spectrum, I have to stop by this little ice cream shop in the food court. I happened to stumble in because me and my girlfriend were exploring the food court for something sweet and I found it(the ice cream, not her haha) First of all, they dip your bar in this chocolate shell stuff – it turns into solid chocolate – white, dark, and milk – after a little while. Then they roll the bar in all kinds of toppings, from M&Ms to oreos! For around 3 dollars, its a great spot to pick up something cheap and sweet :)

It’s good and all, but… I can get the same thing, but bigger, from Costco. It’s just as good, and costs over $ 2 less there. If there’s something I’m missing, please enlighten me. But the hefty price tag for something I can get for less than half the price scares me away.

Please consider hiring BoardWalk Ice Cream Co. for any event you might have! I’ve seen them cater our apt complex events a few times now and have always enjoyed it. The ice cream is delish and there are so many toppings to choose from. Note: discounted ice cream bars for any resident of The Irvine Company apt complexes(only $ 3!)

Yum! Nice to have an alternative to the normal ice cream or yogurt shop. For those like me who love dark choc, choc candy & nuts this for is you. He offers a choice of up to 4 dips per bar. I had the all topping mix and nuts. All toppings include Oreo, coconut, Heath, Butterfinger, peanut, M&M, almonds, and other stuff. Love the sweet & silky with a good crunch.

We were at the Spectrum and someone came up and gave us a coupon for an ice cream place which hasn’t been opened too long. We thought oh well, since we’re waiting for the movie to start, let’s go check it out. So the concept is an ice cream bar — vanilla to be exact — and you choose the toppings that go on it. First of all you can choose what your ice cream bar is dipped into — we chose dark chocolate — and then you can have stuff like oreos, peanuts, sprinkles, M&Ms, Butterfinger etc pressed onto the layer of slightly moist dip before it hardens. The ice cream itself is $ 3.75 and you can have as many toppings as you like! Toppings are free. The young man didn’t even want to share his ice cream bar, but I made him. It was seriously quite good! I would definitely come back again! I like how you can customize your own ice cream bar. Now, if they would make an ice cream bar with an alternate flavor(i.e chocolate or strawberry) that would be awesome!

Since my original review has fallen off for some reason, I am going to make some small addition. You can read my original review on my profile page. The only additional thing I can say is that the owner is extremely friendly and this is his first attempt to bring his business to California. Since I always root for the small business man, I can wish him nothing about the best!

Simple albeit interesting concept. But I guess that’s how pinkberry started too. Originally Pinkberry only had two flavors, green tea and original, and just toppings. But yeah, Boardwalk Ice Cream has an interesting thing here that I’m suprised no one has thought of before. So the entire process here is dipping a vanilla bar into either milk chocolate or dark chocolate, and then ‘dipping’ or covering that in a variety of toppings(heath bar, m and m’s, oreos, cookies, sprinkles, etc). Generally, two is the max though. So the simple part is only having vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate, but the interesting part is the old school concept of toppings and ice cream bars. Almost like what you’d do at home. Definite nostalgia there. So yeah, overall, I definitely enjoyed my treat, the ice cream and chocolate covering was smooth and delicious, and my toppings of cookies and m and m’s added a nice crunch. I had it for a lunchtime dessert, and for around $ 4, Boardwalk Ice Cream proved to be a nice pick me up for the afternoon.

I met Boardwalk at the Seth Godin event last week. I must say that the bars were very delicious, especially when dipped in oreo + heath bars. They were giving them out, so I got to eat it for FREE! Well worth it for free. I would definitely also pay $ 3 to get another one with the movie stub. It’s a new and fun way of eating ice cream and I would definitely go again.
