The pizza and wings are really good. The customer service was really good and their wing sauce was better than most.

Not NY Pizza by any means. Average and expensive. It’s very process food, I would avoid it going forward. Also when you call for pick up they sure take their time

The pizza was really good. Not«real New York» but definitely the best I’ve had on the west coast. The sauce is good and the prices are OK for this area(although if I was back in Maine, my eyes would have popped out after seeing the price). The delivery guy was a great guy and the food got here fast and hot

4 stars feels fair to me! I’ve eaten Johnny’s a few times now and it’s always been decent. Better than any franchise but not the absolute best. I still think it’s good though and not too soggy like other pizzas I have had. Plus they charge $ 3.50 for a slice which seems high but it’s literally like 3 slices is worth! So I’m a happy camper, I will definitely be back.

It was ok. Wish it was thinner. 1 slice is huge an it will fill you up. But for me the oregano kills it. Not a fan of oregano. Also wished the sauce was lighter. Dont think id be coming here again.

I love their Johnny’s famous salad… And their pizza is the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life one time I order the salad and I’m allergic to cheese and they brought me by accident a salad with cheese on top of it and they came back to my place give me a large salad with no cheese with no questions asked they are honestly my favorite pizza place in the world… Everybody that works there is the best and I can’t send off positive things about everybody there

Johnny’s Real New York Pizza puts together a decent but forgettable NYC style pie. With so few real options in pizza on the west coast it is rare I even bother and although Johnny’s pizza does offer a great sauce, the pie as a whole is just another to add to the A-Okay pile. I ordered the Cheese«The Best in the City» pizza that is dubbed a New York Classic that comes in at a Manhattan style price of $ 17.95 for a 16 inch pie. They also offer by the slice at $ 3.50 and have locations in Newport Bluffs, CdM and Irvine. The cheese was melted perfectly and the cheese to sauce ratio was right on the money. Speaking of the sauce — it was wonderful. Notes of basil and garlic shoot out between the rich and acidic tomato flavor. The problem is the delivery mechanism — that is — the crust. It is far too pillowy and doughy, offering a gummy chew most noticed in the crust. I prefer a crispy, almost cracker like crust and this pizza just did not make the grade in that area. Is this better than the big box pizza franchises? Oh hell yes, no question about it. Is it on par with Lombardi’s in Little Italy in New York. Oh hell no, no question about it. If it is nearby and I am in the mood for a few slices and a beer, I may make another stop.

I try and get a slice from this place once a week. The lunch special with a drink or with a salad is perfect. The price per slice or whole pie is reasonable. Staff ***** Five Stars Taste ***** Five Stars Price ***** Five Stars Cleanliness ***** Five Stars Atmosphere ***** Five Stars Delivery time ***** Five Stars

I like it when you can order pizza by the slice. Now, $ 3.50 a slice seems on the very high side, but the slices are extremely large so you basically get a slice and a half for your dinero. I had a slice of Andolini which anywhere else would probably be called a meat lover’s(salami, meatball and sausage). It was thing crust(like«real» NY pizza) and tasty. It wasn’t terrific but it hit the spot. I don’t get the hate on this place but I’ve only been once. It was clean when I came and the unisex potty in the back was also clean(bonus points for that). I would return for a slice.

Dunno what other peoples’ beef is with this location. My boyfriend and I come here a lot for our pizza fix, especially since they’re conveniently close by. Their pizza is exactly what I love, which is a crunchy crust(but not to the point it’s burnt or breaks your teeth off — comfortably crunchy!) and the rest of the pizza is delicious with soft sauce/cheese/toppings(as another reviewer put it — it’s a nice contrast!) Definitely a far cry from floppy and dripping with grease or fat with bread with some other pizza joints. Staff has also always been super friendly. Granted, I often grab my pizza to-go, but I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone there. The staff seems young, but they don’t look like they hate where they work, or dread dealing with customers. The atmosphere has always felt friendly to me. :) My only qualm with Johnny’s is having no bacon and pineapple toppings! Johnny, I need my sweet/salty flavor pizza fix!

Dear John: Your pizza joint in Irvine is a huge disappointment and a far cry from what you used to be like when you had just a couple locations. «Real New York Pizza?» No, just«Real Pizza Fail.» Checklist of things that make your Irvine location not worth visiting again: 1) Burnt, cracker thin pizza re-heated. Relatively small slice. 2) No salt shakers– yes, no salt available unless specially requested and then served in a Smart N Final mini cup. Real enticing. 3) Mexican Ranchero music blaring from the back of store. 4) Young counter clerk with over-inflated self-opinion of self, poor attitude to customers. 5) Hip hop music selected over loudspeakers during lunch time? Hardly the right music to encourage an enjoyable dining experience. 6) Inmates running the asylum in general. Owner must not care to have the place run properly. 7) Overall– an experience that must have been state of the art 20 years ago. Dear John– you are done for now. I think you’ve lost it and need to retire– fast! There are many other higher quality, well run, better pizza restaurants that could tear it up in your location. Just think of all the golfing you could do if you closed this place…

So for 10 bucks I got 2 slices of cheese and a drink. No combos to speak of which would be ok if the pizza was good. I got some reheated pizza at 8pm that tastes likes it’s been sitting on a rack since opening at 11am. The pizza was disgusting and I had two bites before throwing away. The only thing New York about this place is the price and employees lack of caring. I can go to a dozen other new york places and get a two good slices and a salad for the same price. Step up your game or the high rent you are paying will catch up to you and a for lease sign will be hung in the window. It pains me to write this review because I wanted it to be good.

Was in the area looking for pizza and stumbled across this cute joint! The ambiance is great, love the decorations and furniture. The staff was friendly when we entered and helpful in telling us about the menu. You can walk right up and order slices which is exactly what we did since we weren’t looking for full meals. I’m happy to report that it’s pretty close to a real ny pizza. Thin sliced, lots of cheese and actual sliced sausage! Worth a try to those looking for ny style pizza!

If you’re looking for gigantic slices of floppy, greasy, stretchy-cheese, thin crust pizza, this isn’t it. Yes, it’s true that the crust has a bit of a crunch. It does crack at the top when you fold it. But guess what, contrasting textures is a good thing. And I’ve never been disappointed in the quality of the ingredients — including the slightly-zesty tomato sauce and the meatballs on the Andolini. If you’ve been to NYC, you know this isn’t New York pizza. This pizza is the pizza you’d make if you took a NY-style pizza to California and tried to improve it. And you know what, I kind of like Johnny’s version better. Except for the coal oven pizza at Lombardi’s or Patsy’s — almost nothing can beat that. In the end, it’s a vast improvement over Red Brick, and is my go-to pizza joint in the area.

There are times when you want fast, cheap pizza made in assembly-line fashion that you can track the progress of on an app on your phone and then there are times when you want fast, AMAZING pizza and THAT is when you want JOHNNY’S. Nice guys behind the counter. Good food. Great outdoor seating. I’m so glad they moved into my neighborhood. Now I don’t have to wait for work to order. Best garlic knots outside of my kitchen! I have all of my co-workers hooked. And that fresh marinara is killer. I could drink it!

I love New York style pizza so needless to say I was very excited to see the«coming soon» sign. Last Sunday we decided to go try this place out since we rotate through most restaurants in that plaza. It was around 6 pm and not very crowded. We ordered a large one but ½and ½. The pizza tasted very bland even though there were plenty of toppings. The thin crust pizza wasn’t very crisp on the bottom either so it was a bit soggy. This place is not very big but there were about 6 – 7 ppl behind the counter. The boys behind the cash registers were probably still college students, they stood behind the counter chit chatting about their weekend loud enough that we heard all the details. A little unprofessional in my opinion. Since they haven’t been opened very long I might give them another try in a couple of months but not any time soon.

Good NY style pizza here at Johnny’s. The best slice is the Andolini(sausage) so be sure to order that. In terms of the size of the slice, I feel they are 50% to 75% larger slices as compared to NY Upper Crust on Alton and Jeffery. So this is why the per slice costs more than other pizza joints. The slices are HUGE here. I really don’t like the seating arrangement and layout since there is tons of wasted space so that’s something they can improve upon. And it doesn’t help that they leave the doors open most of the time so it gets chilly there at dinner time. Anyone who has written they wish Red Brick Pizza was back instead is someone who definitely has a bad palate and not a real foodie. Ignore those people…

The Pizza tasted great. The development and setting of the restaurant was great as well. It gave me me a grand New York City feeling. A big plus about the pizza place was that it had a variety of beers to pick from. From beers on tap to craft bottled beers, I can definitely see this as a «spot» to hang out at. The slices were gargantum, the dough seemed of high quality, and there was not too much grease coming off of the pizza. Will definitely dine at this location over the traditional Pizza Hut/Dominos/Papa Johns. UNTILTHEN! ^-^

Just have to note that there was a mixup on the way something was charged on my order and when I asked about it, they were super awesome about it and even when I said it was fine, insisted on refunding the difference. Super nice guys! FYI Unilocalers, the Francese with sauce is a cheese pizza with tomatoes, garlic, and basil, but is $ 4 cheaper than if you order a cheese pizza with tomatoes, garlic, and basil! Just in case that’s your thing. And it should be. Because best pizza ever.

Not that great… not that bad. This pizza joint is just average tasting. NY upper cust pizza is better imo and less expensive. Over here its $ 4 a slice. Toppings are used generously and the thin crust is crunchy like real nyc pizza. Their Peace Tea iced teas are $ 3.75 so watch out because I just got jacked. This place is definitely an improvement over the last pizza joint that used to be here but just as overpriced for what you get.
