Great hole-in-the-wall poke bowl joint, now called Wow Bento. Discovered this place via word-of-mouth. Look for the giant SUSHI banner on the street. Very small café, only one table inside and one on the patio. It wasn’t crowded when I went, but I think it might be because not everyone knows about it yet. The owner is very friendly, he mentioned they opened only 2 weeks ago(or maybe changed ownership), and that he wanted to focus solely on making great poke bowls. My friends & I sat on the patio and he’d frequently pop his head out of the shop to check on us and see if we were doing OK. Ordering is similar in concept to Chipotle or Pieology. You get to design your own poke bowl: choice of white/brown rice, a variety of toppings, fish, veggies, and sauces. In addition to poke bowls, you can also make poke nachos, poke burritos, and poke salads. The bowls are of satisfying portions, and the prices are also decent($ 8 – 9) for what you’d find in the area. Will definitely be coming back here more often, great place to visit for lunch during the week!

Wish more people would come here because the owners are so nice and the food is good! It’s never busy, so it’s easy to get a quick lunch here if you are craving sushi. It’s nothing fancy but always satisfying so I give them 4 stars! Try it if you are in the area. Tiny place, more grab and go, so don’t come with a group.

So this restaurant has put me on a rollercoaster of experiences. This restaurant is located in the irvine business center and it just so happens to be a few steps away from my work. The first time I went in there, it is this small little place that has a few tables and a nice little guy name peter. Long review so hopefully it’s helpful and interesting. The menus varies from sushi, rice bowls, noodles and even sandwiches like tuna and meatball subs. I ended up choosing the spicy teriyaki bowl. The taste was great! He was nice and made sure I had enough rice anything else I needed. Because experience was so good I made it my regular place to go if I didn’t pack a lunch. Now the negative. I have gone there for the past 3weeks probably eating there at least 1 – 2 times a week. But something happened this week! No idea what is happening but the man seems less service oriented. No big deal! We all have our bad days! I ordered my spicy chicken and I was on my way ready to enjoy my yumminess from this little hidden gem. I bite into it and the food is bland and tasted odd. I went back to ask if this was a mistake because it wasn’t spicy at all. The taste was very off but he told me it was the right thing I ordered. So I didn’t pry and just what should I expect? The man is microwaving reheated chicken and cooking from a hot plate so I can’t expect five star meals so I finished it but this time I was very disappointed. A couple days later I got it again hoping that it was some fluke but never the less the taste was the same and I asked Peter again and he told it was exactly the same. I have known my taste buds for quite some time now and normally we’re on the same team. So I know that this was messed up! I finished again and the next day, what do you know? My taste buds were in cahoots with my bowels and told me to evacuate everything that resembled teriyaki out of me. I have literally been sitting on the toilet all day. Normally I’m a pretty forgiven guy but when you turn my day into a journey of adventures to the porcelain kingdom that’s strike 1−2−3. I guess I’ll have to find another place for my yum yums.

Get the tuna sandwich, it’s pretty good! Quick, tasty, affordable food served in an unimpressive little storefront.

Good place to go for sushi. The place is small so you most likely be taking your food to go. Maybe they have enough seats to hold 5 people. Beside from small building their sushi is amazing. Got bunch of their sushi rolls and burrito sushi(not sure exactly what it was called) WOW. Amazing.

Good place to go for lunch. Clean and Friendly service and relatively fast. I had the Chicken Teriyaki Crunch Roll combo with drink. The chicken teriyaki was on the bland side and the rice a little bit dry but the crunch roll was good. I also had the sashimi plate 10pc. The fish is fresh although the ginger slices tasted a little stale. The owner is also a pretty good trumpet player. He played Amazing grace and troops come marching in. Strange lunch experience but in a good way.

Great price for a good meal. I had the spicy chicken teriyaki bowl which was good but I wish was a bit more spicy. Owner was very friendly and even gave my group free honeydew.

This place seems to be under new ownership, we all got fliers on our cars so we checked it out. Everyone here loves this place. They are super friendly, the food is reasonable and healthy, and we can walk to it. Check it out if you’re here in this part of irvine stuck among a bunch of fast food restaurants. It’s a great alternative.

I Finally had the sushi… I really had to fight the temptation of ordering my usual Oh my sandwich though. Sushi is good! Good size fish to rice ratio and the fish is really fresh and served at the right temperature. I think the owner may now have a helper so service is a little faster and he has new combos and new hours!

Came back here for lunch today and ordered a chicken salad sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised! The bread was very soft and fresh. The chicken salad is just the way I like it, easy on the mayo! Doesn’t beat the chicken salad sandwich from NYC Café but definitely good! My brother got the 4 piece sushi combo with California roll and he said it was delicious! He isn’t a big fan of California rolls in general but said that these were great! The owner said that a new menu was coming in a few weeks so I’m eager to see what it will look like. I’ll be back before then. I really want to try the spicy tuna and Philadelphia roll.

A true hidden gem. Great breakfast and lunch for a reasonable price. I haven’t had anything on the menu that I didn’t like. And the sushi is superb! They updated their selection and I’m actually quite pleased. I’d recommend checking this place out especially since they have such friendly service. And if you have time, enjoy your food on the patio(in the sun)!

This place is tiny and has just one employee. Slow service. I came because Anyi’s place came up on a Unilocal search for salad. Anyi’s is long gone. This place is not really a salad place, but sushi/sandwich place. Oh! My Meal’s house salad is nothing to shout about, just romaine lettuce and tomatoes and half a boiled egg.($ 3.50) I didn’t specify the dressing so he put the Oriental Honey Sesame dressing which is good. The house salad doesn’t look a thing like the brochure photo which has avocado, and red things that look like beets on it. I had a bowl of the soup of the day, and it was chicken noodle… tastes like Campbell’s right out of the can.($ 2.75). I had a bowl of edamame, and it was okay, slightly microwaved, which dries them out a bit.($ 1.99) No fountain drinks here, you buy the bottled drinks in the refrigerator.($ 1.50). Just like Anyi’s there is just one patio table outside, with four plastic chairs and an umbrella. However, this place says it serves all kinds of sandwiches, and Japanese food. Teriyaki bowls, sushi rolls, raw fish. I hope he has someone other than himself. He looks like a sushi chef. I can imagine how slow it be if you asked for a California roll, a bagel sandwich, hot dog, mini pizza, etc. He’d be running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. LOL Oh by the way, my lunch added up to $ 10.50. Not cheap.
