I think, they don’t deserve any star… It was my one of the worst experience in Dallas. Bad food, bad service… they really don’t know the real flavor of pav Bhaji and Misal pav. this was my 1st and last visit. Very much disappointed…

This place is good depending on what you order. We liked most of what we ordered and we ate a lot! The star of the night was the«chole puri”-perfect level of spice and just so darn good. The pav bhaji was very average as was the sandwich. The pani puri was good but very spicy. The onion chili dosa was the least popular one at our table. They really could stand to make the place a tad cleaner and nicer on the eye. They really neglect that portion of it and the whole experience would have been nicer if they did spruce up a little bit. Probably take out if I am ever back in the area again.

Food is decent, but I will never step into this place when it is crowded. I went with family from out of town and the service was terrible! They need to learn how to make food quickly and serve patiently. They did the opposite when I went there. They took their sweet time to make food and literally threw food at us.

This is a nice fast food place with variety of options to eat. We have tried couple of food items out there but my favorite is Vada pav. Other items like pani poori. Chat, chole Bhatture and pav bhaji are also good. Out of all that we had I didn’t like dosa and tea much else everything was good.

This is not a 5 star restaurant, but definitely delicious comfort food! Everything is served on styrofoam plates with plastic forks and cups. The serving portions were large and the prices were very cheap. It’s a great lunch spot! Service is very quick! My friend and I ordered dosa and samosas. They were so yummy and filling! I also tried pani puri for the first time. I had never tried this before so I have nothing to compare it too, but I really enjoyed it! My only suggestion would be for the restaurant to have some pictures of some of the menu items for some of us who are not as familiar with Indian food(like you see at Chinese restaurants).

Good and a hygienic place for some spicy Indian chat. The ambience is really good and signifies both Bollywood and Mumbai(Bombay). Good service and good place for all Indian style chats.

I recently went in here as I had heard amazing things about this restaurant. Specially from friends who are from other cities and have visited Dallas. Hence I tried in a few items right away to check how this one fares in my book. Verdict — total failure Items ordered and their reviews Vada Pav — Okay to good(only reason why I have given 2 stars above) The Vada was okay but not great as compared to the Indian standards. Considering a world far away from India this was good and I would say I can go back for this but would rethink too. Misal Pav — Bad. Misal Pav is one of the fav dishes in Maharashtra along with the Vada Pav and hence I ordered these 2 to base my reviews. I was highly disappointed by the Misal Pav that was served. The original Misal Pav should have the misal which is primarily«mothbeans» based. There is a trend of using«dried white peas» near the coastal areas of Maharashtra but it still has to have«mothbeans». This misal served lacked any mothbeans. It was overcooked with normal spices instead of the misal spices I felt. Another things is the«farsan ; was not used, instead only«gathiya» were served on the side. The regular Misal always has the farsan and freshly chopped onions mixed rather than served on the side(which I guess is understandable since people might not want it mixed) But if you are potraying it as misal, it should be mixed. Egg Kheema — Was Okay. Too much spice killed the taste of the egg in there. Less salt which can be ignored. Masala Soda — Too much of Jaljeera and Chaat powder in there. I would not recommend unless you are a fan of Jaljeera. The name«Bombay Chowpatty» is like total opposite to what the food is. Chowpatty comes from«Giragaon Chowpatty» in Mumbai/Bombay which is a beach and has amazing street food stalls with some mouth watering foods. I would say the food doesn’t do any justice to the name. I would try this again sometime for other foods and see if they are anywhere near to good. Ambiance wise it is okay. Not much seating but will do for probably around 20 odd people.

Paper plates, plastic forks, plastic cups, black square tables, open kitchen with hundreds of boiling pots, families and kids, and love are what you’ll find here. We stopped by on a Saturday night, and whoa, the place was almost full with at least 30 more ppl piling in the door. With such low prices($ 5 veggie sandwiches, $ 3 soup, $ 4 dessert) I can see why — one could feed a family of 5 for under $ 40(no easy feat, especially when dining in). My son opted for the Foolada(rose scented ice cream), and I for the Veggie Samosas(2 per order) and Ice Gola(shaved ice) with mango and pineapple. Dessert choices were based on the pics(thanks Unilocalers!). Believe me when I tell you our food was good and was delivered to our table(although a carryout order) with a smile! Next time we’ll try more items. I look forward to it.

This is the worst chat house. Here is my reason: 1) price is as per dinner menu 2) the guys there has no idea what they are doing Every time i do togo they will miss some or other thing in the chat. The chat taste like shit… No really i mean it. Khasta kachori is hard like rock. And who put yogurt in ragda. After a while the ragda taste yuk. I give them enough chance. This shit I s not gonna work. Will never go back.

The menu needs a lot of work. There is no description and is not American friendly. I couldn’t make out what their menu is saying and the terrible hand writing, come on!!! I went with samosa chaat, vegetable Frankie, and a falooda. That falooda was the worse one ever. They didn’t put any effort in it just like their menu. The only good thing was the Frankie. I didn’t know that samosa chaat was a samosa deconstructed in soup form. It was spicy but I didn’t like it. The Frankie was like a burrito and delicious! But I could have eaten two orders of those. What I don’t like is service. As usual, Asian establishments are not known for good service but make them feel welcome. The lady took my orders made me feel like I was a bother. The dude who called my orders, didn’t put it on a tray. I literally had to walk back and fourth three different times to get all my food. Give me effort people!!!

We decided to try this place after our long flight from Europe. Of course, having gotten only pasta on a sad AA flight, we were craving some good food. This place claims to have authentic Mumbai style chaat, but leaves much to be desired. We tried the pav bhaji, frankie, bhel puri and grill sandwich. We found the pav bhaji to be quite hot, which is not how it’s made on Mumbai streets, it’s more buttery and tangy. The Frankie was quite opposite to what you get in Mumbai, this was more of a potato roll inside a tortilla. Mumbai street Frankie is a stretchy, flaky refined flour roti with a potato filling, signature tangy orange spice and a sharp vinegar tang. The bhel was also too hot; people tend to assume that Indian food is hot, it’s not supposed to be — spicy does not mean hot. The grill sandwich had way too much cheese. Also, the styrofoam utensils and self service was not impressive. They tried to spruce up the ambiance with some nice Mumbai photos which was good and it was fun to see the open cooking stations.

I visited this place almost in the first 3 days it opened. It has come up a long way since the initial hiccups. The layout is still the same with open kitchen in center but the wall décor has improved a lot. Food choices have expanded. They now accept credit cards. We came in a light Sunday after noon and the place was lightly packed. We were hungry like hogs and ordered following things: Khasta Kachori(without ragda), chole poori, vada pav, sabudana khichadi and coffee. 1. Khasta Kachori(no ragda): One of the best kachoris you can have in the town. The mix of all chaat masala and sweet curd makes it a relishing delight. I personally dont like ragda since it overpowers any filling it. 2. Chole poori: Chole was little oily but it had good flavor. Definitely worth a try. 3. Vada pav: Almost the authentic Bombay smell you get when you take a bite and see the inside of the vada. Kudos to the chef. 4. Sabudana khichadi: A surprisingly mild entry to all the spicy gala we were having. It was little dry but the sweet curd was awesome. 5. Coffee: Great Indian style coffee. (pics uploaded) They have new items such as barf gola and others but didnt have room to try more. Will surely come back to check it. Recommended if you had been here before and had not so favorable experience. This place is surely fighting back. Love to have this at a very convenient location.

Food was pretty good and reasonably priced as well. The theme for this restaurant is street food of Mumbai. You have to order the items upfront and pay at the cashier. When the food is ready, they will call your number. They have plenty of menu items with options for everyone. The restaurant does not serve meat(fish and chicken included), though they do have some items made of eggs. The chole puri and pani puri were very good and highly recommended. The aloo paratha was excellent, but the egg paratha was not all that great. Food comes out piping hot and is very good value. We will be back.

Bombay Chowpatty is an unassuming Indian Café tucked in a strip mall, but it has some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Wow, this place is great! We were in Dallas for a convention, and we took a break to get something to eat. Our group settled on Indian, so we popped open the Unilocal app to see what was around. Bombay Chowpatty sounded interesting and was nearby, so we hopped in the car and headed out. Before going here, I had eaten Indian at a handful of places and I thought I had an o.k. grasp on what I could expect with Indian food — a few basic words for spinach, cauliflower, and okra, and experiences with saucy dishes to be put over rice. When I walked into Bombay Chowpatty, I could decipher the letters that made up the words on the menu board, but I recognized nearly none of the words. I only recognized paneer and samosa, and those were only on a very few items. Apparently, I am only somewhat familiar with Northern Indian, and Southern Indian is completely different. The friends I was with were a little more worldly than me and suggested a couple of dishes based on what they knew, but we were still a little in the dark. Still, we ordered a whole list of things and tested our luck. A couple of big pluses — when we pulled up, nearly every person eating in the restaurant was Indian. It’s a bit of a cliché that you can expect good and authentic ethnic cuisine at a place where you see people of that ethnicity eating, but I still took it as a good sign. Second, the décor is awesome — the walls are covered with full-scale graphics of scenery and Indian movie posters. Visually it’s quite busy, but it also says to me that these aren’t folks who hare half-assing around Indian, but rather they are good casual Indian and are reminding a lot of folks of the places where they are from. Third, the kitchen is completely open — the whole of the restaurant is a big rectangle in a strip-mall space, and the food prep and cooking area is an island directly in the center. And, when it comes to the food prep folks and the cooks, they work fast and they work hard. I swear the whole time we were the there the cooking area was awash in a flurry of activity, from chopping to mixing to griddling. Fourth, despite the extensive menu, everything is vegetarian, and you would not miss the absence of meat from all the variety and flavor that you can get. Our food came out, and and we ordered several dosa, which are like a giant crepes that have been filled with various savories. They were incredible, though they’re comically large when you start, hanging over each side of the 10″ tray by at least another 4″ per side. Also, since I recognized«samosa» on the menu, I ordered one. It was somewhat similar to the stuffed fried dumpling I have had before, but it was also in a bowl with a hearty lentil soup over it. All in all, I very much enjoyed my experience, and I’ve made Bombay Chowpatty a definite stop for the convention this year.

Bombay Chowpatty is a restaurant in Irving that specializes in authentic Indian cuisine from the Bombay region. You’ll find«street food», fresh baked breads, fresh juices, and some of most authentic(for me) Indian food out there. My Overall Rating — 4 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Bombay Chowpatty is located in a busy shopping strip. It’s towards the back and can be tough to spot if you were looking for a building off the street. Inside you’ll find an open kitchen in the middle, several casual tables and chairs, Indian music, and some incredible Indian spices and aroma that fill the air. The owner said he was going for a street atmosphere concept — not sure what he meant and it certainly didn’t have that vibe, but it was open and clean/sparse. ½ Star. Service — Upon telling the staff it was our first time, their eyes lit up and they were very excited to explain the concept and menu. They were very helpful in recommending how we should order, and they also allowed us to taste test some of the food items. You place your order at the counter, get a number, find a seat and wait for your food. They were super friendly and as each item started coming out, asking what we thought the food and really wanting to know opinions. 1 Star. Food — Let me start off by saying that I am not Indian, nor am I an expert in Indian cuisine. I do, however, love food and love to try new things. So I am writing this review from the perspective of somebody who enjoys trying new foods but is by no means an expert on the region’s cuisine region. We ended up ordering a number of items which I will detail below: Pani Puri — This dish consisted of a «shell» that we filled with chickpeas and two types of sauces. They were both sweet and it was fun to get a nice bite. This was good. Pav Bhaji — This dish reminded me of a bean dip. It was served with some warm, slightly toasted Indian bread. It had Indian cheese sprinkled on top and was served with freshly cut red onion and tomato. I took the bread and dipped it into the dip to eat it. It was pretty amazing — one of my favorites. Dosa — This was a long crêpe-like sandwich that we cut up into strips and get into the spicy Indian dips. I enjoyed this but wasn’t sure I ate it right. Omelet Sandwich — This was simply an egg sandwich. But it was a fried egg mixed with spices and onions, and honestly it reminded me of a dish that my mom used to make when I was little. In fact, I liked it so much that I didn’t even get a chance to take a photo. This was my second favorite dish. Triple Sandwich — A triple layer Indian sandwich filled with cheese, spices, & sauce. It was really a beautiful sandwich, but the stories here again is the bread. I can’t say how much I enjoyed the bread here. It was that good. I am sure I am missing some details and I probably did not even describe some of the dishes correctly. The bottom line, however, is that this was an amazing adventure in tasting some of Bombay’s region of cuisine. It is definitely authentic. 1 ½ Star. Will I Return? — Yes. Even the fruit juices were great. Again, I am by no means an expert on this type of cuisine, but I know what I like when I eat it, and I enjoyed everything that I ate at Bombay Chowpatty. In fact, I could see myself coming back just for the pineapple juice. 1 Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.
