Wingate By Wyndham

I was stranded in Dallas after all of the flights at DFW were grounded due to tornadoes. I ended up at the Wingate in Las Colinas (though the address is Irving, so don’t let that confuse you). The staff was so incredibly kind and generous to myself and fellow passengers who were stuck. They gave us tons of toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. The breakfast the next morning was AWESOME! I expected fruit and oatmeal, but it was a full hot breakfast, which was so nice after having to shell out money for a cab to the hotel and then the room itself. (Obviously unexpected since I planned to be in another city by then.) The room was very clean and really nicely laid out. I had tons of space and thought the shower-​only bathroom was really modern. I can’t say enough how great the staff was. I wish I had written their names down so they could get kuddos, but things were a little chaotic that night. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to others and would love to stay there again in the future.

So far so good. Was greeted by friendly staff, and check in went smoothly. The no-​swipe keys are a plus, especially when your hand are full. Room was clean and spacious. Plenty of outlets for charging devices. Linens looked clean and bed was comfortable. TV was HD and probably a 47″. My room on the first floor had mini-​fridge, microwave oven, and coffee maker. One thing missing was that there was no hair dryer in the bathroom anywhere. The bathroom otherwise was great, including large, soft towels. Also a great shower and showerhead — something often lacking in 2– and 3-​star hotels. Often showerheads are cheap and junky but these were a cut above. Wifi was great while it worked, but within a couple of hours it becomes useless.
So overall a good experience. Minus a star for the lack of a hair dryer and the bad wifi.

It’s an okay hotel, no complaints. The front desk clerk was a little overwhelmed and left the area for a few minutes while customers piled behind me. Not the friendliest clerk. Hotel has an average modern décor. Clean, cozy, comfy room.

Overall ok experience, although I wished would have known that the hotel was undergoing room renovations before booking online. The room itself was just average, but had all the expected amenities and was clean. Breakfast was the best part of the stay, as there are many hot and cold items to choose from. The staff was very friendly and took care of all of my needs. For the price point, this is an average deal in this area.

The staff here is incredibly rude. I’ve never been treated so badly except at a HoJo we once inadviseably stayed at. They wouldn’t give me as much change as I requested for the laundry because «we try to spread it around.» huh? Washer is old and crappy. Finally got my clothes washed and the coin slot is jammed in the dryer. Call down and their response amounts to «nothing we can do, wet clothes are your problem.» Refuse to call in maintenance and don’t even put a sign up.
They don’t have toilet paper holders or towel racks in the bathroom. No tub either.
The mini fridge is old and dirty looking.
Beds are hard and uncomfortable with cheap mattresses.
Hotel is so heavily perfumed all over I have a headache and it makes you wonder what foul smell they are trying to cover up.
Basically? Don’t stay here. It’s crappy, they’re rude, spend your money elsewhere.

If I could give a half star, I would. They are renovating so hopefully when they complete the rooms it will be a different experience. The lobby is nice but that’s about as far as it goes. They state they are completely smoke free and even state on the key card I was given that I was free to smell the clean air. The second I walked into my room it stunk of stale cigarettes. I’m traveling for work and now all of my clothes smell like smoke. I was put on the second floor and had someone above me who walked all night in their room and I heard every foot step. I also heard everything that happened in the adjoining rooms (nothing bad!), and the hallway. The walls and ceilings were paper thin.
I will never stay at this location again and would not recommend anyone stay there.

Because I booked this hotel months before our stay, I didn’t find out that it was undergoing construction until I double-​checked
for something and saw lots of complaints about it. The bottom floor was really unsuitable for guests; there was not a great attempt made to minimize the impact on guests. Crowded tables in the lobby, breakfast in a tiny carpeted area, large staples on the floor, sawdust covering all of the fitness center equipment, exposed fiberglass, and falling off plastic taped on the walls with painter’s tape.
After my workout with broken, dirty equipment listening to the construction workers through the hole in the wall, the front desk staff got me a room ready for early check-​in and were very friendly and accommodating throughout. The room was clean, but also needed repair. Patches of paint in a very different shade were in random spots on the wall, and the bathtub caulking was starting to mold.
The breakfast was standard for these days, hot continental. Rooms are equipped with fridges and microwaves, and large TVs. The WiFi is suuuper slow though, and made working really difficult. The rooms are spacious with a sitting area that will accommodate a pack and play or cot, both of which they have available.
The hotel shuttle runs every 30m-​1hr and is a Prius, so while it will take you to DFW for free, be prepared that there’s not a lot of space for luggage. It also won’t take you to Love Field.
There are several hotels in the area within a dollar or two a night of this one… if I had to do it again, I’d choose one of those. Not terrible, but meh. Maybe after construction it will be better.

The staff is incredibly friendly and the room was surprisingly larger, cleaner, and stylish than the exterior appearance of the hotel suggests. I have 4 stars instead of 5 only because their airport shuttle bus doesn’t run after 10 pm. This forced me to pay $ 30 for a cab. :(other than that, I have no complaints!

Got this deal using the app Hotel Tonight. Great choice for an even greater price! First room, according was on the fritz. Second room was just as fresh and comforting… with a working a.c. would definitely stay here again.

I wanted to update my review, and have changed the rating to 3 stars. You can see my original review below regarding the fire alarms. The hotel did eventually get the alarm fixed. They also credited me a night of my weeklong stay for the inconvienience. I think that is good business.
Also — in my angry review I didn’t state the good stuff. There is a happy hour in the lobby each afternoon with FREE beer, wine, and appetizers. Pretty cool! There is also FREE breakfast in the morning which wasn’t amazing by any means, but was decent for a quick bite on the go. The rooms were pretty nice, big flat screen TV with cable, comfortable beds, and ok bathroom. I appreciate the hotel doing their best to make right with the alarm system after the fact as well. I’ll probably give Wingate another shot.

Staying here this week for business. There has been an ongoing issue with the fire alarm. It keeps false alarming. This happened last night, this morning around 7am, tonight at 10pm, again at about 11:15, and is happening yet again at almost midnight. The only thing that I need out of the hotel is a place to sleep, which due to the continual false fire alarms blaring has been a failure. I will be avoiding this chain in the future. I’ve never had a hotel fire alarm go off falsely during my stay and the fact that it has happened 5 time over the last 24 hours is absolutely unacceptable. I have knowledge of fire systems and am fully aware you can put the system on «silent» which is legal if they put an employee on «fire watch» to ensure the safety of guests. Why they have chosen not to do this I cannot understand. Why they cannot get an alarm company out on an emergency basis within 24 hours I also cannot understand.

Oh Wingate… I wanted to love you. I really did.
Your huge room with your free wifi, fridge, microwave and your excellent location — I just knew I was going to be hooked by your charms as I have been so many times before. The friendly staff made it so tempting.
I’m sorry to say I was disappointed. It’s not me – it’s you.
I can forgive the lumpy bed. I can forgive the breakfast plates that were so flimsy they couldn’t hold the danish I put on them. I can even forgive the tiny bathroom where the door barely cleared hitting the toilet.
But I can’t forgive the weird light switch situation where two switches control the front door light and the outlets by the desk. I couldn’t charge anything unless I left the light on.
I can’t forgive the fact that your housekeeping staff didn’t clean my room, even after I asked the front desk specifically to have it cleaned.
But I really can’t forgive the shower experience. I’ve never taken a cold shower before today. The hot water lasted for about two minutes and went cold. Not lukewarm, but cold enough to make me shake.
Here’s hoping you can get it together…

I never even made it to the room, because the employees were so rude… They tried to give three grown men a king size bed to share with no roll out beds available, and I saw the front desk lady give another guest 4 towels to use as blankets, another lady practically crying because they couldn’t accommodate a simple request for a fridge for a diabetic person. This all happened as soon as I walked in and walked out within 10 minutes, because the front desk clerk pretty much told me I was out of luck. They were well overbooked without the capacity or concern to try to accommodate their clientele’s needs. I will warn any weary travelers before you try to book at this hotel.

Pretty nice hotel, but there is no pool or hot tub.
The drapes in my room were pretty heavily soiled at the top, like from a leaky roof, but the roof looked fine, so I guess they fixed the roof and didn’t clean the drapes. It was pretty noticeable.
It took me a while to find the ice machine because I had to go to another floor and there was no signage. Also, the guest book didn’t indicate when the breakfast opened and closed, so I was surprised when I went down around 9:30 and everything was cleaned up and being rolled away. I had to quickly pick off the cart as the employee kindly waited for me. My fault for not calling the front desk, but I would have thought they’d be open until 10, or at least post the hours in the guest book.
Just a few little things, but it’s a fine place to lay your head.

Don’t stay at this hotel! Our company just booked rooms here last week and the rooms were PAID in advance. Well the fine people at Wingate decided to charge the rooms again, sometimes double, to the employees’s credit cards they put on file for incidentals. Some were charged over $ 1,200. The manager, Mark, doesn’t seem to think this is a big deal and has quite possibly the worst attitude when you ask when the money will be refunded. Some have even gotten overdraft charges Mark refuses to say the words, «we will pay for it» or refund the money for the room, offer a voucher or even apologize for the error despite the fact that people now have to go several days without any money in their accounts. Do NOT ever do business here.

Nice hotel,
Currently in the middle of my 6 night stay. Flew in from Detroit for business. «Pretty» is the magic word here. What I mean is, everything is «pretty» good.
Hospitality — pretty good
breakfast — pretty good
cleanliness — pretty good
beds– VERY good
amenities — pretty good
location — pretty good, close to just about anything you need. A million restaurants etc.
It’s not a super fancy place, but neither is the price.
I really liked the TV, which came in handy as I was by myself and needed a nice room to work an relax after my work day.
so far so «pretty» good.

So my boyfriend was visiting me and while the hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly, I still give this hotel 4 stars. I will say that it is worth staying in and that everything in the room was phenomenal. However, the night before I was supposed to check out, our room keys just randomly stopped working. I had two, one for me and one for my boufriend, but neither of them worked. Another thing, it’s extremely easy to break into the rooms considering we broke in numerous times due to our keys not working. However, we were much too busy to have time to talk to the staff about it (which I’m sure they would have helped us in any way they could) but I found that kind of odd how it just stopped working. But it was a good stay!

Did I stay in the same Wingate by Wyndham as the other Unilocalers? Maybe if I got a suite instead of a regular room my stay would’ve been better. Sadly, I have to stay here whenever I travel to my company’s Irving office location since this is their «preferred hotel». The photo that is posted of their room is not very accurate– the room isn’t that well lit or new looking. It was clean, and decent to stay in, but not the most comfortable. For one thing, there was no hot water in the morning for showers! The water was barely lukewarm, so you had to literally take a cold shower. The bathroom could use an upgrade, since all the grout was brown. Also, the breakfast selection is minimal and sad (I think 3 cereal choices, some yogurt and fruit), and maybe a couple other items. The lobby looks nice, and they do have a gym here although I didn’t check it out. There is also an Avis onsite if you need a rental car.
If I had a choice I would not stay here again, but it’s do-​able to stay here if it’s only for a few nights. At least there was plenty of parking while I was there.

Stayed here a week. This was the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s not overly expensive but it’s still costly. But you get your money’s worth. awesome staff & It has a gym! My suite had a couch, free Internet; I got about 6mb download speed hardwired. Plenty of space and a seriously nice HD flat screen tv with HD channels and some movie channels like HBO. The complementary breakfast was amazing and just what I needed. Buffet style bacon sausage waffles biscuits & gravy. Oatmeal/​Cereal. And assorted fruit and juice. also you can rent an SS Camaro to cruise around town in. And you cant hear house keeping vacuuming or cleaning. (slept like a baby) Added bonus there are Benihanas and FM smokehouse (the perfect place to take a hot date late.) within walking distance. I shall return to this hotel

This hotel is in a good location. It’s very close to the highway and has several places to eat within walking distance. The lobby is very large and always kept clean. There is a small patio outside to lounge on as well. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. The gym has fairly new equipment. There’s also a free shuttle service. It’s great for out of town guests who want a centrally located hotel.
