Pines & Palms Resort

I could not tell you if it’s a nice place to stay or not but I can tell you the two ladies in the main office were very helpful in trying to help us find a place to stay. My wife and I had made reservation to stay at another nearby resort but for some reason, even with a confirmation number of the booking, we were unable to get a room. (Don’t use Trivago! They suck!) But anyway, they were so helpful in trying to find us a room on a very busy Saturday evening. They had even picked and cut up a mango from their tree out behind the main office and shared it with us. And who knows maybe if we ever come back we’ll try to stay here. It does look relaxing

My family stayed here during our wedding week and absolutely loved it. My mom seriously wouldn’t stop raving about it. It’s a cottage feel but the places all have charm and are well maintained. 2−4−1 drinks by the pool for happy hour were amazing.
The resort was great for our family even with young kids because of the shallow water beach and pool area. They have ice for sale at the office which is nice for keeping the brews cold. My mom was obsessed with the flowers that they grew on site.
The staff was very friendly and brought us things like an iron and ironing board. Super friendly people in a very laid back atmosphere. My family claims they are coming back soon. We can’t wait!

Really enjoyed this place from the moment we drove onto the property. We did think we were getting a ocean view room and did but was more of a peekaboo view over the carport. Room was very clean, sixties feel Paper thin walls however, so must be careful on what you say. Beautiful romantic and peaceful atmosphere. They have a place to buy great coffee, muffins and breakfast about 200 yards away. Also, they have a wine and beer bar around the pool Wished we had more than one day. Could have easily spent a week here, riding bikes, snorkeling or kayaking. should request a cottage near the water. Rooms above the carport ok but looks like better rooms in cottages near waterfront. Great customer service from check-​in to check-​out.

We really enjoyed our week at Pines and Palms. It is very quiet and relaxing. The grounds are well maintained and the cottages are cute and clean. It’s right on the ocean and so nice to just sit and chill. My husband enjoyed meeting people at the outdoor bar. If you are looking for an old fashioned type of resort, this is the place for you!

If you’re looking for place with that real Florida Keys feel, this it. We stayed in one of the ocean view beach cottages Thursday and Friday. Very cute, and everything you need is there. Full kitchen, separate living and dining area, private patio with a BBQ grill, bikes. Pool is heated and there is a pool bar. Everyone that works there is friendly and accommodating. I can’t believe it took me this long to find this hidden gem. We’ll be back

We just stayed there for 2 nights. Cottages where wonderful clean and cozy. View was spectacular. Will definitely be back.

When we pulled up to the front office our friends were staying down the road and they wanted to greet us because we have not seen them in a year. Immediately the front desk tells us «no day guests allowed»…I mean, come on, you’re in the hospitality business! This was an older lady, however, the young lady at the front desk was nice.
We got room 22 (right on the road) and it was okay. However, there was these tiny little fleas or something crawling all over the bathroom and kitchen. The room was sub-​par…
The pool was just meh and pretty small. The bar had beer and you can only order margarita’s and other frozen drinks. I don’t think they are allowed to serve other stronger liquor.
The positive was this place is nice and quiet. You can get a small grill and there was a full kitchen (not stocked) with plates, utensils and a few pots. When I pulled out 2 of the pots it was full of grease and not washed at all.
Beware: they give you 2 towels and will charge $ 30.00 if you lose them. They will also charge you $ 30.00 per key lost.
Over all I will not stay here again. Do I recommend this place? I think it’s one of those places you have to try for yourself. You may get a good room and you may have a better initial experience. To each is own…

Stayed here three nights, I would highly recommend it. Parking is a bit tricky, but the grounds are beautiful, great pool, lots of chairs, and a bar next to the pool with drink specials! The condos are nice and somewhat updated, perfect for what it is.

Adorable little resort with a super «Keysey» feel throughout. We rented a two bedroom cottage #14 and it was super cute.
The Only two Downsides were the loudness of the window AC units and the pool area was rather cold and uninviting…
I’d say the resort is kid friendly but the pool is so small if you have kids you can’t let them play and splash around because you feel bad for other guests… I wish places like this would have two pools one for kids and one for without.

Went here for a week on my honeymoon. The room was so spectacular. Everyone waves and is friendly when u arrive. They have a bar by the pool and have great happy hour deals. You are right on the Atlantic Ocean. The maids do a very thorough cleaning of your room every day. You can sit out on atlantic and sunbathe. The pool is heated so in February when we went is was pleasant to get into. There is a café in walking distance called the midway café. Best café and best service ever. The owner will greet u and serve you like you are an old friend:).
Islamadora is a small quaint town but it’s right in the middle of the keys. We drove to key west twice and had our fixed the shops and people. But at the pines and palms, it’s so quiet and relaxing. It’s not at all like key west lodging.
P. s. I know it’s shocking when you start to drive to key west as florida drivers are absolutely nuts. No blinker, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. They also follow like only 5 inches from your car. Once you get to the keys it’s much better

Great location for a couples weekend getaway. Nice quiet property with beautiful water views and great restaurants nearby. The rooms are not fancy but everything was super clean, including the rooms and common areas. We would definitely stay here again.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay. Had a work group of 11 people stay here for a week. The staff was super friendly. Cottages very comfortable and beds cozy and tons of pillows ;) anna the manage was great to work with and made sure we had what we needed. Amazing grounds and lovely sunsets and sunrises. Good for all types of group trips or couples getaways.

I got my room off
for $ 125 I believe. As soon as I got there it was somewhat underbooked and I got a free upgrade to one of the seaside rooms (#2) and once I walked to my room I was extremely suprised. This place is a gem, its quiet, and kinda rustic… but its clean, its well maintained, the bar is great, the staff is superb similar to that of a more expensive hotel chain. My room which I thought would be old and moldy for the price was brand new and freshly renovated. Its a 2 minute drive from some great restaurants, the pool and dock are amazing, I loved everything about it… except one thing — The sheets are a bit rough, which I didnt notice until I got a sunburn and tried to sleep in them. Beyond that this place is great especially when you take into consideration the price! I will definitely be coming here again especially for a quiet get away from Miami for the weekend.

Very nice updated room (#1), right by the pool and ocean. There isn’t really a beach, which was a little disappointing as well as figuring out that we could only sorta see the ocean from our room, no full view as I had asked for. There are sand, chairs, and water, though! The kitchenette is just fine, and we had everything we needed. The room was huge, like an efficiency apartment.
It is close to some amazing restaurants… Bitton Bistro, Chef Michael’s, and Kaiyo. We also enjoyed the Dolphin Research Center so much (in Marathon).

Worth a stay, but I think if you want to walk to restaurants and other places look to stay at The Islander or something near that. Everything was just too far to walk and having to drive everywhere was kind of annoying.
The hotel itself is very cute. The staff is awesome and the place is quiet, unless you get a room in the raised/​stilted section. We were right on top of our neighbors and the walkway was so narrow we actually had to scoot around them as they sat outside to get sun. The room was a good size with a full kitchen, but we had an ant problem which meant throwing away some breakfast foods we got. And there didn’t seem to be the things you’d need to cook in the full kitchen. Also the A/​C unit was in the bedroom and was so loud it woke me up throughout the night, but I suppose that’s better than no air at all. The pool and bar were great especially since Islamorada isn’t a typical beach island, with easy to access water to take a dip in. Overall we enjoyed our stay, none of the issues took away from the beautiful experience!

I can’t say enough how awesome this place is. The grounds are AMAZING. Sand is raked everyday, orchids everywhere, beautifully landscaped! The room we had was the smallest cabin (duplex) and was perfect for our needs. Well stocked kitchen and clean appliances. The staff is amazing and always glad to help.
For the money this place is a hidden gem if you are looking for laid back island ambiance. Two docks with double Adirondack chairs, a beautiful porch with glasstop tables, the lounge chairs are amazingly comfortable. The pool is small, yes, but perfect for our needs. Swam (or floated) every night with the coconut palms singing in the breeze.
Nice kayaks and bikes (though we brought our own).
The rooms have clearly been updated and are well appointed.
The Turtle restaurant was closed for the week much to our disappointment but we had 2 great meals at Lorelei’s.

Pines & Palms was an excellent place to stay while on my vacation in the Florida Keys. It easily deserves 5-​star rating –It was relaxing and peaceful, and had everything I needed.
You can walk out to the dock and sit down on a bench at night or on a hammock and look up at the stars. If you catch a fish at their dock, there’s a board and hose for you to prepare your fish.
I stayed in one of their villas, which had an ocean view and seating at the front. Inside was a kitchen stocked with plates, mugs, utensils, toaster, and a drip-​coffee machine (coffee included) that I used every day. Housekeeping even cleaned my dishes every day as well. Water pressure was excellent and consistent.
I would easily stay again at Pines & Palms if I were to revisit The Keys. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. They even printed a 2 page document with recommendations on where to get the best local food, and they were right each time. Sure, there was no complimentary breakfast, but do yourself a favor and head on over to The Hungry Tarpon. Your welcome in advance.
I was able to get a good night’s rest at this place, which is important to maintain your energy level for your other activities. If you need total silence to sleep at night, I would recommend ear plugs for the air conditioner that might kick in during the middle of the night.
If you want a romantic, peaceful, enjoyable stay then this is the place for you.

I am rating this less only because our first room was not good. They have been updating the place and apparently have not gotten around to all of them. (see my note below).
Otherwise, the property deserves a 4 – 4.5
Cute pool and beach (but not a swimming beach like most of the Keys.) The little bungalows facing the ocean are what you want. Not a resort, this is a quieter place to just hang.
Pool has a bar with happy hour 4 – 6. Staff is great.
Beware! DO NOT reserve Room 14– the two bedroom cottage. It has a terrible mold smell and needs serious renovation. Plus, the bathroom is tiny– like only suitable for little people tiny. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. Management knows about the problem but rents the room anyway. Otherwise, this place is great.
I will definitely go back, but will not stay in an old room.

Top notch as far as mid-​range resorts go. This place was everything we wanted in a relaxed easy going vacation. I originally found it using trip advisor reviews and was not disappointed. We went in the middle of march after opting not to spend the week in Key West with the Spring Breakers. Instead, we ended up in Islamorada and used the Pines and Palms as home base. The hotel was very close several marinas, good restaurants, and not to bad of a drive from Miami International Airport (less than 2hrs). Most of all, we really enjoyed the quiet laid back setting which included a great pool, a sweet hammock, lots of lounge chairs on a little beach, and perhaps our favorite were the Adirondack chairs at the end of the dock. They also had a great little pool side bar where you could get smoothies, daiquiris, wine or beer. Our room was very nice (and clean) and included a comfortable bed, small sitting area and small kitchen. Really, this place was pretty sweet, and I definitely would go there again. Given the suite style lodging, there were quite a few families, but not really a lot of little kids.

As an update, I would still say that the cleaning staff need a meeting.
We stayed here seven days and never got a refill on soap. Sometimes the bathroom was cleaned, sometimes not. Sometimes the carpets were vacuumed or swept, sometimes not. It’s all just a bit touch and go on cleanliness. However, the front desk staff are alert and ready to solve any problem. Although the general noise problem cannot be dealt with because the walls are just too thin, there are options to stay in single family cottages instead of in a row of neighboring apartments.
I would not stay in the raised row of 6 apartments again. It needs retro-​fitting desperately. You can feel and hear every single bump and step — like an earthquake all day long.
All this said, this is affordable, the view is spectacular, the pool is nice and heated. They keep the grounds well.
Just splurge and stay in one of the cottages. You’ll thank me.
