Gimme! Coffee

Fantastic espresso! Service can be a bit slow, but cozy, friendly environment.

My favorite coffee shop in Ithaca. Cold brew is a go to in the summer, and their Americanos are my staple otherwise.

I had been recommended to go to a Gimme! Coffee in Ithaca, and I finally made it. The line for coffee is to the left of the café and ends by a window of glistening pastries.
I ordered a dirty chai latte, my usual-​only with a twist! The barista created a beautiful swirl in my cup. It looked and tasted perfect. Not too watery or milky. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and pleasant, although I think you might have to go early to get a seat amongst all the busy people on their laptops.

GREAT coffee, charming coffee thermos available for purchase, delish baked goods. Worth the wait and would TOTALLY go back again.

Freshly roasted beans (a diversity of origins + some intriguing sounding blends). La Marzocco espresso machine. Perfectly pulled shot and latte art. Compostable wares. A coffee lover’s paradise– too bad I am only dropping my son off at college or I would become a regular.

We got a vanilla cappuccino and it was incredibly disappointing. the barista was friendly but the entire coffee shop was filled with summer students or professors doing work. they had a sign advertising a special drink, only to find out they weren’t making it that day.

A legitimately excellent coffee shop. Reminds me a lot of Vivace in Seattle (for flavor, not style/​concept). Service was great: friendly and unpretentious. No doubt that I will be back.

Pretty high quality but very overpriced. You can get the same quality in Starbucks for lower prices. The ambiance is that good either. There is no place to sit most of the time. Would not recommend it for regular visit, maybe once in a while.

Horrible ! Came here for a quick hot coco for my son. Once paying on a screen, a big pop up comes out asking how much you want to tip. I didn’t really like that. Things are over priced. $ 3.00 for a little cup of crap. Starbucks makes better everything and I’m not even a big fan of them. all the lady did was mix some crap together and there was our hot coco…
Wouldn’t recommend, unless you want to waste money.

Good coffee, kinda expensive but I guess it all is. Lots of outlets for working in the shop but probably not the most comfortable coffee shop to chill and do work for an extended period of time.

Consistent good coffee every time I visit. Very warm and cozy and a nice place to chat with friends or read a book. Had to wait a minute for a table but it’s a small place. I wish Gimme coffee would come to Rochester!

Delicious coffee, efficient service, and nice baristas. But there’s almost never a place to sit– the tables are permanently occupied by busy, hip looking people and I wouldn’t be surprised if the laptops on every table are locally grown.

There’s a reason why Gimme is consistently voted one of the best coffee places in New York state; they have a wonderful, rotating variety of blends and take their flavors very seriously. Their cool, modernist interiors are a refreshing departure from the 90s feel of other local coffee spots (ahem, Collegetown Bagels). There’s a reason they’ve become popular not just in and around Ithaca, but in NYC as well.
Did I mention the employees are always friendly and there’s a really interesting (if somewhat overpriced) selection of baked goods on offer as well? The only downsides: as much as I think the walk to this location from downtown Ithaca is worth it (I like the feel more than The Shop, even though the latter also brews Gimme) it’s surprising they don’t represent with a flagship branch in the center of town, especially since when I do get to Gimme, its limited seating is always packed (there’s more at the West End location, but, sadly, it’s even further from me). The wifi is also a bit weird: there’s a free option, but you have to keep renewing your registration, and it cuts you off after a certain amount of time. I guess it frees seats, at least.

If you don’t know the difference between a coffee shop and a library, this is the place for you.

I REALLY REALLY appreciate a good coffee place, especially when its local. Great cappuccino to go, all seats were full though so I couldn’t have stayed if I wanted to. Artsy flair… Loved it!

Have you hand-​knit your cowl or ski cap? Do you pay an ivy league university $ 60k/​yr. and still have the scratch to hand over $ 3.00 a cup?
Are you encumbered with no fewer than 4 Apple products at all times?
Does your dog understand 2 or 3 more languages than your toddler?
Is your bike composed of the parts of other people’s old bikes?
If you answer, «Yes», to any of these, like I assuredly have, you’ll love it here as much as I do.

Me: Gimme! Coffee (in a hungover state)
Friend: Ok. I’ll give you your coffee.
Starbucks, watch out! Gimme! Coffee is so much better. I asked for a small drip coffee but it was too small ie. not enough to cure my hangover. So I went with the medium instead. It was about $ 2, which is cheaper than Starbucks, but way tastier.
This place has bathrooms, a good selection of tea (my friend had the Gunpowder Green tea), and lots of organic treats.
I wish Gimme! Coffee would come to NYC…

Good coffee but waaaaay overpriced, especially for Ithaca. People-​watching from the bench outside was great, though. You see some local characters and it warms your heart.
