BCYF Curtis Hall Community Center

Great place! I participate in the Masters Swim program (Mon, Wed @7 PM) and it’s a great way to work out with a fun group of people. So affordable compared to the other masters program in the area. $ 20/​month for masters swim, plus $ 30 a year for general membership. Totally worth it!

This review is just about the pool — which is the only part of the community center I’ve used thus far. There just hasn’t been a review of the Curtis Hall Community Center in quite a while, and I thought it would be helpful to update.
I’m training for a triathlon and needed an affordable place to swim 1 – 2 times a week. I I’ve gone swimming here a couple of times and I’m very happy with the swimming facilities. The locker room is. a locker room. It seems well maintained and clean, which is all I can really ask for. The showers do turn off approximately every 30 seconds or so, but it’s not a huge problem. The pool is 25 yards, and there are three lanes. I’ve only been in the early morning, but the most people I’ve seen at the pool at one time is 9 (3 per lane) and that worked out just fine.
The gentleman who works at the front desk in the morning is friendly, and very helpful. He allowed me to try out the pool a couple of times before joining, which was really nice. The cost to join is $ 30 a year and there is a $ 2 per use cost for the pool. However, you can buy a card that gives you 7 uses for $ 10 — well worth it if you ask me. I have no problem paying to help to support a community center.
I will take a look at the rest of the facility one day when I’m not in a rush to get to work.

Curtis Hall is great! The pool is a fantastic resource, as is the gym, the track, the computer center, the classes and the basketball league for kids. The renovations make it even better. The staff are great too, especially the lifeguards.
AND they have a great camp for kids that is affordable.

Had my daughter take swimming lessons there. It was cheap and the staff were nice.

How much will your friends drool when you say you’re going to the poool for a swiiiim when it’s 90 degrees out?
A lot.
Little do they know that you are indoors in a three-​lane pool that’s open for laps early in the morning or late at night and you have to keep pushing a button to keep the shower going in the locker room.
Curtis, what brings you up to four stars, however, is your friendly staff and your unbelievable cheapness. There’s no other way I could belong to a pool. Thanks!

I started working out here just after they renovated the fitness center, and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the equipment was. I’ve just recently renewed… with Mike’s Fitness now at $ 500+ per yearly membership, Curtis Hall is a great find and bargain.
The downside is the few number of machines, which is only a problem when one of the local baseball teams is there at the same time as you; and also the hours are a little tight but not awful.

this place is the deal of the century. yearly membership $ 25. then to use the pool, a measly $ 1.50 per time, or you can buy a pass for $ 10 that lets you in 12 times or something. it’s only 3 lanes, but so far has been manageable (the most i’ve seen is 3 ppl in a lane), then again it is freezing outside, so who really wants to swim except the truly dedicated like myself (cough). yay! curtis hall! and it’s two block from my house! i haven’t checked out the other amenities, but it also feels warm and fuzzy belonging to a community center and swimming with your neighbors.
