Wonderful, friendly staff and absolutely delicious food. A comforting, quiet nice environment. I only wish I lived here so I could come to this restaurant more often.

I visited with a customer who is vegetarian. The only reason I picked this venue was based on many positive reviews. Here’s what you need to know about this restaurant — - This is a cash only restaurant. While they don’t serve meat/animal proteins, they do serve many meat analogue products for those who are flexitarians or trying to cut back on animal proteins. The venue is very small and resembles an old 1950’s soda fountain. They play homage to Sri Chinmoy whose pictures and books are plastered all over. You couldn’t tell from the staff that this restaurant was buddhist, but the food and culture seemed to be. They only serve breakfast and lunch. They seem to specialize in breakfast, though. we came for lunch and my customer and I ordered the turkey club which was amazing. Served with wheat toast, the veggie turkey and bacon tasted exactly like the real thing. For beverages, there’s water and Pelligrino. All parking is on the street. Best to walk.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. We came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Ordered the egg benedict & the steak burger. Both were delicious especially the egg benedict, which was amazing! They only take cash but everything on the menu were pretty cheap. All total, we spent less than $ 20 for our meal. Decent portion. Our meal was filling. Great atmosphere! Sky blue painted wall, very bright inside, very relaxing. Great service! Everyone there was very polite. Another great vegetarian place here in Queens. We love it! Wish they would have longer hours. This place closed at 3 in the afternoon. We’ll definitely go back!

Dined here after a flight from Ft. Lauderdale to NYC. Awesome little vegan/vegetarian diner not far drom LGA. I had the Tofu Scramble(Mexican style) and my girlfriend had the Veggie Burrito with the vegan option which omitted the cheese from the recepie. Both were amazing. They offer fresh juices and smoothies as well. All prices are VERY reasonable. We will eat there again on our way to our return flight.

This diner has a new menu from the last time I went and if it is possible it has actually gotten better. The steak burger is still served(thank God) but they have added in stacks of new omelet options, delicious pancakes, juicing with the option of super food additions and great coffee. It is vegetarian and the salads are fresh and stacked high on your plate. It has a peaceful atmosphere and seems to be open almost every day. It has had a facelift and I will be returning

Walked here from the courthouse while on a lunch break while on jury duty. I instantly felt at ease by the calm nature of this place. I ordered the cold ginger blast and the veggies & beans rice bowl. Awesome flavors, fresh ingredients, kind staff. Even though I live in western Queens, I will make it a point to return here and bring friends.

Just a good place to catch a tasty breakfast or lunch. Their pesto and goat cheese omelette is really nice along with the eggs florentine. It’s rare to find a place like this with consistently good soup! The best quick lunch item is the steak burger; quick, filling and always delicious.

This is the only breakfast place I would ever eat at in Jamaica. I mean really ! The people who live in the area know that fresh, healthy vegetarian options are few and far between. This place got a face lift over a year ago and it seems they expanded their juice and smoothie menu which is great because I have been cleansing for the last few weeks. The staff seem to be pretty cool with me creating my own combinations, although generally I order a simple apple/carrot/celery/ginger juice. Hillside Ave and Parsons Blvd are both noisy and dirty most of the time. But when I step into«The Smile» I feel transported. It’s become my refuge when I get down or need to escape the the city. Its like one of those cafes you expect at a Californian meditation refuge or a yoga studio in Manhattan. The workers are all happy and friendly and I guess they are all part of the same spiritual group that runs the other blue stores on the block. Whenever I visit the smile I always pop into the gift store for some incense and some fresh organic veggies at the corner healthfood store. Aum Shanti :)

Stopped here to get a caffeine fix and ended up getting one of their morning smoothies(which had coffee in it as well as some other yummy healthy ingredients.) The staff were friendly and extremely helpful when I decided to study the menu. The place gets a lot of credit for being successful at fusing the diner and yogi/spa vibe. The music and scenery were very relaxing. Next time I’m in the area I will make sure to go with an empty stomach because their healthy twist on diner food is too good to pass up. Namaste!

A true neighborhood favorite and one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life. It’s worth the trip from wherever you are to enjoy great vegetarian food that is both healthy and filling. I’ve been coming here for 20 years and I have to say that the place keeps getting better.

This place is a HUGE part of my childhood. I grew up down the street from this cute little breakfast shop and went to the elementary school across the street. My sister and I had a morning ritual to grab a bagel and coffee from here every morning before i went to school and she got on the F train down the street I guess it’s not hard to mess up bagel and cream cheese, jelly, or butter but this place is phenomenal. The service has always been quite lovely and the place is spotless. The sky blue paint throughout the shop is reminiscent of many other Guru shops and is oddly relaxing. I’m moving back to NYC after being in school for 4 years and this will definitely become part of my morning ritual again!

I love this place. The food is delicious and super healthy. Vegetarian vegan even gluten free dishes. I asked for gluten free wraps and immediately the owner made a purchase of them. So even tough u may not see gluten free wraps in menu, ask fir them. Love this place. I will be going this morning for buckwheat vegan pancakes.

Tryed this Place for the 1st time … ive been passing by it and going in the shops around it(the 99 cent store, Health food store on the corner etc…) but was always weary to eat here… I gotta say i wasnt missing anything… MY order: Breakfast Special(2 egg whites Home fries and Toast) and a short stack of pancakes . The egg whites where pretty GoodT asting for bland /runny looking egg whites, the Home fries was kind of dry and didnt have the onions and peppers it usually does from other places. The pancakes were Large, but looked like the same pancakes you make at Home, which made me feel like i could have just made it at Home($ 3.25 for 2 pancakes. vs $ 3.25 for a Box of Pancake mix you just add water to and can make about 20 pancakes with) The Pancakes also Had a tangy taste to them. they were buttermilk pancakes and i know butter milk in general has a tangy taste … but ive never tasted that in buttermilk pancakes … All in all i wasn’t impressed and probably wont be going Back.

After picking my wife up at JFK in the morning from her long flight she was in need of some good eats. After a quick look of what was close by it seemed that Smile of the Beyond was a good choice according to fellow Unilocalers. The place was not your average run of the mill eatery but don’t let that scare you off. The establishment was clean and bright and the server friendly and informative. I had a full stack of pancakes with pure maple syrup not the fake stuff that you find in the average joint and a hot cup of organic coffee. I don’t recall what my wife had but she did enjoy her meal as well. I would go back here if I happened to be in the area and would not hesitate to recommend this diner to anyone so if your in the area and your hungry don’t hesitate to give them a go.

After a mega long international flight my belly needed some good clean American noshes. The L sought out veggie places for morning eats and found this little gem not too far from JFK. Very low key and painted in a most placid shade of blue we took to our booth and gandered at their extensive menu. While the vegan choices were limited, with the guidance of one of the gentleman there, I quickly settled on a Tofini Pita crammed with the most colorful raw veggies, a treat for me after weeks of cooked food. Along with a very flavorful and equally bright carrot apple juice my innards were doing a happy dance at the fresh bounty set before me. I finished every bit! Smile … Is a great option for veg friendly brekkies and lunch not only if making JFK a part of your itinerary but if you are in Jamaica, no mistaica! ;)))

One of my favorite vegetarian places in the city. While the food is good(soups excellent) and the service is friendly(always a smile from the Sri Chimmoy followers) it is the ambiance that I love. The old greasy spoon luncheonette is usually limited for vegetarians — not another grilled cheese! Buy to be able to walk in and have that NYC luncheonette and be able to eat anything on the menu is awesome. Another BLT with extra«B» please.

This«vegetarian luncheonette» has the classic NY greasy spoon diner feel, but its actually healthy. Go for the classic breakfast with soy bacon and sausage, or enjoy a variety of sandwiches, casseroles and soups for lunch. Fresh juices and organic coffee again defy the diner genre, but its always fun to sit at the counter by the grill or in the homemade booths that are all packed into the small but cozy place. They close late afternoons and are Monday — Saturday. Parking in front can be a challenge, but nearby neighborhood streets often have spots. Just up the hill from the Parsons Blvd F Train stop.
