I really like the ceviche here. Very fresh and tasty. It takes a little longer as they need some time to prepare it, but it is well worth the wait. Only down-side is that they are closed on a certain day during the week. Call head to make sure.

Great food, quick service. If you’re down for a conversation with fellow Jamul residents, chill out in the bar area. Sports are always played on the televisions.

Awesome Mexican food. Ernesto and his family run the place and you can tell they care about everything. I love the chicken mole enchiladas, shrimp cocktail and carnitas extra crispy.

Best mexican food in Jamul. The carne asada is very tasty and not fatty at all. The proprietors are all really friendly and make a point to get to know repeat customers. I’ve been comped a beer on the house while waiting for food. Everything we have had on the menu is excellent. Beans and rice are excellent – some places can just get it wrong — but not here — glad to have it near me!

Holy guacamole! This place is a new FAVORITE. Everything looked so delicious. I got the California burrito with pollo and my friend for a plate with an enchilada and a chicken taco. Maybe one of my favorite Cali burritos of all time. The ambiance is also wonderful. It has a honey vibe. The gentlemen who served us was a little forgetful which is why I left out a star. I asked for a few things that were never brought. :/ But mannnnnnn, I’m already for my next trip there.

I like to try out of the way restaurants and tonight was no exception. My wife and I took a few of our kids here to celebrate a birthday. Pat myself on the back for a great choice. Our server, Carmen, was great and so was the food. Chimichangas, tacos and burritos were popular at our table. The homemade albondigas soup was so good, I thought I had made it myself. When I told Carmen that we had a birthday in the party, she brought out a piece of cake called a called a cocoa-flan. Wonderfully delicious. Carmen had a gag for the birthday boy too. She put a trick candle on his cake. One he couldn’t blow out! ! Try Hacienda Jalisco in Jamul. I think that you will like it.

This is probably the most legit Mexican eatery in the middle of Jamul, literally the front door is right off the highway 94 as in 2 steps you’re in the bar area! They also have an entrance in the back off their patio where you can park in the dirt. We came here after the gym and we were starving(very casual spot). We were welcomed with smiles and sat immediately(she said anywhere you like). We chose the back orange colorfully decorated room with tables. The front bar area has high top tables with authentic chairs. Very chill spot. Actually it was so quiet. The tv’s were on but muted and there was no music playing. The menu is vast and has a lot of options for breakfast lunch and dinner. Our server arrived with homemade chips and their mild salsa. We started off with horchata. This is how I figure out how the rest of the meal will be. Well, it came to the table and I could already tell… yes…homemade horchata with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Delicious! I ordered the California burrito(with the best crunchy fries, avocado, sour cream, cheese) it was gigantic and cut in half perfectly plated. I tried their verde and red hot sauce both were really appetizing. Husband ordered the huevos con mole(scrambled eggs came with rice and white beans). I had a taste and the mole was divine. They also have a kids menu selection in which we chose the cutest beef burrito, French fries, and their refried beans. The prices are spot on and the food is so flavorful. Our server was lovely and the customer service is very friendly. Loved the décor of geckos, ant figurines, crosses, and bright ceramics. Definitely has the Mexico vibe. We will definitely be back.

Bad. So bad. Food tasted like things had expired, whoever was cooking in the back was yelling at the man who owns the place super loudly. I was the only person there and it felt like I was intruding in someone’s home.

Stopped in after a hike on the PCT. Was ravenous. Promptly served tortillas and given menus. Order was placed, food came out very quickly. I think the barkeep knew we were hungry because service was fast. Food was good, but I left wanting more. Cool little location and nice décor.

Really? Won’t be supporting you anymore, you’re not in Mexico, you’re in the USA, so you fly the American flag not the Mexican flag.

Prices on the menu were similar to fast food Mexican so I was curious how it would compare. Ordered the enchiladas with salsa verde and they were delicious. Came with the usual rice and beans and other than the beans needing some salt, it was delicious. Ernesto was very nice and we chatted for a bit outside while he worked on the exterior. Nice little ride out in the country for a good meal. PS: Ernesto liven up the salsa that comes with the chips

Legit looking Mexican place. Good menu with many options. The food however wasn’t as great as all the reviews claimed. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing. I got the California burrito(meat, fries, Guac, sour cream, cheese) it’s a big burrito that’s filling. Also, the salsa is not very hot, even the habanero

To start, a warm greeting from the owner, Ernesto. He has a huge heart and is so proud. This place is worth the stop. The servers are friendly but it is Ernesto who makes this place ROCK! The queso fondito is unreal. I can’t even figure out how they did that! The quesadilla is amazing! The chile relleno is awesome and the Peruvian beans are the best ever! Start there. Even cool trees. And I have to say that these people are trying harder than I think I have ever seen. The bathrooms are unreal! They had lotion, soap, parfum, you name it! And well decorated and clean!!!

This is a welcomed restaurant to Jamul. The service, every time, is personable and outstanding. A complaint one may have is that service is slow; however, if considering the fact that this is a family serving you it is understandable that the dishes come out as they are completed. This truly is home cooking. I would encourage anyone nearby or those looking for a road trip to stop by. The Pescado Relleño is excellent. Check the hours of operation.

Good atmosphere, and the staff is friendly and hardworking. I have not had many meals here yet, but what I have had has been very pleasant. Only recently did Hacienda Jalisco receive a liquor license, limited to beer and wine, although the bar area is cozy and great for hanging out. The décor is a bit hokey with some dings on the walls, which may or may not be intentional additions, depending on your perspective.

This new Mexican eatery is a breath of fresh air. Located in the heard of Jamul in the old Reno Bar location and recently remodeled with a Mexican Fiesta appeal, this family owned and run business serves up some great Mexican home cooking. After saddling up to the bar and having a pleasant conversation with one of the family members, Crystal, I ordered the combo plate with a shredded beef taco, a chicken enchilada, rice, and re-fried beans for only $ 6.95( ). I was also offered some in house made corn tortilla chips and salsa before my meal( ). The food was great with many highlights. First of all, re-fried beans made from Peruvian beans were very creamy, topped with light cheese, and with bits of tender beans inner mixed( ). They were lightly seasoned, which I liked because it helped me appreciate the Peruvian beans more. The Mexican rice was spot on as Mexican rice goes. It was light and fluffy and more importantly, it had that great tomato flavor with perfect seasoning that Mexican rice comes with( ). Well done. The chicken enchilada came handsomely topped with a flavorful red sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and grated cheese( ). The shredded chicken inside was very tender, well seasoned, and had a very good developed flavor via the red sauce it’s served and cooked in( ). The beef taco was terrific not only do to the tasty shredded beef, but the perfect fry of the corn tortilla. It was crispy yet chewy at the same time( ). The beef taco had a moderate amount of tender fine beef inside. It was juicy and tasted great( ). I really liked the freshness of the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese in the taco. Just a tip: a sprinkling of grated Cotija cheese would put this taco over the top! The menu had a lot of great items. I regret not taking pictures of it, but I will try to get a copy to upload. A few Items that caught my eye was the items meant for two people. One was a platter of grilled meats with all the fixings including tortillas, and a whole fish platter with all the fixing to share with 2 – 3 people. Beer and wine are just around the corner and there is plenty of parking in the back. Service was very friendly and sincere. Nice people indeed…
