They started off with the best biryani but the quality took a beating in the last few months(especially egg biryani). That’s not what the one star rating is for. It’s for a COCKROACH that I found in their to-go boxes when I tried to pack my leftovers. The guy had the audacity to tell me it’s only a small one and it’s there coz’ it was the last box. No regrets whatsoever. I can only imagine how infested their kitchen might be. Hope they come up with NYC type letter grades in jersey for me to pick a decent, hygenic Indian restaurant.

I even not happy to give this rating just because app don’t give an option for magnetite rating., got chicken biryanis and mutton ., it’s worthless go this place. specially when it’s in week end, they don’t even mind about the quality& content of chicken that they are including in each biryani .two to three prices for each biryani, really NOT at all happy. i never recommend this to even my enemies…:)

I have to admit that this place undoubtedly makes best goat Dum biryani. On top we ordered the house special fried mutton, absolutely awesome. Will go and order again and again.

You know when you read all those one star reviews and think, «that was a couple months ago, surely they’ve gotten it together by now»? Or you think, «man, that person probably doesn’t like *anything*»? Yeah, go back and read those reviews again. 45 — 60 minute delivery was more like 90+ minutes. For a $ 10 delivery charge(more than 25% of the total meal value), I actually expect you to deliver within 45 — 60 minutes. My criteria for tipping when I am already paying for delivery? You get my meal to me on time and it is HOT and fresh. You asking me for a tip when I’ve already had to call the restaurant and ask where my food is? Forget it. Take it up with your boss. Chicken Tikka Masala — a few chunks of chicken in Campbell’s tomato soup with some onion(peppers? what peppers?). No spice, no flavor Palak Paneer — over processed. «Gel-like consistency» which my husband says was OK, but looked runny to me. Hyderabadi Vegetable Dum Biryani — Mixed vegetable apparently means carrot. Had some flavor, but the yogurt based sauce was so runny it was inedible. I can say that the Naan was at least somewhat enjoyable. However, it was room temperature at best. No, don’t bother with this restaurant — especially if you are going to order for delivery.

The service was awesome(very fast). Biryani was okay: very strong taste of cloves which I don’t like that much. Dessert was not worth it: had ordered rasmalai and it did not taste like rasmalai. For only the food, I would give 2 stars.

This is probably the BEST indian food i’ve had, and we’re having indian food once a week for years. However, this is definitely not a place to eat in, the restaurant is windowless and the staff is not amazing. Take your food home and enjoy the wonderful bang-for-your-buck value as well as the really excellent food.

Found a COCKROACH in the food! You decide yourself. The manager was apologetic but I guess it was too late to not leave this review.

I read other reviews, and yes they need to work on their service, but the food was wonderful!!! I asked for mild and it was a little more spicy than I desired but the taste was incredible. Yes, it’s a whole in the wall but I loved my food.

CT is griped by famine when it comes to finding good Indian restaurants… Therefore more than often you will find us reaching for water at our neighbors, New Jersey. I am not a connoisseur when it comes to biryani or anything for that matter but our friends and I seem to think the biryani here is really good. Although my search still continues… this is as good as it can get here in the US, I guess. We had the chicken and goat biryani. the meat was tender and flavorful, the rice grainy slightly coated in grease though. The salan is unlike I’ve had in most place which is nothing but colored water. We also had chicken 65 and pepper chicken which were also gr8. our order is usually takeout so we would eat it like almost 3 hrs later(due to the commute) and even then it’s still warm. 4stars just for that.

Giving 2 stars only for good service. Ordered, VEGCORNSOUP it was no where like a soup. KADAIPANEER(Spicy) had half cooked veggies with loads of black pepper.

One line verdict: This is literally the worst chicken biryani I’ve ever tasted. Details: On a weeknight the husband & I were craving biryani and impulsively decided to order chicken boneless biryani & goat biryani from Biryani Pot. The regular chicken biryani is $ 8.49 and the special version(listed as house special boneless chicken biryani on their website) is a whopping $ 14.95. Given this price difference one would expect the«boneless chicken pieces» to be real pieces of grilled chicken or tikkas. But clearly the owners of this franchise of Biryani Pot thinks their entire clientele in the JC-Journal square area is meant to be taken for a ride! So they are serving this version of biryani with pieces of «Chicken 65» in it. And they have the audacity to not only charge $ 6 extra for it, but also pass it off as «chicken boneless or tikkas». FYI guys — Chicken 65 is a version of deep fried TINY pieces of chicken(more like chicken fritters or pakoras. Here’s the recipe — Chicken boneless when used in biryani is the authentic charcoal grilled version of chicken pieces — and everyone knows what it is except those cooking this really poor man’s version of biryani at Biryani Pot. And purely judging from the texture of the chicken 65 pieces — looked refried multiple times beyond recognition, and the chicken was chewy & completely inedible The goat biryani was marginally better, but tasted stale and reheated. Both the dishes were super-duper spicy — clearly they feel drowning the lack of flavor with additional chili powder is the way to go.

Out of all the restaurants we have tried in this area I feel Biryani pot has been consistent with the biryani’s they serve as well as their tandoori entrees. We always order Chicken biryani but the raita and the complimentary curry they give on side is tasteless. The tandoori chicken is pretty good, they serve it as sizzler. The staff is friendly. They do need to improve the service.

Ordered 2 Chicken Biryani’s, one very spicy and one mild, through Unilocal’s Eat24 service. After an hour, they were a no-show so I called Eat24 for an order update. The customer service agent at Eat24 called them on the other line, had them hang up twice on him till he somehow managed to get a manager on the line. They then said that the order was just out the door. It finally arrived 35 minutes later, more than an hour and a half late. Being late is one thing, if the food ended up being at least great. Both the Biryani’s were mild, neither of them were particularly anything to write home about. So an hour and a half wait, rude people on the phone, getting our order wrong — all for very average food. Yeah, never ordering from them again.

My favorite restaurant and best biryani so far. But not today August 22 Saturday at 7.50pm for dinner arrived vvvvv hungry. I ordered goat biryani and tandoori malai chicken. Goat biryani after few spoons I found a long hair and complained to the waitress, she brought me a fresh one and surprisingly which had hair on topping with the onions :(… I was so exhausted and hungry had no energy to pick an argument … Chicken almost 35 minutes at least could’ve informed it takes time. Which was served along with 3rd time goat biryani … Service staff were very courteous and too many people take order and never concerned for the food handling safety … Very disappointed. But I tipped over 20% … Hope they’ll keep an eye on the food safety in the future … Good luck

This review is only for the delivery service. Food: The food I get as delivery and the food at the restaurant are for sure different. Every single time I have ordered food from them the food seemed stale specially all the sides like chutneys, raita etc. Would order from them only If wanted to eat sub standard food . Delivery Service: Biryani is one dish which I am sure they don’t cook after placing the order, it’s always pre-cooked. Normally they have a delivery time of an hour which is too much considering that I live in Newport which is 2.5 miles from the restaurant but today that had broken all records of delayed service, even after 1.5 hrs of ordering food when I called them I was informed that the delivery guy had left 15 mins back but I didn’t get the food till at least 2 hours of me placing the order. Maybe it was a busy day but 2 hours for pre-cooked food is too much. Would definitely avoid ordering food from this place.

Picked up some goat biryani for dinner here on my was home. The restaurant itself looked a bit shabby, but I took my order to go. Portion size is pretty generous for the price, I got over a pound of food. It tasted just like some of the biryani I had on my trip to India, so I think it’s pretty authentic. The goat in it had a lot of bones, but that always seems to be a problem. At least it was very tender. There’s a $ 15 minimum for credit card, which is annoying if you’re only buying food for yourself, since most of their entrees cost less than that.

Coming from Singapore, Briyani is something that I eat very often and this place Is as authentic as it Gets. I have tried their lunch specials on 2 separate occasion and I have not been dissapointed with their Briyani. Their lunch special comes with a few pieces of tandoori grilled chicken, curry chicken, Dhal curry and the main Briyani bowl with a choice of chicken, seafood or goat. The special is huge and I couldn’t finish the tasty food event hough I was really hungry. The chicken is tender and savory. The spice is not biting hot nor spicy but adds a lot of taste and flavor to the food. The goat I had on a separate ocassion was tender and tasty, without the musky gamy taste. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Indian Square in Jersey City.
