This place is ridiculous. I waited 2 hours for my food and called twice about it. I got no apology for the lateness, just assurance that it was in its way. After hour 2 I called to cancel and got rudely hung up on. I won’t order there again.

They are the best on the Newark Avenue. I have tried a lot of restaurants but, they are really the best in service and taste.

Go to indian joint while I live in JC! Decent pricing. Great portions and flavors. The only thing I wish they did was add more chicken in my Chicken Tikka Masala. Always ask for extra rice because usually they dont give enough, but its free so thank god! I always order delivery from here and they always come within 30 – 45 mins. Also, becareful when you order how spicy because when you say spicy… boy its spicy! I usually order medium because its still a good kick and I have a tolerance about buffalo/siracha status. Chicken Biriyani-good Chicken Tikka Masala(Medium) — Perfect! Garlic Naan– to die for Basmati Jasmine Rive — delicious Mango Lassi — yum yum

First of all, was surprised to see them open on a Monday night, which must be new, so we stopped in for dinner around closing time. Ordered the paneer makhani, veg fried rice and aloo gobi. The makhani was very good, the fried rice was the standard fare and the aloo gobi was disappointing. Overall a decent dinner and will repeat again.

This is the grand dame of restaurants on Newark Ave. Jersey City. There are many varied restaurants and cafeteria style eateries from different regions of India in this neighborhood, but for North Indian and Indo-Chinese food, this is the place. It is not the cheapest on the block; there are white cloth tablecloths, a large and busy staff, and a bar. I have gotten take out several times from Rasoi, and have enjoyed it very much. I like to get the Chili Chicken entrée with gravy(there is also a Chili Chicken appetizer dry, w/o gravy); it is out of this world! Biryani dishes have also been excellent. This is a serious restaurant for those who want a serious sit-down North Indian meal. I would like to try many other dishes on their extensive menu.

I have been at a loss since Karma Kafe has been closed due to the fire in Hoboken. This place was recommended to me by several people. They do not deliver to Hoboken but it was definitely worth the trip to JC to pick up the food since I have had some not so great experiences at other area restaurants. The samosas were great, and my favorite dish, the saag paneer was really delicious and perfectly spicy. The portions were huge and I have leftovers for days. I was just not crazy about the tomato soup — the one at Karma Kafe is too hard to top! I will definitely be back to this place to fulfill my Indian food cravings!

Rasoi is my favorite Indian restaurant on Newark Avenue. At my old job, we’d go here for special occasions(like for birthdays and goodbye lunches). We would do the lunch buffet, so you can get a little bit of everything. So many delicious dishes at a low price(you definitely get the most bang for your buck here). Each roll top chafer is labeled, so you clearly know what each dish is and if it is vegetarian or non-veggie, which is extremely helpful if you’re eating with people who have dietary restrictions or needs. The sag paneer is really good here and the chutneys are very tasty. Lastly, with the lunch buffet, you can get through the meal within the hour without rushing. I’ve also gone here with friends for dinner and ordered off the menu. The food is just as delicious and satisfying. The table service is great and the staff there are friendly and attentive. Once, after we finished with the meal and had walked out of the restaurant, our waiter called after us when he realized I left my gloves on the table. So nice! It’s a great restaurant and I highly recommend it if you are new to dining out in this part of the city.

Great Indian restaurant. 1) It is basically the most established Indian restaurant in Little India, Jersey City. 2) I love the fact they have Dhansak, it is a dish that is very hard to find. 3) Service was good.

Excellent place to have Indian buffet. Brilliant variety of food items are on the buffet menu from south Indian, north Indian cuisine to lip-smacking gol gappe. The staff are diligent but not very courteous. That doesn’t affect the quality or experience of buffet though.

This is an excellent authentic Indian restaurant in the heart of India square. We had some pakoras, chili chicken app(amazing), garlic naan, lamb masala, chairman curry and saag paneer and all was phenomenal. The mango lassi was a gift from the gods. We wanted to try the briyani but didn’t have enough room. Reason to go back. Plus they have a bar! Yay There is a little parking lot across the street for $ 6 you can park for 2 hours.

Had lunch here on 1st Jan 2016. The food tasted Ok but after eating here, Had a bad stomach upset for the next 2 days. I think the place should be inspected by health officials as something is definitely wrong with the food as our entire group felt sick after eating here. Go and eat at your own risk but definitely not recommended.

We went for a weekend buffet of North Indian spread. I must say they serve wide variety on platter for a lunch! It’s a decent option for a sumptuous lunch in just $ 11.50. The food tasted good, nothing extra-ordinary! Although, most of the dishes were extra oily. Best thing about their buffet is they serve pani puris, again good! I liked their main course better than appetizers and especially loved aloo chola tikki, it tasted really good! One can definitely try visiting this on n off for a North Indian buffet spread :)

Lot of locals recommend Rasoi as the best Indian in Jersey City. We decided to give it a try on Saturday night. We ordered Garlic Naan, Paneer Naan, Aloo Tikki, Chicken Saag, and Rasoi Chicken Special. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. All of the chicken dishes and Aloo dish were perfectly seasoned and spiced. The Rasoi chicken special had a fantastic yogurt and butter sauce that had just the right amount of heat and creaminess. If we had one negative, it was that the naan was a bit greasy, but it was takeout, and had been sitting for a while, I would hope it is better when fresh. This is clearly the place to eat in Jersey City, and as a result, they said it would be 1 and ½ hours for delivery. Not wanting to wait, we went to pick it up ourselves, which was not a problem, just be warned that you should plan to order early if you are ordering on a Friday or Saturday night.

I went this restaurant for the lunch buffet, which costs $ 10. The restaurant appears very clean and the staff maintained the buffet well. There is very good selection of vegetarian dishes. There are only a few choices with meat, which I didn’t really care about. Overall the food is very tasty. I will go back here for lunch!

There are few things that gives this restaurant a 2 star from me. Once you order your food, even if the entire restaurant is empty, get ready to wait for atleast 30 min for your food to be ready. Food itself taste like I’d give 3 star Food portion is good The waiters keep walking around here and there and star chatting between themselves but don’t pay attention to their table. The attitude of waiters is like they are forced to be there. They have a poker face while talking to you with no expression or gesture of warm welcome nor they willing to listen completely to what you have to say. They will start walking while you still talking. When my for arrived, soon after that I placed my take out order. I finished my dinner but the order was not ready so I had to sit ideal for a long time. When I opened my take out the next day, they got my order wrong.

Rasoi is the standard. I grew up always eating their food at catered Indian parties or events. There’s just no place else I can think of that I’ve had more in my life. They have a couple locations around NJ and I wouldn’t say this is the best one. But it’s the original! And for that, it will always have a special place in my heart. Haha. But yeah, the chicken tikka — always perfect, the malai mutter — a new vegetarian favorite of mine, and the tandoori chicken — a classic! This is definitely one of my gold standards for Indian restaurants, especially on Newark Ave.

YUM!!! Although I’ve lived in JC for over 4 years in the aggregate, and love Indian food, I’ve only ventured to India Square ONCE. No disrespect, but that hood just ain’t my cup of tea. Tonight I was really in the mood for some Indian, and I’m still a little leery of the yuppie joint on Erie, so I thought I would try and coerce one of the tried and true OG establishments to deliver downtown. To my delight, I found that Rasoi does deliver here(sans coercion). The food arrived within 70 minutes, piping hot, no spillage. Impressive! I regularly order from places in my neighborhood and the food is usually delivered cold, so big points for that! Now, onto the food: I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo and garlic naan. Everything was banging! I’ve had spicier/less sweet vindaloo in the village(which I prefer), but I still really enjoyed this. Everything tasted very fresh. $ 20 delivery minimum, but worth every penny!

I do have to remember to take pictures before I eat. The spices and preparation are on point in this restaurant. I had an issue with the tandoori chicken portion– the menu said, HALFCHICKEN, yet what arrived on my sizzling plate was 3 small thighs and two small legs. Not at all as advertised. When I brought this to the attention of the server– he offered to give me a portion of white meat chicken in some side dish. What arrived was a kabob. The kabob of spiced and grilled white meet was outstanding. I haven’t been here in a while for dinner. I believe there has a been a redesign of the dining room– which is lovely. The booths are comfy, the carpet and décor scream out EASTINDIANPRIDE. There is much more diversity in their patrons from what I can tell. I had a minor momentary feeling of being unseen and not engaged well by the initial attending waiter, but then I felt well attended to throughout my meal. All the food was delicious!
