Awful customer service, the male server actually fingered through my bowl to prove to that my bowl contained carrots. Not Good!!! This cosi should be named something other than cosi.

Went there this morning and as I ordered it was apparent there was a language barrier, the Hispanic woman stared at me blankly like it was wierd that I was ordering food. As I looked around everyone looked like they were trying to do things to avoid the customers like not serve them whatsoever. They were all just doing little tasks that don’t matter to occupy themselves even though customers were waiting, also everyone in there was hispanic and knew little to no english. Count me out of there, food was good but please hire staff that 1) speaks english 2) Knows what customer service is.

The bread they gave with salad each time was stale. I think I have been spoiled by the cosi at 1633 Broadway. This place does not rank anywhere in comparison to that location. I would suggest you ask for a fresh bread in case you have to come to this cosi. For me, the bread is what distinguishes cosi from other salad places. If the bread is not good then it takes major points from cosi.

On a Sunday morning they opened ½ hour late. A nice couple from Sweden said same yesterday they opened ½ hour late. They continued to tell us in Sweden that would never happen. Very sad that on vacation to American they can experience the good old American I don’t give a crap attitude. Very very sad. I’m hoping this review trickes up to the appropriate people who«might» care? Sad

Has potential, but they go through staff like crazy. There are some good days where the person making the salad knows their stuff and others where they fumble through it. The lines can be long, The biggest faults are, they often run out of Kale and spinach at the counter and are too lazy to get more from the back, and later in the afternoon the salad area looks like a food fight took place very sloppy.

This is one of the best goto places for breakfast in jersey city newport area. Me and my wife are frequent visitors here. It is right across the street from PATH station which makes it easily accessible. Very very friendly staff and awesome squagels. Thats right their bagels are big and come in squares. hence the name. The jalapeño squagel is really tasty. Our reglars are jalapeño squagel with sundried tomato, onions and tomatoes. Or you can have the jalapeño squagel with cream cheese and jam!!!

I got hooked on Cosi about 7 years ago when my GF at the time worked there and I’ve loved it ever since. It is pretty pricey but it’s expected, especially where it’s located. However, the food is really good and the salads are great. Their flatbread is addicting as well. I personally go for the Chicken TBM melt, to die for. It didn’t get a 5 star from me because at times their service is a hit or miss, they tend to run out of things like lemonades all the time and they don’t seem to manage busy hours very well.

Apparently they were short-staffed here during weekends and I’ve being left unattended for a long time. Felt so lucky that I only got a half salad bowl, for which I didn’t have to worry about cooking quality. It turned out to be better than I thought…

The great thing about Cosi is their gluten free egg white cup breakfast option. Typically I’m relegated to fruit cups. The music and ambience in the restaurant were lovely. It was a perfect setting to grab a nice breakfast and coffee before heading to the airport with my family. I’m giving this Cosi restaurant two stars because the ordering process was chaotic and the decaf coffee was lukewarm(though delicious). I was hustled along the line and instead of handing me my toasted sandwich, I had to go back and retrieve it(after I paid, which took 10 minutes) from the counter where it was left for anyone to grab. At checkout I ordered three beverages and none were made for me. I had to go back to the beverage station and two people had to help put my order together(I had ordered a decaf coffee, regular coffee, and kids milk). None of them saw the order anywhere, even though I paid for the drinks. There was a lovely woman, who seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on, that finally got the kids milk and apologized profusely for the wait even though I wasn’t angry or complaining. The meal itself was good. They didn’t have egg whites for the egg white cups so I went with full egg(plus yokes) and the cup with the pico de gallo was delicious. My husband’s egg sandwich was good. I might return for the gluten free egg breakfast offering but I have to believe that other Cosi’s are more organized. Great menu, nice ambience, just missing on execution!

The Newport Jersey City staff continues to impress me every time I visit Sunday afternoons. Not only is the hospitality and comfort in the service(and food) splendid but you just feel the synergy when you talk to and watch the staff do their thing. It’s natural and fluid. Last week I witnessed a harsh customer take it out on this poor girl at the cashier because napkins weren’t laid out by the milk and half and half. The employee calmly told her napkins were never laid out, and I was ready to back her up bc I visit every Sunday and noticed this is in fact the case. The costumer lashed out telling her that napkins were always laid out, insinuating the employee was a liar. Instead of giving the customer attitude or arguing she ignored the comment and gave her a beautiful smile and a few napkins. I hate the hidden rule that a customer is always right. The way this host handled herself with that genuine smile made me crack a joke directly after. I could tell the nastiness from that lady didn’t ruin her day. I literally just witnessed the bread maker and a husky looking male employee working in the back of the restaurant give a homeless woman cash right outside the restaurant. Wish I grabbed a picture of that! These two guys get it! Human service at it’s best, while wearing Cosi jersey’s. If this isn’t a representation of tier 1 role modeling of your brand I don’t know what is. Please give your Sunday afternoon staff all raises because their smiles deserve it, and hard work pays off. This group represents your brand, and brings the experience to a whole other level. I became a Cosi fan when I entered this storefront and met this staff! **I created a Unilocal account just to write this post! –Lou

Cosi over all is a great spot. This location is just awful. I honestly wanted to walk out even after I paid. We came here on Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. ordered our soups and pizza, paid, and then waited over 20 minutes. Once our pizza did arrive, I noticed it was missing something. Oh– we’re missing basil on a margarita pizza. I go up to them and let them know, It took about another 15 minutes to add basil. Pizza is cold, I’m annoyed and the service was poor. No apology, no attempt at making me a happier customer. Just«oh, we will add it.» They also had no pepper, they ran out. they tried to give me the container they use from the line. I mean, come on, what are you doing here?! I’m still a cosi fan but I wont return here. There’s way too many options in this area to deal with poor service.

I work nearby for a few months each year and while I gave Cosi a try for a few weeks at the beginning(esp. for their veggie wrap with hummus and caramelized red onion), I hit a point where it has become really hard to return. The service is inconsistent and there have been a few times where they were out of ingredients. I really want to like this place, but every time I have gone back to try it once again, I am left with this empty feeling. It seems like there was some turnover in the staff or managers that has had a strange effect on the restaurant’s environment. Cosi is a great spot if you are looking for a quick/semi healthy sandwich/soup/salad and aren’t too picky about what you are going to get.

Every so often I forget how bad it is here and I go in to grab a quick bite. I go here more than I check in since I work close by. I am constantly frustrated by how I have to tell those guys my order at least 3 times and they still get it wrong. I ordered a multi-grain bagel with peanut butter. «What would you like?» «What kind of bagel?» «What did you want on it?» And they still put REGULAR butter on it. These guys are in La La land. «Oh I’m sorry we have to make you a new one» Avoid this place at all costs. There’s a deli across the street and a Dunkin Donuts in the mall.

Cosi in jersey city, the tried and true formula. Honestly, it’s a chain, fast casual and one of my favorites. This one is relatively clean and efficient. I usually get the chicken tandoori warmed up and munch on the free bread. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick and simple lunch. Just beware, during lunch time, the line does get long.

I have to say that Cosi is finally starting to grow on me, which is good since it is right around the corner from my house and my fiancée and mom both love it. I have had a couple of very bad experiences at other Cosi spots, so I was very very resistant to even trying this one. However, my family was in the area and wanted to grab a quick sandwich and salad, so that was the place! I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t know if the other Cosis just had poor management and staff, or if I just had bad luck when they were having a bad day(I’ve worked in restaurants, it happens). The food is fresh, fast, and tasty… not unlike the other«fast casual» sandwich shops, i.e. Panera. Their pizzas are tasty and fresh, their soups are good. Their salads are pretty big. I especially like their mojito lemonade, and the free samples of bread that they always have out. I am definitely becoming a fan.

I came here once for a Unilocal event and I returned because I was given a $ 5 gift card. I had a gift card for another restaurant in the area, from the same Unilocal event, so i killed two birds with one stone, being that I’m not in Jersey City too often. I went to Cosi right after eating a big meal at Fire and Oak, and I ordered takeout from here. This review is for my return visit. Although I only got takeout, I did see the dining area. The space is pretty big and there is a fair amount of seating here. There’s also an outdoor seating area, good for those nice days. I ordered the Turkey and Stuffing sandwich.(I’m assuming this is a seasonal item). The sandwich wasn’t bad. It had the signature cosi bread with turkey chunks, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. It tasted a little like a thanksgiving meal. I was also given a small bag of chips, which came with the sandwich. The thing about Cosi though, is that its overpriced, which is why this is a 3 star establishment. The sandwich was priced at right around $ 8 and it really wasn’t that big. I guess the euro style gimmick, makes the price go up on the sandwiches about $ 2 higher than it should be.

Usual Cosi food with fast service and fresh bread. The place isn’t huge but I was able to get a table at lunch without a problem. The Korean pork bowl with bread is a tasty and filling lunch. It’s not worth going out of your way but Cosi is always a solid lunch option. I’ll hit Cosi in DC quite often and would be back here if I’m back in town sometime.

I ordered a chicken margherita pizza and a Cosi Club sandwich. The service was simply«off» to start with. I think we may have been wanting to order as the manager or perhaps franchisee owner was coaching an employee so it was a little awkward. There was some confusion on making the pizza and I found it unappetizing as it arrived with cheese that wasn’t completely melted and actually not hot or warm. The flatbread itself was toasty but the pizza was not that great and quite salty. The Cosi Club sandwich was a tad better but again really salty. I found it to be somewhat pricey too at nearly $ 20 with only adding a lemonade and a bag of chips. Probably won’t be back, there’s a ton of other options in the area.
