Was out here recently for an errand of sorts and I stopped in to see if I could find a gift for the ball and chain. The merchandise is what you expect at any Pier One. Store appeared reasonably well laid out and neat. Now, I know this may seem really petty but my two-star review reflects the fact that the Christmas music piped in was not only too loud but aggressive and abrasive. All tunes were ratcheted up with piercing percussive crashes, jumpy tempos and plenty of caterwauling(thank you American Idol). I had to leave after about five minutes because it was so irritating(I didn’t buy anything). Hey store manager, hey corporate, do you know who your clientele is? It’s a lot of women over 60 plus a lot of women into sort of the Martha Stewart thing(not being critical of tastes here by the way, just giving you an idea of who buys your stuff, Pier One). I guarantee you that your customers hate your music. Tone it down both in volume and tempo and make it less in your face. You’ll probably experience an uptick in sales. Listen to me. I know what I’m talking about. I have family that was in the retail business years ago and as a business you should make your atmosphere suit your most common type of shopper. They’ll be happier, stay longer and therefore buy more. It’s so obvious. I don’t understand how a major retail establishment can make a dumb mistake like this.

Never a fan of any Pier 1 Imports. Some of their stuff looks nice but all of their stuff is constructed with the poorest quality materials. I have never purchased anything from Pier 1 that wasn’t total crap. It either starts to bend crack and break within a year or it falls apart if you, god-forbid, have to move! Whenever my wife says let’s go to Pier 1, the first thought that pops into my head is «when is the next bus coming so I can step in front of it.» :) Have Fun

Let me start by saying that the staff has always been very helpful, friendly, and tried to be accommodating. They are great! Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the overall organization and systems that they have in place, which seems to stem from corporate inventory and web management tools. Again… I don’t blame the individual store or employees. I have been here a few times to pick up items that we ordered online, find a product that the website said was in store, and return damaged items that were shipped to us from an online purchase. Each time, it was difficult for the employees to find the item, find the order, or find my online receipt. They seem to be living in the dark ages when it comes to online inventory systems. In general, I find the stuff at Pier 1 to be beautiful but not very well made, and easily falls apart. I guess there are always trade-offs!

Don’t believe anything they send you in a coupon by email. «15% off holiday decorations, select items 20% off» means there are some old Halloween decorations that are 15% off(it was late November) and I found one item at 20% off in the entire store. It’s the epitome of false advertising and they caught me on this for the second and last time. I won’t be back.

I think this is a pretty cool store. The furniture is beautiful and sturdy, and different what what you’d find a Raymour & Flanigan. They have some quirky pieces. They also carry kitchen items such as plates, and utensils so you can certainly cross off several items from your list on one shopping trip. I like that there is a no pressure atmosphere and the employees are very nice and friendly. I even saw them carrying items out to clients’ vehicles… great service in my book.

Really cramped. For a store like Pier 1, this is a bit dangerous. So many breakable things! It’s overpriced. But that’s the rule with this chain. I love to browse, but honestly rarely buy. We went in looking for a tree topper. They had $ 13 ornaments. We didn’t stay too long after doing a lap of the store. It’s not great, but nothing wrong either — apart from the aisle spacing(I can’t think it’s handicapped accessible?). Eh.

Made the trek to Jersey City all the way from Sunnyside to buy a couch. There was a mishap with the inventory tracking system and the couch I traveled an hour and a half to buy was not there. The employees were sympathetic to my cause and helped me order the couch I wanted and schedule a delivery. Though I don’t have the couch yet, it should be here is 7 – 14 weeks. Thanks Camelot for all your help! You know how to please a customer!

An employee here went above and beyond for me when I was looking to exchange a ring that had fallen apart. She searched other stores, told me when the next shipment was coming in and called me when it arrived. I received such complimentary service, which I rarely find these days, especially around the holiday season. Pier 1 has such dainty home décor and wonderful smelling items, I love walking in here. I think some of their products have become a little kitschy, but what store hasn’t? Either way, convenient location to Hoboken, friendly and helpful staff and lot of selection!

Didn’t have too many problems here. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. I thought this store looked really small from the outside, but when I stepped in, I was pleasantly surprised. They stuff a lot of inventory in here, given the small space. Come to Pier 1 when they have sales going on, and you can find some hidden gems. I think when stuff isn’t on sale, though, it can be a bit pricey. I mean, $ 20 for a couch pillow? Anyway, on my trip to furnish my apartment, I found a cool nightstand table for only $ 80 when I’ve been finding nightstands for like way over $ 100. Also, I got two corner pieces for a sofa(smush them together to get a loveseat) for only $ 300, which wasn’t bad given that sofas are usually like $ 600+ So just spend some time and be patient looking around, and if you have questions, just ask, and they are usually pretty good about answering your questions.

Overall, a normal Pier 1. The service here was slow, which dropped it a notch. Overpriced? Yes. But what do you expect from imports? People seem to like the idea of buying household goods that come from somewhere else, when much of the items can be bought at other local furniture stores and home décor stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond for much cheaper… I guess people like their European tastes.

I really shouldn’t complain about Pier 1. My apt is 75% furnished by Pier 1. My roommate is absolutely obsessed with the store. They had a good delivery deal of $ 50 and within one day our apartment was fully furnished with Pier 1 furniture and tchotchkes. Pretty sweet for a new roomie like me. If you’ve seen one Pier 1, you’ve seen them all. The goods are similar to Cost Plus World Market and a mix of Z Gallerie, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel and Bombay Company. Dishes, fake plants, candles, bed sets, dressers, drapes, rugs, clocks, mirrors, etc. You can find anything you need here. It’s just over priced. However, there are some good deals here, especially when things are on sale but for the most part, stuff here is nice, I just don’t know if it’s actually worth your money. The one thing I absolutely do love and stand by at Pier 1 are the Papasan chairs. Do yourself and everyone who visits your home a favor. Buy one or two. The Papasan chair is the most comfortable chair you will ever sit on. You could even sleep in it. It’s like being cradled in the womb again. PS– The Papasan chair is filipino and especially made for Pier 1. Yay for Pier 1!
