Very disappointed in Maurie’s. We’ve been going here for years, until last night. After waiting an hour and 20 min for our pizzas we were informed, the kitchen had put on wrong toppings. We said we’d take it anyways, the waitress came back and said they had immediately scrapped the pies. She said they could have our correct pizzas out in 20 min(we got thin/deep). It already being 9:30, we declined the offer(knowing it would take at least 40min). Honesty would have gone a long way in this situation. The owner offered to «pick up» our app, and showed no genuine concern. After a woman from our group spoke with Norm, he said he would cover the bill, but just leave! Sad to say we won’t be returning. I have never been so disrespected by the owner of an establishment. Pizza enthusiasts, be warned!

Unfortunately so disappointed in mauries table. I grew up going to this place for pizza after sports games. Pizza was always so good! Decided to go tonight and was so sad to See how much this place has changed. The cheese sticks came out very hot but was served with ice cold marinara. Didn’t complain, waited for the piZza. Ordered a large thin crust with«everything»(sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, and green pepper), only no mushroom on half. Pizza came out hot, and the half with no mushroom had very very scarce toppings. Crust was so soggy, so we asked the waitress if that was what the pizza was supposed to look like, she right away sent the«manager/owner» over. He was a disgrace to owners everywhere. Came over to the table with a menu in hand immediately asking what the pizza was«supposed to have on it» and said that he saw onion, green pepper, etc etc all while pointing this out. He came to the table looking for a fight, didn’t care about our business or if we’d ever be back. So sad to see this is what this place has come to since it has been a joliet staple for my whole life! I’m sorry for anyone who tries this place or has faith in this place. Jacks frozen pizza is a way better option than ever stepping foot in here again. Consumer beware!

I have been going here since I was in diapers. It might be the actually place where my love affair with pizza began. Classic joint with a great pizza. Long wait times are worth it. I always go for sasuage, mushroom, onion, and green pepper.

Ok, my tour of Joliet pizza continues… Maurie’s has been around for decades and is standing the test of time. The crust compared to Linda’s, Aurelio’s and Marchelloni’s is the best: it’s homemade, thin and very crispy — excellent. The sauce and toppings need to go to the edge of the crust as the crust is very hard without the sauce. The sauce, hmm…, a bit like tomato paste without the sweetness. Cheese is ok. Onions were diced and couldn’t taste them. Mushrooms were fresh and ok. The sausage is something off of a frozen Celeste pizza — little round pre-made balls, rubbery and with no flavor. Next time I’ll try the pepperoni. My dog loved the hard crust(he wouldn’t eat Linda’s crust.) My ranking of the 4 so far is Aurelio’s, Maurie’s, Linda’s and Marchelloni’s running a very distant last.

This pizza is just a good as it gets. I’ll travel well out of my way or pickup, or if I know I’m going to be in Joliet I will figure out a way to pass this place. They use the best ingredients.

The restaurant was almost empty when I went in and asked for a table for our party. The host directed us to a to a white plastic folding table, the kind they sell at Costco or Sam’s Club. It was the only table like that in the place. I asked the host if we could sit at one of the unoccupied wooden tables and was told«We don’t have anything else available.» I walked out and will never return!

The first time I had Maurie’s pizza has to be 30 years ago. I recently moved back to the area and stopped in for some pizza and beer. It was just as I had remembered it. It brought back a lot of memories. Glad to know its still going strong.

By far the worst pizza i have ever tasted. Grew up in chicago and i think i know my pizza this place was recommended by a friend so me and my wife tried it. Don’t mean to sound cruel but a frozen Tombstone is way better. Pizza was small bad flavor bad sauce and the cheese tasted like plastic. I know it was fat free cheese terrible!!! Don’t mean to offend the great people of Joliet who grew up on it sorry. Do not try this pizza please save yourself.

I dont think they should call their pizza a deepdish it’s just more cheese, and usually really runny. I love the looks of the place with the tables carved into. Gives it an urban look. the bar isn’t any good so drinks are out or the question. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here or anything but it’s ok.

They have the best pizza! It is always consistantly delicious. We always order the thin crust and the same toppings-we’re just creatures of habit. They are always generous with the toppings. It’s a charming atmosphere at the bar and the girls are always nice. I do wish they would deliver, but, then again I wouldn’t be going to the bar and having a quick one and enjoying a friendly face.

Being stuck living on the coast, I don’t get good pizza anymore. When I’m in the south side of Chicago land, this is my go to pizza joint. Excellent deep dish!

The pizza here is soggy. I was not impressed. Only two of us there and it took forever for this pizza with scarce toppings and very soggy crust. I do not get the fascination with this place. Just have to say it must be this place has been a staple and some people don’t know any better. I gave them a second shot and the same thing. I am so disappointed

Terribly disappointed, our order was never put in and we then opted to wait for it to be put in. We were told it would be a half hour. Then 40 minutes later we were brought an undercooked pizza that had to go back. In the meantime the owner came over and made a point to tell my wife not to scratch her name in the table when she was clearly doing it on the back of the booth as is the norm here and has been done for the last 25+ years, never once apologizing for the mistake or seeing to it that we were happy. I was a big fan of Mauries until this real dropped ball. It’ll be a miracle to get me back here

AMAZING deep dish pizza and their boneless wings taste phenomenal! Solid pitcher specials. The deep dish takes awhile, but it is easily worth the wait. Plus the arcade games and jukebox make me feel like a kid again. Love the Joliet décor, and it is awesome pizza. Only reason they get 4 stars is cuz im not a fan of their salads. but really, who cares when their pizza and wings are so great?

Joliet’s answer to deep dish pizza. Excellent. The service was stellar, a real nice informed waitress, who made some great suggestions. This is a family haunt, and I would come back!

This place has the best deep dish pizza! We hae been going there since we were kids! Once you have had one of their deep dish pizza’s you become addicted! The problem is the service there is terrible! It always has been. Sometimes you wait for sometime before they wait on you. The Pizza does take 45 minutes, so it is a good idea to buy your drinks by the pitcher, and make sure you order something to tide you over, because once the waiter or waitress disappears, it is a LONG wait.
