Great food, hard to understand the girl working front counter. I’m originally from Chicago and this is authentic

Ray Ray’s has the best pulled pork in Kalamazoo. I can’t wait to go back and try his other menu items. Yum Yum

I’m from Chicago, too, and their hot dog is definitely authentic. Very good. Great fries, too. My only quibble is that they are way more militant than real Chicago hot dog stands about the«no ketchup» thing. In Chicago, ketchup on hot dogs isn’t traditional but it is blasphemous, either!

I’ve never reviewed anything on Unilocal and probably never will again, but this place is worth it. Best food in Kzoo. Hands down.

Had their rib tips and fries for the first time. Soooo good! And so much food! Can’t wait to try the Italian beef next and the cheese fries. Just make sure to have cash as its a cash only establishment.

Awesome Chicago sandwiches, etc. An oasis in the total food desert that is-KALAMAZOO. Maybe a picture will do the talking for me, if I can figure out how to post one. Anyway, glad I found the joint. Saves me hundreds of miles a year, actually thousands. in commuting.

It is one of the best restaurants in town… the Italian beef is Awasome. The one thing I always crave it is soooo good! The food(burgers, dogs, rib tips) rock. Fresh and great.

Ray Ray’s is pure joy. The Italian Beef dipped with everything is my All Time favorite sandwich. Bring a friend so you can sharesies. Beware the Spicy Chili ! It can be addictive if you can handle it.

Ordered bbq chicken(super awesome), chili dog(all beef!), and hamburger. If only we ate pork… the rib tip sandwich looked mighty tasty. Super friendly staff!(She gave me a slice of cheesecake, just out of the kindness of her heart!) I know we will be back. Cash only is probably for the best as we would’ve gorged ourselves some more. Very pro-Chicago décor and festive. We love finding cool, local places with top notch food and service. Thank you for existing and we will be seeing you again very soon. Would be super geeked to find beef tips on the menu sometime.

I visited Ray Ray’s after reading reviews on Unilocal and tried their Italian sausage sandwich. I was pretty impressed with the food, depth of flavors and condiments on sandwich were really good. However sandwich was little too oily for me. Sandwich bag was dripping oil, otherwise I don’t have any complaint about the place. This is a must try for all international students at WMU!

Had a sudden craving for a wet sandwich, so placed a take-out order for the sausage/beef combo sandwich and fries. It didn’t take long at all, they actually started my order when I got there, and it took about 5 minutes. It is a small location but it felt clean and welcoming. I’m glad I did take-out, so no one could see the shame and mess I made eating. Don’t go here for first dates or with someone you don’t want to see you face deep in a wet sandwich. I literally held my sandwich with a full fist and just teared off bites with my mouth. I got everything on my sandwich(onions, peppers, giardiniera). I am not a sausage/peppers/onions girl whatsoever, and I been fairly vocal in my hatred for bell peppers, but I ate every last bit of my sandwich! It was a great addition to the sandwich. The sausage was also banging! Spicy, charred, and full flavor. Also get the fries! Salt and pepper, fluffy insides. Delicious! It was a huge portion for one person. In my enthusiasm, I didn’t realize how full I was getting, and now I’m insanely full and want to just not do anything for a long period of time. Tl;dr eat here

I’ve lived in Kalamazoo for the past six years and only tried Ray Ray’s this past weekend. My family and I were very impressed by the amazing food and great service. You will wait a little bit of time as your food is made fresh when ordered. It is well worth the wait! The staff are very friendly and take good care of their customers. We had a great experience and will definitely be back. Just a reminder that Ray Ray’s is cash only.

Ray you are ridiculous! I’ve been in many BBQ and beef places all over the country. the combo sandwich I had at your place was one, of the tastiest and certainly one of the biggest that I’ve ever had. I also tried your rib tips perfect smoke ring great barbecue sauce and just the right amount of BBQ sauce. Not too many places take pride in their cooking as you do, but you do it right. By the way I don’t know how you do it but not only good food but your wait staff the girls we’re fantastic. The last time I came to town I went to one of your competitors, I don’t think I’ll be doing that again keep up the good work, see you my next trip.

Amazing food and great people! This place is a small family owned business… I think that’s what makes it so great. I just can’t get enough of the Beef & Italian Sausage Combo … It’s absolutely delicious. This is for sure the very best one I have ever tried so far. The prices are reasonable and the quality is top notch every time I travel cross country this is my must stop place

Don’t judge a book, or a restaurant, by it’s cover. This is a hole in the wall, one table with 4 stools and one table outside — so it is basically a carry out place. We had the bbq chicken and rib tips and they were both amazingly good! Better than what we had at the Ribfest for a fraction of the cost. This is probably the only place in Kalamazoo to get a TRUE Chicago hot dog! Cash ONLY

I’ve been here a few times. I’m a fan of the pulled pork sandwich which I’ve only had once. I’ve returned 4 more times and they’ve been out of the pork every time. And they were out of the chicken every time. They also try and push the rib tips which I don’t like… not enough meat. They need to stop marketing pork if they don’t have it. Poorly managed operation and that’s a shame. So much potential. My most recent visit. Out of pork, chicken, meatballs, rootbeer and ice. It took 40 minutes to get two hot dogs and fries. They sure have the ghetto Chicago restaurant thing down.

Very cool place. I would definitely come back. Food was delicious. I ordered a Chicago Style Hot Dog, Rib Tips, Coleslaw, fresh Veggis. The vibe is especially cool. The owner was running the shop, greeting locals by name, trying to keep a smile on his face despite the tough loss for the Bulls the night before. The place is plastered with Chicago sports memorabilia, including some great pictures of the owner from years ago.

During a quick trip to Michigan I happened to meet the owner of Ray Rays at the restaurant/bar across from my hotel. He told us of his restaurant and recommended that we come in the next day for lunch. When we arrived at our place of business for work for the day, we mentioned the name to the locals there. everyone had been to Ray Rays and highly recommended it. When it was time for lunch, we headed straight there. I don’t feel like I can truly add much to the reviews that already exist about this place, so I’m going to focus on the service. The owner took our order and made most of our food. He tries to handle call in order while taking counter orders, running the smoker out back, and helping his staff fulfill the orders. He’s very overwhelmed and would be well served to train and trust a good set of crew to help speed things along. We finally ordered and paid about 10 minutes after being there. Of course we paid with cash from the liquor store ATM next door, because he doesn’t accept credit cards. When the food came out, we sat at one of the 2 patio tables that are inside the restaurant. Clearly this place is setup for takeout, but we dined there anyway. Our orders were 2 Italian beefs, wet, and the chicken. We were gifted an entire order of rib tips to sample as well. It was so much food, and it was tasty. But I just say I’m not a fan is the wet sandwich. It was just so greasy that way. I highly recommend stopping in with cash and picking up a takeout order!
