If you’re expecting quality, go elsewhere. You have better options at a similar price point near each location. If I’m going to give them credit for something it has to be thier comments on their road signs. They’re funny, however you can’t eat thier sign and I will never have a hot dog there again.

It is not like it used to be. They changed it so much that it’s not worth my money watered down root beer awful chili sauce. New owners ruined childhood memory.

A nice little shop that is reminiscent of drive-up restaurants from the 1950 and 1960s. You pull up and read the little board for the prices — and they only take cash! Then a member of the staff comes to your car and takes your order — bringing back the food/drinks a bit later. It’s simple, and unique in this modern era of «having it your way with 30000 options», but it’s a niche that needs filling.

I like this place a lot. High on my list of fast food and the root beer is very good, not too sweet. Only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is the lack of real sides. Chips and popcorn is it, but that’s the only downer in my opinion. Dogs and ham sandwiches are great.

I love The Root Beer stand and have loved them since I was a child. No one has hot dogs like theirs with chili sauce, mustard, and sweet onions in a steamed bun. Their hot dogs are the only ones that I crave if I haven’t had one in a long time. The root beer is pretty good, too.

Love this place! I have been coming here since i was little. I always anticipate the opening day!!! The only thing i wish they had was some good ol onion rings to go with their delicious dogs.

Andrea did a great job today(Memorial Day) when we stopped for lunch. They were very, very busy but she took charge and got everything rolling. Our wait time was longer than usual but it was not for lack of effort on anyone’s part. Nothing like the hots dogs and cold root beer at the Root Beer Stand to kick off summer!

Not bad for low cost chili hotdogs for the money If they were more expensive I’d want more flavor to the chili sauce on the standard hotdog.($ 1.50) The«cheese» is not real cheese, it is a liquid nacho cheese, I would have like to be warned.($ 1.65) Good for the money.

Stumbled upon this little stand on my way back home to Grand Rapids from a visit to WMU. I was starving at the time with little cash on me. I’m also a huge root beer lover, so when i passed it i had to turn around to check it out. You really cant beat this place for the price. The carhop was friendly and my hot dog was great! The root beer was pretty tasty as well! Next time i’m in Kalamazoo i’m stopping again because I MUST try a root beer float!

Happy memories of here. Still the same delicious root beer in mugs served by car hops, best hot dogs in Kalamazoo with plenty of onions. They make their own chili sauce too. Man I miss this place! I would review more but thats what I got, hot dogs with chili sauce, mustard and onions and frosty cold real root beer, back then I could have all the sugar I pleased but it was a bit much for me this time around. Definitely worth a stop in.

This is a local treasure. Basic, cheap, dependable hot dogs and roof beer. Car hops, homemade chili sauce, grated onions are all just right!

Once it got warm in the spring, I’d start craving the Root Beer Stand. I think my parents still have a keepsake mug from this place from when I was a little kid. This place is cheap, pretty delicious for the price, and the root beer tastes amazing on a spring or hot summer day.

A great stop for a snack. The best root beer, ever. Just a classic hot dog drive-in. I stop in every summer. Did I mention they have the best root beer, ever? They do!

Absolutely nothing negative to say. You know what your going to get. You get what you pay for. Root beer is served in mugs by a drive in waitress! A perfect snack for many moments. Awesome
