This BBQ places is off the chain, meeting Miss Georgia was a great pleasure, she is super nice & sweet. The food was even better. Ribs were meaty, tender & flavorful. The baked beans were tangy & peppery. Don’t let the outside fool you, make an effect to stop in if near by, say hi to miss Georgia.

Okay, listen up folks! This is not a fine dining establishment but, I wouldn’t categorize it as a hole in the wall place neither. It’s like, going to your Auntie and Uncle’s house who throws down on some good BBQ to grab you a plate lol. The restaurant seemed cluttered, there was no trash can in the women’s bathroom, they serve canned pop, use paper plates and plastic utensils. Was I offended? No, and here’s why. The food was amazing! The sausage was the best. It literally melted in my mouth. I didn’t realize how good Texas toast can be too. It was toasted to perfection. Service was good but, a little overbearing at times but, I know it comes from a good place so, I wasn’t too bothered. Mrs. Georgia wants to make sure her customers are taken care of. With that in mind, probably not the ideal spot if you’re in a rush. Next time, we’ll probably take it to go. Personally, I don’t like too many interruptions when I dine out. I will also arrive early if I want some brisket, turkey or, chicken. It seemed like everything was sold out! We arrived around 6 o’clock on a weekday. Maybe it was an off day. They did say a bus load of people dropped by that day too.

My friend and I ate at Back porch BBQ. The food was decent but there are definite improvements needed. The sides were steaming hot but none of the actual barbecue was hot. I ordered a sandwich that had turkey and beef. My friend got the back porch plate that had two sliced meats and ribs. My friend commented that the ribs had cold spots like they had been cooked and then partially rewarmed. When the cold ribs were mentioned to the waitress she offered to deduct $ 3.00 from our bill. The taste of the food was good but I prefer hot, freshly cooked food and unfortunately this was neither hot or fresh. The owner is very nice, but the speed of receiving and paying the bill needs to improve drastically. It took about 30 minutes to get our food packed up, have the bill delivered and to pay and be on her way. This will not be the spot to stop in for a quick lunch. It could be good but the kinks need to be worked out first.

Just like everyone has said, the owners of this restaurant so so very nice. Miss Georgia gave me two hugs! The brisket sandwich and the tenderloin sandwich were so flavorful and delicious. The mac & cheese was so cheesy and creamy! Yummy! Unfortunately they were out of collards greens so I didn’t get to try them. Miss Georgia was very sorry! This place has very much of a family feel where the owners may be sitting down dining with friends. A must try!

Pretty decent Que … We were in mood for ribs, the Unilocal reviews were good and we wanted a new place to try. Went on a slow day and ‘outa ribs’. We got the BBQ brisket sandwich with a side instead. Tender, well smoked meat, tasty and worth the price. Loved the buttered Texas toast. The sauce is sweeter than we normally like but it was still good. Ironically the beans were spicy — lots of meat in them too. If you’re in the mood to try a new place, close to the stadiums and with super nice owners Back Porch Bar-B-Q will be worth a try.

Fantastic barbeque, fantastic folks whose aim is to «make you one of the family». Soooo glad we stopped here.

Stopped on our way through KC on a road trip. Based on other Unilocal reviews, I expected a hole in the wall place with knockout BBQ. Not so. With only 2 other tables with people when we arrived at lunchtime, we waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledged by staff. They apologized and claimed to be short-staffed, but it took another hour just to get our food, which was overpriced and just okay. Brisket, sliced very thin, was nothing special, and the mac and cheese seemed to have been reheated. No napkins were offered and not even salt & pepper was provided on the table. The server was very friendly and polite, but no amount of manners can make up for mediocre food and extremely slow service. I’m not sure where all the rave reviews are coming from, but I’m not a fan of being dupped. We passed up several other BBQ places with equally positive reviews for this disappointing experience.

Travelling through KC on business, I decided to stop in and try Back Porch BBQ. When pulling up, don’t expect to be WOW’ed by the outside or inside décor. This place is for great eats, not looks. I ordered the pulled brisket sandwich with baked beans and French fries. I will warn you that of you want the ribs, don’t come to the restaurant on Monday through Wednesday. People seem to blow through the ribs on the weekend. With that said, the brisket was fantastic. There’s no need to smother the meat with sauce, which is a great sign the meat was smoked correctly. Also, the baked beans are out of this world. I don’t do pork in my beans, but that didn’t detract from how good these beans are. I will definitely come here again.

This place is definitely unassuming when you pull up and it is all about the bbq. The owners are very nice and very proud of what they have. The food pulled pork sandwich was excellent as were the baked beans. You can smell the smoke from the cookers when you pull up which is always a good sign. Nothing fancy here, but don’t let that deter you. Great spot to eat at before heading to a Royals Game.

We wanted a great Kansas City style BBQ and this didn’t disappoint. We are from New Zealand so came a long way for it! Miss Georgia wasn’t there but her son Tim looked after us. He was a great guy who made us feel so welcome. The meat was moist and just fell off the bone. The onion rings were crispy and the baked beans delicious. This is a family run restaurant that also does takeout and catering.

Right off the highway and family owned! Perfect for out of towers driving through KC. We ordered the combo but they were out of one of the things we asked for so Tim ended up giving us an extra meat for free! The ribs are huge and the meat comes right off the bone, the brisket and pork are delicious, and the toast they give you is some of the best toast we’ve ever had. Tim was such a nice guy and was very accommodating and kept checking in on us! Would definitely recommend!

Georgia May makes collard greens like I have never had before any better! I would go here JUST for greens. The coleslaw also very fresh and crunchy not too sweet. The ribs are heaven. Lots of dimension to the flavors. The beans have just the right amount of kick. Sweet people. Giant well air conditioned space with pool and family tables as well as booths. Enjoy! Giant parking lot. Convenient location.

While driving across the country this week I had the privilege of eating at the very best bbq restaurant I’ve ever experienced. Miss Georgia at Backporch BBQ on Kansas City is truly a treasure. The combination of good food and good company made this a cool couple of hours. Even their peers in the bbq community recognize this restaurant as pretty amazing. The owner of the most successful bbq joint in KC claimed it was better than his own food. I love bbq and this is the very best I may ever eat but I’ll keep trying to find better.

Unilocal gave this place a solid review. We gave it a shot. Mrs Georgia will make you at home right away. We were literally the only customers in an odd hour after lunch. Not fancy. But it doesn’t need to be. If you want real southern food, this place has it. The ribs, coleslaw, Mac n cheese, cowboy beans, tater salad, shrimp was packed w flavour. Real good food. Wear dark clothes as you will wear bbq sauce at some point. Come hungry. Leave satisfied. I came from Baton Rouge and this is awesome food.

I cannot recall the last dining experience that was so thoroughly enjoyable! Stumbled upon Back Porch Bar-B-Q because my hotel on a recent business trip to Kansas City was nearby. I’ve tried every major BBQ joint in and around Kansas City on previous trips, so I figured I’d give a new one a shot. It’s now my favorite BBQ spot in KC… and the country. Let’s start with what matters most: THEFOOD. Baked beans are best I’ve ever had. The ribs are tender, the barbecue sauce delicious. Naturally, I came back the next day for lunch, and I had the beef brisket sandwich, with the Texas toast cooked to perfection. The brisket was moist and flavorful. But here’s the distinguisher of Back Porch Bar-B-Q: owners Georgia and Tim Clark. They literally treat you like you are family, with Georgia even asking for a hug at the end. Tim pops out of the kitchen to check on his diners — new ones and regulars — to see if they need anything else. I was a bit under the weather, and Georgia surprised me with a special tea she whipped up, which was quite delicious. I had but one request after I paid and left a very healthy tip: Can they franchise to the Twin Cities?!

Went to this place before a Chiefs game since it’s one of the few establishments in the area. From the outside, it looks totally sketchy(and so does the inside, to be honest), but from my experience, those are the places with the best food. So, Georgia, one of the owners is a character. She sat down and talked to us like we were long time friends or family members, and then took pics with us at the end and made us text them to her. She’s a nice, friendly woman, but will talk your ear off! Lol. She also sat with us for most of the time. There were several times where I’d order a drink or fork or something and she’d forget about it because she was talking so much! Lol. We thought we’d never make it to the game! Food: I ordered brisket and Mac and cheese, a friend ordered wings, and 2 friends ordered pork sandwiches. Then, Georgia told us they were out of wings and pork sandwiches. I hate when businesses run out of food, especially early in the day, but she mentioned they were robbed the night before and someone stole all the food but a few things. In my opinion, it’s best to mention what you’re out of BEFORE ppl start ordering, not after. The time it took for our food took so long! Almost an hour! In the meantime, Georgia brought out complimentary baked beans, coleslaw, and a rib. All amazing. I’m getting ribs next time. She also offered beer(on ice because it wasn’t cold, for some reason) or champagne. I ordered champagne(I know… champagne at a BBQ spot? That’s all they had!) and she brought it out on ice(that was a first) and mentioned that it was mixed with juice and margarita mix. I know she was just being nice and meant no harm, but I was not a fan. If I order something, that’s what I want. Not this other random concoction with 10% of what I asked for. She did that a few times, actually. Someone would try to customize their order or have questions about something on the menu and she’d be like«you’ll like it the way it is! Don’t worry about changing it!» and wouldn’t let them. My friends were cool about it, but if you’re someone that is particular about what you order and don’t like random add-ons, you may be turned off. Overall, good food and prices aren’t bad. Service can be a bit overwhelming if you’re just trying to run in and out and actually want to talk to the people you’re with, and we weren’t happy about them not having half of the things on the menu, but we plan to come back before a game.

I have patronized many establishments in KCMO but my experiance at Back Porch was exceptional. I felt like I was having a meal with family. The owner and her husband were extremely hospitable. I was offered samples of the baked bean(I should have ordered these), the potato salad and given a glass of this famous tea(5 different teas with no sugar… DABOMB!). On my experiance along I have to give them 5 stars! Now for the food… I ordered a slap of ribs and 8 wings. The ribs were pretty good… very meaty… they must have bought them from Costco… the smoke was average. not extremely smokey. I could taste the hickory. The rub was very light as well… not spicy or tangy. I enjoyed the BBQ sauce, it was a unquie down home blend. The wings were large and in charge. I ordered the hot and lemon pepper. Served hot and juicy. Ribs– 8 wings– 8.5

We loved this place! We stumbled upon it tonight and we will definitely go back. When we walked in we were greeted by the owner, Ms Georgia. She immediately started taking care of us. She told us all about the menu and even sat down with us to answer any questions. She took a liking to my momma and helped her figure out what she wanted. Her husband brought us samples of their baked beans, and truly, they’re amazing. They had pieces of sausage, brisket, and pulled pork in them. They’re slightly spicy with a sweet finish. So good! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. The pork was so tender! It was layered about 8 layers thick on grilled Texas toast. It has light sauce that they make in house. It’s smokey and sweet with a slight kick. They slaw is made fresh to order. It was still crunchy! It’s not too sweet, has a nice vinegar flavor with a bit of sweetness. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich. It was so delicious! The brisket had a good smoke ring with a tender inside. He ordered onion rings and they’re perfect. It’s almost a tempura batter. Crunchy, golden, perfect. My momma got the ribs. They’re HUGE! An order is 3 with two sides, but these ribs are massive! She was only able to eat one of them. They have a fantastic smoke ring, a nice chew and pull. They’re really good. When we were done Ms Georgia came over and boxed up all of our food for us. She wouldn’t dream of letting us do it ourselves. She is the true gem of this place. Her and her husband work day in and day out. They make everything from scratch, in house. It’s a wonderful little place that we definitely be back to ASAP.

Genuinely impressed by my first visit. One of the nicest owners I’ve met, and quite likely the most delicious brisket sandwich I have ever had. This place is not about pretense or packaging. It’s about great food. And they really, really know what they are doing. Had the brisket sandwich, beans, and one rib bone. The sauce was good, the meat was exceptionally tender, and the beans were some of the best I’ve had in town. My friend got a sausage sandwich and loved it. Very much looking forward to coming back and bringing friends. Back Porch Barbecue is well worth a visit. Give them a look!
