They’ve got a wide variety of selections – Italian, Asian, BBQ, Farm Fresh – as well as a substantial dessert bar. Food was pretty decent for a buffet; definitely better than something you’d find at Ponderosa, but not as good as eating out at a specialize restaurant.

Servers never miss a beat and the food is consistently on point! Something for everyone so even my picky kiddos leave satisfied with full bellies. LOVE this place!

Better than average when compared to other buffets; but average in terms of general dinning. Horizon boasts a pretty impressive set-up. To each side of the entrance there are two patio-like areas that extend out to the walking paths and the interior dining room is rather large and we’ll decorated with large chandeliers. The buffet area runs along the back wall and is divided thematically, starting with Italian, followed by a salad bar, then«Farmers Market»(which holds among other things fried chicken, steak, green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes), BBQ, and finally Chinese food. The dessert area is towards the center of the dinning area. Each section has a nice front with the area’s name, and offer plenty of options. The lines can be a bit awkward, you can enter by each end of the section and exit at the center, but because each side has different food items you have to exit and then make the line at the other end. The quality of the food is better than what I’ve experienced at other buffets, particularly casino buffets, and they had a large variety of items. The pastas, pizzas and BBQ were good. The chinese area was good as well, but they only had one meat option. Crab legs were a hot item, and most stations had a lot of them with people getting them by the plare-fulls. The beef, on the other hand, rated like it was past its«best by» date. As with many buffets the desserts were pretty disappointing. The only saving grace to the dessert area was the bread pudding, which was good as long as you get some actual bread, not just the pudding left over. At $ 28 it’s actually priced similarly to other casino buffets, but they don’t have special offers like Harras for example, which make it seem more expensive. Service was on point and the servers were friendly and attentive. Overall a good experience, but felt a bit overpriced.

I tried the weekday lunch buffet($ 12.99), which included a drink. The interior was laid out very well, with plenty of comfortable seating in the middle, food bars placed along the outer perimeter, and space between the two. I found a good variety of food, including Chinese, Italian, salads, and desserts, but zeroed in on the American and BBQ cuisines. I especially liked the turkey(which was very moist and flavorful), and the BBQ rib(which tasted smoky, and had plenty of meat). The tilapia, and seasonal veggies were nicely seasoned, while the cherry pie was also very good. Unfortunately, when I went back for more turkey, it was gone. Also, the brisket looked, and tasted, more like roast beef. The waitress was friendly and attentive, the plate removal and drink service was excellent, and the restaurant was very clean. Overall, I’m thinking 4 stars.

I went to the buffet yesterday(Sunday) afternoon. I have to echo many of the comments I have read about Horizons Buffet. It is clean, great ambiance. I really like the high ceilings with the clouds painted on them. Everything is really clean. I went there 6 years ago and the décor looks just as fresh. The buffets were really tidy and clean. The greeters and wait staff were very nice, personable, not fake. I agree with many folks that the flavors of the food are not distinctive and do not pop. The only exceptions was the pasta offering at the Italian section, the mushroom dish at the salad section and the spinach soufflé. They had good flavor. I am sure they could do better. Maybe they are just trying to hit the ‘middle of the road’ and not turn anyone off. The«barbequed ribs»…Nope. Nothing wrong with them per se, just no smokey flavor and a little dry, like overcooked just a on the ends. The middle of the ribs were okay in terms of being moist. BBQ sauce was o.k. Maybe they were cooked in an oven with smoke flavor. Hard to say. It would be great if they could up their game on the BBQ. Good Lord, there is enough BBQ talent in this town that there is little excuse for this. I am not a casino person, so I cannot compare it to other casinos. I would say they do a whole lot of things right, but they need to fix the herb and seasonings in the food and fix the BBQ. I would say it is worth a trip to eat there, but it is not a place where I would tell my friends, «Oh, ya just gotta go.». I do think that some of the beer at the brew pub that they make on site is noteworthy and when I think of good local beer, I would include it.

It takes a while to get seated here, so be prepared to wait in line for at least 20 mins. during busy days. The food is here is your traditional casino buffet food, but the taste isn’t all the way there. The crust on the pizza was hard, the crab legs had holes in the shell and then shells were flimsy and hard to crack. The selection isn’t bad, but I feel that the quality of the food lacks. If you want to go to a buffet that offers crab legs, I’d recommend trying a different casino before going here.

The buffet is always great, we have eaten here quite a few times, and yes, it is buffet, but it gets 5 stars because it has consistently good food, pretty much better than any buffet in Vegas(except maybe the Bellagio), and we have eaten at probably all of them… Paris, Green Valley, all the Stations, NYNY, Orleans… and this one is very good.

My husband and I came here on crab leg night. Boy, were we disappointed. The crab legs were small and had very little meat in them. Many of them we were unable to even get anything out of. My husband had some Mac and cheese and he said it was some of the worst he has ever had(this coming from a guy whose favorite food is mac and cheese). The only bright spot in the trip was our waiter. He kept my tea glass full. Argosy and Hollywood have much better crab leg nights.

I have eaten at a lot of buffets and this one is just meh… while there is a great selection the food is all one note all of the italian tastes the same all of the chinese tastes the same the dessert choice was crappy to say the least although what they had was good… i just did not feel that it was worth the 14.99 when i could have had better with more selection at golden corral. yes the food at Golden corral is better

While this is a great buffet… Closing at 3 while being listed here as open is ridiculous. No one even came to tell is while we waited for them to reopen. While people were working and dining inside. Golden Corral has seriously stepped up their game. A line of 20 waited while I saw over 50 walk away. Maybe to a similar buffet like Golden Corral. Very disappointed. You lost a lot of business.

Coolest. Atmosphere. Ever. I love the huge casino feel, felt like I was in Vegas. To start off the price was about 13 bucks a head on a Tuesday morning. The choices are varied from Chinese to Homestyle to BBQ and more. ALL was great to me and the service was good. I feel the only time you should hit up this place is if you’re into spending great money for great food. There’s just bunch of elderly retirees popping up like clowns in a circus car but they are just dashing. All in all I loved it here for many reasons, and if you’re into playing the slots you’d definitely want to check this place out for sure.

Was here about 2 months ago. I dont remember being blown away by the flavors as I am tonight. The seasonings and sauces have been amazing for every dish Ive tried. Management and Staff running around checking on tables. Robin was just the sweetest thing. I’m betting she was raised in the south. Tip her heavily! Update: I was told this place has changed ownership or management recently. That explains the changes I noticed here and elsewhere in the building.

I was talked into coming back to the Horizons Buffet recently — thought I would give an update. Farmers Market: – No update here… if starch or fried is what you want, you will be happy. And by starch, I mean anything that can resemble a potato. I cannot believe how many potato based foods they have here. I usually just skip this section completely. Chinese: – No update here… tried another good looking dish and guess what??? it was luke warm at best. Just not good… BBQ: – At least they had the tri-tip instead of the dry brisket which one person in our party likes more. Same ol, same ol’…more starch here, mashed potatoes, chips, corn, beans, etc. One person out of the 4 of us had a good rib. No burnt ends… which I like… and regarding that tri-tip, yes, it was fatty. People were getting multiple pieces and eating maybe half of it since the other half was fat. Garden/Salad: – I am at a buffet, I do not waste time here. :) — this was my comment from before, this time, I was desperate and had some salad. Italian: – No update here either… this place still cannot cook a consistent decent pizza. The dough was really underdone this time. And, the pasta dishes are mediocre. They did have some Mexican this time. The beef fajitas look like chips of beef you would be embarrassed to serve at your own house. Dessert: This was sad, my favorite was the ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. There were definitely fewer items to choose from than last time. And, it was consistent with the«looks good but tastes ok at best» motto I had last time. Having ice cream and cookies when there are so many choices is just frustrating. Overall, this is severely disappointing. And, this is at lunch. After the price of the buffet, adding 12.1% tax and a 20% tip — we each paid about $ 18 each. Hats off to Ameristar, if you can keep getting people to come and pay $ 18 for starch and mediocre food — you have found a great business model! I suspect the main reason to even have this restaurant is to give gamblers their«comps», so there is no motivation to make it good for the general public.

LOVELOVELOVE! The variety of food is what I enjoy the most about this«buffet.» I really hate using the word buffet for this amazing place b/c the food reaches far beyond that. The chefs/waiters were so pleasant & friendly. We enjoyed the lunch buffet but it was during Christmas so we were welcomed w/champaigne & all you can drink mimosa’s along w/our meal. My favorite was the italian side… LOVED the rotellini & lasagna rolls. You had almost everything at this one buffet… American, Chinese, Christmas Fav’s, etc… I had a little bit of everything & it was all very good. The desert’s were decadent & simply perfect to top our meal off with. My family & I have been here many times and will continue to come back each holiday for our family get togethers! =)

HA! I love this place hehe… it’s a fat kids heaven. There’s so many things to choose from there’s gotta be something you like right? I have been here more than a few times now. Let’s start w/the service. It’s excellent. I feel like the staff her are always very polite and promt. I like the italian food here and the bbq ribs and the crab legs… ok most of it is good! and the dessert bar is so big. the chocolate mouse w/raspberry sauce is soo good and the crème brûlée.

Think about a stereotypical casino buffet. Guess what? You’ve just thought of this place. Went here on a Friday night with a friend; didn’t realize it was Crab Leg night(and thus, the price goes up exponentially). Had I known that, we would have went at another time, but this wasn’t a deal-breaker. The buffet has four main stations: Chinese, Italian, BBQ, Greens, and the Country Market(which I’m assuming is the codeword for American classics). I was actually disappointed by the main course variety; I don’t think any of the stations were fully stocked as they could have been. Italian had some manicotti and lasagna, and… that was it? Maybe another pasta selection, but there were open slots that could have housed something else. It’s a buffet, so quantity isn’t an issue here. What they did have, they had plenty of it – even the crab legs. Just ask the kid who had them piled to her chin on her plate. Dessert was typical of the rest of the meal — an ice cream station, a chocolate fountain, a little variety in the middle. So, how was all of it? It was… average. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse — and when I say that, I’m comparing it to other buffets — not other restaurants in general. After all, the idea of a buffet is quantity over quality, and this certainly fit that bill. I had a Google offer, so my dining companion and I didn’t pay full price. Honestly, I would have felt a bit cheated if we did.

Kinda angry about this… the champagne brunch has a limit of two drinks now. The waitress brings them around, if you are lucky enough to catch her attention. If you want more than 2 then you gotta pay 2 dollars per round. Rip off.
