Z Strike

I feel like I’m getting a little lax on what it takes to be a 5 star place but I simply can’t find a reason Z-​Strike deserves anything less. Every time I’m here it seams to be a blast.
It is a crazy dance party at night with a lot of hip hop music. And during the day the space is used more like an event space with a bowling alley. There’s a bar and a few lanes separated by an area of tables and seating. It feels more like a lounge than a bowling area with the way things are laid out. It is very open feeling but each area is secluded enough that you don’t feel like you’re intruding or crammed into a tiny building.
The staff is always helpful and in a good mood and they will even put your name in the machine when you get your shoes, because nobody knows how those damn computers work!
After 9 it is 21+ and it is in the power and light block so be sure you know what you’re getting into during the later hours.

Tried to make a reservation to take our family bowling. .. Both my husband and I called on our own separate phones to make a reservation as directed on the website. We were both put on hold for over ten minutes. I called back and tried to ask the person on the other end if they had any open lanes, she refused to talk to me and put me back on hold.
Terrible customer service!

I think bowling gets a bad rap. It’s popularity has seemingly declined over the past decades and bowling alleys become harder and harder to find. Especially outside of the old suburbs.
I suck at bowling. I alternate from one gutter to the other for the most part. But I’ve come to appreciate it’s a fun way to spend some time with friends where you don’t just sit on your behind. So when they recently ran a Groupon that included shoes, 2 hours of lane time and a free pizza for a group of up to ten, I suggested to friends that we go.
Everyone was surprisingly fond of the old classic.
Z Strike attempts to up the hip factor for bowling. They have an updated display and scoring system, they play loud tunes, they have a modern-​ish décor. The lane measures and displays your ball speed.
I was there happy hour time, so it was quiet. On a busy bar night, I can only assume it’s thunderously noisy in there.
But the waitress was attentive and kept our cocktails coming. The free cheese pizza was decent. The order of onion rings we split was good, with a savory sauce, but really more of an onion doughnut in form.
It’s nice to have a slighlty more active alternative in the P&L.

We came here for the pregame party before the KU game. There was a huge pep rally outside, but there was a snowstorm the previous night and it was slushy and yucky outside so I stayed at Z Strike.
I had a white grape drink which was strong and fantastic. We also ordered some food: nachos, wings and chicken tenders. I stuck to the nachos because I love them, but all of the food was surprisingly good.
I loved the setup of the bar. Big comfy couches for people to gather around. The bar was packed with pregamers, but it was not uncomfortable and we were still able to snag a table.
All of the servers and bartenders were super friendly. One person in our group lost his credit card and they helped us look for it even though it was never found.

I’d been here several times when the place was under previous ownership; recently went for my first visit as «Z-​Strike». Verdict is: improved.
Atmosphere-​wise, nothing has changed from the Lucky Strike days. No, seriously. Nothing. All the décor is exactly the same — as is the lighting — the furniture — the layout — everything. The new owners improved on the menu a bit, while coming down on the prices that made a lot of folks turn up their collective noses. This place has the prices of a typical bowling alley with a more upscale feel — compared to the Lucky Strike incarnation, which had the upscale price tag to go along with it.
Granted, this is still more of a «bar with a bowling alley attached», rather than a «bowling alley with a bar attached» — but — it’s a step up from what it used to be.

Headed to P&L with some friends Friday evening. Had planned on seeing a movie at the Alamo, but the tickets were sold out so we decided to go bowling. There were 5 of us, and it was around 7:30−8pm. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a lane so we all headed to the bar and ordered drinks. Fairly priced drinks, and decent service. I loved the layout of the bar area though. Very comfy couches and set up really great for talking. We played one game, and I think it was a little bit more expensive than I am used to paying for bowling. Not much more though. Also well worth the extra money. They were playing a mixed bag of 80’s and 90’s music videos and let me tell you. I could have gone just to watch those. I would recommend it for a fun way to go out with friends. Will be back!

Great location and space, but the service was poor. Waited a long time for our server when the place was almost empty; did not improve as it got busier. Food was fine considering it’s a bowling alley, but overpriced. Paid $ 10 for a cocktail– $ 1 for every minute I waited to receive.

I came here one day w/​a coworker to bowl and check out the happy hour. When we got there, we were greeted by a guy who gave us a clear explanation of everything and told us how the bowling worked. Once he showed us to our lane he said our waitress would be here shortly.
The bowling alley was pretty empty, but it took the waitress a long time to get to us. I’m not sure if she just didn’t know we were here or what, but we ended up having to ask one of the workers to get a waitress for us. When she finally showed up, I asked about the drink specials during happy hour and she wasn’t sure about all of them and then told us that she was new.
We finally ordered food and drinks, which were pretty good, and had a good game of bowling. I was a little surprised when she brought us our bill because we had got charged full price for our appetizers, although they advertise half-​priced appetizers during happy hour. When I asked her why we got charged full price, she said that the spinach dip is the only appetizer that is half-​priced during happy hour.
I guess it was my fault for not asking beforehand, but I would expect the waitress to inform me of the happy hour appetizers when I asked about the happy hour drinks. The atmosphere was really nice and I’d defintely go back again.
