I travel on my own for work often so I try to hit a hibachi restaurant at least once per trip. My standby order is the filet which is normally very good at most Japanese restaurants I go to. The filet at Hamada was one of the poorest I have every had.

Great experience for daughters birthday. The chef came out and was funny, engaging, cooked the food great, and really made the experience fun for us. We actually got extra food and we all left overly full. We had ordered some sushi and it came fast and tasted very fresh. The chicken, shrimp, and steak all were cooked perfectly and tasted very fresh. We look forward to the next special occasion to return and have some great fun!

the grandparents came in town and we took our daughter here for her birthday after it was recommended to us by several other families at the kids’ dojo(karate studio across the street). i showed the kiddos videos of habachi grills to prepare them for the experience(both recently adopted from china), and they were so excited to be at one in person. our daughter was mesmerized and full of laughter while our cook did tricks and«made big fire!», and our son somehow weaseled himself a job there learning to cook when he turns 16(7 years from now…). the prices are great and the food is amazing. i’m particular about my shrimp, but the shrimp here was oh so good. i could eat my weight in it! (the chicken is quiet perfect too.) the restaurant is clean and drinks stay full, and our chef was very entertaining and personable.

Very reasonable priced hibachi at lunch time. I typically get double rice/no veggies, and the portions are both large and delicious.

We had the Hibachi a couple weeks ago and it was amazing! It was weird at first because we were the only customers there, but it was so good it didn’t matter. Our chef and server were super friendly. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for some good hibachi!

We stopped by this place because it was on the way & didn’t want to fight traffic to get to shoguns(where we usually go for sushi & Japanese)…well, that was a mistake. Take the time… and pass this crap-hole & head to shoguns!!! We ate in the sushi dining room & if u like to eat with two loud box fans blowing on you the entire time & the lights flickering bc of electrical problems… then this is the place for you! We had the chicken hibachi & one roll of the red snapper sushi. The hibachi was pretty good which is why I gave two stars. The vegetables had a nice assortment of broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms & carrots. The portions were smaller than shoguns which was disappointing bc when a plate costs $ 15…you should expect to get your money’s worth! But it did come with a scoop of ice cream which was a nice touch. The sushi roll was disgusting. It fell apart as you tried to eat it & it did not taste fresh. I was quite disappointing considering shoguns is the same price but the quality & taste far exceeds this place. And there were all these chemicals bottles right near the kitchen(there was a bottle of Sriracha less than 3 feet from these chemicals) when you walk to the restroom which was a little worrisome to me bc I’m pretty sure that is out of regulation if the health inspector came in. Lastly, Server staff was nice but nothing above par. Bottom line… go to shoguns!!!

I don’t know where to even start. The only reason there’s one star here is because Allison, our waitress was cute. I’ve never been to a Hibachi place and had a non-Asian cook until tonight. He burnt everything– I mean even the rice. Do yourself a favor and go to Philly Connection.

Use to work there about a year ago. Very unclean in the kitchen. The store owner was also very rude to everyone who worked there except the sushi chef, who she likes to give free alcohol to all night long. I will give it that the food is decent, but because I know all this now, I’ll probably never eat there ever again.

Not the best hibachi I’ve ever been to, but certainly not the worst. Our chef was extremely tired, but he soldiered on. Consensus between me and my friends was that the food from the hibachi grill was fine, but the sushi was subpar. I think I would rather pay lunch prices there.

My favorite place for lunch! Can’t go wrong with the lunch box! I’ve been coming here for years. Visit a couple times a week.

I went here tonight with my husband and he order there hibachi and I ordered three different kinds of sushi, California Roll, Spicy Tuna, & the Crunchy Shrimp roll. My husbands hibachi wasn’t bad. But the sushi did NOT taste right at all! The first two are normal sushi rolls that you can get anywhere that sells sushi and the Crunchy Shrimp Roll was not what I expected at all. It was rice with crunchies in the center and then a piece of shrimp that is normally on nigiri sushi on top of the roll. It was odd. I figured it’d be tempura shrimp in the center of something but apparently not. I ended up only eating a piece of each one and then mentioned something to the server about it tasting odd(honestly like sushi I could buy at Kroger) and that I thought it was the rice that was bad. She said hang on and came back and said she(I’m assuming the manager) that the rice was made this morning and I was asked if I wanted them to make it again. I said I wouldn’t eat it and was offered to get a hibachi meal instead which I have nothing to complain about with the hibachi. It’s not as good as places that cook in front of you so I don’t think the prices should be as high or higher as those type of restaurants. This place is only 5 minutes from my house so i was really hoping it was good. Very disappointed.

Not really impressed. I ordered sushi to go and it was just ok. The avocado wasn’t great quality and the salmon they put on top of one of the rolls looked like it was a day old. It had dry dark edges and was pale in parts. The coloring just didn’t look normal. For as much as I love sushi I’m not willing to give this place a second chance.

I only ordered take out from here and it was pretty excellent. Had some sushi rolls and fried rice. Walking in it is a very small location with only 2 hibachi tables. I would recommend especially if your looking for something that probably isn’t going to be super packed.

OK, first time here and I give it a solid 4. No, the food was not out of this world, but it was good. Steak was ordered medium and that’s how it came, chicken was spot on, and shrimp was, well, shrimp. Now the young man did load me up on the fried rice, but that was ok for me.(I really should just get the veggies) service was great, staff responsive and best of all desert is indeed included!(well orange sherbet or cinnamon ice cream) Make the drive it’s small so call ahead to make sure they have room at the table.

Not a lot of fluff or eye candy on the décor, but food is excellent, and all staff are always nice and acommodating, and everything feels clean. Hibachi is fantastic everytime, and don’t soy sauce the rice before you try it without. The fried rice needs nothing! Our picky 5 year old cleans his plate and enjoys the show, so it’s perfect for him as well.

All of the reviews seemed great for Hamada, so we decided to try it out since it’s right around the corner from our apartment. I must admit, we were a little confused as to why it was so popular pretty soon after we arrived. As soon as we walked in the door, a not-so-pleasant smell greeted us. It seemed kid of like a bad mixture of cleaning fluids and a day care, which is just plain odd. I figured it could have been since they had just opened and had been cleaning or something, so I didn’t let it bother me too much. Things didn’t exactly look up when we got our drinks(water). My wife’s glass had white stuff floating in it, and I don’t think it was a straw wrapper. Who knows what it could have been, but thankfully they brought her a fresh, seemingly clean glass. The hibachi experience was pretty much just run-of-the-mill. They chef was nice and did the usual tricks, but nothing to write home about. The food was, honestly, on the lower end of hibachi meals that I’ve had. It was edible, but definitely not worth the price. I was excited about potentially having a good hibachi place so close by, but it was, unfortunately, a less than stellar experience between the unpleasant atmosphere and mediocre food. At least there are plenty of other choices in the area!

There are so many things I love about this restaurant. The Hibachi is great. I especially love the ginger dressing on the salad. The food is always fresh. If you tell her what you like she can suggest different things to try. The staff is always friendly and will answer any questions you have. I haven’t been there for lunch, but she has a very inexpensive lunch menu. You won’t leave hungry.

I came for lunch, and I didn’t leave unsatisfied. Great portions(I took leftovers!) and the atmosphere is light. Casual, and great for work group lunches. Takes about an hour to get in an out. The grill master was friendly and the good is delicious. ~$ 10 for lunch, a soda, and it comes with a small salad or soup. Give it a try! Great spot in the Kroger shopping center.
