This is such a great place for fish n chips! The quality is amazing and the employees are so friendly! Wish it weren’t in a mall but what are ya gonna do? Fresh, hot seafood and decent prices all served with a big smile. Can’t beat that!

I’ve eaten here numerous times over the last 5 years. I always order the salmon and chips because it’s the BEST. I love that their breading isn’t greasy. Aycheewawa, it’s hot, so break that fish open when you first get it or you’ll be dripping steaming water at the first bite. Their chowder is good but I always add seasoning; the staff is consistently friendly.

Excellent service! As someone who loves fish and chips, Ivar’s has to be one of the best out there. Would always recommend Ivar’s over most others out there! Just wish they had a full scale restaurant here like they do in Seattle!

Service is so quick here! And the people who work here are so friendly and kind! Which is a rarity for mall food courts these days. Got the clam and chips and the guy even gave us free fish and chips because they made too many. Too sweet! Good delicious and crispy as always can’t wait to try their salmon sometime!

The main reason I chose Iver’s out of all my other choices was simply because they didn’t serve their food on Styrofoam. I ordered a grill salmon with a side of fries. The salmon was very good, fries were to my liking, unsalted. The only thing I didn’t like was sampling the chowders, when they offered them in these little plastic cups. The cup melted because the chowder was pretty warm. I was just put off my by the melted cup in my chowder. It was doubled cup so I didn’t burn myself but no thanks to phthalates.

Standard operating procedures dictate you’ll hear me yell«Three Piece!» when I walk up to the counter. They’ll start cooking the fish while you wait in line to place your order and pay. Almost finished by the time the lunch line pushes me to the front. Gotta have a 3-piece whenever I’m in town.

Important note: Ivars is located in the food court at the Columbia Center Mall. Even though it’s $$, don’t expect a sit-down restaurant with a cold beer to enhance your fish and chips. However, for a food court, this is amazingly good. As other reviewers have said, the chowder is especially tasty. The server and cook are friendly; the deep fried green beans are a nice alternative to fries.

Yeah that’s right. I’m giving Ivar’s 4 stars. Why you say? Because I can’t stand Bonefish and Anthony’s. My friends always want to go to those two places to eat and almost everytime I have had horrible food. Sometimes the fish is raw, clams have sand, or they just run out of something. The food is super salty and paltry looking. The dishes look like the seafood I have ordered at Shari’s. With Ivar’s I always get consistent chowder, fried fish and fries. Never once have I ever gotten anything soggy or cold. The only thing you should do at those«other» places is sit at the bar and drink. Why wait to get squished in like sardines for overpriced not fresh(you know it’s not fresh right?) seafood?

Since I’ve been banned from the mall for«not being cool or shallow enough», I don’t make it to Ivar’s very often, but I must say that I enjoy it. For starters, it’s one of the very few original placed in the food court. It’s a chain, but it’s a limited and local chain so that makes it cool. They have the best fish and chips in town(of course, there’s not much competition) and I’m told they have good chowder, but I don’t eat chowder anymore after a «bad experience». I enjoy getting the salmon and chips because it’s unique, but also very good. They also have halibut and chips(which hasn’t been tried due to the cost), regular fish and chips, calamari and others. It’s all freshly prepared. You can tell by the fact that it almost destroys your mouth when you first bite into it… and the fact that they start cooking only as soon as you order. Service is different, but not bad and the only real downer to the place is that it’s in the mall… yep.

This place inside a mall is SO busy! The food is consistently good Ivars food. I love their tartar ssauce. I appreciate all workers in malls. They put up with crowds, noisy groups, whiny children and also make food. Thank you employees.

I love Ivar’s! A lot of other people like it too, because it is always busy. The clam chowder is the best. I also love the fish. It’s always fresh and cooked to perfection. I like that they have a selection on vinegar. Vinegar on fish is way better than tartar sauce. The employees are super friendly too. I love the ordering system. You just kinda stand there, make eye contact with the cook, and yell out your order. Some people get all uptight and want to know where the line is. They just need to chill and go with the flow! They also offer free refills on soda, so that’s a plus.
